  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Brothers of hostages held by Hamas for over 500 days still holding onto hope

WASHINGTON — Gal Gilboa-Dalal and Ilay David, the older brothers of a pair of friends who have been held captive by the terror group Hamas for over 500 days, refuse to give up hope that their loved ones will return home.

Gilboa-Dalal and David, the brothers of hostages Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Eviater David, were among several speakers who addressed a crowd of attendees at the Washington Hebrew Congregation last Tuesday for a national prayer event.

The night of prayer marked 500 days since Hamas attacked civilians in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, slaughtering around 1,200 people and seizing over 240 others as hostages.

Trump administration fires DOJ lawyers who were assigned to work on criminal investigations of the president

That may have been possible 20 years ago but the other side has become so extreme and radicalized that they don't even sound like they are Americans.
Yeah, the democrats have really gone around the bend over the past several years. Maybe it is time for them to die a quiet death.....go the way of the No Nothing Party.

Tree of Life in Genesis and Revelation

Genesis 2:

9 The LORD God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Two trees stood in the center of the Garden: one gave life, the other death. Each represented an option for Adam and Eve. Unfortunately, they disobeyed and ate from the tree, which caused death.

Genesis 3:

24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
Man no longer had access to the Tree of Life. Many years later, God sent Jesus to undo this. In the future, after Jesus' return, we will again see the Tree of Life, Revelation 2:

7b To everyone who is victorious, I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.
Paradise will be restored. There will not be any temptation to eat from the wrong tree. We will be blessed, Revelation 22:

14 Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life.
Access to the Tree of Life will be restored.

Symbolically, the Tree of Life serves as bookends for the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

People are born with a sinful nature. Why does God still judge us?

God does not condemn us for our sinful nature, John 3:

On the contrary, because I have a sinful nature, there is all the more reason to humble myself and depend on God's salvation.
The only way it makes any sense for God to condemn someone is if he or she has free will and uses his or her free will to decide to reject Christ and refuse to repent of his or her sins. It certainly makes no sense to condemn someone for not believing in Christ if he or she is not even capable of doing so.

German Election 2025 results

The German elections have been held now and the preliminary results are in.

With vote counting finished, preliminary results show the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) led by chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz and its sister Christian Social Union (CSU) won the election.

CDU/CSU finished with slightly over 28% of the vote, while AfD, supported by Elon Musk, had around 20% of the vote. The other parties have ruled out any sort of cooperation with AfD. The article listed contains breakdown of voting based on location, age, gender and education and it's quite an interesting read in my opinion.

Merz, whose party won, talked about the need for greater European cooperation and also had some choice words about Musk and the current USA administration on Sunday.

"I have absolutely no illusions about what is happening from America," Merz said during a televised debate on Sunday night. "Just look at the recent interventions in the German election campaign by Mr. Elon Musk — that is a unique event. The interventions from Washington were no less dramatic and drastic and ultimately outrageous than the interventions we have seen from Moscow. We are under such massive pressure from two sides that my absolute priority now really is to create unity in Europe."

Love the Lord your God with all your HEART and MIND

Moses wrote in De 6:

5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Strong's Hebrew: 3824. לֵבָב (lebab) — 252 Occurrences

H3824 was polysemantic. BDG:

  1. the inner man in contrast with the outer
  2. comprehending mind, affections and will
  3. specific reference to mind
Jesus said in Luke 10:

27 He answered, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’.
Unlike H3824, G25888-heart did not necessarily include the G1271-mind.

Did Jesus add the word "mind" to Moses?

No, Jesus explicitly brought out the meanings in the original Hebrew into two Greek words.

On the Administration, and Climate Change

It seems that the president is barring American scientists from working on the
next reports on climate change.

"The US had been highly involved in planning for the next installment of the report due out in 2029 from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the world’s leading scientific authority on climate change."

"The immediate effect is that U.S. scientists won’t be at an IPCC meeting in Hangzhou, China, this week to plan a new global climate assessment, at least not in an official capacity. Exactly what benefit the White House sees in restricting scientists from directly participating in the assessment isn’t clear though it’s in keeping with the range of executive orders from Trump reversing federal policies on climate change. Those include efforts to pull back funds distributed by the Biden Administration for clean energy projects, the elimination of tax credits for electric vehicles and ordering agencies such as the EPA and Interior Department to prioritize oil and gas production.

