  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Elon Musk says he canceled his Netflix account — and urges his followers to as well

They can be, but if those themes are going to be injected into content marketed towards kids, then the notion of "parents pushing for boycotts" shouldn't be misrepresented as "meritless overreactions".

I'm sure if you found out your kids had been watching a kid's show you weren't aware existed called "Little Patriots" by Ted Nugent on a streaming service (that was delving into some conservative talking points about taxes and guns), and the parental controls you set wasn't catching it because the streaming service rated it as Y7... you wouldn't be wrong for having a bone to pick with that streaming service.
Why would it be caught by that? Is there violance, cursing, horror elements or nudity in the show?

LIVE MUSIC

Theres always the classic live Pink Floyd. There are so many versions nowadays with Waters and Gilmor split and having their own versions of the Floyd throughout the years.

My favorite is 'Pulse' with Gilmore. But I also like Rogers stuff when he built the giant wall on stage and his recent live concerts in Mexico and Spain which had a modern take.

Newsome pushed back against Democracy to achieve his political goals

In 2024 Newsom and Bass made cuts to firefighting budgets while Newsom authorized almost 10 billion for healthcare for illegal immigrants. It’s all on your keyboard my friend.
Nice nice nice... How about actually addressing the point that was being discussed?

Trump’s Domestic Use of Military Set to Get Worse, Leaked DHS/DoD Memo Shows: LA "hasn't been perfect" but indicates what's coming "for years to come"

Trump authorizes 300 National Guard in Chicago as [Trump-appointed] judge temporarily blocks his plan to deploy federal troops in Portland

The ongoing battle between the Trump administration and Democrat-led cities intensified this weekend, with a federal judge in Oregon hitting pause on the president’s plan to deploy federal troops in Portland, and the White House announcing authorization for hundreds of National Guard members to be sent to Chicago.

District Judge Karin Immergut granted a temporary restraining order Saturdayblocking Trump from sending the National Guard to Portland, ruling that city and Oregon officials “are likely to succeed on their claim that the President exceeded his constitutional authority and violated the Tenth Amendment” in ordering the deployment.

Immergut – a Trump appointee – said the president appeared to have federalized the Oregon National Guard “absent constitutional authority” and that protests in Portland “did not pose a ‘danger of a rebellion.’”

Demonstrators both for and against the National Guard deployment rallied outside the building, according to CNN affiliate KATU, whose crews reported seeing federal agents deploying multiple rounds of pepper balls, flash bangs and tear gas to clear streets.

Portland’s police department said its officers did not see any crimes against people or property during Saturday’s demonstration and that they made no arrests and did not use munitions.

[In Chicago, two people were arrested for allegedly ramming fed vehicles. One US citizen woman in the car was armed, shot by CBP, drove herself to the hospital and taken into FBI custody upon her release.]

On Saturday, the White House announced the president had authorized 300 members of the Illinois National Guard to “protect federal officers and assets” in Chicago, a move Trump has been promising for weeks.

“This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will,” [Gov.] Pritzker said on X Saturday. “It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.”

Illegal immigrant wanted on gun charges heads Iowa's largest school district

Some of it is meaningless credentialism, no doubt.

There's an old saying from the dictator's playbook, "show me the man, and I'll show you the crime", and I think that sums this up. Do we really want to live in a country where the government engages in politically motivated witch hunts, looking for relatively minor infractions for something that happened decades ago? It seems to me to be lacking in prudence and proportionality.
I do think lying about having a college degree for getting a job is pretty bad. And Im ok with it being a crime for acquiring public positions.

The guy should have laid low and worked in private industry or somewhere else.

Muslim Fundamentalism

They are the bad Muslims. The good Muslims imitate Muhammad as commanded by the Quran. There are 91 Quran verses commanding Muslims to imitate Muhammad in everything he did, making his actions the core of Islamic practice.

