  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolution, one more argument against

Fewer than five? What of all the scientists associated with Creationist organisations such as Answers in Genesis?
AiG doesn't even describe themselves as a science organization.

"Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (i.e., Christianity-defending) ministry dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively."

I'm thinking I'm not so sure I might not prefer that to a lifetime in prison.
I can understand that.

However, if you are not actually guilty, you may be glad for the at least the hope of reversing your fate. This has happened before.

RFK. Jr Threatens Pediatricians Over Vaccine Recommendations and Liability

Look how anxious people are to dismiss this study without even reading it.
1) IT's been made pretty clear that CDC and FDA is not necessarily a reliable scientific organization anymore as they are working backward from their bias.
2) Causality has never even been close to being linked....and ultimately, everything comes down to causality. Otherwise it's a moot point that anyone died through that mechanism.
3) The fact that so few kids DID die, suggests that almost all kids' natural state CAN handle it. I would expect to hear that perhaps there was an "X factor" that endangered certain kids.
It's hard to say "the mRNA vaccine is dangerous" when 99.9986 of children didn't die from it.

There's no way to be a rational person and say that.

A Brilliant Perspective of Creation vs Evolution

River Jordan, I appreciate and respect your troubled response and will try to clarify a few points.

"If you are correct, we are all horrible, terrible, awful scientists. We will go down as the biggest bunch of dopes in human history."

I'll repeat that many if not most biologists are not working on projects dependent upon a certain religious or secular world view. Thus, their value as scientists is not being questioned or judged here by me. For those few that are actively promoting a naturalistic theory that rejects God's existence and deprives Him of his creation glory, I pray that they will see the light in time - as many reputable scientists have.

"I pray you also understand how it's very difficult to see someone make extraordinary boasts like that but also say they can't prove any of it and don't really want to be put in a position where you'd have to support them."

I didn't say I couldn't prove my point of view; I said I didn't want to get into a debate over the issue. You see, I've gone down that path before on forums and with friends only to find it a lengthy prospect of wasted time, effort and failure. I've learned that presenting evidence that opposes a firm evolutionist's world view is entirely ineffective. It will only be dismissed or rejected, no matter how relevant, good or sound.

The fact is that our world view presuppositions dictate how we interpret evidence around us. Both sides of the issue are bound to this if the individual has a strong religious or secular perspective. For those many that do not, evidence can be assessed with less biasness and thus become influential. Those are the ones I invest my time in - open minded ones seeking truth in the matter based upon evidence and rationale, not those already holding firm presuppositions.

"So while I understand now how you see things and how strongly your feel about them, I honestly don't understand the boasting and elaborate claims. It seems a bit much to me."

That's understandable River Jordan because it's a charge made against Christianity and the Bible by much of society. In fact, you've raised a point that's even bigger than than just creationism vs evolution, but also the claim of Jesus being the only way to salvation and the claim for objective morality. What an offensive claim made by arrogant Christians. Unless it's true.

I trust you know that our culture today is struggling over the prime issue of objective truth vs relativeness. The Bible believing Christian accepts objective truth as God's revelation. Current (American, or western) culture is fighting against this. What started with exchanging Biblical creation teaching in the schools for evolution has progressed into a total moral decline of our culture. There is a battle going on for the hearts and minds of America's society. Each side "should" be offended by the others' world belief system and values if they care about what's going on in the world.

Know though that while outspoken Bible believing Christians may be labeled as close minded, arrogant, hateful bigots by today's society, that's not the behavior actually being demonstrated. As Charlie Kirk demonstrated so well with his public college debates, a Christian can and should speak truth openly while maintaining love and respect for others.

In summary, I'm not smart, proud, or great enough at anything to be arrogant, but I am blessed to have a heart receptive to God and His written Word. I have a biblical world view based not only on faith, but by a preponderance of evidence. That includes a firm position on biblical creation vs evolution.

I expect any atheist to reject creationism in order to be consistent with their secular world view, but they should realize that they don't have the scientific evidence on their side as the current educational system and culture promotes. Thus, the reason for my initial video post.

