My friends who are voting for Trump - I have an honest question for you.

Can you express why you are supporting your candidate without mentioning Kamala? What does he stand for, what has he accomplished that garners your vote?
Not really. I'm pretty much voting against the Democrats.
Trump is not my favorite.
I think he will try to do something about the refugee/illegal alien problem and that's reason enough to vote for him

This Sunday’s Gospel: God Had the Holy Eucharist In Mind All Along...

Jesus brings his listeners to a turning point in his own “Eucharistic Congress” on the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C.

In five straight Sunday Gospels after the National Eucharistic Congress, the Church is reading from the Sixth Chapter of John’s Gospel. In the first, Jesus took the food a boy gave him and multiplied it like a new manna, to show his power and to prepare for the Eucharist. In the second, he answered the doubts of the crowd with strong testimony suggesting he is a new Moses — and more. He commanded: “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”

This Sunday is the third in the series, and Jesus starts to spell out something entirely new and shocking.

Given that their one job is to believe, Jesus’s audience gets off to a really bad start.

Double Standards?

What justifications does the government have for placing Tulsi Gabbard on some kind of travel watchlist?
The TSA is notoriously arbitrary yet secretive about their policies but besides getting extra scrutiny which most of us have had to endure at least once what is the big deal? She got searched before boarding and then she was allowed to fly.

You didn’t answer my question - what was the double standard?

It’s Time for a Christian Neorealism in Cinema

ON FILM: Lessons From the Summer 2024 Movie Season

Post-World War II Italy was a place of abject societal decay. Everywhere, there was unthinkable poverty and brokenness — and the added shame of having been on the wrong side of the war, which meant the side of Hitler and death camps and Gestapo mass executions of neighbors and friends.

The formerly elite community of Italian filmmakers who are given credit for having birthed art cinema had to come to grips with the fact that the state-sponsored cinema was over. They had no money and, because most of the studios had been bombed out, nowhere to shoot movies. Even more, as artists who survived so much horror, they were driven to process the big questions about life and meaning.

The answer for Italian cinema in the 1940s and ’50s was a movement called “neorealism.” Constrained by the lack of resources, it was a stripped-down storytelling, usually without sets, effects or glamorous actors. Their themes were serious: What is man? How do we reckon with the devastating failures of secular society?

Some of the most powerful and influential movies of the 20th century came out of this movement, including the heartbreaking classics Rome, Open City, and Bicycle Thief.

Finding Peace of Mind in Troubled Times

Fr. Dwight Longenecker

If you’re like me you look at the news today and remembering the events of the last five years, you wonder what next? Wars and rumors of wars, race riots, political instability, a pandemic, religious uncertainty, the disintegration of marriage, skyrocketing levels of addiction, suicide, abortion–broken families, broken hearts, broken lives…

If you spend too much time on social media or online news you are having the bad news shipped into your life from around the world instantly. So how to find peace of mind in troubled times?

First thing is pray more. Prayer has practical benefits as well as eternal consequences. Prayer turns your mind to eternal things. You’re focussing on the big picture and knowing that there is a larger and more loving plan for the world–one that transcends the everyday troubles and trials. In fact, that greater plan is always operating in and through the troubles–the Planner always bringing good out of evil.

Shock: Sydney Catholics mourn horrific knife attack

I was looking at other YouTube videos tonight, mainly Christian songs, when this video popped up.

It shows Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, who was the Assyrian Orthodox bishop attacked, giving a homily on the nature of Christ.

I gather this sermon was about a month before the attack.

Anyway if you want to see the bishop in action he's in the following link.

Stolen Valor? Harris Campaign Scrubs Walz Bio

Democrat VP candidate accused of misrepresenting military rank and combat experience—and not for the first time.

The U.S. Democratic Party had barely announced the name of Kamala Harris’ running mate when serious questions about his credentials surfaced. Tim Walz, presented on the campaign website as “the son of an Army veteran and a retired Command Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard himself,” came under fire when it came to light that he did not, in reality, ever hold that rank. The campaign has since rephrased that section of the VP candidate’s bio on its website, saying he “served at the command sergeant major rank.”

In interviews, Walz has described himself as a “retired sergeant major.”

What’s in a title? Well, quite a bit.

