We have raised a generation(s) of pathetic, weak, crybabies. Period. We have raised countless children that have not matured properly, and they scream red faced at anyone with whom they disagree... and yet, they cry and need safe zones and counseling because they see a word or phrase written in chalk.
A nation will never be strong or stay strong if this is what becomes its foundation.
Words hurt? Is that what we've become? War, disease, starvation, terrorism, violent crime... all of those hurt. Dear Lord, what a wonderful world it would be if getting your feelings hurt really was on the top of the hurt list.
Let's use Our Lord as an example (as we should all try to be like Him).
Did Jesus get down on His knees and beg the Pharisees to stop talking bad about Him?
Did He cry out "unfair!" when they accused Him of being possessed by Beelzebub?
Did He crawl into a corner and curl up into a ball when people rejected His teachings?
Did He cower in fear or try to run away when they came to arrest Him?
No, He spoke exactly the truth, no matter who liked it. He didn't plead with people as they walked away from Him after the sermon about Communion. No, He just kept walking and preaching. If people left Him, you know what His response was?
"They went out from us, because they were not of us. If they had been of us, they would have stayed with us." (pp)
So He's basically saying "If they don't like what I have to say, fine. I'm going to speak the truth regardless of who likes it."
And when That Day came when He stood before Pilate, He didn't beg the Jews not to crucify Him, no, He carried His cross right up that hill (with a little help from Simon) and didn't resist a single bit.
His apostles did similar, nearly all of them were martyred for their causes, imprisoned and killed in very demeaning ways. They didn't waver, they gave their lives for their cause.
Compare that to these college kids who whine and curl up into a ball anytime they are presented with an idea that they don't like. Oi.
Sad, sad day when you are not permitted to present an idea without having to water it down because you might offend someone with it.
