I stopped reading what you wrote after the first line since the rest of it probably follows the same straw man reasoning. Nobody expects someone in the White House to single handedly do anything, but that person obviously can set up policies that influence the economy in big ways.

To a certain extent (nd you'll have noticed the link I gave you that explains why people hold on to US$ - becuse your economy is doing well). But I'll repeat the point I made, which is that the guy in charge can mitigate some of the problems that we all face. But he or she can't be blamed for us finding ourselves in that position in the first place. Which is all you ever do.

It's all negativity. Which has resulted in you not gaining the Senate. It's all you guys complaining 'we're going the wrong way!' when you don't offer a reasonable alternative.

Going to go us more of the same over the next two years? The Dems certainly hope so.

Only in the minds of those who feel the need to hold him up as some sort of boogeyman to blame everything on.

B: What's with the elephant all the time? He's soiled the carpet, broken the furniture and stinks the place out. Nobody is going to invite you to a party again unless you get rid of him.
A: What elephant?

So which is it?
Yeah, how dare Americans want to make their country great again!

You first acknowledge his influence then deny it, only to repeat your first comment again.
Trump's "MAGA" was a catchy slogan but it had nothing in common with his demeanor, policy or the results of his time in office. Trump is the (THEE) most divisive political figure in my lifetime. There's nothing great about that.

I certainly don't blame him for everything. You're on the wrong track there. Try again.

Freedom to force other people to say things they know aren't true (I'm a woman, not a man! Say it!), freedom to groom young children to accept sexually perverse ideology against the wishes of the parents (who are labeled as "terrorists" if they speak out), freedom to make sure an election is secure by taking part in the observation process?

And I guess you thought that these were points that you could keep bringing up time after time after time and people would consider these matters to be of the utmost importance and vote accordingly. Well, now you know better...

Serious consideration must surely be given to not argue against you when you keep making the same mistakes and just let you keep making them. Hopefully you and the GOP will keep on keeping on until 2024 when you will again be forced to claim that the election was stolen. Because there is zero self awareness of the faults within the party. I mean, it has to be someone else's fault!

Time for some reflection, I'd say. Maybe some in the GOP hierarchy will start that ball rolling. Where that will leave you...I have no idea.

Trump certainly can't be blamed for everything.

Some of the blame must go to those who did as he requested.

Some of the blame must go to those who continued to repeat the Big Lie.

Some of blame must go to those who simply didn't say "enough" to Trump.

There is such a thing as going in a different direction. When a person (or country) realizes they're headed the wrong way, it would only be insanity to willingly continue in that direction.
That's why after seeing the election of Trump the GOP loss the house and the Senate, the follow on presidency, and now drastically under preformed given these midterms. Quite apparent that is not the direction they wanted to go.

Maybe the Republicans will learn and maybe they won't. The answer is not at call clear.

Trump almost lost to a very bad Democratic candidate in 2016.

Trump leadership lost both big-time in the 2018 off year elections.

Trump lost to Biden in 2020.

Trump named many of the candidates, and led the party agenda in 2022, a produced a truly horrible offseason performance against a president with a 40% popularity rating.
==================
OPTION 1
This is Trump's party. He easily has support of 30% percent, enough to win almost any primary. His path is clear to getting the nomination and being having yet another terrible performance.

OPTION 2
The Republican Party is ready to move on, even if it takes a cycle or two to push out the Trumpers and truly gain control.

Sure. Fetterman is obviously the better choice. He has so much in common with Biden. He should run for President. Fetterman 2024

What's that supposed to mean? Other than both men being white Pennsylvanians, and Democrats, I don't see much they have in common.

BTW, Fetterman is a guy who obviously has a great heart, who has been helping people since he was a teenager through Big Brothers. I would have thought that would get more understanding from somebody who follows Jesus?

Have you followed the politics of US evangelicals for the past 50 years?

Yes. That's my point. I don't get the preference for a self-enriching nominal Muslim, unless they think actual religious convictions don't matter.

Then again, ever since the 1980's, the Religious Right in the US has defined themselves primarily in terms of what they are against.

Yeah, why discriminate about anyone's physical or mental state...

Questioning someone's mental state is fair game. Confusing someone's mental state with the after effects of a stroke exhibits an ignorance of the problem from which they suffer.

Not if the current path has gotten us record-high inflation, increasing crime, increased poverty, and now closer to nuclear war than at any time in history.
One only needs to look back a couple years to see how much better things were, who was in charge, and where we should look to make things better than they are now.

A couple of years ago we had >500,000 more deaths than usual— the biggest death rate jump in over a century. President Trump knew jack squat about medicine and infectious diseases. He admitted being advised on how serious the situation was, but he chose to downplay it. Instead, he recommended a useless arthritis medication. After much prodding by his HHS dept, the CDC, and others, Donald Trump finally got on the Operation Warpspeed train to develop vaccines. And additionally, to send government “Economic Stimulus” checks to everyone, pro-rated by their AGIs.
Commendable in a way. But the skeptic in me wonders if it was partly intended to make voters forget how badly he bungled the pandemic early on. And BTW, if payouts like these aren’t socialistic, then what is?

Not to mention that Trump did nothing positive for our world image. He had zero respect among our allies. He was laughed at in the UN and was mocked at the G7. Trump does respect and admire Vlad Putin. Whom he called a genius. Obviously, dictators and dictator wannabes think alike.

BTW: I didn’t vote for Joe Biden. I wrote-in Pete Buttigieg for Pres., and Sen. Tammy Duckworth for VP. Joe has difficult moments. But even if he were wearing adult diapers in a memory care nursing home, he’d be a 1000 times better pres. than Donald Trump. And 10,000 times the better man.

I’m old enough to remember that President Trump wanted his name on the “checks” until informed that most “checks” would actually be done via EFT.