Misrepresenting military credentials is—in addition to potentially violating federal law—one of the most politically damaging things a candidate for office can do in the United States. For a candidate touted as representing lower and middle class ‘flyover country’—the demographic traditionally providing most of the servicemen for the armed forces—doubly so. And it’s not the first time Walz has been challenged on this point. Already in 2009, when Walz was a U.S. congressman, a vet confronted his staff with the accusation of “stolen valor.”

When Walz ran for Minnesota governor in 2018, two retired guardsmen wrote in a letter published in the West Central Tribune:

Supreme Knight summons a new generation of Catholic men

(OSV News) — The “days of easy faith are over,” and a “new generation of Catholic men” are needed in the Church, said the head of the Knights of Columbus at the global Catholic fraternal organization’s annual gathering.

Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly of the Knights of Columbus addressed more than 2,500 fellow Knights — along with their families, special guests and close to 60 bishops and cardinals from around the world, including Cuba, Korea, Nigeria, the Philippines and Ukraine — at the fraternal organization’s 142nd Supreme Convention, which took place Aug. 6-8 at the Quebec City Convention Center in Quebec City in the Canadian province of Quebec.

Founded in 1882 by Connecticut parish priest Blessed Michael McGivney, the Knights of Columbus now count more than 2.1 million members in over 16,800 local councils globally. In 2023, the Knights donated over 47 million service hours and more than $190 million to those in need.

Jonah, Nineveh, and the eclipse of 763 BC

I recently watched a YouTube Video, here, from a channel named Expedition Bible. I have not watched enough of this channel to determine the overall scholarly integrity of the presenter, but his presentation of the facts seemed to stand for itself. The overall subject of the video is how Biblical dating can be supported through archaeology. But what interested me was his discussion of a possible correlation between the story of Jonah and Nineveh and an eclipse.

Relevant facts:
  • Assyrian chronologies have been discovered (see original translated source here) showing that in 763 BC, in the year with eponym Esdu-sarabe, it is stated "Revolt in city of Assur, in month of Sivan, sun was eclipsed." (see page 63 in above source).

  • It is possible to date past eclipses, and it is known that in the area of Nineveh, there was an eclipse on June 15, 763 BC. And, actually, I think that eclipse was used to link the Esdu-sarabe year mentioned above to 763 BC. In this web site there is an artist's rendition of what the eclipse would have looked like in Nineveh. And at this website there is a graphic showing the path of the eclipse just north of Mosul, the modern name of the area for former Nineveh.

  • Next is to determine the dating of Jonah. The book of Jonah, itself, doesn't seem to contain any dating links. But Jonah is mentioned as being a prophet during the reign of of Amaziah in Judah and Jeroboam in Israel:

2 Kings 14:23 "In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Jehoash king of Israel became king in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years. 24 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit. 25 He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Dead Sea,[e] in accordance with the word of the Lord, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher." (map of Jonah's home town Gath Hepher.)

Here is a graphic timeline showing prophets and the kings of Judah and Israel, though it doesn't have any references for the sources of information. This site has a chronology table of the kings of Israel that includes Jeroboam's (Jeroboam II) dates of reign: 782/781-753 BC. And this link shows chronology of the kings of Judah that includes Amaziah's dates of reign: 796/795-767. Here is another chart: Wikipedia timeline of the kings of Israel and Judah.
So to conclude: Jonah seems to have been God's prophet at the time of the 763 BC Eclipse, and it is recorded that God sent Jonah to Nineveh, and also that the city repented. It is conjecture as the the EXACT timing. I.e. did Jonah show up BEFORE the eclipse? AFTER the eclipse? But the fact that the entire city repented gives weight to the fact that there was something in addition to Jonah's words that motivated everyone. Perhaps it was just the story of Jonah being swallowed by the fish, but if there was an eclipse, that would give even more weight to his words.

What do you think?

Are the worms and fire used to torment living people? (Rethinking Mark 9:48)

Hell
Worms and Fire
Mark 9:48
Many Christians believe that the worms and fire that Jesus mentions in Mark 9:48 are being used to torment living people in hell forever. That is certainly a terrifying thought. Being burned with fire is extremely painful. Being eaten from the inside by worms is terrifying and would also be agonizing. And then if one thinks about these things going on for days, and then years, and then hundreds and thousands and millions of years on and on for eternity - well, it is terrible.
But is that what Jesus meant? I think he meant something different. I think he was referring to worms and fire consuming dead bodies and turning them to dust and ashes. What do you think? Why?

