How do you come to terms with your adult child denounce her belief?

I sometimes blame myself or rethink if there is anything I could have done differently. I pray daily for her heart to turn back to God. What else can parent do?
First, you can stop blaming yourself.
That would be like crying over spilt milk.
If she is of right heart, God will let himself be found by her, and draw her to Christ. John 6:44; 1 Chronicles 28:9

Be my Shelter by Dallas Holm

I have watched the storm clouds gather on the horizon;
I have listened to the distant thunder roll.
I have felt a stronger current in the ocean;
I have felt a stronger current in my soul.

I have felt the earth tremble beneath my feet;
I have heard the breakers crash upon the shore.
I have seen a stronger wind begin to gather;
I have heard the raindrops pounding on my door.

Be my shelter, be my sanctuary,
Spread your mighty loving wings and cover me.
Be my Savior from the adversary,
Be my ever present help in time of need.

All the earth is groaning,
Waiting for the Day.
Find me to be faithful,
Lead me in the Way.

I can almost hear the host of Heaven singing;
I can almost feel the power around the throne.
While I wait to make that final distant journey;
And until I finally make that place my home.

I Saw the Lord by Dallas Holm

The place was white as snow
And pure as finest gold.
It had the look of new,
Yet had the look of old.
I felt like I was home,
But felt so far away,
In fear I thought to leave,
But felt the urge to stay.

And then a silence fell
Like none I′d ever known.
I stood among the millions,
I stood there all alone.
His face was like the sun,
His eyes were like the sea,
His voice was like the thunder
Rolling through eternity.

And...
I saw the Lord
He was high and lifted up
And rightfully adored

And...
I saw the Lord
And He saw me

And then from sleep awakened
I looked into the night.
The darkness overtaken
By a bright and shining light.
I couldn't understand it
I couldn′t reason how,
And then my eyes beheld Him
I wasn't dreaming now

And...
I saw the Lord
He was high and lifted up
And rightfully adored,

And...
I saw the Lord
And He saw me.

    Convict-Turned-Evangelist Evicted, Beaten

[2] prayers in [1] nation have been posted for Paiswan.
Hindus in Nepal often oppose the witness of Christians.
Bhaluwan Kumar Paiswan was serving a 20-year prison sentence for gang-related crimes when he ended up in a cell with a Christian evangelist. Annoyed at first, he eventually placed his faith in Christ and experienced new joy and peace. When he was released early, he met another evangelist who discipled him, and they began to work together. The church in that village grew to 25 people in a few years with many more showing interest. Read More.

    Pastor's Children Threatened

[3] prayers in [1] nation have been posted for the Luz family.
The lives of Jaime and Ana Luz's children were threatened by violent guerrillas in Colombia.
Jaime and Ana Luz have ministered in one of Colombia's "red zones," areas under guerrilla control, for nine years. In early 2024, they received a phone call from a member of the guerrilla group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) demanding they pay four million pesos [roughly $1000] in half an hour or their two children, ages 8 and 9, would be killed. The family paid a portion of the demanded amount but have received threatening phone calls and letters slipped under their door. Still, Jaime and Ana Luz remain committed to advancing the gospel in this area. Read More.

    Two Families Lose Crops, Livestock

[2] prayers in [1] nation have been posted for Christians in Laos.
Xing shared his testimony at a seminar for persecuted Christians.
Two families in one Bru tribal village in Laos became Christians in February 2023. One of the families was driven out after enduring the threats and pressure of the community, which included the destruction of crops and livestock. The other family, Xing, Nang and their three children, were then alone, facing the same daily persecution as the family who had been driven out. Read More.

God keeps His Promises - ALL of them. Personal testimony part C...

This song was given to me from God, through His Son Jesus, 36 years ago. He meant it then, He means it now - because HE keeps His Covenant with me even though I broke His Covenant with Him - just like King David.

For only one reason does He keep it, because He is Holy and Righteous, and He declares whatever He wishes to declare, just because it pleases Him!

Exodus 33:19a NIV

"I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."

Romans 9:14-15 NIV

"What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses,

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

To all my Brothers and Sisters here, this is my testimony from an old fella in the Lord: If you have received Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord, and can hear His Spirit assuring you in your spirit, then you have no reason to ever fear or doubt. God is THE Promise Keeper.

And you know that you know His voice - His written Word declares it for you:

Romans 8:16 NIV

"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children."

Count on Him to declare it to you and through you to the end of your temporal life here, until the great day that we all stand before Him:

Jude 1:24-25 ESV

"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."

So finally, here's that very special song to me, to you already sealed by His Spirit, and I look forward to you continuing to share your songs and testimonies with all of us!

As for genuine seekers, you too can hear His voice and His assurance - I don't care WHO you are. He's waiting for you to simply ask Him in faith - faith in His Son Jesus. Do so today, friends!

