  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I feel suffering, sadness and disappointment all the time?

I don’t know where’s I’m going with my life.
But God does!
So I say again, just keep trusting Him, one day at a time.

Our main purpose in life is to love God.
Keep doing that, and I believe He will show you more purpose for your life.

Gout long term can cause neurodegenerative effects, disease, smaller brain volume and stroke.

Gout can also be a factor in brain cancer as fibroblasts and growth hormones are continuously compensating for the injuries in highly acidic intracranial fluid.

as well as circulating urate crystals can go into the lymphatic system and end up in the water lymphatic system of the eyes. I've been having the Didn't know what it was, until I uped up the sugar and desserts like I was still in my teens and started having darkened vision during up flow of uric concentration.

Uncontrolled gout can cause cataracts, due to continuous eye damage from urate. Also many report that allopurinol only post pones the processes of purine and fructose metabolism and is somewhat unaffective without solid dietary consistancy. It takes months for this stuff to deposit and crystalize through out the body, it'll take months for it to deformalize completely, and have a stable uric blood concentration. Usually people settle for the tip of the iceberg clearing up but never bother with whats still in the water.
Thus the increase in dose.

Did Jesus give Christian leaders right to use coarse political rhetoric?

A seasoned ministry colleague wrote to me last week asking for assistance. “I need some help with exegesis of Luke 13:31-32,” he said. “I spoke at a conference last week with many pastors who used that passage where Jesus calls Herod a fox as their rationale for using coarse language about Harris/Walz and the other political side. I was quite disturbed by the name calling and mocking from the pulpit, and I reproved them all when it was my turn to speak.”

He continued, “I was shocked that the pastors used that passage to justify their mocking and name calling from the pulpit, citing Jesus as our example. Do you, as a Messianic Jew, have any insight into the historical/contextual usage of ‘fox’ in 33 AD? I need to be able to answer pastor’s defense of their name calling using that passage.”

He then sent me an excellent response compiled by our mutual friend and colleague, Dr. Joseph Mattera.

Dr. Mattera explained, “The term ‘fox’ here carries connotations of craftiness, cunning, and deceit, but also weakness and insignificance compared to a lion or other more powerful animals. In ancient Jewish culture, calling someone a fox could imply that they are untrustworthy, deceptive, and sly, but it was not necessarily the most severe insult. It might also suggest that Herod, despite his political power, is insignificant in God’s larger plan.

Is Satan The Ruler of This World?

Until Christ’s second coming, this world remains at least partially under Satan’s authority because it remains enmeshed in sin. As 1 John 3:8 reminds us, “He who commits sin is of the devil.” For this reason the New Testament describes Satan variously as “the ruler of this world” (Jn 12:31), “the god of this world” (2 Cor 4:4), and “the prince of the power of the air” (Eph 2:2).

Nevertheless, believers have nothing to fear, since Jesus assures us that the devil is being cast out of this world (see Jn 12:31). Ever since Calvary, the evil one’s power over men has been broken: “[Christ] has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son” (Col 1:13).

Jesus captures this truth vividly in His parable of the strong man: “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil” (Lk 11:21-22).

The joy of the Gospel consists in the knowledge that Christ is the stronger man who has demolished the strongholds of the devil, liberating the souls caught in his snares. Although Satan remains the god of this world, his power is swiftly waning.

Like the white witch in C. S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the devil knows his winter is fast melting away. The Cross has sundered his power; hope is in the air. For a little while longer, the spiritual battle continues. But the Good News of the Gospel assures us that the stronger man is in control, and His Kingdom is coming soon.

No, your moderate amount of evil is not okay

Corey DeAngelis and the problem of a scandalous past

Corey DeAngelis, the man with the most effective voice for school choice and parental control of education, turns out to have been a gay porn actor. (You probably don’t want to know.)

What interests me about this story is not whether a cause, in this case, school choice and funding policies, can be right even if its proponents are hypocrites or have a terrible past, and it’s not about whether someone with a sketchy past can repent and work on the side of right (of course they can and should).

It’s about whether depraved acts can be okay for adults and not okay for kids. We need to figure this out, because our moral confusion is harming our children, even as we claim to be rescuing them.

Some things are good for adults, but not for children. Some book or movie themes are dark and children should be shielded from them; but they are not bad in themselves. We can follow Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina along her path to destruction through sin, but it’s not a story we want to tell children; it would deprive them of their peace, so important to their development. Some stories are dark through and through. Everyone should avoid them and their authors should be shunned until they change their ways.

Alcohol is acceptable for adults and not for children. A 200 lb. man can drink a few glasses of wine, but children shouldn’t be imbibing. And we ought to agree that drunkenness is not acceptable at any age.