There are different types of fire in the scriptures, not all of them destructive. The burning bush that didn't destroy it from the O.T. or the ministers a flame of fire from Hebrews come immediately to mind. Even the testing/trial fire from Paul in 1 Cor. Fire is then, in scripture, a spiritual typology subject that can be broken down into categories that have different meanings and different works, some good, some destructive (short version.)

Worm, same general discourse as above.

Most of these association or typology terms need to be reverse engineered from the O.T. where they were deployed and often in the N.T. elaborated upon. Put them all in a package. Break down the meanings into categories. It's quite fun for those who are into the Word.

In general, it's not always and only bad. Just as fire in the natural. It can serve multiple purposes. In scripture these purposes are Divinely Directed, so we should learn from the examples, and not fear to hear His Words, whatever meanings they bring. Man shall "live" by every Word of God, so there should be only Godly fear involved, and for our benefits.

Faithful to His Design

According to Acts 2, there is no explicit mention of specific prophecies or words of wisdom spoken by women on Pentecost.
Pentecost and Women and Men Prophesying

“Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away. 13 And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James. 14 All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.” (Acts 1:12-14 ESV)

“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4 ESV)

“And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”

14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15 For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:

17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servants and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.” (Acts 2:12-18 ESV)

What this is saying is that those who were present on the day of Pentecost who were filled with the Holy Spirit, and who began to speak in other people’s languages so that they heard them speaking in their own languages, included males and females. Some people mocked them and accused them of being filled with (drunk with) wine, so Peter spoke on their behalf and he stated that what had just taken place was to fulfill the prophecy of the prophet Joel who said that in the last days that God would pour out his Spirit on all flesh, and that their sons and their daughters would prophesy. So the indication here is that this is what had taken place on the day of Pentecost, that both the men and the women were prophesying, as in speaking God’s messages to the people as led by the Holy Spirit.

Struggling

I think one good thing is that you are getting better and better. Another thing is, try to bring some positive activities and influences in your life. Try to keep your mind busy with positive, good, and wholesome activities that you like. Maybe a hobby, or music, or painting, or exercising... A good way of getting rid of the darkness some times is to just simply introduce some light. These should be activities that you really enjoy. I will pray for you. Also, will pray for a good companionship for you. Do you attend church, or maybe Zoom call service of a church. Somewhere, where you will be able to meet people and interact?
God bless.

Dear Lord, Teach Me

Dear Lord, teach me what You want me to learn.
Please teach me, Lord, how Your will to discern.
Give me knowledge, Lord, of what I should pray.
Help me to live for You throughout each day.

Trials do come. They are testing my faith.
Give me understanding, help me today.
Be near to me, Lord, and comfort my heart.
May I not stray from You, never depart.

Life has its ups and downs, never the same.
Enemies come at me. I call Your Name.
You hold my future. It’s all in Your hand.
Now on Your Holy Word I take my stand.

The peace of my Lord now rules in my heart.
The joy of the Lord now each day to start.
The comfort of Christ there with me each day.
In time spent with Him I bow and I pray.

The Fragrance of the Knowledge of Him

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 2:14-17 ESV)

A triumphal procession is a celebration of great victories. In this context these are spiritual victories over our enemy Satan, and over the flesh, and over sin, and over anything opposed to God and to his righteousness and holiness. And these victories are ours through genuine God-persuaded and God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Because of what Jesus did for us on that cross we can now die with him to sin and be raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness (1 Peter 2:24; Romans 6:1-23).

But these victories are not of the flesh, but of God. So it is God who leads us in Christ in these victories as we cooperate with him in his work of grace in our lives. For we have to follow him and his leading. We have to go where he sends us, and to do what he commands, and to say what he gives us to say, if we are going to have these victories. And we must be those who are spreading the Good News of the gospel of our salvation to the world around us, but we must make certain that we are spreading the truth, not the lies.

So, what is the truth of the gospel that we are to be spreading? Jesus said that if anyone would come after him he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin and to self) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to our old lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for Jesus’ sake we deny self, die daily to sin, and follow him in obedience, then we have the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God. But we must stay the course until the very end, the Bible teaches us.

