  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Time is Ticking

Time is ticking, ticking by,
Birds are singing, babies cry,
Hearts are mourning things long dead,
Words ill spoken, should not said.

So regretful, those who mourn
Over things should not been born,
Wish that they could all erase,
And the truth not have to face.

We cannot erase the past,
Even if we pray and fast.
What we did will long live on
Even when we’re dead and gone.

So, what is our attitude?
Past is past, that is the truth.
But there may be consequence
For the things we did, no sense.

Yes, we can be forgiven,
Die with Christ to self and sin,
Live for Him now every day,
Read our Bibles, bow and pray,

Walk with Jesus every day,
Do all that he has to say,
Live for Him and not for self
Put the flesh up on the shelf.

Still we may be called to pay
For what we did another day,
For everyone has not forgiven
The sins we did, that we were livin.

Poland is done sending arms to Ukraine, Polish leader says as trade dispute escalates

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s prime minister said his country is no longer sending arms to Ukraine as a trade dispute between the neighboring states escalates and his populist party faces pressure from the far right in the upcoming national election.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a television interview late Wednesday that Poland is “no longer transferring any weapons to Ukraine because we are now arming ourselves with the most modern weapons” in a military modernization plan spurred by fears of Russian aggression in the region.

Gabrielle Hanson, running morality campaign for Franklin (TN) mayor, admits to [30-year-old] arrest for 'promoting prostitution'

In the video, the Franklin alderman claims she was trying to finish up college at Southern Methodist University when she took a job answering phones for what she thought was a modeling and casting agency.

"I answered the phone, I took a name, I took a number and a date," Hanson says. "At the end of my work session, I would call the owners and give them that information."

She claims she had no idea it was an escort service until police came calling.

As a result, Hanson says, she agreed to take a plea for a single charge under a "deferred adjudication," which allows first-time offenders to avoid convictions.

Spiritual Warfare: The Occult Has Demonic Influence

SPIRITUAL WARFARE: THE OCCULT HAS DEMONIC INFLUENCE

Bishop Donald W. Montrose

By the "occult," we are speaking of some supra-human or supernatural influence that is not from God. We commonly associate the occult with that which has demonic influence.

In the United States today the occult has become much more popular than it was twenty years ago. Today, there is popular Satanic music, Satanic street gangs, an increase in Satanic worship, a more widespread use of the horoscope and study of the signs of the zodiac, and Satanic games that can be purchased. In spite of this, many people do not take the occult seriously. They laugh off the notion of the Power of Evil as actually being a part of the "real" world in which we live.

I do believe that demonic influence is very real and that it constitutes a dangerous threat to our spiritual well-being. What is written here is, at best, a brief summary of a reality that I have no desire to spend much time exploring. My purpose is simply to give you enough knowledge to be able to at least suspect the presence of the occult so that you can avoid it completely.

Having problems with panic attacks before church.

I know this was talked about in the Mental Health forum but it is read only. And I could really use some suggestions from other Christians. I suffer from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from a really messed childhood. I won't go into the details but it was my father, mother, and two brothers. They were/are all suffered from severe mental illness. I have been through a lot of therapy. And on medication for anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. The thing is that I have actually been doing well for quite awhile. Not saying their have not been some bad bouts, their have been. But something strange has been going on for awhile.
We moved to a new area that my wife and I love. And found a church we love. So what's the problem? I am having severe panic attacks before church. Heart rate and blood pressure through the roof. Nausea, even feeling like I am going to pass out sometimes. Which I don't understand because I have been a believer for a long time. I have taught Sunday school classes, served for awhile years ago, and love the Lord and His people. So I don't know why this is happening. The only thing that has changed is about a year ago my son passed away from a reaction to a medication he was on.
It was pretty horrible obviously. With that my CPTSD flared up something awful. Nightmares, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, all the things that go with it. I am seeing a Christian therapist. Doing my medicine. But still having trouble going to a place I love and want to serve. I don't feel like I am made at God over what happened. But I am a bit lost over the way my body is reacting with panic attacks. Any help would be appreciated.