1. Muhammad personally committed acts identical to those of ISIS, so if he did it, it's Islamic.
2. Muhammad was a jihadist who performed 100 separate acts of violent jihad in his last nine years in Medina.
I'm not so sure about the numbers you provided, but according to Islamic teachings, Muslims are to emulate Muhammad's character traits like honesty, compassion, and humility and his ethical principles. Muslims also understand the historical context in which the Qur'an was written and see his actions as a warrior to have been appropriate for situations Muslims faced in the 7th century and not as mandates for Muslims to follow in 2025. So the "good Muslims" are the vast majority of the world's Muslims who put these principles into practice. The "bad Muslims" are the few who do not.

Islam lacks a Golden Rule; Muhammad's attacks on all neighbors (pagans, Christians, Jews) proves this, as he was a poor neighbor who attacked those who disagreed with him.
The Qur’an and hadiths have several references to the Golden Rule. Below are a few examples:

"None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself." (Sahih al-Bukhari (Book 2, Hadith 12)

"Whoever would like to be delivered from the Fire and enter Paradise—[let him act as though] his last day is tomorrow, and [remember] that he will be held accountable for everything, even [a small thing like] a strand of thread; and whoever would like to be saved from the Fire should treat people as he would like to be treated." (Sahih Muslim Book 45, Hadith 10)

"Fear Allah wherever you may be, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed and it will wipe it out, and behave well towards people." (Sunan al-Tirmidhi Book 27, Hadith 1987)

"There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm." (Sunan Ibn Majah Book 13, Hadith 2340)

"...if anyone slays a human being-unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth-it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind..." (Qur'an 5:32)

"...do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, the needy, the neighbor who is near, the neighbor who is a stranger, the companion by your side, and the traveler..." (Qur'an 4:36)

Christians Have No Right To Be Adultists

Its like communist or socialist. An adultist. Or adultism lol. Any restriction or exploitation of people because of their youth, as opposed to their ability, comprehension, or capacity, may be said to be adultist.

I think the poster meant Adulterous person. Someone given over to adultery.

In saying that why is adultery called adultery. The Ai overview mentions

Adultery is called adultery because the word comes from the Late Latin verb adulterare, meaning "to alter" or "to corrupt," which is a combination of ad ("towards") and alter ("other"). The name reflects the act of "making other" or corrupting the exclusive nature of the marriage bond, essentially altering the marriage by bringing in an "other" person.

To alter or corrupt the marriage bond that God made between man and women. Its interesting that it mentions corrupting the exclusive nature of the marriage bond.

Like its in our nature or in nature that marriage is between one man and one women for life. Like a committment and bondage that can never be broken.

This as opposed to the unnatural redefining of marriage as like either s business contract that can be broken or not having any natural or God give nature but as a socially constructed definition that reflects social norms. Whatever they may be. But always a human determination which is usually based on individual happiness and fullfillment as the main priority.
lol who knows. The OP did not return so I guess your answer is as good as any other.

Israel and the New Covenant.

I wasn’t missing any of this. But you were originally talked about the law needing to change which is the law of the priesthood, so I was providing the context why it had to be changed because Jesus didn’t come from the tribe of Levi, which is what was written in the law of Moses it had to come from, Jesus came from Judah, hence why the priesthood law had to change so Jesus could be our High Priest in the NC.
You missed the Christophany. Study the priesthood of Melchizedek.
Yes, but that doesn’t change its meaning. Most of the time they were talking about the Sabbath. In this instance its Sabbath-keeping, why its a different name in the Greek.

This is the figurative meaning, not the literal. I do believe there is also a figurative meaning as well. In God’s heavenly rest, there is no disobedience or rebellion to Him or His commandments, just peace Isa 48:18 Sin is unrest and we see this contrast in Rev 14:11-12.

But that doesn’t delete the fact the literal meaning as shown, means keeping the Sabbath which remains for God’s people which keep in harmony of God’s promise Psa89:34 Mat5:19.
The word has a different meaning in Mat 5:19. Sabbatismos, in the context of Heb. 4:9 does not mean sabbath keeping. The definition I posted is indeed literal. You can’t make up your own definitions. Other translations even render it as rest not sabbath. When a derivative of a word is used instead of the common word it means that the meaning is nuanced and not the same as the regular word otherwise why not just use the regular word.