God bless us all!

Illinois police release bodycam video of fatal shooting of Black woman in her home

This sort of tragedy occurs too often. In fact, it should never occur. May the Lord our God bless and comfort all those in mourning. In the mighty holy holy holy and precious name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen, amen.
While this is absolutely tragic and this guy deserves the charge imo, I think the idea that it happens often is a misnomer. When one looks at the numbers of calls and contacts officers.have with the public across the nation, it happens very rarely.

We get the idea it happens often in because when it does it garners a lot of attention and even 5 incidents in a year seems like a lot.

I would love it if this never happened. And I do think we could reduce this even further by several things.

More training in de-escalation technique along with use of force training with scenarios to practice.

Lastly, limiting the power of unions to protect officers from disciplinary actions and having their actions kept on record.

Right now, too often an officers actions have to be so egregious there is absolutely no defense for it in order for the officer to be let go. And that's primarily due to the unions protecting them.

Sisters of St. Francis help vulnerable women achieve financial independence

(OSV News) — During the years Sister Frances Sedlacek ministered in rural areas of Brazil, she witnessed a movement that shifted her worldview.

“The women in Brazil were like slaves. They had no rights, no say in anything, but they started fighting (for equality). They said, ‘We want a voice in our villages and in decisions being made,'” recalled Sister Frances, 75, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. “(I had the) experience of watching these women finding a voice.”

She craved to empower women this way in her hometown of Colorado Springs, Colorado. And when she returned in 1998, she found two fellow Sisters of St. Francis passionate about the same idea. These included Sister Jeannette Kneifel, who had just written a doctoral thesis on energizing women to take action in their lives, and Sister Marilyn Uhing, who had launched a women-centered spiritual organization.

“We were alive with the idea of women helping women to have a voice in their own life,” Sister Frances said. “We got together and decided to develop a new program.”

The sisters accomplished more than she ever imagined with the nonprofit they created together, Women Partnering. Serving the Colorado Springs area, this organization provides financially vulnerable women with the tools and support to achieve economic sustainability and overall independence.

With services provided at no cost to women, the nonprofit has helped over 5,400 women and 5,000 children since its opening in 2001.

3- Transformation (Conversion) By beholding we become changed (What is called Antinomianism is not Lawlessness)

Let me see if I can re-gather the thread and re-address the opening post. This particular op is the third in a series that so far includes five ops that can be found HERE. They all occur in the Bibliology and Hermeneutics board, which is designated for "the study of the Bible and Scriptures through interpretation and translation," and hermeneutics is defined as "the interpretation of various types of literature in the Bible, and addressing scripture in [its] normal meaning, interpreting scripture historically, grammatically and contextually. The purpose of Hermeneutics is to prevent us from improperly applying scripture to a particular situation." That is how the ops in this board are supposed to be discussed.
Continued from (2- Looking in a mirror) By beholding we become changed (What is called Antinomianism is not Lawlessness) <- Active Link

2 Corinthians 3:18 We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.
All five of the ops in this series are predicated upon 2 Corinthians 3:18. This is self-evident from the individual ops themselves. Each op quotes the verse and then builds its case on the interpretation of the verse. The interpretation of the verse is that we are looking at Jesus in the mirror. This is stated in point 2 of these ops.
All three ops up to this point make the exact same assertion.

The problem is this is bad exegesis. First, let me acknowledge the "unveiled face" is a given. Paul asserts it as something already possessed by the saint, not something the saint puts on or takes off; it's not something that is a product of volitional agency or works of the now redeemed and regenerate believer. It is a given and, as far as I can tell from reading the threads, the ops correctly treat it as such. This is important because when we look in the mirror we see the unveiled face. The first op in the series did an adequate job of correctly tying this imagery of the unveiled face back to Moses and his experience in the tabernacle as the intermediary between God and the liberated Hebrews. The covenant people of that era could not look upon Moses after he'd been in the tabernacle with God because they could not look upon him with their naked eye.

Paul, writing to the Corinthian saints, has said they ALL have unveiled faced AND they can all look at themselves in a mirror and see the glory of the Lord present in them because it is visible in their reflection. These ops, however, say the person looking in the mirror is seeing Jesus. That may be true by extension, but that is not what the verse itself states. A liberty has been taken with the verse and that liberty has not been justified or substantiated in any of the individual ops (I've read them all).

One of the important aspect of the tie-ins with Paul's epistolary content and the Mosaic experience as intermediary is that Moses walked into the tabernacle to be with God whereas the Christian is that tabernacle (1 Cor. 3:16). Jesus (Jn. 2:21) and the body of believers are the temple of God. We do not walk into and out of the temple or tabernacle like Moses and the old covenant Jew had to do. God does not dwell in houses built by human hands, nor is God in need of anything made by human hands (Acts 17:24-25).... we are the house of God that God Himsel built. These truths are part of the unveiling, constituent aspects of our unveiled faces upon which we can now look. In other words, as far as transformation goes, the transformation is also a given, not an option. We have been changed. We have been transformed to the point we can look at the glory of the Lord which is us.

