Trump can't make bond

Trump apparently can't make his bond to appeal New York judgement.

Former President Donald Trump can’t find an insurance company to underwrite his bond to cover the massive judgment against him in the New York attorney general’s civil fraud case, his lawyers told a New York appeals court.

Trump’s attorneys said he has approached 30 underwriters to back the bond, which is due by the end of this month.

“The amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $464 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude,” Trump’s lawyers wrote. (Trump himself was ordered to pay $454 million; the $464 million includes the disgorgement for his adult sons Don Jr. and Eric.)

An insurance broker, Gary Giulietti, who testified for Trump during the civil fraud trial, signed an affidavit stating that securing a bond in the full amount “is a practical impossibility.”

Potential underwriters are seeking cash to back the bond, not properties, according to Trump’s lawyers.

Trump’s lawyers have asked the appeals court to delay posting the bond until his appeal of the case is over, arguing that the value of Trump’s properties far exceed the judgment. If the appeals court rules against him, Trump asked the court to delay his posting the bond until his appeal to New York’s highest court is heard.

Trump said Monday he thought it was “practically impossible” for him to post the bond.

In a post on Truth Social, he claimed the size of the bond is “unConstitutional, un-American, unprecedented, and practically impossible for ANY Company, including one as successful as mine. The Bonding Companies have never heard of such a bond, of this size, before, nor do they have the ability to post such a bond, even if they wanted to.”

Last month, Trump was ordered to pay $355 million in disgorgement, or “ill-gotten gains,” by New York Judge Arthur Engoron in a civil fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Engoron wrote in his 93-page decision that Trump and his co-defendants – including his adult sons – were liable for fraud, conspiracy and issuing false financial statements and false business records, finding that the defendants fraudulently inflated the value of Trump’s assets to obtain more favorable loan and insurance rates.

The amount Trump owed surpassed $450 million with interest included.

This is a well played political game, almost as well played as the fake moon landings.
So how did that mirror array that astronomers use to check the distance to the moon get set up there?

Not that it has anything to do with the fact that no one with any sense at all would put up a bond for Trump without cash on the barrelhead.

If he can't come up with the bond, New York will shortly start disassembling his companies and selling off his properties to cover his fines.

"Dark Brandon Tower." I like it.

What is really enjoyable about all this, is watching people like who who actually believe all this political balderdash and the debates you participate in. Vigorously defending one side or the other, like there is really actually a difference.

It turns out, Trump's dilemma has nothing at all to to with pollitical balderdash. It's a legal problem. And a financial one. Politics won't make it worse or better for him.

It won't really become Dark Brandon Tower. That was just a gratuitous wisecrack.

Yes. His buddy Howard Stern, predicted that becoming president was going to be very bad for Trump's mental health. And he was right; we can see him falling apart, week after week.

Let us not forget the real issue: Trump and top executives at his company had engaged in fraud for years by hugely overstating their assets on financial documents in order to get rates on bank loans and insurance policies that they otherwise would not have been entitled to.

Trump is a proven fraud.

For years huh where did you read that? And how come banks didn't do their homework making sure Trump had the assets to repay loans incase he didn't repay them and they had to cease his properties. I don't think there's been loan he defaulted on. He payed back every penny.

Banks don't give out special rates because people have high price assets, that's made up bologna.

What is the judge who threw a whopper of a fine at him? Is that not "overstating"?

The ironies never end

They like to understate as well, Trump's home in Florida so a judge says is 18 million. The backyard of the place is worth more than that lol..

So you like the darkness, interesting
"Dark Brandon" really triggers some people. Classic backfire. Didn't figure it would bother anyone here. I'll try to remember not to say it again.

That was Stern, not me. And he was genuinely worried about what being president would do to Trump's mind. He had it right. Lots of others are now concerned, particularly with Trump's frequent sundowning, followed by periods of lucidity:

Recently, several clinicians have noted the ways he has begun to mistake words, lose his train of thought, confuse Biden with Obama, particularly during long rallies held in the evening. There are examples of phonemic paraphasia – swapping parts of words for others that sound similar; these are signs of early dementia, even though they are intermittent.

“The complaints about Joe Biden have been more vague – citing his advanced age, physical fragility and occasional mixing up of names. But there is no evidence of dementia onset, no ‘sun-downing,’ no reports from staff or cabinet members that he is failing to stay on top of legislative or international issues. This in contrast to Trump whose cabinet at the end of his term considered invoking the 25th amendment.

Some of the most pointed warnings have come from Florida Gov Ron DeSantis, who warned recently, “This is a different Donald Trump than 2015 and ’16,” adding, “Now, it’s just a different guy. And it’s sad to see.” DeSantis’s campaign even claimed that Trump’s declining mental acuity might be the reason “his handlers won’t let him debate.”
...
It’s true that there are times when Trump seems to function like his old self. But we do need to worry whether Trump is, in fact, suffering a dangerous mental decline, because if he wins the presidency in 2024, he will be — among other vitally important roles he’ll play as US president — commander-in chief-of our military.

His pole numbers are increasing because it's obvious Bidens mental state is declining rapidly.

That's nothing but tit for tat article because Bidens mental state is in decline so the left is reaching for straws.

Not according to the House Republicans. They say that Biden outsmarted them on the budget negotiations.
That's nothing but tit for tat article
We don't see Biden sundowning or forgetting what his wife looks like. And we don't see Biden suggesting that people inject themselves with disinfectant, or claiming that windmills cause cancer, or praising George Washington for seizing airports. Face it; Trump's ongoing congnitive decline is a serious concern.