A rapidly heating planet poses profound challenges for the foreseeable future, a reality embraced by all developed nations for years–including the U.S. until very recently. In its most recent assessment, the country’s Global Change Research Program–the same scientists now barred from working with international colleagues–pulled no punches."
---------- ----------

For Christians, there is so much rigorous information pointing to climate change due to
pollution, that Christians who continue to deny this, NOT ONLY have to project their
own and innacurate reality, but THEY ALSO have to adopt a view of Epistemology that
(truth) is not based on our shared reality, but on personal and individual projections.

Of course, this sort of personal projection, is not compatible with Christianity, and a
core command "You shall not lie". It is mainly the anti-intellectual Christian groups that
continue to deny the goodness of the intellect, to examine and come to logical
conclusions, based on objective reasoning methods.

Trump to shut down all 8,000 EV charging ports at federal govt buildings; sell off or warehouse EV fleet

I'm starting to really wonder how deeply the KGB then GRU appealed to Trump's narcissism. Wasn't there a holiday he took to Moscow - then shortly after he returned he took out a full page ad in a major newspaper saying how he disliked America funding NATO and loved tariffs? This was way back in the day. Ex KGB Officers say Trump was the perfect mark.

Just how far does the western world have to fall before someone invokes the 25th?
That's up to the VP and a majority of the cabinet.

So....never.

Well, unless JD is planning on a power grab.

Warn them before God against QUARRELING about WORDS

2 Timothy 2:
14 Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.
Was Paul against word study and lexical analysis?
No, Paul wrote earlier in 1 Timothy 6:
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing.
Paul was against self-conceit and unhealthy controversy:
He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words,
What's wrong with quarrels about words?
which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5a and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth.
Watch out for these negative consequences when arguing about words.
Where do we draw the line between proper hermeneutics and foolish arguments?
Check the heart attitudes of the participants. Is there peace inside and outside? Peace is the line. When one crosses it, he is entering the territory of foolish arguments.
Paul’s warning against quarreling about words is not a prohibition against careful study or theological discussion. Rather, it is a call to approach such discussions with humility, love, and a focus on godliness. The line between proper hermeneutics and foolish arguments is drawn by the presence or absence of peace—both internally (in the heart) and externally (in relationships). When peace is lost, it’s a sign that the discussion has veered into unhealthy territory. As believers, we are called to pursue truth in a way that builds up the body of Christ and reflects the character of our Savior.

Jesse begat David the king. Next: David begat Solomon by Uriah's

NASB 1995 Matthew 1:

6 Jesse was the father of David the king. David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah.
Berean Literal Bible:

and Jesse begat David the king. Next: David begat Solomon, out of the [wife] of Uriah,
The word "wife" is not in the original Greek and the name Bathsheba is not mentioned.

Matthew didn't have to mention Uriah in this genealogy but he did. Why? Besides, the mother of Solomon, Bathsheba, was a wife of David and a former wife of Uriah.

Uriah was a faithful servant of David, yet David ordered his death so that David could marry Bathsheba. This was a grievous sin. God used this sin in the genealogy of Jesus to demonstrate his extraordinary grace. Well, at least Uriah was a good guy.

Matthew 1 and Luke 3 gave two different genealogies of Jesus

In any case we know Matthew has manipulated his genealogy by leaving out a handful of kings (Ahaziah, Joash, Amaziah, Jehoahaz and Jehoiakim) so that it looks like 14 generations from David to Jechoniah.
Check out How many generations are there from Abraham to Jesus the Messiah, according to Matthew?

Foot Washing

Foot washing, however, wasn't even a matter of law. It just showed how low we mst be willing to go to help others, to put their needs ahead of our own, even at the expense of our so-called dignity. Foot washing was a cultural thing locked up in a particular time period. It need not be observed in our day of shoes and socks, in my opinion.
Exactly. It's not the foot washing itself but the willingness to put others ahead of our own needs. (loving our neighbor as ourselves etc) People washed their feet constantly back then was because they were simply dirty from traveling with bare feet or sandals. Naturally they were covered in dirt. But Christ and others used it as a teachable moment.
But we can do many things for our neighbor today that don't include foot washing. Most would have other needs in this day and age as you stated with us having shoes and socks.

Nullifying Original Sin - The Distinction between universal resurrection and Universalism

It seems to me the Acts 24:15 clearly limits, divides, and categorizes men into two groups
We've already covered this. There are no legitimate distinctions such as only good people and only bad people when everyone is some of each. Such sights where good outweighs the bad are, at their core, works based salvation positions.

Beside the fact that your positions do not take into account the adversary of us all. You see only People. Scripture doesn't see us that way as previously cited

Is my mother in violation of God's Word?