NKJV

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

KJV

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So God is not Christ and Christ is not God. There is no dichotomy between God and Christ. This is a strange argument.

There is no Scripture that says this. It says clearly TODAY if you hear His voice don’t harden your heart as in the rebellion

Heb 4:7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”

Which is repeating what he said is Heb 3:7-19 and really repeating what David said in Psa 95.

Heb 95:7 Today, if you will hear His voice:
8 “Do not harden your hearts, as in the [c]rebellion,
As in the day of [d]trial in the wilderness,
9 When your fathers tested Me;
They tried Me, though they saw My work.
10 For forty years I was [e]grieved with that generation,
And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts,
And they do not know My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

Nothing about the day is today and is no longer Saturday. Not sure where you got that from but its not in the Text.
Nah you can’t make it up as you go. The verse is clear. Let’s look at it again. You can’t ignore portions of scripture to satisfy your belief. He sets a new day BECAUSE “it remains for some to enter it”. He can’t possibly be talking about Israel here but of the church. Many are still yet to enter His rest. This is Christ post crucifixion rest and TODAY means any day. Christ wants us to worship Him daily not just one day of the week.

“Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who previously had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience, He again sets a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.””
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
Keep in mind God of the Universe who does not change named the Sabbath, it’s the only day He gave a number and a name and claimed it has His.
And Jesus changed it to TODAY. Jesus is God and can change what He wishes.

God said when is the Sabbath written and spoken by God plainly Exo20:10 we either believe Him or we don’t and believe when He said He would not alter His words Psa89:34. If we don’t build our foundations around what the God of the Universe said, we are told to live By Mat4:4 I am afraid we are building our house on sand.
Exo 20:10 belongs to the old covenant. Jesus brought the new covenant and the new covenant IS different than the old covenant. The Christian is NOT under the old covenant.
This warning is exactly what people are doing today. Histroy repeats itself as we see from the pattern in Scripture Eze20:13 Heb4:11
The warning is from Eze 20:13 has nothing to do with Heb 4:11. What confession are we to hold firmly to? The gospel of good news of course.

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let’s hold firmly to our confession.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
Yes, nothing at all about Today being the Sabbath, the Sabbath no longer the seventh day, Jesus is the Sabbath commandment therefore we can profane God’s Sabbath and holy day.

Oh now Jesus is not God? Strange argument.
These are all made up ideas and nothing the Text says.
The text is clear. The Christian is not under the law and we worship the lord TODAY.
I would be happy to go though each verse with you line by line, if I felt it would make a difference.
I did that for you a few posts back and you ignored it. Go figure.

Nothing is going to convince you we should keep the Sabbath, thats okay, it’s a choice. For me, I do not see anywhere in Scripture the Sabbath commandment has been abrogated.
You are reading scripture with a conscious bias. You have to remove your rose color glasses to see the truth. You need to let the evidence prove your case instead of forcing the evidence to attempt to match your incorrect understanding. Every time that one’s understanding causes tension in scripture it means that we are forcing the interpretation. Your interpretation causes a ton of tension.

God, omnibenevolent or omnipotent and omniscient?

The first fall, of angels led to displeasure and grief to God. Their temptations and accusations lead to the death and condemnation of persons God loves. The original plan was the Garden of Eden, or pleasure, paradise. Pain and suffering builds character in amidst the disordered state, the flesh and appetites. It is a penalty. Better a reward than a penalty.

Before sin the angels were autonomous.

I'd say as at first that there is no hidden purpose for which God needs evil and suffering. That is why I mention almighty God. He doesn't need the fallen angels but can use them. God knows better ways. The surpassing the temptations holy angels were not penalised. Because God is so good, He does not force our free wills.
This is all just speculation on your part. Do you think God was somehow taken off guard when the fall happened? If so, why was the lamb slain before the foundation of the world?