The ops state we're seeing Jesus in the mirror. The logic employed is that because Jesus is the glory of God but that is not exactly what scripture teaches. The closest anyone will come to that position is Hebrews 1:3.

Hebrews 1:1-4
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And he is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When he had made purification of sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they.

Jesus is the radiance of God's glory, not the actual glory. Jesus is the exact representation, expression, or reproduction of God's nature. This is important because trinitarians will read these texts with ontological identity inherent in every word. To say Jesus is God's glory in any way that implies God does not possess glory in his own being or that God's glory is somehow, in any way, separate or separated from the Father (or Spirit) and found only in the Son leads to bad Theology, bad Christology, bad ecclesiology and it will also lead to bad soteriology and eschatology. It is, therefore, quite important that 2 Corinthians 3:18 be understood correctly. The exegesis and hermeneutics here are critical.

Because this post is lengthy, I'll conclude this portion with an observation and an inquiry, and then reiterate a previously made statement. The verse in question, 2 Corinthians 3:18, states we look as in a mirror (not actually looking into a mirror) at the glory of the Lord. Is that to be read as "LORD," or "Lord"? The glory of the Father, or the glory of the Son? The Greek word is "kyriou," the Greek term use for a lord, a master, an owner, or more generically a "sir," and more specifically (depending on context) the LORD. Throughout the epistolary (and Revelation) the Christian is called a "bondservant," someone whose debt has been bought and must then work off the debt, someone who (in the context of the gospel) who has had his period of endured service paid for and has pledged to serve his debt-buyer, or master, voluntarily out of love in perpetuity (I can explain that further for those not familiar with all the scriptures I just blew through in this paragraph). To put it succinctly, this is 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and 1 Peter 1:18-20.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body.

1 Peter 1:17-21
If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

In other words, Is Jesus the purchaser of our life, or is his Father the purchaser and the price the Father paid was the life of His Son? For the trinitarian this may be a difference without distinction, but it still necessarily informs the "Lord" and the "glory" observed by the saint looking at himself and the other saints as if looking into a mirror. I did not read anything in the series leading me to think the author is asserting cultic heresy but, having once (many decades ago) been a member of a Christian cult that taught the Christian is literally becoming Christ it is worth noting again that getting 2 Corinthians 3:18 correct is critical.

Case built on flawed premises end up being flawed cases and flawed cases necessarily lead to flawed conclusions. That is the essence of sound bibliography and hermeneutics. These ops have it wrong: we're not looking at Jesus; we're looking at God's glory in ourselves and each other.

John 8:54
Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who glorifies me.....

Philippians 2:5-11
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Through Jesus, we do not share only in God's glory, we are God's glory. When every knew bows every tongue will confess Jesus as Lord, but they will not all confess him as Savior. God is glorified either way, but the glory the redeemed manifest is unique and different. No other creature in heaven or earth is privileged with the salvation found only in the resurrected Son.

LGBTQ activists work to block child sex trafficking bill in California

I would agree...

However, laws like the one originally proposed, when worded vaguely, have been sweeping up 19/16 and 20/17 situations in the net, and gay people were getting the brunt of that at a disproportionately high rate despite the fact that it's just as common in hetero situations.

It'd be like saying that if Irish people were getting stiff DUI penalties when everyone else was getting a slap on the wrist (despite equitable rates of offense), and they protested the law and asked for a blanket relaxing of laws just to remove the disparity, and then someone replied dismissively with "oh, so Irish people think it's okay to drink and drive?!?"

No, they just wouldn't want their tribe to be the only ones getting the book thrown at them when everyone else gets to skate on it.
Look if that's really rhe problem they didn't need this law. What they needed to do was standardize sentences. If gya people are receiving harsher sentences then fix that. And you do t so that by allowing a 10 year difference. That just legalizes predator behavior, gay or not.

Take discretion out of the picture and make it 3 years and your done.

Activists are not looking for that though. They obviously wanted greater leeway to have sex with much younger teens. That's the point and that's what makes it sick. There were probably hetero pedophiles who also wanted this. But if someone is going to be at the forefront of of this then they are going to get the brunt of the criticism and in this case it's well deserved. There are far too many perverts who want to have sex with younger kids.

I am noting any politician who wants peace with Russia have been...

I was recently watching a video of the driver of the limo [which the CIA cut out] turned and shot JFK in the neck.
The Warren commissions magic bullet theory now makes sense of its fiction.
I read his policy regarding the missiles in Cuba from Russia and he was trying to negotiate peace.

