  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How is it that the Catholic Church is evil?

It was the Emperor, not the Catholic Church, who issued the edict. Five years later the first Christian was executed for violating the Emperor's edict. You claimed it was the Catholic Church that executed "anyone who refused to submit to the Pope." Quite the twisting and exaggeration. Heads of state, kings, Roman emperors, etc. throughout history executed those who did not go along with their religion, heresy. Have you seen A Man For ALL Seasons? Over a thousand years later rulers, in this case a Protestant ruler, were still executing those who did not go along with the state religion.
My point was that was the start of the Church exercising worldly power in cooperation with the state. When the state and church increasingly merged, it got worse. I probably should have used a later date to make it clearer. I’m not bashing the doctrines of the Roman Church, even though I disagree with some of it, I was pointing out the corruption of civil power it exercised. I have particular problems with Luther too, but that is not the topic of this thread.

California Woman Registers Dog to Vote; Dog Does So Twice.

It doesn't say, but best guess is Maya Jean is a registered Democrat.

Yes, she turned herself in, but that alone doesn't mean she's a democrat. There are republicans with a sense of guilt as well. On the other hand, she might have done it to degrade confidence in elections, which would indicate that she's a republican.

Hard to say. Conflicting evidence here. Apparently, she registered her dog as a democrat, but dogs are generally republicans. WFTH-I

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

I argue that the Navy knew who they were killing when they blew the boat out of the water. As of yet, YOU only know what you know because the intelligence organizations are not obligated to disclose anything to you. I trust the Navy and the intelligence sources KNEW more than you, that these were confirmed drug traffickers.
As I said early in the thread, it's entirely possible that specific boat had been seen before in US waters operating in ways known to be common to drug traffickers. There are plenty of vessels in the littoral waters of Venezuela and other nations that would be targets if the Navy were acting completely indiscriminately...they would be sinking a boat every two or three days, if they were operating indiscriminately. There's no indication that's what they're doing, and I'm not very worried about the identity of this particular vessel.

That still leaves open the legal question of whether the president should handle the situation in this particular manner.

But my point has been: We have put Trump into a position to do whatever he wants to do without anyone able to stop him.

And Democrats were as much an imbecilic party to this situation as Republicans. I've pointed that out in these forums years ago.

So, at this point, I'm not clutching my pearls.

What are you currently listening to?

Not for some time and I love this music. I like his early stuff the best. I like how he transitions from folk hillbilly to blues/folk rock and gospel. Always wanting to reinvent himself.

John Macarthur died in 2025

John Macarthur, a noted independent evangelical leader who was also a Calvinist died in 2025. He's left a literary legacy. What do you think his legacy on evangelicalism has been?
Understanding of the Scriptures. . .

His teaching of the whole book of Matthew and of John are solid food.

They're great on tape.

Israel-Hamas Thread II

The wealthiest of Hamas millionaires have long since left the country, where they enjoy the luxury they have extorted from their compatriots and siphoned off from Hamas's terror coffers. Hamas has amassed enormous wealth and resources through secret real estate deals.

Ismail Haniyeh (61) was the supreme leader of Hamas and head of government in Gaza. Since 2019, the father of 13 children ruled the fate of the Palestinians and Hamas terror from luxury hotels in Turkey and Qatar. He jetted back and forth between Tehran, Istanbul, Moscow and Cairo in his private jet. His sons Maaz and Abdel Salam sometimes lounge on hotel beds in Istanbul or Qatar's capital Doha for Instagram photos.

Maaz, the model son and himself a fabulously wealthy real estate mogul, is envied in the Gaza Strip as the ‘father of houses’. In Turkey, he likes to be seen with pretty women and alcohol, contrary to Islamic law.

His brother Abdel Salam fell from grace because he is alleged to have embezzled money as sports representative of the Hamas ‘Shura Council’ (politburo). The estimated fortune of the Haniyeh family is 2.5 billion dollars.

Khaled Mashal fled Damascus in 2012 ahead of the Arab Spring in Syria and found refuge in Qatar, from where he now conducts real estate and financial transactions for Hamas. When he fled to Qatar, he is said to have taken 1.5 billion dollars with him from Hamas headquarters in Damascus.

Mousa Abu Marzook lives a life of luxury in Cairo and regularly travels to meet with terrorist financiers in Qatar. After spending 14 years in the United States (green card, six children), he moved via Jordan (1998) and Syria (2001) to Cairo (2012) to represent Hamas and Gaza as a kind of foreign minister. His fortune is estimated at two billion dollars.

Younis Qafisheh (67) is one of Hamas's most important financial managers. Born in Jordan, he lives in Istanbul. Turkish President Erdogan issued him a passport under the alias Haşmet Aslan. Qafisheh was involved in directing Hamas operations and held key positions in several Hamas-controlled companies, including the Sudan-based Agrogate Holding and the Turkey-based company Trend GYO. A US Treasury Department report states that large portions of the multi-million dollar assets of the still-active Hamas corporation flowed to Hamas and its assassins. Trend GYO reported a net profit of 57.8 million Turkish lira (around two million euros) for 2022.

Marriage of the Lamb before the Second Coming of Christ

The *vision* takes place in heaven. And it may concern those who have departed in Christ, who are now with Christ in heaven. And being that it is a vision, the vision that follows may be a confirming vision, adding details, without a necessary chronological sequence between them.

In other words, the vision 1st acknowledges the departed saints in heaven. And the next vision shows how these saints are to join their fellows at Christ's 2nd Coming.

Rev 19.6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready....

The wedding has come, but it has not taken place yet. Then the ensuing vision provides more detail as to *when* it will take place, namely at the 2nd Coming...