EVIDENCE showing the President lied repeatedly about his knowing and involvement in Hunter's business

Directly from the oversight committee

This part caught my attention:

During a media interview, Devon Archer responded to claims that there was no corruption, and that Joe Biden had no role whatsoever in Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings or knowledge of it. “That’s categorically false.”

Why don't people get it?

Why don't people get it? We all have sinned against God therefore we ALL deserve to go to hell. Yet, everybody seems to want to live in this fantasy world that they are good people and God would never do something like that to good people. Really? You're perfect in every way? You've NEVER sinned against God before even once?

That's the standard but yet of course this isn't true of 100% of all people. We would deserve hellfire if we've sinned only once but the huge problem is, we've ALL sinned against God MILLIONS if not BILLIONS of times. Yet God is supposed to overlook your multitude of sins and let you go free just because you try to cover the shamefullness of your sins with a few good works that really only measure up to nothing but filthy rags?

This is a fact. You're either going to hell or heaven when you die. Either you'll be punished or you'll be pardoned. Which will it be? How do YOU measure up to God's perfect standard?

And when you think about the issue that should make your heart skip several beats. There's a way that God designed to be the ONLY way to Heaven. Let's forget the debate of Calvinism vs Arminianism or Catholic vs Protestant or Eastern Orthodox vs Catholics. Let's forget everything that divides us. What unites us is Jesus Christ died on the cross for sinners so that you and I could be forgiven. But instead of getting the completely and totally righteous punishment we ALL deserve we can have Eternal life with God in heaven with all of its wonderful glory.

Or you can continue denying facts and spend an eternity in hell. Either way, NOBODY gets INJUSTICE. Can I get an amen? If I went to hell today I wouldn't be like literally everybody else there. I would be like the thief on the cross and tell everyone there about how foolish they were and about how we DESERVE to be there. You may think im harsh with saying that but when it comes to the truth, God is "harsh". The prophets weren't afraid to speak the truth when it came to God so neither should any true child of God be afraid of speaking the truth. Hell is real and so is Heaven. It's debatable how many people will be in each but they ARE real. They are both VERY real and yes, God will not let sin go unpunished or un dealt with. It's a fact.

Akathist for St John of Shanghai and San Francisco

I figured here is a good place to ask.

Would anyone have a link to the text for the Akathist for St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in the following two languages:
1) Greek
2) Romanian

Finding it in English and Russian is straightforward but I can't seem to locate it in these two languages.

Hey there!

Hi, I'm Richard. I'm British. I'm 35, I've struggled my whole life with my faith. I really kind of want to find my path. I figured the best way to do that is to be around like-minded people. I've always encountered a lot of sway that's bordered me in the middle of the debate on whether or not to dedicate myself to something as meaningful as this, but - I think with the call getting heavier and louder than it has been in the past; now is the time. I look forward to being around you all.

What was Paul's thorn?

Some say it was a sickness. Others will say it was an injury. There's a lot of views on what Paul's thorn in the flesh was, usually it's made out to be something that helps fit whatever narrative is being discussed at the time. But what does the text say and how can we use that to strengthen our own walk with Jesus?

So to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 2 Corinthians 12:7 (BSB)

To keep Paul from becoming conceited, Paul was given a messenger of Satan...

My understanding is it wasn't some sickness, but rather a demon, or rather a demonic messenger, who was tormenting Paul about his past. Not that Paul had a demon, don't misunderstand me, but it was a demonic messenger that was using Paul's past to try and bring him down. And oddly enough, what Satan meant for harm, Jesus used for good. The message weakened Paul to the point where he learned to say through the Holy Spirit, "When I am weak, then I am strong."

We know from other passages of scripture that Paul's past is something that he frequently used to illustrate just how gracious and forgiving God is.

If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, persecuting the church; as to righteousness in the law, faultless. Philippians 3:4-6 (BSB)

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, Philippians 3:13 (BSB)

For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how severely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. Galatians 1:13-14 (BSB)

I could go on, but there's a bunch and we get the point.