Similarly, I expect any true Christian to believe the foundational scriptures of their faith, which mandates a respect for the Bible's authority - including the Genesis creation account.

I don't want to argue with atheists or misguided Christians holding firm evolutionary beliefs. But for those less biased ones who are seeking God or wanting reconciliation between the Bible and today's culturally touted science, know that there's an abundance of scientific evolution vs creation material to explore. I'm always happy to share my best examples of books, articles, or videos to those who are truly interested, but the time and work involved is more than most here would want to give. It's easier to just accept the cultural norm than seek the truth.
Joseph, like the last time I find your post frustrating to read. It's very difficult to be lectured about biology by someone who (as @sfs showed) also makes basic errors in that very subject. That level of Dunning-Kruger from creationists is exactly what I referenced in another thread a bit ago and is something I really don't understand.

Also, evolutionary biology doesn't "reject God's existence". It may conflict with your fundamentalist interpretations and beliefs, but those are not God.

And that brings me to one of the main frustrations I had when reading your post. Like other fundamentalists I've interacted with, you've tried to frame it to where you and those who share your particular interpretations are "Bible believing Christians" and the rest of us apparently don't believe the Bible. That's terribly divisive and unnecessary. I pray you find a way to be more open understanding to your fellow Christians, especially with things that aren't vital to our salvation.

Lastly I'll reiterate what sfs said in his reply to you. A lot of what you've posted about biology is just plain wrong. So my recommendation to you is that you check your pride and be much more humble with what you say about biology and science. We are commanded by God to be truthful in all that we say and do for a reason. Going around saying ridiculously incorrect things under the banner of Christianity likely drives some people away, and I trust you're aware of what scripture has to say about people who do that.

What are we doing here?

You said yourself that God doesn't spoon feed us all the answers.
Meaning, he doesn't make scripture extremely easy to understand in a lot of points. Even Daniel had issues interpreting what he saw. It requires you to seek him for understanding and especially now in our age where we're having to translate, makes it even more paramount to seek him.

Why would you do that if that's not the model God gave us to follow in the New Testament?
But it is though.
God over everyone else.
I'm not saying don't try and learn from others, all I'm doing is putting a hierarchy for understanding, just as scripture told us.

"But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren." - Matthew 23:8

So if you're learning from scripture and someone comes and tells you something different, then you rely on God to show you which is true.

RFK. Jr Threatens Pediatricians Over Vaccine Recommendations and Liability

I read the blog you posted and reported some of what it said.

No, you said it was just a compilation of VAERS reports. But what the link actually said was:

The reported deaths originated in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), the government’s database for suspected vaccine harms. Unlike the raw entries often left unexamined, FDA officials say they’ve investigated the cases.

They contacted families, reviewed autopsy results and gathered medical records. It appears that, for the first time since the vaccine rollout, U.S. regulators have attempted a systematic, case-by-case review of paediatric deaths.

So you either misunderstood, or misrepresented, that these are not just VAERS reports. These are VAERS reports that were investigated.

You're the one who claimed "study shows 25 children died as a result of the COVID vaccine."

As I said, I haven't read the study, mostly because I don't think it's been published yet. I was simply providing a counter-framing to the reporting that framed this as an "ardent anti-vaccine" study.

RFK. Jr Threatens Pediatricians Over Vaccine Recommendations and Liability

I guess we're just making up numbers now...
I will totally admit I'm being third rate with my numbers.
Let's try:
56.7 million 0-18yr olds in the US
COVID Vaccine for that range is: 32.4% (as of 2022)
Vaccination of Children in the United States against COVID-19: An Ounce of Prevention - PMC
So that's just under 18million who've been vaccinated.

Do you know what the odds are of a child dying from a COVID infection? I'll give you a hint; CDC's own data showed that children were more likely to be killed in a bicycle accident than from COVID.
Still lower than dying from the vaccine.

Is belief/non-belief a morally culpable state?

