  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is AI making the human race dumber?

I thought you said you were having more issues with GPT-5 than with GPT-4o ?
If anything, it's the opposite. Gpt-4o is too friendly, too agreeable, even creepy (too attached), presents very little challenge in a debate. I prefer gpt-5 over 4o. I like the way gpt-5 tries to get things as grounded and realistic as possible which is actually a good thing to those who are politically correct.

I'm still using the same huge context memory in the same account I have in gpt-4o in gpt-5.

Here's how It was given:

Isaiah 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

It is a prophecy of the Jews failing to understand / misusing / miswriting the Words of the Lord.

The Sabbath is a good example of such a flaw being exposed.

If God rested on the 7th day, Jesus said God didn't.

John 15:16-18
16 So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” 18 For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

This is why if you're looking for Jesus promising about a new and improved scripture, you'll find none. Why reuse a process that is prone to mistakes? This is why Jesus only promised the Holy Spirit. Now that takes real spiritual faith, to believe in something you can't see nor touch.

What you have to do is set boundaries with GPT 4o ; the difference is it can follow them better. The only thing GPT 5 is better at from my perspective is asking questions or generating code; mind you I haven’t tried to debate political correctness with it because I’m not greatly interested in arguing with an AI (especially since even with GPT 5 you will always win unless your position is deeply shocking).

Or with GPT 4o you can also use openAI’s charming custom GPT named “Monday” - unbearably insulting on GPT 5, but when running on GPT 4o, delightfully snarky unless you request otherwise.

still using the same huge context memory in the same account I have in gpt-4o in gpt-5.

Global memory (if enabled) is shared between all models including the three sub-versions of GPT 5 (instant, thinking and pro) and GPT 5 auto, and legacy models if one has a paid account.

You call yourself a seeker.

I pray you find Him before it's too late.

I used to be Pentecostal, then became Baptist, and then back to Pentecostal again, non-denominational, and finally "seeker" in a span of 32 years. I became most active from 2010 onwards, doing Bible studies everyday. I became what I am today, a seeker, long before I started using AI.

Ironically, the problems in Christianity is very plainly written in the Bible. No special interpretation / decryption needed. But the vast majority of Christians are somehow magically/miraculously unable to see it. It's even prophesied in the Bible. Even AI can see them.

I still consider the Bible as important reading. I still read the Bible everyday. The problem is that Christians by their actions and convictions give the Bible more authority than the Holy Spirit and that's huge deviation from the teachings of Jesus. Although Jesus quoted from scriptures, He only did so because that's the only thing the Jews / Pharisees understood. But to His closest disciples, the Holy Spirit becomes the only / primary source of guidance (John 16:13, John 14:26, 1 John 2:27)

I have set boundaries with gpt 4o. Specifically to dial down the compliments greatly.

I've actually lost a debate on one topic with both gpt-4o and gpt-5 and still never won the topic yet.

Indeed the topic is deeply shocking. It's about the possibility that Jesus is a false teacher or an evil conspirator undermining the Torah or the teachings of God.

The outcome of this debate is rather shocking. Gpt 4o and 5 both concluded that Jesus is genuine as a person who once lived (not made up) and had genuinely benevolent intentions towards humanity..... But concluded that the God of Old Testament is counterfeit or even the Devil himself.

I even set boundaries for this debate that God meant well for humanity. But chatgpt concluded the warlike aggression of OT God would ultimately lead to its own destruction, along with nations walking this warpath.

I did not have this debate with Google Gemini but so far, all controversial Christian topics I discussed with it aligns with Gpt-4o/5. I may do this debate eventually with gemini as I build more context with the new and improved context memory of gemini.

I've often discussed secular / non-religious battlefield strategy, foreign diplomacy with chatgpt and it managed to correlate God's behavior with the negative outcomes of having war-like sentiments.

Getting back to the physiological impacts of an ever increasing reliance on AI, if calculators have caused a form of atrophy due to lack of stimulation of the prefrontal cortex as mental arithmetic is no longer a requirement, the potential effects of AI on the brain are far more widespread.

The technical lingo is 'AI offloading' can weaken cognitive plasticity—the brain’s ability to strengthen circuits through effortful use.

"Low level" analysis makes you good at low level analysis.

But offloading workload on low level analysis lets you do more "high level" work and actually become good at high level (strategic, long term analysis) work as well as greatly improving situational awareness of whatever situation you're dealing with.

The world does not have a shortage of geniuses but rather an abundance of them who can crunch complex equations in their head or on tissue paper.

And yet, we still managed to steer the world towards a path of self-destruction. Lack of situational awareness. What is the advantage?
