  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Language of God

Such is the language of God ... to those who have knowledge with no understanding ... which is not a bad thing ... or in anyway out of order ...

This darkness is why the cross is such a pivotal point ... which without the dialectic takes hold to the scattering, or fragmenting of the soul ...
God's language is Spiritual Light to the soul, without flaw. Darkness would be a necessary component for the Light to be able to shine. We must learn who we are by coming to know in Whose Image we were made.

Trump calls Epstein disclosures battle ‘a Democrat hoax’

Are the same Democrats who refused to release the files, the same Democrats who are now asking for the files to be released?

Something doesn't seem to add up here.

...you seem to be ignoring it wasn't the Democrat's base calling for their release.

And it isn't the Democrats, and for that matter, most Republicans, calling it a "hoax."

Trump is.

And for some reason he continues to fan the flames.

Question on Gun Control - real life question asking for practical answers.

It is not a popular opinion. But i believe that just because you have a constitutional right to own guns, it doesnt mean you have the constitutional right to be an irresponsible gun owner without consequences. I am in the camp that believes that to own a gun is to assume a huge responsibility. With that comes heavy accountability. And if someone is unwilling or unable to assume that responsibility/accountability, then they probably shouldn't own a gun lest they are willing to face severe penalties.
I agree, and think that's a major reason why the Second Amendment specifies a well-regulated militia as a requirement for gun ownership. Unfortunately, over time, the SCOTUS has diluted "well-regulated militia" to mean anyone and everyone, and very little, if any, regulation.

A conversation about unity.

You missed the point; sacrificial acts are what we do.

If you're saying, true worship is caring for those in need, I agree. Charity is a fruit of the Spirit.

Yes, I agree that we do sacrificial acts, in Christ. To be clear, sacrificial acts are going to in some way serve others in lieu of serving my own carnal impetus. Scripture articulates the sentiment as walking in The Spirit and/or bearing one's own cross. The Spirit is love in a servitude towards others, and the cross is labor. Nonetheless, it's through the Holy Spirit I transform from the carnal self-serving mind to the spiritual mind of Christ. Wherefore a renewing takes place in my mind and heart that I credit God for.

2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

The Sacraments, particularly Baptism, the Eucharist and Confession and Holy absolution are solely about what God does for us.
I can agree with this. I would only remark that a sacrament is a sign of a sacred thing.
We can never be good enough to receive His body and blood, it is only through faith driven by a Contrite heart that we can truly benefit from the "medicine of eternal life" that is given in the Sacraments.
The New Covenant comes through the promise of God. It sounds like you're describing righteousness comes by grace through faith. Is that correct?

Sortition: a completely different model for democracy - representation by random selection - like a giant pool of jurors!

So - what do you make of SORTITION?

It's like having a random jury pool - but scaled up to run the country.
It was how ancient Athenian democracy worked.
Governments sometimes use it today to discuss some issue - and call it a "citizens’ assembly".

4 reasons I like it:

ONE: MORE EQUAL
Everyone has a chance. It's not influenced by wealth, social status, political careerism - etc.
This randomness tends to mirror the overall society more accurately than the rigged political system we see today.
The randomness and scope of everyone in the ballot should mean the whole population stay more engaged with the political life of their State and Nation - as they could be selected in the next recruitment!
It will involve those often excluded in traditional politics.

TWO: LESS CORRUPT
The government recruitment department funds a simple citizen lottery draw.
There’s no need to campaign or raise funds.
This removes the lobbying and corruption of big business - especially Big Oil!

THREE: BETTER DISCUSSIONS
Without the party politics - it should be far less toxic.
Because it is not election based and party-based - the parliament of the day can have a more thoughtful discussion.
They can honestly enquire of experts with less of the sabotaging, dishonest, partisan nit-picking that we see in the media today.
It produces decisions perceived as more legitimate - even by people outside the assembly.