Which was a self-serving act, the original sin of putting man’s will ahead of God’s even though before and all through the bible He said otherwise.
Yes, I get you, we all focus on what we want instead of what God wants. There is a carnal vanity. Scripture says we're made subject to vanity unwillingly. The difference in my articulation is because I believe the serpent introduced an untrustworthy image of god through subtlety, and Eve being innocent, was therefore unaware that this is what was happening to her. --> Mind manipulation. Corruption via a corrupt image of god. <-- I don't believe this was seen, much less could she have even contemplated whether or not this false image was to her best interests, as if the creature creates the Creator.

This untrustworthy image of god, is what I believe made disobedience seem reasonable to Eve who being pure of heart probably could not conceive a lie nor a reason to conceive a lie. I figure that both male and female were made in God's Image. They both had God's Spiritual Character without knowing good and evil. She was therefore duped into thinking they would become like gods, when in reality she was allowing in the corruption of her character.

That's why I articulate it this way---> Subjectively it seemed like a self-serving act in her mind, but objectively she was deceived. I don't want to project a negative prejudice towards Eve.

Trump Orders Flags to Half-Staff for Charlie Kirk

Regarding Charlie Kirk, he called for the execution of Biden on his show. I watched it this am.
quote is here
Yes, Charlie Kirk called for Joe Biden to receive the death penalty in July 2023, describing it as punishment for "crimes against America." During an episode of The Charlie Kirk Show, he stated: "I know what you're thinking, we've got to get Joe Biden out of the way so we can run against Kammy. Oh my goodness, is she beatable. ... [Biden] should be put in prison and/or given the death penalty for crimes against America."

Wow. He was not a decent fellow.

Of course he should have been free to spread his indecency, and challenged at every opportunity. But never by violence.

That was done with poorly done and obviously fake AI from MediaMatters. Watch for yourself. These are the times we live in.

Elongated Skulls of Paracas, Peru Possible Origins Are Amazing

So where do the elongated skulls often associated with pyramids and stone around the world fit in?
From what the video said, Brien Foerster wants to have the DNA analyzed of the elongated skulls found in the Caucasus Mountains. It would give them an idea of their origins too. But yes, it would be interesting to find out how the Egyptian Elongated skull people are related to the other ones.

What are we doing here?

From a critical standpoint, no text is self-evident. Context, language, genre — all must be reconstructed. The Bible is ancient literature, and its meaning arises from history, philology, and comparative study. To claim self-evidence is naïve; every reader interprets, whether they admit it or not.

Sound Doctrine... What does that mean?

“Sound doctrine” in Timothy and Titus means healthy, life-giving teaching consistent with the gospel of Christ. It is teaching that nourishes faith and produces godliness, as opposed to false, diseased, or flattering doctrines that destroy the soul. Paul presses this theme because the goal of Timothy and Titus is to guard the gospel, protect the church, and form a community whose life reflects the truth they confess.

WHY DID TONGUES STOP ?

I do not have a problem with people becoming so emotional about their spiritual feeling at the moment that it causes them to become incoherent and make sounds we cannot understand.

But, if this is supposed to be the “language” of angels; then why do German tongue speakers sound like they are speaking in German, Chinese tongue speakers sound like Chinese, French sound French and so on? If they are speaking the same angelic language should they not all sound alike?

The translation of these tongue speakers are much longer than the sounds made by the tongue speaker?

When a recording is made and one interpretation is given by a translator, other translators come up with different translation none two are alike?

Why would someone speak in tongues during worship with no translation given?

Paul is talking about part vs. together and child going to maturity. Paul is talking to Christians, so how are they learning separately? The problem within the Church, Paul spends most of his time addressing in Romans, Eph. And Gal. is the separation of the jews and Gentiles.