I believe the thorn in Paul's flesh was a demonic messenger that Jesus allowed to persist with Paul to keep him humble. To remind Paul of where he came from so that Paul wouldn't become conceited with pride.

So how can we use that information in our own lives? I know me personally I struggle quite a bit with things I've done in the past, and how I believe those acts are still affecting me and those I love in the present. It hurts quite a bit truthfully, and while I can't change what I've done, I can learn to say, "When I am weak, then I am strong."

Those thoughts, those emotions, should lead me to run headlong towards the arms of Jesus. Finding grace and comfort in the presence of my Savior, who has forgiven me.

So allow me to encourage you, wherever you may be. That when thoughts or feelings of the past come around, a messenger of Satan. Use what is meant for harm for good. Those thoughts and feelings did not come from God, do not allow yourself to be condemned from something God has forgiven you for!

Let your past and the things that God has forgiven you from lead you into the arms of the Lord and find "grace to help in your time of need"! (Hebrews 4:14-16)

I see stories like this, and can't help but think of self driving cars making things even worse.

The Cost of Discipleship

SCRIPTURE: 'As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.” But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” He said to another person, “Come, follow me.” The man agreed, but he said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” But Jesus told him, “Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.” Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say goodbye to my family.” But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”' Luke 9:57-62

LESSON: The Cost of discipleship is highlighted here for us by the Lord Himself. Whether invited or not, there is always a price to pay. However, many choose to stay away due to their freedom of choice. In verse 58, Jesus discusses the cost of denying material possessions. What this means is that you cannot claim permanent ownership of anything, as God may demand it at any time. For example, Peter's house became Jesus' ministry headquarters. The second cost involves denying relationships and legitimate concerns of this life in order to prioritize kingdom purposes, as outlined in verses 59-62. Keep in mind the parable of the sower. The seed that fell on the rock (the flesh and its associations) and among the thorns (the troubles of this world and the lust for other things) perished because they were burnt or choked to death by these reasonable concerns. As a result, obtaining the grace to prioritize God and His kingdom is the key to successful discipleship!

PRAYER: Lord, please, give us the grace to prioritize Your kingdom above our necessary concerns. :praying:

Don't Follow Strangers

John 10:1-6 ESV

“’Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.’ This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.”

What do these thieves and robbers look like? What does a stranger look like? And I don’t mean in physical appearance, but in character – in thought, word, and deed. How will we know if there are such “thieves and robbers and strangers” among us? How will we recognize them? Will they be loud and boisterous? Or quiet and unassuming? They could be either one. For they will appear to be whatever you think they should be so that you will trust them, and so that you will believe and follow them.

So, what are they thieving and robbing? They are robbing the truth from the Scriptures, and they are robbing you of that truth in their teaching. And they are robbing from you your trust in them, for they are just using you and taking advantage of you. And they are lying to you and manipulating you and smooth-talking you so that you will believe that they are your friend, and that what they are offering to you is for your good and not to harm you. But all of that is to make you like them and trust them and believe them.

So, how do we discern these thieves, robbers, and strangers from those who are sincere and honest and trustworthy? Well, we have to pay close attention, not just to what they are saying, but to how they are saying it, and to what they are not saying, i.e. what they are leaving out. What is missing? Are they quoting Scriptures but not talking about them? Are they misquoting Scriptures? And/or are they quoting Scriptures out of context that when read in context take on a whole different meaning?

We read in Jude 1 that they pervert the grace of God into sensuality and deny Jesus Christ (which can be in actions and in words or in actions only). And to pervert is to distort, to misrepresent, to alter, and to corrupt the Scriptures and what they teach about the grace of God. And sensuality is fleshly, sexual, carnal, and sexual immorality, impurity, evil thoughts, passion, and orgies, and lawless insolence, indecency, and lewdness.

So, how do they pull this off? How do they get people to accept that? Well, they teach them that all they have to do is to make a once in a lifetime profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and now all their sins are forgiven (past, present, and future), and now heaven is guaranteed them, and it can’t be taken away from them, regardless of how they live. And they convince them that no works are required of them – no repentance, no obedience to God, no submission to Christ as Lord and no living holy lives, pleasing to God.