FOUR: STABLE
As the sortition graph proposed for Tasmania shows - new staff filter in gradually over time. There are no sudden shocks to deal with.
Everyday people will be randomly selected, go through a recruitment and procedural training period, and then join colleagues that have been there a few months through to just about to finish their ONE term! The public servants advising them of procedures and resourcing them in the background can be there for longer terms for stability of the system - but even those should have limited terms should they be perceived as having too much influence themselves. (The much dreaded 'Deep State' paranoia.)

Sounds like a pretty good idea. I've heard, and experienced, worse, certainly.

Not sure how it would work here, though. One thing we Americans are good at is ruining decent ideas.

A conversation about unity.

The people may be real Christians but the sacrament is not a real Holy Eucharist..
So is that how unity is defined? Because to say there is NO unity seems like more than just saying the communion I take is not a real Holy Eucharist (not that I ever claimed it was.). But unity, IMO, is geared more towards the belief in the universal (the original meaning of the word catholic) church.

It is permissive for Christians to eat meat today

Romans 14
Easy-to-Read Version

14 Be willing to accept those who still have doubts about what believers can do. And don’t argue with them about their different ideas. 2 Some people believe they can eat any kind of food, but those who have doubts eat only vegetables. 3 Those who know they can eat any kind of food must not feel that they are better than those who eat only vegetables. And those who eat only vegetables must not decide that those who eat all foods are wrong. God has accepted them. 4 You cannot judge the servants of someone else. Their own master decides if they are doing right or wrong. And the Lord’s servants will be right, because the Lord is able to make them right.

PETA propaganda is not acceptable in this discussion.

Before the flood it is possible some people only ate vegetables. Beef Jerky has been found in Archeological sites that could predate Noah --- I do not know for sure.

I do not know if those pyramids were built before or after the flood.
When eating with vegetarians/vegans, I ate as they ate, as to not offend them.

Democrat Appellate Judge overturns half billion dollar fine

If this case were to go to a completely unbiased court, it will be overruled.
Are you claiming the NY appeals court is biased? What do you base that determination on? Beyond the fact that you consider Donald Trump innocent of any and all crimes he's been proven to have committed, that is.

No fraud was committed.
Your personal opinion is noted...and contradicted by the facts.

The banks were not a victim of fraud and the loans with interest were paid off on time. Apparently, only liberals might believe that is fraud.
The law says otherwise. I gave you a link to the decision, feel free to compare your own personal opinions to actual NY financial law at your leisure.

-- A2SG, you may want to consider the possibility that you don't know NY financial law as well as you think you do....just a possibility....

Texas AG Ken Paxton has fired or put on leave 4 of 7 whistleblowers accusing him of bribery

It's crazy to me that middle class citizens of Texas will vote foe this guy.

Say what you want but conservative leaders I. The US really seem to be acting like monarchs and seem to have about that level of culpability for their misdeeds.

Life would be easy as a conservative politicians I think.
Life as a conservative politician isn't inherently easy. Life as a conservative politician in a conservative state, though, is rather easy--as is life as a liberal politician in a liberal state.

That said, I am not so sure Praxton will be able to win. First he has to win the primary, which looks like it could go either way, and then there's the general election.

Texas is normally a state that Republicans can be quite confident they'll win statewide. However, while there's no denying Texas is strongly Republican--Trump won it by nearly 14% in 2024--it isn't quite as strongly Republican as one might think. There were 19 states that Trump won by a larger margin in 2024 than in Texas.

We should remember that Alabama, which is considerably more conservative than Texas (Trump won it by 30% in 2024, in comparison to the 16% he won Texas), still narrowly elected a Democratic Senator (Doug Jones) in its 2017 special election. Granted, that required a Republican candidate (Roy Moore) with an enormous amount of baggage, and Jones got absolutely clobbered in his re-election in 2020 when the Republicans put up a better candidate. Still, if that can happen in Alabama, it could happen in Texas if the Republican candidate is weak enough, which could be the case for Paxton.

I guess we'll first have to see if he wins the primary, which is still half a year away.

You almost have to wonder if the Democratic Party is secretly trying to lose.

Yes, AOC and Sanders should try to move the party to putting working class issue front and center.
Agreed.