An extraordinary statement from the world’s Orthodox leaders

Yesterday’s CWN headlines included a news story that our readers might have passed over lightly. In case they did, let me explain why it was worthy of notice.

Representatives of the Orthodox churches and the Oriental Orthodox churches met to discuss the cause of Christian unity. A causal reader might ask: So what? At first glance this looks like one more story about a meeting of ecumenical “experts,” a meeting likely to end in a statement that will express laudable goals but produce no concrete results. And since this was a “preparatory” meeting, intended to spur further ecumenical talks, I can easily understand skepticism about its immediate news value. But bear with me, while I explain the significance of the story.

What is Holy Matrimony — and why should it be protected as the primordial sacrament?

Today, Dr. Michael Dauphinais is joined by John Clark, author, political speech writer, and columnist for the National Catholic Register, to discuss the importance of recognizing the sacramentality of marriage. They address themes such as the primary purpose of marriage, its indissolubility, and how it was instituted. In their conversation, they also explore the insights from John Clark's book "Betrayed without a Kiss: Defending Marriage after Years of Failed Leadership in the Church," delving into the challenges facing marriage today and the need for strong leadership in its defense.

St. Francis dropped everything after hearing this strange voice

Today is Oct. 4, the memorial of St. Francis of Assisi.

In the readings for today’s feast, Jesus says: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Dreaming of becoming a great knight, Francis of Assisi was on his way to join papal troops in Apulia, on the East coast of Italy. In the middle of the night, a voice asked Francis, “Who is more important, the servant or the Master?” The question is a provocative one. It meant: Will you serve the things of this world or the things of heaven? Francis answered that “the Master” is more important. The voice then asked, “Why then do you seek the servant instead of the Master?”

Autistic Catholics find a voice: New support group fosters connection and belonging

Several Catholics have banded together to create a support system for Catholics on the autism spectrum. Autistic Catholics, an online resource and support group, kicked off this week with the group’s first online meeting.

Allen Obie John Smith, a Catholic convert who lives in Ridgway, Colorado, with his wife, is the founding executive director of Autistic Catholics. Inspired by his own experience with autism, Smith — who goes by his middle name, John — founded the group this past summer to help build fellowship among autistic Catholics while giving them a voice.

“I think my own experience of feeling alone as a diagnosed autistic person really contributed the most to the founding, and I knew I wasn’t alone in my feeling of isolation,” Smith told CNA.

'Journey to Bethlehem' director to release thriller about spiritual warfare: 'The devil does his best work in Hollywood'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Adam Anders has revealed he’s working on a thriller focused on spiritual warfare, a topic the "Rock of Ages" director said he’s become even more concerned about after working in Hollywood for decades, a place where “the devil does his best work.”

The 48-year-old director, who is also behind "Journey to Bethlehem" and “Dirty Dancing,” told The Christian Post that his next venture, set to be released by Lionsgate, departs from his usual music-driven projects and tackles a rarely explored topic in Hollywood — spiritual battles between good and evil.

“My next project is a thriller with Lionsgate next about spiritual warfare,” he said. “It’s going to be a huge movie. It's not a musical, which is crazy, but a great challenge. I’m very excited. I'm just writing it right now.”

Is it Inspired or is it a tradition without inspiration?

John 7:53-8:11 contains the story of the woman taken in adultery. Some bibles present it within, [[ and ]] others show it in italics and a few leave it out or relegate it to a footnote. Is it inspired scripture or is it something else?

John 7:53-8:11 NET [[And each one departed to his own house. (8:1) But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. (2) Early in the morning he came to the temple courts again. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach them. (3) The experts in the law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught committing adultery. They made her stand in front of them (4) and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. (5) In the law Moses commanded us to stone to death such women. What then do you say?” (6) (Now they were asking this in an attempt to trap him, so that they could bring charges against him.) Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger. (7) When they persisted in asking him, he stood up straight and replied, “Whoever among you is guiltless may be the first to throw a stone at her.” (8) Then he bent over again and wrote on the ground. (9) Now when they heard this, they began to drift away one at a time, starting with the older ones, until Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. (10) Jesus stood up straight and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” (11) She replied, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”]]

Hello, the following corresponding subject outlines show the texts subjects in symmetrical complete thoughts and reveal that any text that would leave John 7:53-8:11 out or cast doubt as to it's authenticity is in error and/or corrupt.

Here's more corresponding subject outline structures that show the harmony of the text and no one could just randomly place John 7:53-8:11 into the text because it's so interwoven in precision that no man could ever do such a thing with such skill and wisdom. Anyone who tells you that John 7:53-8:11 is not original to the biblical text is ignorant or outright clueless of the literary styles of the biblical texts that help lock in that which the spirit of God has inspired!