No, I do not think so. Prayer and prophecy are different from preaching or exercising authority. If a woman is praying alongside a man for a request, or to praise, or so on, that is communication with God, and neither the man or woman can really be said to be exercising authority over the other. Likewise, prophecy is hearing back from God through His Word, so that is subject to God's authority over the individual prophet.

It's not like you can order someone to pray to God something for you and then punish them if you do not pray what you specify. There is a heart and thought element to prayer that needs to be genuine when one is praying. This cannot be forced by an external authority. But unless your mother is telling people what to pray for and forcing them to pray it like in some cult scenario that harkens back to the Inquisition, she is in the clear. I presume this organization is voluntary by all those who want to pray with your mother at the church, and not forced as well. Preaching and forcing are what is not allowed for women, not organizing and praying.

How Do Christians Triumph in God’s Justice, Righteousness, and Truth?

Production Notes: A Drummer Boy – A Story Written by the Grace of God

This story was not written by my own ability but by the grace of God. A Drummer Boy is not just a historical narrative; it is a message for today—a call to faith, courage, and spiritual awakening in the times we are living in.

I first conceived this story in 2008, long before I had the means to articulate it fully. Over the years, God refined its purpose in my heart, and now I finally have the opportunity to share it. While I used AI for linguistic assistance, the essence of this story—the message, inspiration, and faith behind it—was given to me by the Lord. That is why I do not claim authorship; instead, I acknowledge that this work was written by the grace of God.

The purpose of this story is to awaken the spirit of faith among Christians, especially as we stand on the threshold of a world in turmoil. As darkness grows, we must remember how victory in Christ is achieved—not by worldly power, but through unwavering faith and obedience to God. A Drummer Boy is an example of how even the smallest and weakest among us, when standing firm in faith, can lead others into battle and triumph in the Lord’s name.

If this story resonates with you, I humbly ask for your help in sharing it. I have posted it in a few places, but I am unsure if it has reached the right audience. My hope is that this story will not only remind us of God’s glory but also inspire believers to stand strong in faith, knowing that our victory is already won in Christ.

May God bless you all, and may His truth shine ever brighter in these times.

In Christ,
Polaran

A Drummer Boy – In Christ, With Victory

“The Story of a Drummer Boy in the American Revolutionary War”

The Dawn of Battle

The mist of dawn lay thick upon the field, veiling the earth in hushed expectancy. Darkness clung to the final moments before retreat, as if reluctant to yield to the coming light. The first golden rays stretched across the land, touching dewdrops like celestial fire. The world awakened with sacred stillness, yet man stood as one forever restless, bound to war even in the grandeur of creation.

The hills stood unshaken, the rivers flowed unbothered, and the trees bore silent witness. The world had seen battlefields before. It had watched men rise and fall. And today, again, before this eternal stage, a moment of reckoning approached.

Major Johnson walked among his men, his voice steady, unshaken.

“We are but fleeting dust upon this earth, but today, upon this field, we have been chosen for a purpose. The Lord has placed us here. Not for death. Not for despair. But for victory that echoes beyond time.”

The soldiers stood silent, feeling the weight of his words.

“Steel your hearts. The battle is not just of flesh and blood—it is of spirit. We fight not only for our homeland, but for righteousness, for the truth that shall not perish. Stand firm, for today, we are not merely men—we are warriors of purpose.”

A deep hush followed. Even the earth seemed to hold its breath.

Among them stood William, a drummer boy no older than twelve. His heart pounded with a fire unknown, as if something far beyond himself had been awakened. He gripped his drumsticks, feeling the weight of something greater than war—greater than himself.

Then, the whistle cut through the air.

The Chaos of War

The battle erupted in a storm of fire and thunder. Cannons roared, shaking the ground. The sky wept with gunpowder smoke, and the air trembled with the cries of men.

The enemy’s volleys came swift and merciless. Soldiers fell. Screams mingled with the sound of steel, and the field of dawn was now a field of blood.

Fear gripped the ranks. The line wavered.

The weight of death pressed upon them, suffocating, relentless.

William stood frozen, gripping his drum, his breath caught between terror and something unspoken. He was only a boy. And yet, in this moment, he had been placed here. Why?

A cannon blast erupted to his right, sending a shockwave through his chest. The world blurred—chaos, fire, and then—

A burst of light.

Through the smoke and fire, William saw something.

Not just fire. Not just the blinding flare of war.

It was light—pure, absolute, divine.

For the briefest moment, time itself seemed to still.

And he knew.

The Lord was with them.

A sign, unmistakable. A whisper upon his soul.

“Fear not, for I am with you. Be strong and courageous. March forth, for victory is mine.”

His heart surged. He gripped his drumsticks with a force he had never known. He was no longer just William. He was called.