I don't they will move the party toward winning until the party makes a conscious choice to appeal to the voters as a whole rather than individual voter groups. Do you really think that the party will abandon trans athletes as a major issue? Will the party come close to reasonable positions on crime, immigration and the homeless?
I don't think the party should abandon trans or LGBT people at all, in sports or any other areas. But I also believe they need to broaden their focus and address (not just appeal to) actual, real world, issues facing working people.

They need to focus on governing, not soundbites.

Did Obama disappoint Democratic voters? Really?
In some ways, I believe he did. Look at what he calls his "signature legislative achievement," the ACA. It's a conservative, market-based plan straight from the Heritage Foundation, that strengthens the private for-profit health insurance industry. Sure, there are reforms within it that benefit people, but there are far better plans that could, and should, be considered to address the issues of health care availability in this country. Single payer, for one.

The Obama wing of the Democrat is disliked by the party leaders as much as Bush folk are disliked by Republicans. The party is losing large numbers of Hispanics and youth to the Republican Party. The left tells them (and us) that the answer is double down on their pet issues. They say the issue has been that candidates don't communicate well enough, obscuring the fact that it is the message that is the issue.
========
BOTTOM LINE
Democrats continue to lose on the central issue of immigration, while winning a bit on Trump's clumsy implementation.
Democrats continue to lose on the issue of who determines school curriculums.
Democrats continue to lose on the issue of crime in our cities.
Democrats continue to lose on the issue of trans athletes.
And Democrats even lose by wanting more rather than fewer government workers, even while winning a bit regarding implementation.
Democrats can't get traction on their best issues: climate, health care and support of science.
I think that Democrats need to focus on governing: actually accomplishing legislative goals rather than just prancing for the cameras. Sure, it won't be easy, so long as they remain the minority party...but by showing the public they're willing to actually do the work, rather than just say they're going to, could make a significant difference, and turn the tide come election season.

Basically, focus on governing. Let elections take care of themselves.

-- A2SG, it's a basic trust the voters idea....politicians tend to pay lip service to that, but balk at actually doing it....

Revelation 12 walk through

If he thinks a certain way he has no ability to hear other proofs from my dealings with him over the years

The facts are seen below, all one has to do is use Google or google AI.

Yes, Jerusalem's walls were significantly expanded during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah, in part due to a large influx of refugees from the Northern Kingdom of Israel. The Assyrian conquest of the Northern Kingdom in 722 BCE created a refugee crisis, as displaced Israelites fled south to the relative safety of Judah and its capital, Jerusalem.
This population boom required King Hezekiah to construct a massive new wall to protect the newly expanded city.
Evidence for Hezekiah's wall expansion
  • Archaeological evidence: Excavations in Jerusalem's Jewish Quarter uncovered a 22-foot wide section of what archaeologists call the "Broad Wall". Discovered by Nahman Avigad in the 1970s, this wall was dated to the reign of Hezekiah and enclosed a new western neighborhood of the city. Excavators found that the wall was built so rapidly that it cut through existing houses, using materials from the demolished homes for its construction.
  • Biblical evidence:
    • The Book of 2 Chronicles records Hezekiah's fortification efforts, stating, "He set to work resolutely and built up all the wall that was broken down and raised towers upon it, and outside it he built another wall" (2 Chronicles 32:5).
    • The Book of Isaiah mentions Hezekiah preparing the city for a siege by the Assyrians, noting that the houses were torn down to repair the city wall (Isaiah 22:9–11).
  • Historical context: The Assyrian Empire was notorious for its brutal conquest and deportation of conquered peoples. When Assyria destroyed the northern capital of Samaria, thousands of Israelite refugees fled to Jerusalem, dramatically increasing its population. Hezekiah was already preparing for an inevitable Assyrian attack and used the city's western expansion to fortify its borders and build the new wall to protect his new citizens.

The City was expanded to receive the Northern Kingdom Refugees, but for some reason these people do not make up the other 10 tribes seed, even though of course they do.
Yes, the Jewish People consist of all 12 Tribal descendants, fulfilling God's promise to all 12 Tribes of Israel. After all, God never promised that He would retain 12 separate Tribal Divisions.