Did the Pope commit heresy?

I would agree with this statement in terms of seeking to avoid condemning the Pope, however, that being said, the fact that this is yet the latest of numerous instances where Pope Francis has done something like this, coming on the heels of the extreme confusion and righteous indignation engendered by Fiducia Supplicans last year, he should be urged to resign for the good of the church.
I would agree, though as I am not a Catholic it's not really my business who the pope is. And I don't think the mission of the Church depends on the PR of its officers no matter what level they attain, Christ will accomplish His purposes through His Church.

Did you not know that I must be in my FATHER's house?

Jesus was growing up. Lk 2:

41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom.
After the festival, Mary and Joseph headed back to Nazareth assuming Jesus was doing the same. When they realized he wasn't, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him.

46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
Jesus' intellect was maturing. At 12 years old, he was capable of debating with the temple teachers.

48 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father [G3962 πατήρ] and I have been searching for you in great distress.”
Naturally, Mary referred to Jesus' earthly father.

49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s [G3962 Πατρός] house?”
However, the boy Jesus referred to his heavenly Father. At age 12, Jesus knew he was the unique Son of God. Mary was thinking horizontally. The boy Jesus was thinking vertically.

50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them.
Even Mary and Joseph did not fully understand the concept.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
The boy Jesus was learning more and more about his calling even as he knew he was the Son of God.

Why did saint Paul write it that way?

I think the trouble is trying to draw direct doctrinal content out of a doxology...because Paul's focus is on God's praiseworthiness, he wrote in a way that considers things on an eternal basis and there's no reason to muddy it up by talking about human responsibilities in the matter. It's about what God has done and continues to do, because there is nothing that is outside of God's hands not even human choices. Taking that out and trying to create a systematic understanding of how salvation works is bound to create problems, because ultimately salvation is a mystery beyond understanding. In some way God chooses each individual believer, but that doesn't mean His choice invalidates the authenticity of our choosing Him. When praising God, we only need consider God's side of the equation and not our own.

I Hate my dad

Don't get me wrong, my dad just annoys me.
Well, I think my dad hates me because I'm "different" from birth, I guess. But let's get to the point. Often my dad either takes my things as a punishment which [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]es me off or complains about how bad everything is at home!. Yesterday he took my computer power supply because I said I didn't want to study. And yesterday I prayed for something to happen to him, for example: That he would get hit by a car, that someone would attack him, and generally that I would never see him again.
Welcome to CF. You sound young and in a typical friction with your father. While your feelings towards your father are most definitely concerning that being said, it's probably not that unusual. Your best solution is obedience! Remember, your father loves you even though it does not seem like it. He is charged with raising you to be the best man you deserve to be. It's a really hard job when their child is not willing to listen. So try something different. Obey. You will see a change in your feelings towards him and his attitude towards you. This is why God commands us to love and obey our parents, to make your life easier!
Be blessed.

The Way that God is Giving Us His Gift of Salvation

The text we use for the Seder comes from Messianic Jews in Israel. We looked at other texts, but this text nicely shows the importance of Christ’s death and resurrection along with the Exodus. It also contains interesting commentary on the history of the Seder. I understand that Messianic Christians in America and England celebrate the Passover in different ways. God bless them all. Unfortunately, I don’t have an electronic copy, and the Messianic Rabbi that gave us the text can no longer be contacted. Sorry for the spelling error. It should have been “matzah.” By the way, we also celebrate Easter. The Easter Bunny is not part of it, but colored eggs are nice.

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church | Sunday, November 3 | Download the church resources at www.idop.ca | Remember Her | Genesis 16:13

This year's International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) will be held on Sunday, November 3rd. We invite you to set some time aside on this day to prayerfully remember our Christian brothers and sisters around the world who share our faith but not our freedom. A full resource kit is available for free download to help you and your church pray more effectively. It includes a three-minute video, bulletin inserts, children's resources, sermon outlines, and more!
This year's theme is Remember Her. While all followers of Jesus can suffer for their faith, the various forms of persecution that Christian women face often look different than those encountered by Christian men. For women and girls, persecution is often complex, hidden and violent. It can be characterized by sexual violence and forced marriage, as well as by insidious, invisible abuse behind closed doors.
Let's pray for the members of our global family in Christ who are living with immense pressure due to their faith, and remember our Christian sisters in particular for the hidden persecutions they endure. For more information, visit IDOP Canada at IDOP.ca. To download the resource kit, visit VOMCanada.com/idop-resources.

PAKISTAN: Kidnapped Teen Forcibly Converted to Islam and Married

Sources: Morning Star News, ECSPE

A sad girl is in a dark room with a bit of light shining on her face.

