  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

3 U.S. Citizen children deported to Honduras, legal concerns raised -- deported "with no meaningful process" according to judge

Don't worry if Donald wins at supreme court over birthright citizenship they won't be citizens....
I'm thinking that even if Trump were to win (he won't) that the citizenship is grandfathered in to those already born.

The bigger problem though is all this immigrant hating and scapegoating that is occurring. Immigrants are not the source of much USA problems, though they could be the solution. The birthrate is so low that even to maintain population we need not only those babies born in America but we need immigrants.
To the U.S. citizen child with cancer, Honduras could be a death sentence if they can't get decent care. Similarly, if one approves of this type of action without court oversight, what about children going to other nations with the non-citizen father? There are nations where they would never be seen again on American soil. So hopefully the courts can step up their oversight.

Did angels actually fall?

Is genesis 6 valid to you?
Every Word of God is valid for all of us, insertions of fairytales notwithstanding or necessary
If god cannot be tempted why would he create evil?
The primary reason is Romans 11:32 in addition to commanding light to shine from darkness.

the Pope passes away and Klaus Schwab resigns from the WEF on the same day?

True, but I wanted to offer a little more detail.
And thanks for that.
But it's already going viral around the internet , and if the next Popes name is Peter maybe people will really start to believe it. Not everyone knows what you and a few others know , unfortunately.

Egalitarian resources to understand New Testament passages

I want to find explanations on Pauline texts that are about women, and what the Greek originally says.
Each of the six times Aquila and his wife Priscilla are mentioned by name in the New Testament, they are listed together as a couple. Their order of appearance alternates in a perfect odd-even equality, with each mentioned first three times. Aquila appears first in the first, third and fifth mentions, and Priscilla (Prisca) first in the second, fourth and sixth mentions.[13][original research?]

Some revisions of the Bible put Priscilla rather than Aquila first, in Acts 18:26, following the Vulgate and a few Greek texts.[14][original research?] Some scholars suggest that Priscilla was the head of the family unit.[15]

It is thought by some to be possible, in light of her apparent prominence, that Priscilla held the office of presbyter.[2] She also is thought by some to be the anonymous author of the Epistle to the Hebrews.[3]

Jesus and John the baptist

Yes, and Peter was present at and witnessed the Transfiguration-and yet would deny Jesus three times later. I think John just wanted to hear it from Jesus's lips. JMO.
He'd heard it from the Father and seen the Holy Spirit come down on Jesus. Christ Himself dispels any notion that John had any doubts after his disciples had left.
"What did you go to see, a reed blown by the wind?"
John knew he was about to die and yet there were still disciples clinging to him instead of following Christ. He had to make sure they recognised who Jesus was and not form a sect of their own after his own death.

How to find places near me where I can meet people?

You might not find someone involved with your interests, you might have to show an interest in theirs or be willing to learn new ones.
I agree and I used to be in a somewhat similar situation as the OP in the past with limited number of people I can be friends with so my only choice was to show interest in theirs and willing to learn new ones. It works quite well if you can adopt genuine interest in other people's interests.

Another option is to create your own group and invite and teach people to your interests.

For example if your hobby is "papercrafting", you can invite people to give lessons to those interested in the hobby.

Ofc, this is just an example and it's a lot easier said than done especially for introverts like myself.

I guess if the OP is considering the option to teach his interests to others, I think a good thing to do is just be yourself. If you think you're terrible at speaking to an audience then stay terrible! Just don't let your audience fall asleep. From time to time you drop a "grenade" (figuratively speaking) to shock those who are about to lose consciousness back to being wide awake and alert. It can be humor or any random loud noise like "accidentally" bumping the table or "accidentally" dropping something on the floor that makes a loud noise.

Im confused?

Please notice in Acts 9:6 SAUL , says WHO ate you LORD // KURIOS and means SIR , LORDSHIP , OWNER or MASTER

And in 1 Cor 12:3 says this , Therefore , I make known to you that NO ONE , speaking by God's SPIRIT , Jesus is

accursed , and NO ONE , is able to SAY , LORD JESUS , except by the HOLY SPIRIT .

When SAUL / PAUL said MASTER , he was acknowing that Jesus Christ was his MASTER and SAUL / PAUL was saved

in Acts 9:6 .

Today all are saved by the grace of God by Rom 10: 9 and 10 !!

FCC Chair Sports Gold Trump Lapel Pin

The Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, appeared with a golden pin featuring the image of Donald Trump on his jacket lapel. Australian activist Drew Pavlou compared the image of the U.S. President to that of Mao Zedong. "Welcome to MAGA Maoism," he concluded.
Did Biden or Obama get lapels made in their image and worn by officials?

I'm just looking forward to the large posters of Trump being placed on buildings around town, and his book "The art of the deal" becoming mandatory in schools, where kids need to read and recite from it everyday.

A Blessing Upon The Saints: "May The God Of Peace Be With You"

Philippians 4:
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do,
and the God of peace will be with you.

2 John 1:3 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from
the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Benediction
11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind,
live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
13 All the saints greet you.
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

I Have No Like-minded Man

Philippians 2:
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly,
that I also may be encouraged when I know your state.
20 For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.
22 But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father
he served with me in the gospel.

Throughout his epistles, Paul conveys a profound love for the Congregations he birthed and cared for. Yet there were few that he felt could be entrusted with sound doctrine. Because of his two letters to Timothy, we know quite a lot about his relationship with Paul. Another brother who plays an important role in Paul's ministry was Epaphras.