As far as 1 Cor. 13: 10:

Look up “to telious” for that is what is in 1 Cor. 13:10. It is masculine, neuter and plural, so we are looking for the perfect “neuter it”. Will Paul doesn’t and we shouldn’t use the word in communicating to others unless they know what we are talking about. It really was no big problem for the Greek speaking Corinthians to know exactly what Paul was referring to since “the [it]” is standing for has to be neuter. Good grammar would mean the reader would immediately understand what the “it” was referring to, since the “it” would be neuter and the main previous neuter subject (not something out of context and of a different gender). The “it” from the context is something that is “in part” separated/ not together/ not one/ not whole/ not complete at the moment of the letter. There are not many neuter words around and Bible, Jesus, heaven, book, second coming and most other words in Greek are not neuter.

Did Paul make a grammatical mistake? Would the Spirit have led him to miss communicate? In Greek poetry you can use the wrong gender and if you’re trying to get some point across you might change the gender, but was that the case here? Can you find other instances of Paul make grammatical errors?

This is not the only time Paul discusses this topic of something being apart and needing to come together, you might start with Eph. for a parallel discussion.

What Paul has been talking about in gifts and the body in Chp. 12 and takes a little tangent to talk about Love, but than in Chp.13: 8 Paul returns to his discussion of gifts and the body. In Paul’s discussion of the body he talks a lot about the different parts and how we all need to be one. But are there actually one at that time or is this something Paul is wanting and encouraging them to be?

Paul says: 1 Cor. 12: 28And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?

Paul uses that same idea in Eph. 4: 11It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

In Eph. Paul tells them they need to be united in one body and he also tells them how they are in parts now (have not reached the unity). Eph. 2: 11Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)— 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

“To teleion” in context is the opposite of being apart (meaning put together). The parts just previously being discussed by Paul were parts of the “body”, the body had not yet come together even at the time of the Ephesians letter, because there were still Jewish Christians and gentile Christians. This was a huge problem that Paul worked on heavily and would explain the persecution, famine and final destruction in Judas. “Body” is neuter and would be the word the Corinthian reader would easily choose to be the neuter word “to teleion” is referring to.

Paul is saying “when the body is made united as one” or “the parts of the body are joined”. Again it would be poor grammar in Greek or English to say “it” (or the equivalent of “it”) and be referring to a word you used a sentence later, but maybe you can give me examples?

I would say it was only sometime after the destruction of Jerusalem that Jewish Christians quite referring to themselves as Jewish Christians and just called themselves Christians
And I looked up 1 Cor 13:10. and it said (. TO TELEIOS. ). is and ADJECRIVE , and means , IS PERFECT

in. the. Accusative Case , in the Singular , in. the NEUTER which means Male or Female .

Are you sure you. had the right verse. ??

Historical ICE raid in Georgia

I agree. That just means there are 475 new job opportunities for US citizens in Georgia. Also, I have not heard of any fines for Hyundai USA.
Removing these individuals does not instantly create 475 job openings for U.S. citizens, as these specialized engineering and technical roles require advanced degrees and training.

The U.S. currently lacks over 2.1 million highly skilled engineers.

The chart below shows unfilled skilled engineering jobs in the USA over the past decade. Other high-tech skilled positions face similar shortages.

1757964796851.png

Fewer Americans are pursuing higher education: undergraduate enrollment dropped from 18.1 million in 2010 to 15 million in 2023. While 70% of Americans viewed college education as very important in 2013, only 49% consider it necessary today. Increasingly, Americans are choosing careers that do not require a college degree, with college being even less desirable among conservatives.

If the United States decides not to allow foreign-born high-skilled workers to fill highly paid positions, American-born workers would be required to take those jobs. The current environment suggests that, first, policies should encourage Americans to pursue higher education and make it more affordable so students can attend college and obtain advanced degrees. Even with these steps, it could take another 20 years to fill all of these positions.

I could see the death penalty being justice for this kind of crime, given perfect knowledge.

But I dont think the state is capable of administering this properly in general. So the correct actual penalty should be something like life in prison.

Right! I just mean that this is their primary source of information. I've noticed that a lot of people I've talked to in the past (I'm new on this forum, so I can't form an opinion for here) that they post links because that is the only source for their opinion. But when you reply to a specific argument, they can't answer it because they haven't done any study or research and are only citing what they've read.

Welcome to the forums, by the way. Nice to meet you.