[Lu 9:23-26; Matt 7:21-23; Matt 24:9-14; Jn 6:35-58; Jn 15:1-11; Rom 1:18-32; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14,24; Rom 12:1-2; Rom 13:11; 1 Co 1:18; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; 1 Co 15:1-2; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; 2 Tim 1:8-9; Heb 9:28; 1 Pet 1:5; Gal 5:16-21; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:5-17; 1 Pet 2:24; Tit 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; Heb 3:1-19; Heb 4:1-13; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

Now, when we are spreading the knowledge of Christ and of his gospel to the world around us, including to all who profess faith in Jesus Christ, we are the aroma (fragrance) of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. And please note that this says, “being saved,” for our salvation is not a one-time deal and now we are good to go regardless of how we live. Our salvation is progressive, and it is dependent upon us walking in obedience to our Lord in holy living and us no longer making sin our practice, from now to eternity (see above Scriptures).

And in this context, “aroma” is being used more metaphorically to mean the knowledge or character or distinctive marks of who Christ is and of what he taught and of why he came to the earth. We as his followers are to be his representatives in sharing who Jesus is, but not in words only, but in our actions, by our example. Now this is not a claim to perfection, as Jesus was perfect, but our lives should reflect who Christ is and what he has called us to be and to do. It should be apparent that we have been with Jesus.

Now to those who are genuinely “being saved,” i.e. who are walking in obedience to the Lord in holy living, and who are no longer walking in sin, by God’s grace, what we share with them, if what we are sharing is the truth of the Scriptures, should be an encouragement to them. And to encourage is not just all the “feel good stuff” that people like to hear, but it is sharing with them the truth that can save their souls from hell, and which teaches them how they should live as followers of Christ.

But to those who are perishing in their sins – which includes those who are making professions of faith in Jesus Christ but who are still living in deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord (see Scriptures above) – they will not find encouragement in our words unless they are ready to receive them and to follow Jesus in obedience to his commands. For they don’t want to be confronted with their sins and called to repentance, to the forsaking of their sins, and to walks of obedience and surrender to Christ as Lord.

But all this is dependent on us being those who speak the truth of God’s word in love to the people, who are teaching the word in its appropriate context, and who are not altering and diluting the truth to make it more palatable to human flesh, as so many people are doing these days. For we need to be people who are honest, sincere, and obedient to our Lord to do what he has commissioned us to do as his servants and messengers. And so we must be careful to teach the Scriptures in context so that we don’t end up teaching a false gospel taken from Scriptures taught out of context.

Your Life

In Colossians, chapter 3, Paul gave us instructions from the Lord on how to live holy lives unto God. We are to set our minds on Christ and on heavenly things, not on the things of this earth. For we died, and our lives are now hidden in Christ. Christ is now our life, not just part of our life.

We are to put to death the things of our old sin nature. We are not to walk in the ways we once did when we followed the sinful passions and desires of our hearts. We are not to lie to ourselves or to others. Instead we should show kindness and compassion. We should forgive others as Christ has forgiven us. Over all, we are to put on love.

Your Life

An Original Work / October 22, 2011
Based off of Colossians 3:1-17

Set your hearts and minds
On things up above
Where Christ sits with God;
Not on earthly things.
For you died and your life
Is now hidd’n with Christ.
When Christ, who is your life, is seen,
You will be with Him.

Your sins, put to death.
Don’t walk in these ways.
Don’t lie to yourselves
Or to others, too.
Since you have taken off
Your old sinful past;
Put on the new self in Jesus,
Get rid of such things.

Therefore, holy ones,
Put on gentleness;
Kindness; patience, too;
Be compassionate.
Bear with one another;
Forgive others, too.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
O’er all, put on love.

Let the peace of Christ
Rule in your hearts now.
You were called to peace.
Be ye so thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell
In you richly now
As you teach and instruct others;
Sing songs unto Christ.

Spoken: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Col. 3:17 NIV 1984).

Forgive and Comfort the Repentant

“Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you. For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough, so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything. Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ, so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.” (2 Corinthians 2:5-11 ESV)

The situation being referred to here appears to be the one talked about in 1 Corinthians 5:1-13. A man within the gatherings of the church was evidently in an incestuous relationship with his father’s wife (his mother or his step-mother). And the church was glad and was ignoring the situation. And so Paul instructed the church to exercise church discipline on the man and to remove him from the fellowship of the believers. And the goal of this action was that the man would be brought to repentance to save his soul from hell.

And they were to no longer be in fellowship with the man in order to shame him, for they were to “Purge the evil person from among you.” And it appears that they did as they were instructed. But now Paul was instructing them to forgive the man and to comfort him so that the man would not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. And now they were to reaffirm their love for him. So it also appears that the man, thus, had repented of his sin of incest (sexual immorality), and so God had forgiven him of his sin.