25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother,
fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and
the one who ministered to my need;
26 since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because
you had heard that he was sick.
27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him,
and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again
you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;
30 because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life,
to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.

Wow! Paul was not shy about making the pointed comment to a Congregation. While he acknowledged their concern for the well being of Epaphras, he also held them in his debt, as they could have relieved his burden.

In the circles where I have had fellowship, the role of Epaphras is referred to as being an armor bearer. I had the privilege of serving a missionary evangelist and his wife and five children for a season. There is a unique Anointing of intercessions in such a role, with the opportunity to witness your prayers bear fruit as you minister.

To be a laborer in the background is a powerful place of ministry, and many faithful wives have found themselves in such a place, and by their intercessions played a key role in "making the man".

Epaphras provides us a golden prayer of intercession, which can be found in the letter to the Colossians.
Colossians 4:
12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you,
always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand
perfect and complete in all the will of God
.
13 For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you,
and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis.
I have prayed this simple prayer thousands of times for the saints
throughout the world, and for all of you.

On How American Law, Works

I think you need to look at the presuppositions to USA law, which is based in English common law. The USA and its constitution and laws didn't get created from nothing.

Why do juries exist?
Where does "no taxation without representation" come from? (Americans often talk as if they come up with it, not that it was a central component of the British Civil War)
Why does the HoR have a speaker? Why does the HoR speaker get escorted to the chair?

Trump Directs Rubio to Effect Free Passage For US Ships Thru Canals

Just like the UK is an upstart Colony that the USA will take back!
Ha! The UK has never been American except during WWII when we saved them from Poland. My Aulstralian mother told me that the UK was founded as a prison colony for Aulstralian criminals.

How can I be completely certain that Jesus existed?

You've got many varied suggestions here schnauzer that sound good. Allow me to offer another avenue.

I do think that studying Christian apologetics would strengthen your faith - if you have an open mind to the evidence, choose your sources from a Biblical world view rather than secular, and actually want to seek God and truth. This can take years, covering the abundant material and multiple topics. But if you're interested, let me suggest 3 of my favorite presentations from 3 excellent teacher/preachers. It'll take some of your time and attention, but consider it a productive church sermon for your next 3 Sundays.

Bishop TD Jakes to hand over Potter’s House to daughter, son-in-law

Bishop T.D. Jakes announced at church on Sunday that he's handing over the leadership of The Potter's House megachurch in Dallas, Texas, to his daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts and son-in-law Touré Roberts.

“I cannot afford, especially after November, to risk something happening to me and you be sheep without a shepherd,” Jakes told his congregants at the end of his sermon. The news comes after he suffered a heart attack in November and filed a defamation lawsuitagainst a man who accused him of sexual assault.

“I cannot afford to let all the work of all the saints, living and dead, to hold this so tight so long that I wither away. So I'm suggesting to you, I'm recommending to you, that you receive Pastor Touré and Pastor Sarah,” he said to cheers and applause while noting that the move is a continuation of “legacy.”

So it happened again...

I still haven't heard from him he never added me back to discord. We're assuming he doesn't want to be friends with us anymore. We'vean been thinking about him too. I haven't tried adding him to my friends list and begun the friends process myself because well... I don't know. If he hasn't done it than he probably doesn't want to talk to us it's been almost a year since he removed us so it's pretty clear he wants nothing to do with us.

I've googled him several times to check if he was you know... still alive and he is so he's alive and well and that should be good enough for us. Still I wish he knew how much we miss him. We miss him a whole lot and I wish he was around to talk to. But of he doesn't want to be our friend anymore I can't force him I can only continue praying that he can one day find Christ and one day find happiness without us. That's all that my wife and I really wanted to accomplish for him was to bring a little joy into his life and I really hope we accomplished that because we both really, really loved and cared about him and still do.

If it turns out 1, 5, 10 years down the road he wants to look us up and be friends again we will always be there we promised him that.

ELCA will not remove conscience protections for gay marriage opponents: official

Eh? Sounds fair to me. Isn’t that similar to how the Episcopal Church has dioceses that don’t recognize it? Hmmm….

It is my understanding the Episcopal Church has ended conscience exemptions against same-sex marriage recognition at the synodical level, so I don't think it's quite the same. Though how that plays out for Episcopalians remains to be seen. At the diocesan level, I don't think much has changed. But then there are only a few diocese in the Episcopal Church where the majority of clergy are opposed to same-sex marriage.

Evangelical Lutherans have different dynamics going on. Many ELCA congregations take a moderate position where people agree to disagree, and try to extend grace to other perspectives on same-sex relationships. This is far more typical in that kind of Lutheranism on a range of other issues, whereas the Episcopal Church has more of a tradition of the episcopacy acting in a clearer prophetic or public theology role, with a transformational paradigm of engagement with culture. Whereas Lutherans are more accustomed to ambiguity.

Did Jesus sin by calling himself the savior of the world?

1) This isn't a necessary conclusion of Christian belief. We don't know that most people who have ever lived are among the reprobate or damned.

2) God isn't obligated to save anyone. Salvation is the result of grace.

3) Faith is about relational trust (trusting a person), it isn't about intellectual certainty, as if soteriology were a puzzle to solve.
Faith has content, and can be true faith or false faith.

If you are "trusting" Jesus to save you as you continue in your lifestyle of disobedience and sin, your faith is counterfeit and does not save.