He lifted his drum.

And he played.

The Divine Drumbeat

The first strike was hesitant. A breath. A beginning.

Then another. Stronger. Resolute.

The beats rang through the chaos—not of fear, but of defiance. Not of despair, but of triumph.

The soldiers heard it.

They turned. They saw the boy, standing amid fire and death, unshaken.

And they felt it.

The rhythm was not of war, but of something greater. A call to stand. A call to rise.

William’s hands moved with purpose—not the practiced routine of a boy, but the fervor of a soul ignited. His rhythm was not his own. It was given. It was placed. It was a force beyond him, beyond flesh, beyond time.

The march of victory.

The soldiers straightened. Fear unraveled. Their steps grew firm.

Major Johnson turned, eyes ablaze. “Hold the line!”

The broken ranks reformed. The fire returned to their hearts. They advanced.

The enemy faltered. What force could make men stand, unshaken, before death?

It was faith. It was certainty.

It was the sound of heaven’s call.

And William played. He played as if heaven itself had placed the rhythm in his hands.

His heart knew no fear. His soul knew no doubt. He was not alone.

The enemy broke. Their lines shattered.

Victory surged like dawn breaking through the night.

The Aftermath of Glory

The battlefield fell silent. Smoke curled toward the sky. The sun, now fully risen, cast golden light over the field, as if anointing the ground where they stood.

The soldiers, bloodied and weary, gazed upon each other. They had not merely survived.

They had prevailed.

William slowly lowered his drum, breathless. His hands trembled—not with fear, but with awe.

The Lord had been with them.

He knelt. He placed his drumsticks upon the earth, and with closed eyes, whispered,

“Lord, the victory was never ours—it was Yours. We stood because You willed it. We fought because You called us. May this field bear witness to Your power, and may we never forget the strength You have given us today.”

The soldiers around him, hardened men who had seen death and despair, slowly knelt beside him. Some whispered prayers. Others simply bowed their heads.

The wind carried their silent reverence to the heavens.

The war was not over. More battles would come.

But today, they had marched in the presence of God.

And for that, there was no greater victory.

In Christ. With Victory. Forever.

Final Touches
This version amplifies the divine aspect of the story, making William’s moment of realization a true theophany (encounter with God). The battle’s chaos contrasts with the sacred rhythm of the drum, creating a moment where human strength meets divine will. The post-battle reflection solidifies that the victory was always God’s.

The Wise Woman Builds Her House

“The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.
He who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord,
But he who is devious in his ways despises Him.
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back,
But the lips of the wise will protect them.” (Proverbs 14:1-3 NASB1995)

When we believe in Jesus Christ with biblical faith, we die with Christ to our old lives of living in sin and for self, and we are raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as servants of the Lord Jesus, in walks of obedience to his commands, by his grace, in his power. So we are not to let sin reign any longer in our bodies to make us obey its desires, for if sin is what we obey, it leads to death. But if obedience is what we obey, it leads to righteousness, and its end is eternal life with Jesus Christ, our Lord (see Romans 6:1-23; Luke 9:23-26; Acts 26:18).

When the wise woman builds her house, from a spiritual point of view, she believes the teachings of the Scriptures, taught in their appropriate context, and she puts the Word of God into practice in her daily life, by the Spirit. Her life is surrendered to the Lord Jesus, to do his will, and she follows the Lord wherever he leads her in whatever he has called her to do, as his servant and messenger. Yet, this does not make her perfect in every way, for she is still clay in the hands of The Potter, being molded by God into the likeness of character of Jesus Christ, by God’s grace, in his power.

But she is a follower of Jesus Christ who is ready and willing to do God’s will and to fulfill his purpose for her life, under his guidance and direction, in his power. She is a student of the Scriptures who studies them in their appropriate context and who makes it her practice to test everything and everyone against the teachings of the Scriptures (in context) to make certain that she is believing and living the truth of God’s Word, and that she is not being deceived by the enemy of her souls who uses other human beings to do his bidding in spreading lies which are contrary to God’s Word.

She who teaches the Scriptures to others is careful and diligent to make certain that what she is teaching as truth is the truth, according to the Scriptures, and that she is teaching them in the correct context, in the same way in which Jesus taught them and that his New Testament apostles taught them. This is not to say that she never gets anything wrong, but that she is diligent in her pursuit of truth under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and as a serious student of the Scriptures, making sure, as much as possible, that what she is teaching others is the absolute truth and not the lies of Satan.