Some visions, such as Ezekiel's Vision, and John's Vision of the 144,000, appear to suggest this. But they are only visions confirming that all 12 Tribes would be included in Israel's ultimate national salvation.

The 12 Tribes were to become a single Nation, and not remain 12 Tribes or even 2 separate Nations. The fulfillment and inclusion of all 12 Tribes is to be realized in a single People and in a single Nation.

Will This Planet be Destroyed?

Some persons believe God will destroy planet earth. What do you believe?
At Revelation 11:18, we read that God's time to bring an end to those who are destroying the earth, is near.
Since God promised to destroy those who are destroying the earth, he obviously cares about this beautiful planet he created and gave to mankind. Psalm 115:16
iu
With a brief search of the etymology of the word 'earth,' one will find that it has only been the name of the planet since the 12th century.

In ancient Hebrew, the word 'eres,' simply referred to a "region," "country," "territory," or just a habitable plot of land.

It only referred to land, and not water; therefore, eliminating any reference to the planet, as a whole.

Does "equality" even matter to Jesus?

So God sees equality as applying the same standard of assessment to all people.

When people talk about giving allowances to people based on them being weaker, poorer, or of a lower social class, this is called Grace. Paul even said, when I am weak He (God) is strong, and I will boast of my weaknesses so Christ's power will rest on me.

In a sense, we treat others in the same way God treats us.

God shows His strength through our weaknesses, and the way we treat the least of humanity is how God regards us treating Him.

So it would be fair to say that social justice does matter to God.
Yeah, I'm not sure if you watched all the video, but it made the point (at the end!) about how we treat the *least* being significant...

Does "equality" even matter to Jesus?

The video overlooks one important fact. All in the Kingdom must follow the Will of the Father. That is where they are equal. This vid smacks of still wanting to make it about us and seeking justification for being who we are as humans, which does not follow the will of the Father. Love all as self yes, but let each other be who they want to be, no. The whole idea is to reject who we are as humans in being self-centred and learn to be servants to both God and each other in need of basics such as food, clothing and shelter (social justice), not enablers..
I felt the video was more or less saying to serve others with basics like food and clothes when we see those around us in need. And not that we should be "enablers". Did you feel the same way?

The Annabelle doll has become a carnival attraction. What could go wrong?

For serious parapsychologists, the Warrens' accounts are treated with alot of skepticism.

There's widespread agreement among parapsychologists now that "haunted houses" or "haunted" objects are an example of psychometry, and don't represent "ghosts" in the folk sense. Psychometry is the perception of emotional weight of the past, sometimes some of these events are associated with apparitions or "ghosts", but these are thought to be more akin to impressions from the past that persist over time. Nevertheless, all the evidence seems to be the Annabelle doll is simply a sensationalized story about a toy doll a nursing student received, and that the Warren's spun into an elaborate narrative of a haunting.

Does "equality" even matter to Jesus?

' Equality' needs to be clarified, objectively speaking. But for me, the sentiment of Love your neighbor as yourself would infer equality. Another thought that comes to mind is that Jesus said to sell all your possessions and give to the poor and you will have riches in heaven.
Good thoughts. Both are covered in part 1 and 2 of the video series...

Smartmatic versus Fox news: How funny are the new private emails and texts?

Fox bosses privately called U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro 'reckless maniac' and more

A Fox News executive has called a prominent Trump appointee a "reckless maniac."

Another Fox executive said, "I don't trust her to be responsible."

A third condemned her for the "tendency to find random conspiracy theories on weird internet sites."

And a Fox corporate board member called a public statement of hers "insane."

The person they were talking about is Jeanine Pirro, now the United States' top law enforcement official for Washington, D.C. At the time, she was a top-rated star on Fox News itself.

The exchanges are quoted in legal documents made public last month in a defamation lawsuit brought by Smartmatic, a voting technology company, against Fox News.
Looks like those are plusses in the Fox News world.