Pray for the safety of girls in Pakistan.

A 16-year-old Christian girl in Jaranwala, Punjab, was kidnapped on September 12th before being forced to convert to Islam and marry one of her captors. On the day of the attack, Diya Iftikhar was at home with her four sisters. The family's neighbours state that they saw three armed men force Diya into a white Suzuki van, which then sped away. The men have since been identified as Ghazaal Jutt, Afzal Jutt and Ramzan Jutt.
Although Diya's parents reported the crime to the police immediately, any actions of response made by local officials have been delayed. Since the three abductors are reputed to be hostile towards Christians, the parents are not only concerned for Diya's safety but also that of their other family members. (These same three men were known perpetrators in the Jaranwala riots during August 2023. To review a previously posted report on this massive rioting incident, go to this page.)
On September 16th, four days after the kidnapping, the family received a video message from Diya via WhatsApp in which she claimed to have voluntarily converted to Islam and married Ghazaal Jutt of her own free will. However, the teenage girl's parents are convinced that their daughter was coerced into recording the video message. Additionally, Diya's mother states that the young woman "detested Ghazaal," for he and his friends had regularly harassed her.
This past summer, a legislative bill that deems it illegal for Christians in Pakistan to marry before the age of 18 was officially passed. One of the primary purposes of this bill is to prevent coercive marriages involving minors from taking place. However, this law is not applicable if a Christian minor converts to Islam prior to marriage. A further provincial law, which will raise the age of marriage for all people in Punjab, is presently pending. But until that law is passed, the legal age for Muslim girls remains at 16.
Unofficial statistics suggest that as many as 1,000 girls are victims of forced conversions and marriages each year in Pakistan. To review other previously published prayer alert reports concerning the suffering of Christian women and girls in this South Asian nation, go to our country profile.
Please remember Diya in your prayers during the days to come, specifically interceding for her need of protection, strength and comfort – physically, spiritually and emotionally – as she deals with this terrible situation. Also prayerfully uphold Diya's family members as they desperately seek legal justice on her behalf. May the Pakistani authorities work diligently to return this precious teenage girl to her concerned family and ensure the perpetrators responsible for committing these crimes are duly held accountable.

IRAN: Imprisoned Christians Released!

Sources: Article18, AsiaNews, Middle East Concern, Open Doors UK

Anooshavan Avedian & Mehdi Yasser Akbari

Pastor Anooshavan Avedian and Mehdi "Yasser" Akbari
Photos: Article 18

With thankfulness to God for His faithfulness, we are pleased to announce that the following two believers, both of whom were imprisoned for their faith in Iran, have been released during recent days:
Pastor Anooshavan Avedian was arrested in 2020 and charged with spreading "propaganda contrary to and disturbing to the holy religion of Islam." In 2022, an Iranian court convicted and sentenced him to ten years in prison. The pastor officially began serving his sentence in the notorious Evin Prison as of September 18th, 2023.
On September 24th of this year, an appeals court acquitted Pastor Anooshavan of all charges and ordered that he be released from prison. Upon his release, the Christian leader was reported as being excited and glad. He was also deeply relieved to learn that everyone in his family had been doing well. For background reports published by VOMC regarding Pastor Anooshavan's case, go to this page.
Mehdi "Yasser" Akbari, a single parent of a disabled son, was arrested in 2019 on charges of "acting against national security" – a common accusation used against Iranian Christians. After being sentenced to ten years in prison, Yasser had been taken into custody and his son was sent to a facility where he sadly passed away in 2021. Despite Yasser's pleas to the authorities, he was not allowed to be present for his son's burial. See more details about this heartrending situation.
After Yasser had served more than four years in prison, judicial officials of the country's Supreme Court agreed to hear his case in April 2024. As a result of this most recent hearing, the Christian man's sentence was reduced to four years and five months. On September 29th, Yasser had finally received permission to leave the prison as a free man! Just outside of the Evin Prison facility, his elated family members joyfully greeted him. Joining in this momentous event was Mehdi Rokhparvar, a fellow Iranian believer who had formerly been imprisoned because of his faith but released last year.
Praise God that these imprisoned believers have been released from custody! Pray that the court officials will likewise respond impartially when hearing the cases of other innocent Christians who are serving time in various prisons across this Middle Eastern nation. May these presently incarcerated followers of Jesus be safely released as well. In general, please continue to pray for the ongoing ministry of all our Iranian brothers and sisters in Christ as they courageously reach out to those around them with God's love – seizing opportunities to speak of the blessed hope and joyous spiritual freedom that are readily available through faith in Jesus.