On the other hand, the person who is foolish goes more by her feelings, and she lets her emotions rule her heart and what she does and what she says instead of submitting to the will of God and building her house with spiritual wisdom, which comes from God. So she ends up tearing down the truth of the Scriptures to justify her own lifestyle, rather than to listen to the teachings of the Scriptures, and to follow them, instead. For she is being ruled by the flesh, and not by the Spirit, and according to her fleshly appetite, and not in accord with God’s Word. And God is not her LORD.

The encouragement for all of us here, whether we are male or female, is to make certain that our spiritual houses, our individual lives, are being built on the Lord and on the truth of the Scriptures, in their proper context, and as Jesus taught them, and as the New Testament apostles taught them (in full context). For Scriptures are being taught out of context much these days, and they are being interpreted in ways which are not in agreement with the context in which they were placed in the Scriptures. But how we live matters for eternity, because Jesus died so we’d die to sin and obey his commands.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 2:6-8; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-21; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-13; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:5-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10]

Walking in The Light

An Original Work / November 16, 2011
Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love
Based off 1 John 1-2

When I lift up my voice, and
Sing praise unto God,
I will fellowship with my
Lord and Savior, King.
In Him there is no darkness.
He is in the light of truth.
If we walk in His light,
From sin He purifies.

If we repent of our sins,
He’ll forgive us now,
When we humble ourselves, and
Before Jesus bow.
The man who says, “I know Him,”
But does not obey His truth,
There is no truth in him.
In darkness still he’s found.

Do not love the world of sin,
For it is hell bound.
If you follow the world, you’ll
Not in Christ be found.
The world and its desires
Will not last; they’ll expire.
The one who does God’s will,
Receives eternal life.

See that what you have heard from
Christ remains in you.
Then, you’ll remain in Christ, and
In His Father, too.
This is what He promised us –
His eternal life with God.
So, continue in Him, and
You’ll receive a crown.

Can we reject God's plan for us?

The word "plan" is ambiguous. A plan could have different levels of detail.

NLT, Lk 7:

Strong's Greek: 1012. βουλή (boulé) — 12 Occurrences

BDAG:
① that which one thinks about as possibility for action, plan, purpose, intention

ESV:

On Biblehub, 6 versions used 'plan'; 14 used 'purpose'.

It was God's intention or plan for the Pharisees to be baptized by John, but they rejected that purpose.

Can we reject God's plan for us?

Yes, in the sense of God's intention and purpose, but no, in the sense of God's detailed sovereign plan.
For some situations, a finer resolution is found in the notion of "design". For example, God's design for each human includes the fact that the species is incomplete apart from Christ. This does not imply that any of the species is able to be "in Christ", apart from the work of Christ in them to be that. Nor does it imply that God intends to save every one of the species.

But, like with "plan", so with "intend", "want" and several others, things are different when the term is used to describe something about God. Our use of such words is too easily anthropomorphic.

The Three Trees (A Devotional)

THE THREE TREES (A devotional)

There existed three trees. Three trees with three meanings. Three destinies for all of mankind. What are those three trees?

The first two trees were in the Garden of Eden. The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life. The Tree of the knowledge of Good and evil was a prohibited tree. Enoch describes the tree as somewhat like a tamarind tree with great fragrance and fruit resembling fine grapes (Book of Enoch 31:4). This tree became like a tree of death. Why? Because our ancestors, Adam and Eve partook of the fruit and brought sin and death into this world.

Then there was the Tree of Life. This tree was for life yet had Adam and Eve partaken of this tree, they would have lived forever bearing the guilt and curse of sin. God put it off-limits and thus thrusting the first couple out of the garden. He had a better plan for the couple. He had a better plan for the whole world.

The third tree grew in Israel. It was probably a hardwood tree, maybe cedar or oak. Something strong and sturdy. It was there around 30 CE. It was cut down, and made into wood beams. Two beams would be put together to form a cross. A cross that would hold fast the Son of Man, the Son of God, Messiah Ben Yosef, Messiah Ben David.

It would be a symbol of death and suffering, yet a symbol of forgiveness and life. The Son of Man would be lifted up and bear the guilt of our sin and death, yet offer us forgiveness and life to all who would trust in HIS sacrifice, in our place. An atonement on a tree, a tree that would be a tree of death yet a tree unto life.

Where are these three trees today? Well, who can know? The first two destroyed by the waters of the Genesis flood. Perhaps the Tree of Life was translated to Heaven. The last tree, consumed, but not forgotten.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (in the Garden) a tree of death

The Tree of Life (In the Garden) a tree of life now in Paradise.

The Tree of Calvary (Calvary's Hill) A tree of death and suffering, yet a tree of Life for those who trust on the ONE who was nailed to it.