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.

So, the departed in Christ are in heaven, awaiting the wedding, but it has not taken place yet in the vision. It is being anticipated.

What follows, then, is the 2nd Coming itself, which is the means by which Christ obtains the format in which the wedding takes place. And that wedding could very much take place *on the earth.*

Matt 25.The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet.

So, here is indicated that the wedding banquet takes place *after the Return to earth.* It is when the bridegroom comes.

Luke 12.35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.

Here, the indication is that the weddding banquet is perhaps another occasion from which Christ returns? Perhaps it indicates that Christ has already had a wedding banquet of sorts before this final one, to take place on the earth. Otherwise, the virgins would not have been awaiting the coming of the bridegroom.

I'm supposing that Christ himself probably had his own wedding feast of sorts, following his ascension. That is when he obtained his own resurrection body. The wedding he returns to involves our resurrection bodies, so that we can feast with him.

I don't think the idea means to indicate how this final wedding banquet will look. It may take place in a spiritual dimension, for all I know? But it seems to require his return to earth, where we can feast with him with literal earthly food and drink.

Mark 14.24 “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I appreciate your input. :)

Why is this forum so politically active?

God’s church, His truth was to put His will over the will of mankind and love all as self, thus acting in servitude to Him and each other in need. Simple and to the point without the human drama.
How does that differ from God's religion; I.e., Christian belief and way of life?

Judge's 'promise' let career criminal walk free to butcher Ukrainian refugee after his MOM said he should be locked up

(staff edit)

of course crime happens all the time, but it's not a normal thing for a white guy to brutally attack some random black guy who just happens to be nearby.

however, the inverse is very common. it is routine to see a black guy or 'teen' knocking out some random white person who just happens to be in the vicinity. it's actual racial hatred expressed violently out in the open and has been going on a long time.

(staff edit)

it's not a "race card" - it's reality. im not the one hiding from it.

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

Well, you need to be honest with yourself. You dont know either.
Where have I said otherwise? I'm not the one making assertions about who or what was on that boat.
Maybe it was carrying a load of rocks so valuable it has to be carried inside11 men's heads
Or maybe they were a bunch of kids on a school trip. The point is that none of us knows who or what was on the boat because the government has done nothing other than assert - without providing any evidence - that they were all drug traffickers. And, because they're all dead and the boat is destroyed, we have no way to verify that.

Why is this forum so politically active?

It may be useful until one feels strong enough to be in the world without membership in a clique. Jesus promoted a way of life, not a religion.
Wrong. . .the Christian belief and way of life is a religion.
Religion was His foe if one recalls.
Man's religion was his foe, God's religion was not if one recalls.

Here’s the No. 1 fallacy on eternal security

No, you just said that Orthodox Jews love too and that's somehow comparable to the supernatural gift of love given to believers. Uninformed opinion there.

I hope you understand that many of today's Christians disagree with you on the very topic at hand in this thread based on the word of God written only.
So only those in Christ are able to love their neighbor?

Lotta' folks, including Orthodox Jews, didn't get the memo.

Here’s the No. 1 fallacy on eternal security

And yet the answer was BIblically refuted.
No, you just said that Orthodox Jews love too and that's somehow comparable to the supernatural gift of love given to believers. Uninformed opinion there. But the real, and sad, truth, is that people don't understand it that the love God gives, and our acting on that love, is what will grow in us unto eternal life. Love is the definition of the holiness that results in that life.
I'm sure you'll understand if today's Christians choose to take their doctrine from the word of God written only.

Newsome pushed back against Democracy to achieve his political goals

Do you agree that Governor Newsom's policy / map is undemocratic?
Yes.
If so, what exactly are you defending?
1. I'm clarifying the difference between an undemocratic policy and an undemocratic action. You said "Newsom's actions are undemocratic," which is incorrect. The action that he is taking - proposing a change to the way that the state draws its election map and putting it to a statewide vote - is explicitly democratic. The proposal itself may not be democratic, but if the people want that, then they are entitled to get it. Who knows - they might vote "No."

2. I think your posts are ignoring the context here - namely that the only reason why Newsom made this proposal is that Texas did it first.

How is it that the Catholic Church is evil?

Realize that the Catholic Church was thriving before one word of the New Testament was written. Based upon Sacred Tradition, and with the Holy Spirit guiding the Catholic Church, the Church, in a process that spanned centuries, chose the 73 books of the Bible. The canon was not finalized until the late 300s. So the Catholic Church indeed used and uses Sacred Tradition far more than any Protestant denominations,in fact many Protestant denominations adopted, or at least maintain they adopted, Bible-only denominations and say they reject all tradition. In fact they do follow some traditions that are not explicitly stated in the Bible, such as the understanding of the Holy Trinity.
I wrote, “As I have written before, I don’t think that the Catholic Church is evil, but I’m not convinced that it doesn’t have a larger portion of tradition mixed with Scripture than other denominations.” All religions have some traditions that influence their doctrines. I just think that the Roman Catholic Church has more than average.

Another embarrassment - this time Trump is dead

The problem I have with the issue of Biden is the cover-up, or perhaps more accurately the obvious attempt to look the other way by the mainstream media. Biden's aides being quiet about it is something I don't like, but it's expected. The fact is, I expect the staff of any President to do their best trying to cover up that sort of thing. I'm sure there's stuff about Trump they're covering up.

But the press? The mainstream media by and large tried to ignore the issue; it was only the right-wing media that were pointing out the obvious questions about Biden. Why was the media so derelict in their duty to be asking serious questions about Biden's acuity? And why should people trust them now after this dereliction of duty?
Derail continues......