Now it helps us to picture this if we can understand the situation they were in during that time period, in contrast to our time period. For the church was the body of Christ made up of all who were of genuine faith in Jesus Christ, who had died to sin and who had been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. But the church in Corinth was the whole body of Christ in the entire city. And they were all under the same elders/overseers.

Now they didn’t all meet together in one huge building, as far as I understand, but they met from house to house and in the temple courts, which were open to the Gentiles. And they probably met wherever they could find places to meet, and they met daily, not just one day a week. And all of them who were of genuine faith in the Lord had gifts of the Spirit and were to be given opportunities within their gatherings to where they could all minister encouragement and exhortations to one another.

So, for them it wasn’t like it is for us here in America, anyway, where every congregation of what is called “church” is separate, one from the other, and under different authorities and church denominations. So, in America, if a church congregation in any particular city exercised such biblical discipline upon its members who were engaged in gross sexual immorality, the offending parties could just go to a “different church” where they would be accepted and not be disciplined at all for their sinful behaviors.

But in the time of Paul, where the church was all believers in Christ in the entire city under the same elders/overseers (my understanding), if the entire body of Christ in that city exercised that kind of church discipline on the man, he would be shunned by all the Christians in the city, and he would have nowhere else he could go. And so this would definitely put much pressure on the man and he would have felt punished to the point of either repenting of his sins or else just rejecting God and the church altogether.

Now, that may seem harsh to some people today who did not grow up in that culture, but we have the opposite situation in the church in America today where sexual immorality is running rampant in the gatherings of the church (or the false church). And it appears that few congregations are exercising such biblical discipline on the offending parties, and so the cancer has been allowed to spread throughout the church. If any church does anything, it is often to supply a support group for the addicted to sin.

But our Lord disciplines those he loves so that we will live godly and holy lives in accord with his will and purpose for our lives, just like godly parents discipline their children so that they do not end up wild and out of control. So, exercising true biblical discipline in such cases is not cruel to the offending parties. What is cruel is ignoring the situation and doing nothing so that human lives and marriages and families are being destroyed by this evil cancer of sexual immorality which is permeating the church.

But what this also teaches us is the importance of forgiveness. Now I believe the Scriptures teach that we must forgive even if the offending parties do not repent of their sins, but that is largely for the benefit of the ones who do the forgiving, because if we do not forgive others it will eat away at us like a cancer inside of us and it will kill us from within. But this forgiveness is not approving of others’ sins and it does not mean we should be in fellowship with those we know are living in sin. But it is us not getting even with them.

Yet the kind of forgiveness that God offers to us and that these Christians were now to offer to this man was a forgiveness that involved restoration to the body of Christ because the man had repented of his sins. For when we truly repent of (turn from) our sins to follow our Lord in obedience to his commands, he does forgive us, and he will bring us into fellowship with him, provided that our repentance is genuine. And if God, who is sinless, forgives us, we who are born into sin should thus forgive others their sins.

[Matthew 6:14-15; Matthew 18:21-22; Mark 11:25; Luke 6:37-38; Luke 11:4; Luke 17:3-4; 2 Corinthians 2:5-7; Colossians 3:12-13]

$10M cash withdrawal in 2017 drove secret probe into whether Trump took campaign money from his "favorite dictator": El-Sisi of Egypt

If it occurred i hope there is solid evidence. I would think that over that many years this would be wrapped up. Also from what i can tell the statute of limitations is 5 years on straight bribery or federal campaign finance laws.
I dunno if advertising that a person is smart enough to evade prosecution by relying on the “statute-of -limitations”, really sends the message that you seem to think it does?

Donald Trump's Story of his Helicopter Ride, is Fiction

If they were with strangers they may not remember those faces. If they were with acquaintances, I'd expect them to remember...unless they were suffering dementia. And even people suffering dementia tend to retain long-term memories better than short-term memories.
AI Overview

Traumatic events are encoded differently than everyday experiences, and people often recall them differently. This is because traumatic memories can get stuck in the amygdala's emotional memory instead of the hippocampus, which records details like the time, place, and what happened. Trauma can also make it difficult to integrate events episodically, which can make it hard to remember things like dates and locations. For example, a trauma survivor might remember a smell, like smoke or cologne, but not the time of day.
