  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do You Mean by Believe?

The Law of God given to Moses is not cancelled or voided. There is an eye for an eye. There is measure punishment for sin.

There are many passages in the Bible that you are absolutely convinced are taking about eternal judgment, but if you read them carefully, they could be talking about temporal judgment which was a big thing in the Old Testament. How did it get completely erased in Christianity?
Universal reconciliation was declared anathema in the Fifth Ecumenical Council.

“If anyone says or thinks that the punishment of demons and impious men is only temporary, and will one day have an end, and that a restoration will take place of demons and impious men, let him be anathema.” Page 465 section IX.”

Secondly, eternal actually does mean eternal in scripture. Yes, aionios does mean eternal not “for an age”.

Israel-Hamas Thread II

Except for the Kurds.
Of course not. If there is one geopolitical issue which unites all the countries of the world, it's that the Kurds should not have a homeland. I never could understand quite why, but never mind, back to the OP.

Majority of Americans Believe Democracy ‘Isn’t Working’

Now ask the 74% of GOP members who say democracy is working how many believe the 2020 election was not won legitimately by President Biden.

Democracy is often questioned when the opposition is in power—claims arise about a broken system, corrupt agencies, or a fake market—but when one's own party is leading, everything is considered fine.

War Secretary Hegseth orders rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals, admirals Sep 30 in Virginia

Such old think.
Well, it is what is written in the Constitution. But Congress has been giving more and more to the Executive.

What does Congress have any power over that they haven't given to the Executive?

Another look at the moon landing.

Because he was one of the first to receive a film that was not meant for public distribution, bart went on to post this film that showed how the astronauts on Apollo 11 had faked their moon mission.

The film is not real. It never has been. I actually know engineers that worked on the Apollo program including my father in law. They is objective evidence compared to Bart’s made up story.

Charlie Kirk's Memorial Service: Let's Talk About That.

I didn’t watch but from the clips I’ve seen it looked more like a WWE style political rally similar to last year’s RNC than any wake or funeral or “celebration of life” event you typically see after someone passes. I don’t think funerals need to always be somber events but the political undertones here along with on stage pyrotechnics cross the line into just plain tacky.
IT all seems like some ochestrated to some kind of end.

Majority of Americans Believe Democracy ‘Isn’t Working’

The new Quinnipiac University Poll released on Tuesday found 53% of citizens believe American democracy is not working right now, compared to 41% of Americans who believe the system is going fine.

Those on the left, unsurprisingly, were much more likely to say the figurative house is burning down, with 74% of polled Democrats saying “the system of democracy in the United States is not working”; only 22% of Republicans said it is not working, and 74% of GOP voters said there is no problem at all.

What do You Mean by Believe?

I believe the key to understand where the Lord ( & the prophets, apostles etc.) speak of condemnation of non believers like in John 3:16-21, John 3:36, John 5:22-30, Romans 3:19-26 etc.are stern warnings of the worst possible consequences of unbelief.

These consequences aren’t guaranteed to every individual who may not have known or understood properly the Lord Jesus Christ and the Gospel. I believe the ultimate meaning of this is said by the Lord towards His direct persecutors in John 15:24-25 etc. The Lord, I believe, is definitely not comparing such sinful unbelief to someone like a Japanese Shinto fisherman back in the ancient day or uninformed, confused etc. people to this day. Statements like Matthew 12:30-33 etc., I believe, apply here also. The parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 is really interesting because the Lord is speaking of the great commandments ( which are the law & prophets really, see Matthew 7:12 in light of Matthew 7:1-12, Matthew 22:36-40 etc.) in relation to the humanity of a Samaritan (!). This all lines up with what St. Paul tells us about individuals within humanity vs overall humanity in Romans 2:6-16 etc ( I believe).

We have to be careful not to soft pedal warnings of condemnation either; these are real & serious. In Romans 3:19-26 St. Paul is speaking back on the issue of fallen humanity. A Christian has salvation by grace, through faith unto justification lived by faith in good works ( Ephesians 2:8-10 etc.). All a non Christian has is their works and a somber appearance at the judgement ( Revelation 20:11-15 etc.)although it seems clear some will be written in the book of life. We cannot judge ( Matthew 7:1-12) but we can pray for ourselves & our neighbor (1 Timothy 2:1-6 etc.).
Salvation by faith, but is that faith in the teachings of Christ, or faith in the essence of Christ?

Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise

That is from the article. What makes Luigi Mangione’s attack on a healthcare CEO where within his diary he makes it clear he was motivated by first hand frustration with the healthcare industry itself? Left wing or right wing means to me holding some kind of left or right wing ideology as a motivating action. Being frustrated with insurance companies crosses all political ideology spectrum. The Palm Beach shooter? He was motivated by his own insanity.
The study discussed in the article hasn't been released yet, so it will be interesting to read the methodology used and why they labeled Mangione as a left-wing extremist. My guess would be that they classified him as left-wing anti-establishment due to his position on the US healthcare system. In my opinion, his was a case of single-issue extremism rather than left and should be classified as such.

Why is the Trinity never explained, described, or mentioned in all of Scripture?

Jn. 17:3
Berean Standard Bible
Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.
1 Pet. 1:3
New International Version
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Eph. 1:3
King James Bible
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Rom. 15:6
Aramaic Bible in Plain English
That you may with one mind and one mouth glorify God The Father of our Lord Yeshua The Messiah.

Eph. 1:17
New American Standard Bible
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Jn. 20:17
Holman Christian Standard Bible
“Don’t cling to Me,” Jesus told her, “for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brothers and tell them that I am ascending to My Father and your Father—to My God and your God.”

1 Cor. 8:6
NASB 1977
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

1 Tim. 2:5
Douay-Rheims Bible
For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus:

Jn. 5:30, 5:19, 6:38, 8:28, 14:10; Matt. 16:16-17, 28:18
You forgot

Mt 28:19
Jesus bracketed them together as the name (singular--not "names," plural) of God,

1 Co 12:4-6,
Paul uses all three interchangeably as God (divine),

2 Co 13:14,
they are linked in prayer for divine blessing, and

Rev 1:4-5
they are linked in pronouncement of divine blessing in Rev 1:4-5.

For those with eyes to see, Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the triune name of the three persons in the one God.

I LOVE how much Trump supporters on Christian Forums were directly saying they wanted a president that extricated America from conflict to save money.

Then they changed the name to the "War" Department and there is collective amnesia... or apathy.

Am I doing the will of God by helping clean up the ocean?

I enjoy going for a swim, I will pick up any trash I find whenever I can. I thought of dedicating a full day to help clean up the ocean, or would God want this help to be towards helping people instead of the environment?

I have donated to charities that are about helping people, but I find I am really good at helping keep the ocean clean since I can scuba dive, and carry big things I find out of the ocean like a car tire, or whatever junk that has sunk to the bottom.

There’s a Giant Flaw in Human History

Archeologists know. High heat and chemical softening leave signatures that are not present.

Long, tedious work processes don't need to to be continuously checked, just at periodic intervals that are short enough to prevent working past the intended target. "Freehand" work between such measurements works perfectly fine, especially for the rough work like that seen in the "scooping".

None of the Egyptian objects we have been discussing were machine parts needing to physically interact with each other. They are decorative objects and storage vessels.
I will only add that a skilled craftsman develops an "eye" for that sort of thing and can judge with reasonably accuracy when it is time for smaller cuts and repeated measurements. When it's time for the finest work, say, with a scraper, the skilled craftsman can also fairly judge by the character of the chip about how much he is taking off. Steve seems to have the notion that working with hand tools is just blindly flailing away at the workpiece with them.

Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise

Well it's nice the Atlantic has given Trump credit for something positive. ^_^

Anyone who does a deep dive into the facts knows the statistics are bogus. A white man comes home and finds his wife in bed with a black man. He assaults the black man and that's categorized as "white on black crime" (as if he'd found her in bed with a white man he'd have offered him a cordial greeting). A white man assaults a homeowner while burglarizing a home. Investigation reveals the burglar once visited a white supremacist website. That's categorized as right-wing violence. And black and hispanic violent criminals who could possibly pass for being white are categorized as white. It's very skewed.
When did that happen?
