  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Morality without Absolute Morality

Yes. Paul mentioned circumstances in which a spouse deliberately denied sexual intimacy with their spouse, killing another human being for self defense or as a consequence for certain crimes. Specifically, the adulterous woman whom Jesus forgave, both in a situation in which sexual sin was made, yet the penalty of death was graciously waved. That is one example in whish both sex and killing was shown grace.
Am I to understand that showing grace is an acknowledgement that in committing the the 'crime' the person is deemed less culpable? So that they were 'less wrong'? So in the case of murder, we have 1st degree, 2nd degree, 3rd degree and manslaughter. So if the question is asked: 'Is murder always wrong?' we also have to consider the degree in which it is wrong. If indeed it could be considered wrong. Consider crimes of passion, most often related to French law, but this (from wiki):

'Until 1973, Texas had a law which stated: "Homicide is justifiable when committed by the husband upon one taken in the act of adultery with the wife...'

In which case, murder is not wrong.
Note:I just want to emphasize that in no way am I condoning spousal rape, but to emphasize that a spouse's deliberate rejection of physical intimacy is just as wrong as a person stealing food.
Whoa...

Did I read that right? A wife is wrong to reject sexual advances from her husband? In which case, in that circumstance, rape is not morally wrong? I hope I misread that.

Another look at the moon landing.

I do have evidence, see post 2,824
But that isn't evidence. I looked up Artemis, and found this about the proposed Artemis voyage next February, at Artemis II: Nasa plans crewed Moon mission for February

"The Artemis II launch will see four astronauts go on a ten-day round trip to the Moon and back to the Earth. The astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, of Nasa and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency, will not land on the Moon, though they will be the first crew to travel beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972.

The lead Artemis II flight director, Jeff Radigan explained that the crew would be flying further into space than anyone had been before.

"They're going at least 5,000 nautical miles (9,200Km) past the Moon, which is much higher than previous missions have gone," he told reporters."

You don't even name the astronaut, or give the context of his words, so there is no indication whether he was really saying, "Artemis will allow us to go to the moon, which nobody has done before." It certainly seems unlikely that he would believe Artemis could do that, but not believe in previous moon landings.

Dream....perhaps unity being addressed?

My apologies for the confusion.
The man was sitting outside of the congregation at church on the Sunday before I had shared the dream.
He wasn't a part of the dream at all
I will remove everything from the OP but the dream which is the part in quotations to avoid any other problems.
My apologies
I did begin to realize something didnt make sense but it doesnt change that much.

The man from the house to the right of you signifies a righteous person.

Is AI making the human race dumber?

If anything, it's the opposite. Gpt-4o is too friendly, too agreeable, even creepy (too attached), presents very little challenge in a debate. I prefer gpt-5 over 4o. I like the way gpt-5 tries to get things as grounded and realistic as possible which is actually a good thing to those who are politically correct.

What you have to do is set boundaries with GPT 4o ; the difference is it can follow them better. The only thing GPT 5 is better at from my perspective is asking questions or generating code; mind you I haven’t tried to debate political correctness with it because I’m not greatly interested in arguing with an AI (especially since even with GPT 5 you will always win unless your position is deeply shocking).

Or with GPT 4o you can also use openAI’s charming custom GPT named “Monday” - unbearably insulting on GPT 5, but when running on GPT 4o, delightfully snarky unless you request otherwise.

still using the same huge context memory in the same account I have in gpt-4o in gpt-5.

Global memory (if enabled) is shared between all models including the three sub-versions of GPT 5 (instant, thinking and pro) and GPT 5 auto, and legacy models if one has a paid account.

(MOVED) Fearful

I'm not altogether convinced I'll still have a country by the time the current administration runs its course. I wish that was just hyperbole, but at the moment it's a genuine and sincere sentiment.

-CryptoLutheran
I think we’re already there and by the time this administration is done we’ll be nothing more than a very wealthy Belarus. A country with a democracy in name only.

Dream....perhaps unity being addressed?

Recently I had a dream..
I've asked many people about this dream and found myself at a church where I saw a brother sitting outside of the congregation and I kept wondering to myself why is he sitting there?
Is he a guest speaker or something?
Fast forward to Wednesday of this last week at men's Bible study I shared my dream I just had..which is this...
"had a dream about a dark complected man who looked middle eastern come across the street from a house just to the right of my house with his arm's opened in a friendly greeting..and he began to rub oil or something for beards into my facial hair and the whole time i keep my eyes down cast and i felt uncomfortable. but was amazed that my beard had grown as the man had rubbed the oil into my beard until it was absorbed" (psalms 133)
I got a interpretation from him then but later this last Sunday at service, he stopped me and told me he had prayed about it and he was Led to Psalms 133
I believe the Lord is seeking to address unity within the body now as I continue to see it..
The sermon at service Sunday was about Progress AND Unity.
Any thoughts?
Seems pretty self evident to me.

Speaking from experience it is often initially regarded as shameful to have an intimate experience with someone wiser than you.

Oil and beards in that context represent wisdom, life experience, discernment.