And they do this by taking Scriptures out of their context and then twist them to make them say what they want them to say. And people are buying into these perversions of God’s grace by the masses! For example they quote Ephesians 2:8-9 which says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” But they leave out verse 10, which says: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

And they don’t teach Titus 2:11-14 which says, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”

So many of their adherents, thus, have this mistaken idea that because they made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ that heaven is now secured for them regardless of how they live. And so that is a corruption of the grace of God which gives those who believe in it free license to continue living in deliberate and habitual and premeditated sin without conscience and without feeling guilty, and absent of remorse. And many of them are addicted to sexual immorality, believing that God will not judge them.

But what did Jesus say? He said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness,’” because they believed they did not have to obey the Lord for salvation (Matthew 7:21-23).

So, if we are those who are in genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, by God-given and God-persuaded faith in him, and so we were crucified with him in death to sin, and we were raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness, if we are walking by that faith in him we are not going to be those who follow these liars and deceivers, i.e. these strangers. But we are going to follow Jesus wherever he leads us, and we will obey him.

[Matt 7:21-23; Matt 24:9-14; Lu 9:23-26; Rom 1:18-32; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14,24; Rom 12:1-2; Rom 13:11; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; 1 Co 1:18; 1 Co 15:1-2; 2 Tim 1:8-9; Heb 9:28; 1 Pet 1:5; Gal 5:16-21; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:5-17; 1 Pet 2:24; Tit 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-9; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; Heb 3:6,14-15; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

When I Go Home

By G. M. Eldridge

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes…” Revelation 21:4

In the moment He appears
And the light from heaven shines,
I’ll forget ev’ry fear,
Ev’ry pain I’ll leave behind.
Then I’ll see Him as He is
And I’ll know Him as I’m known.
Ev’ry tear wiped away when I go home.

Ever present is the tho’t
That a moment waits for me
When unworthy as I am,
His glory I will see.
I will empty all my praise
Before my Father’s throne.
Ev’ry tear wiped away when I go home.

If the trial I endure,
And your presence I can’t find,
Be near me, Lord, I pray,
Bring back unto my mind
That your promises are firm
And I’m never on my own.
Ev’ry tear wiped away when I go home.

Bishop Who Will Attend Synod: We Must Address Issue of Women Deacons and Priests

St. John Paul II wrote in his 1994 apostolic letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis that the ministerial priesthood is reserved only for men and that the Church has no power to change this.

The bishop of San Francisco de Macorís in the Dominican Republic, Alfredo De la Cruz, who will be participating in the Synod on Synodality in October at the Vatican, said the event should discuss mandatory celibacy, the diaconate, and the ministerial priesthood for women, among other issues.

The prelate made the remarks during a virtual event titled “International Synod Conversation of the Church. Will anything change in the Church?” organized by the Academy of Catholic Leaders and held Sept. 18.

Also participating in the event were Cardinal Seán O’Malley, archbishop of Boston and president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors; Luis Cabrera, archbishop of Guayaquil, Ecuador; and the Spanish laywoman Eva Fernández, coordinator of the International Forum of Catholic Action.

Asked about what could change in Catholic doctrine, Bishop De la Cruz noted: “We must first distance ourselves from everything that fundamentalism signifies, from believing that doctrine can’t be touched. That would be the first temptation we would have, to believe that doctrine can’t be touched. Doctrine is there in order to reflect, to see.”

4 Vital things to remember when considering our seniors

If you want to truly cherish and make the most of the elderly in your lives, it's important to take these points into consideration.

As society moves ahead at a dizzying speed, it’s important to remember that there is a generation of seniors who might not move at the same pace.

However, without these elderly ladies and gentlemen we wouldn’t be here today. Therefore, above all, our elderly relatives, friends, and neighbors need to be cherished and truly valued for the many things they can still teach us today.

In caring for our grandparents or other senior members of our community, it is important to bear in mind certain factors and sentiments they may have to cope with, and the ways you can help them do so:

They may feel physical frustration