Aside from Abraham who freed the slaves, there is a strange phenomenon with the left.
Attempted or completed assassinations, trying to bring peace with Russia.
JFK
RFK [to follow suit]
Reagan
Trump

I am so suspish

MAGA types have been criticizing The Lincoln Project for daring to continue to criticize Trump! But - first amendment much?

This is a characterization of the organization. This does not mean they are inherently false it means you disagree with their message. Have they been demonstrably false and untrustworthy in the information they .
Their message is false. Their message is illogical to me when they make claims about someone they claim is an autocratic dictator when that person has the support of multiple millions of grassroots Americans AND when that person has a proven track record from 2017 through 2020 of being absolutely NOT a dictator.
They want to change the nature of the court yes. Thwres nothing inherently wrong with that.

In what way have they done so by actually manipulating the system to make that happen.
Changing the amount of justices would give the POTUS and the Senate the ability to pack the court with justices whom agree with the ideologies of the current party in political power. You don't see anything wrong with that?
Thr "far left" only looks so gorgeous from where you stand. I mean thwre are a LOT of. Centrists and even some right wingers who were upset when Roe flipped.
I am unaware of any conservatives whom were upset that Roe vs Wade got flipped.
The behavior of the court itself has done that.
You don't have any problems at all with the political ranting and raving of politicians against the SCOTUS decisions with which they vehemently disagree? You really don't think doing stuff like that undermines the trust that some Americans have in the SCOTUS?

He's All You Need - Steve Camp

This song is probably one of the very first big hits in Contemporary Christian music for Steve Camp from waaay back in the day. The powerful lyrics are timeless and always applicable every time for Christians when we are feeling depressed, worried, or anxious about anything at all.
Totally agree. Thank God He is faithful even when we are not. We'd never make it otherwise!

Youth and vigor are MEANINGLESS

Life on this earth is but a vapor when compared to eternal life with our Lord God. I remember the words of a famous Baptist preacher from a few decades ago when he said, "Live in the light of eternity."
As for the younger generations such as the Millennials, Generation Z and all of the rest of the young adults in popular culture, there are tons of ample evidence out there that they value the energy, strength, and stamina much higher than they do the patience, and wisdom that all of us older adults have learned.

Pictured: Professor Michael Atar aka “Mr. Sepsis,” a financier and developing consultant on a new blood sepsis test.

A life-saving blood test that can detect sepsis in under ten minutes by squeezing white blood cells could be available in as many as 11 US states by the end of the year.

While you won’t hear many news headlines about sepsis, US researchers have hailed the development as one of the most important breakthroughs in modern medical history and a “turning point” in the fight against one of the world’s deadliest diseases.

The test works by forcing a small amount of blood through a tiny tube to see if the white, immune-fighting cells change shape.

ERLC’s Brent Leatherwood Criticized for Calling Biden’s Withdrawal From Election ‘A Selfless Act’

Brent Leatherwood, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), drew criticism for praising President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election. Leatherwood called it “a selfless act.”

The ERLC is a part of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). According to its website, the ERLC exists to help churches “understand the moral demands of the gospel, apply Christian principles to moral and social problems and questions of public policy, and to promote religious liberty in cooperation with churches and other Southern Baptist entities.”

“Together, we can bring hope to the public square—for the sake of the gospel,” the ERLC website says.

On Sunday (July 21), Biden announced via social media that he was withdrawing from the presidential election, saying, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

The Hard Reality of Disagreement in Marriage

Open disagreement between spouses, or even just not seeing eye to eye, can be very painful. It is also quite common. Central to the art of marriage is to be able to accept this while also addressing it.

Experience shows that it is to be expected. To some extent then, disagreement need not mean that anything has gone wrong. We do well to begin by recognizing that how we deal with disagreement is precisely a key feature of how we grow our marriage and as individuals; I’d even go so far as to say it is ‘natural’ and part of the plan. This should be a very heartening thought.

Of course certain deeper disagreements might cross a line of seriousness and call for intervention or other such remedies. But most of us will be within a range of discord, variance, or tension that is ‘normal,’ the addressing of which will be part of our daily labors. A few principles might be helpful.

Probably the single most important step is to take stock of just what the nature and causes of the disagreement are. Often the pain and difficulty of the situation inclines us to jump to conclusions and then wade in without really examining what is going on. A first key question is whether this is simply a divergence of thought in the abstract, or is this complicated by personal elements such as painful aspects of our past lives or of our marriage relationship itself? The former situation, where we come to different conclusions unencumbered by emotional freight, is much more straightforward. Here we have a great and not-as-difficult opportunity—that is, if we seize it—of listening and getting to know the mind of the other. Even this takes practice and intentionality.