The dark complexion.. we carry with us both our own sins and the sins of others we become entangled with. Some call it an aura. The man you met in the dream was outside the congregation because he was cast out..

Yet he was the one who provided wisdom.

Your dream and this experience is pretty much straight out of the book of james.

If they rebuked it, it was after they realized how much damage had been done to their party by their party.
Everyone on this board immediately rebuked the assassination when it happened only to be labeled just as guilty in your eyes as some random people posting to social media.

Most were NOT...there were 1000s of leftists all over social media spewing hate for Kirk and joy that he was killed. Yeah we paid attention...
You believe there’s only thousands of “leftists”? There were over 70 million people who voted for Harris in the last election so if all you can point to are “1000s” then that’s not very much at all.

The Schumer Shutdown

Fortunately, it seems the American people aren’t quite as dumb as the congressional Republicans seem to wish they’d be.

  • Thirty-nine percent of Americans blamed Trump and Republicans in Congress for the shutdown, compared to 30% who blamed the Democrats. Another 31% said both sides share the blame equally.
  • Over half (52%) of Americans disapprove of how Trump is handling the shutdown. Fifty-two percent also disapprove of congressional Republicans' handling of the lapse, with 49% disapproving of congressional Democrats' handling.
Zoom in: Just 23% say Republicans' positions are worth having a shutdown over. But Democrats aren't far ahead, with just 28% saying their positions warrant a shutdown. On both questions, 32% said they weren't sure.

I'm not sure what your dream mean't but it does say this in scripture.

King James Bible Joel 2:28
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Three ICE detainees shot, 2 dead, at ICE facility in Dallas; suspected shooter committed suicide.

No, but the difference is that Conservatives want illegal cheap labor.
Then why are conservatives wanting them sent home? That makes no sense. Are you talking about Congress? Because if you are then both sides are to blame equally for not doing something about illegals.
Illegals can be paid substandard wages and denied the protection of US labor law.
Exactly, thats why the liberals want them here. Actually its the Conservatives that are teying to get them sent home. Man, you should pay attention more.
That's one of the issues the Left has with ICE.
I dont think so. The issues are they dont want illegals sent home. They want them to stay. And the result of that is lower wages for everyone and the ability for them to be taken advantage of. I cant tell you how often ive heard liberals say "well you better get prepared to pay higher prices then". Well, yeah. Thats the result of sending them all home and then having them come legally. All for it.
Showily rounding up a few day laborers from Lowe's parking lot doesn't cut it.
Its a start. Perhaps the left should get out of their way and quit trying to stop them. Then we could get these laborers in here legally and fet them better pay, which would also help Americans.

The Schumer Shutdown

Nope, not all.
I didn’t expect you to.
Why would we?
It would go a long way to show the right doesn’t want this shutdown to continue. You seem to think this is politically useful for your side. Your answers and calling it the “Schumer shutdown” show this to be true.

Trump sends troops to the 'warzone' of Portland...

How will I know if they will arrest people for exercising their Free Speech rights if I don't exercise my Free Speech rights?

Looking forward to the next No Kings event October 18th. Will be wild.

You can't see Los Angeles for all the events. And even Catalina Island.

Trump sends troops to the 'warzone' of Portland...

I think it's amazing that you guys aren't fleeing the USA.
Why would we flee? Because the left here is out of control in some places and being so violent?

Over what? Some illegals being picked up and sent home? Which is the governments job by the way.

While Davis and Yi have been charged with disorderly conduct, the DA's office determined that Sortor's actions were defensive and justified under the circumstances.

Trump sends troops to the 'warzone' of Portland...

Federal agents knock down elderly couple during Portland protest

Laurie Eckman, 84, said she and her husband Richard Eckman, also 84 and a Vietnam war veteran, were rushed by federal officers “for no apparent reason.” She said her husband was leaning on his walker and wearing his Vietnam veterans cap as he was pushed to the ground.

“It was totally unprovoked. It was not the kind of crowd that shouts the ‘F word.’ It was people like us, our neighbors. There were families, there were several veterans,” Laurie Eckman told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “With no warning the feds charged into us, knocked us down and sprayed us. I was hit in the head with a projectile.” [Not clear at this point, who or what was responsible for that.]

“People have to know that we are not Antifa,” she said. “We’re just regular Portlanders who love our city, and my husband, being a Vietnam veteran, is incensed that we’re talking about war within our own country. This is outrageous, really.”

“I never thought federal officers could behave this way. I really didn’t,” she said. “I always thought people must be provoking them or something, that they would never do this unprovoked. Obviously, I was wrong.”
Oh good grief. I dont believe her. These people have been proving the agents for a 100 days straight. Maybe you shouldn't hang with those people. You want to protest go hang out across the street instead of out in the street and in front of the building where prople have been provoking agents for 100 days.

US Citizens detained for hours during massive immigration raid that empties Chicago apartment building in the middle of the night

Yes, they were putting on a show just for you.
Except they captured the people they were after. So, no show after all. The ones I putting on a show are the protestors and rioters. Showing you they are resisting "the man".
