  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A near-death experience

A few months ago, around December 2024, I was deep in preparation for an exam I had been working towards for nearly a year. I felt confident in my abilities, and when school resumed after Christmas break, we began practice exams.

One of my bad habits is skipping meals whenever I feel like I have “more important” things to do, so I was often eating only once or twice a day in favor of studying. On one fateful exam day, my head started to feel light and I became short of breath. I removed my sweater, thinking it was just the heat, but then everything went black.

I woke up in the nurse’s office and was later taken to the hospital, where doctors told me my blood sugar was dangerously low because I wasn’t eating enough. I thought that was the end of it—but it wasn’t.

The very next morning, while doing my routine, I fainted again. This time it was worse: my body went stiff, my skin turned pale, and even though I could see and hear everything, I couldn’t move. I can only imagine how terrifying it must have been for those who witnessed it, thinking I had died right in front of them.

At the hospital, the doctors decided to run a scan—and what they discovered shocked me. I had been living with a tumor growing inside me for over 16 years, completely unnoticed. If it had remained any longer, I would have lost my life. I was rushed into emergency surgery, and by God’s grace, I recovered quickly.

By the time the real exam came, I was fully healed and able to write it unhindered. Looking back, I truly believe this was God’s way of ensuring all my efforts did not go to waste. If I had collapsed during the actual exam, I might not have had the chance for surgery and recovery.

Today, having received my results and passed with flying colors, I see clearly what the enemy was trying to stop. My destiny is in God’s hands, and His plans will always prevail. May the schemes of the devil never succeed in any of our lives.

Trump 1.0's National Security Advisor John Bolton's House Raided by FBI

If I were s betting man I would say they have got the goods. The Biden administration dropped a civil case on Bolton. You know any enemy of Trump is a friend of the left. Was all of the attacks on Trump just “another performance to distract”?

How did Bolton do?

Oh, that's right, he said something about his relationship with Putin the POTUS didn't like.
He's a vindicative and petulant man. Just this week, he fired a Sr. stafer because....drum roll, the man's cell phone went off in the Oval office while Trump was speaking.

My bet remains....

You almost have to wonder if the Democratic Party is secretly trying to lose.

There has been considerable discussion regarding the challenges faced by the Democratic Party. However, I would like to present the official election results from last night in Iowa, a state traditionally recognized for its strong Republican support. These are factual results, not merely polls or opinions.

Iowa Senate District 1 Special Election results

A district won by the GOP with a 55% margin in 2022 switched to the Democrats in 2025, who secured victory with 54%.

This is the 2nd state senate seat DNC flipped in IA in 2025.

But thanks for all your opinion poll and article!
Congrats to those two districts.

What did they do differently than what they doing on a national level?

Sure, I will be waiting for the evidence in court. Maybe the DOJ actually has something on Bolton. But if I were a betting man, I would bet this is just another performance to distract.

Trump to sign executive order directing AG to prosecute flag desecration

I agree. But one would expect a poster to ask for a source before the insults and accusations.
Again with the victimhood. You were wrong and purposely spun Islam to be the boogeyman (again) and a broad claim about what happens in the U.K. when really that specific person was acting like a jerk and got in trouble for it.

"Flaming" huh? "Flat out lie" huh? Perhaps I deserve an apology.
Yes, flaming, and yes, a flat-out lie. A man was part of a protest at a mosque and hotel housing migrants (which already means he’s not the brightest or best apple in the crate) and the crowd was increasingly getting out of control in an area that had experienced riots. After more than a dozen warnings from multiple police to stop antagonizing people, he was arrested for racially or religiously aggravated public order offense, not a hate crime. And that’s hardly the country making it illegal to announce you like bacon.

If somebody was protesting outside of a church in an increasingly hostile and rowdy crowd in an area where there were riots and yelled “I love abortions,” you would be sobbing in your cereal and bleating all up and down these forums about how awful it was to be mocked for your faith. People say less provocative things than that here and people beat a worn path to the “report button” for how offended they feel.

This is just you and your persistent quest to perpetually and always be claiming victimhood despite being the least marginalized segment of society in the country, because you feel like it makes you feel important or more valid. Having to adhere to the same level of decorum and respect that you expect others to hold for you, then getting punished for not doing it, does not make you a victim.

Trump to sign executive order directing AG to prosecute flag desecration

Actually, a 23 year old man was arrested in the UK for saying “we love bacon” outside a UK mosque several days ago. The entire country doesn’t hate it, but it offended someone.

Ridiculous
That’s not the whole story, and that’s not anywhere close to it now being a hate crime to love bacon in the U.K.

A man, who was protesting at the site of a mosque and hotel that was housing migrants in an area that had experienced minor riots, was warned more than a dozen times that he and his escalating group needed to get under control. After ignoring that order from multiple police officers more than a dozen times, he continued his behavior by yelling that he loved bacon (among other things) and was arrested for one count of racially or religiously aggravated public order violations, not a hate crime.

Again, I don’t know what the need is to seek out and claim victimhood with some people, but the least marginalized demographic out hunting for reasons to feel put upon like it legitimizes them in some way is absurd.

Trump 1.0's National Security Advisor John Bolton's House Raided by FBI

The prosecution against Christie was dropped in 2017, when you know who was president.

In March 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office dropped the complaint against Christie, writing to the Superior Court judge that "we do not believe that an official misconduct charge can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt"
In Trump’s first term he also decided not to prosecute Hilary even though the facts warranted it and still do maybe we can get that mistake rectified as well. It was the Biden administration that closed the civil case on Bolton , does that make us even?

Can ChatGPT interpret speaking in tongues?

(staff edit)
While there is zero documented or anecdotal evidence that this happened, were it to, that would be between God and the recipient. The state of a persons health is no indication of the state of their soul.

This same discussion has happened time and time again, in my memory, going back to AIDS, Sars, Avian and Porcine influenza, and now Covid 19.

This nay-saying by those outside the faith should be viewed for what it is: A concerted effort by non=believers to turn the faithful from their faith in the means of grace so that they come to despise the sacrament.

It is no skin off of your butt, you obviously have no faith in the value, veracity, efficacy of the sacrament, but fall into the category of those who despise it.

Kyrie Eleison.

The Persevering Prayer of Monica

We Must Never Lose the Gift of Faith

Normandt' meditations

212. God is patient

God has all eternity. We only have a few years. He’s totally patient with us. He is mercy. He continues to want the fig tree to produce fruit and is ready to weed it and put new soil around it. God takes care of it.

Let’s imagine that this next story is forever repeated. We understand that God constantly wants to give us opportunities to come back to him. Jesus tells this parable:

“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard, and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none, he said to the gardener, ‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have found none. (So) cut it down. Why should it exhaust the soil?’ He said to him in reply, ‘Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future. If not you can cut it down.’” Luke, chapter 13, verses 6 to 9

God, the gardener, by his great mercy, doesn’t stop wanting to help us to develop roots into his Love. The tree of our existence cannot flourish and bear fruit unless it is rooted in God. He wants the tree to take root in him. It would be easy to tell ourselves that this is false, since we seem to have everything to stay alive.

We live? Indeed, we live. But we can close our lives in a well-insulated cave without the constant and beneficent source of God. The cave is all that attracts us and keeps us in front of a treasure that sparkles, unattainable, illusory, instead of rooting us in the ground that is ours, in our own heart in the centre of God’s garden.

We are invited to convert every day. Every moment when we take the advantage to place ourselves in the Heart of Jesus it’s always a precious moment. This moment is worth an infinite quantity of treasures.

The Trinity is always there for us, but from time to time we are in our shelter, focused on something else and not watchful to receive God in our life.