Illegal Immigration

In the workforce

Illegal immigrants within the workforce are extremely vulnerable due to their status. Being illegal makes these individuals susceptible to exploitation by employers as they are more willing to work through bad conditions and low income jobs—consequently making themselves vulnerable to abuse.[119] Most illegal migrants end up being hired by US employers who exploit the low-wage market produced through immigration.

Your source

Do you support this?
Of course not. Only conservatives support such things. That's why ICE is avoiding those situations except for specially staged show raids.

Can we talk about ADHD... and such ?

When you say "mental illness" I assume you mean a disease of the mind. What, in modern scientific terms, is the mind?
There's certainly more to it than is often admitted, but there's always some brain dysfunction that is present in mental illnesses.
All "physical" diseases actually refer to some body part or biological system that can be seen and tested with objective scientific methods.
The contents of DSM-V predominantly do not, they refer to a body part which does not physically exist, the mind, and there is no objective means by which a "normal mind" has been identified.'
The mind is very closely associated with the brain, which is a physical organ.
"misdiagnosis rates reached 65.9% for major depressive disorder, 92.7% for bipolar disorder, 85.8% for panic disorder, 71.0% for generalized anxiety disorder, and 97.8% for social anxiety disorder."

"Consumers" may be perplexed as to why providers using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-Edition 5) sometimes can't match the criteria listed with distinct mental disorders...

However, a key factor may be the limited time period that most people with mental health problems have with providers. Most complicated mental diagnostic categories require long-term interaction with the client and the ability to pick up on nuances in behavior and recollections.

Unfortunately, many clients don't know the specific language to use that reflects the medical criteria in the DSM, and so medical symptoms are sometimes not communicated clearly. Furthermore, many symptoms of mental health conditions overlap." from here No Shame On U — The Misdiagnosis of Severe Mental Health Disorders
How were those numbers arrived at, and what characterized 'misdiagnosis"?
These numbers are huge, they are error rates, and they exist because there is a significant lack of science applicable to "mental health" compared to all other medical problems. So, less medical or not, there is a big problem with objectivity in diagnosis and therefore any effective help, while the patients continue to suffer and be at risk of real harm.
Where did those numbers come from?
Please note - to all who have mental health problems - do not suddenly stop taking your medication, if you wish to cease taking it, get proffessional help, I believe your suffering is real, and I do not mean that you just lack faith. Whatever you are living with or in, Jesus cares.
You seem to be contradicting yourself with this, since the tone of the rest of your post seems to be in the vein of denying the reality of mental illness and the abilities of the professionals to properly treat it.

Israel is losing Americans (support)

Consider researching Hamas before making provocative remarks about Netanyahu.

It may be beneficial to investigate instances in which Hamas have mistreated or oppressed their own citizens. It may be worthwhile to research how Hamas behead their own citizens. May be do some reading about how Hamas remove young boys from Palestinian families to train them to be solder like they did in 7th century Ottoman empire. May be do some research how Hamas stoning rape victims or put to death Palestinian gay man.
Yes, HAMAS are bad guys. They are pursuing a vicious nationalist insurgency which is being brutally suppressed. If you want to stop the fighting you have to deal with the people who are leading the fighting, because they are the only ones with the power to stop it, even if you think their power is illegitmate.

So many claim the condition, that its occurrence is almost expected.
I'm not sure what you mean by this.
I am not opposed to medicine.
Ok
Mental conditions are not always physiological.
There's always a physiological element to them. And the treatment is between the patients and their doctors.

Has Kirk's Death Prompted You?

To put their faith on the line.
We know that among Christians there is a wide variety of what faith can look like. From Martin Luther King Jr to the horned shaman of January 6th fame, from Christian Nationalists to Rev William Barber. So we need deeper prayer and discernment but most of all humility to most effectively “put our faith on the line.”

Trump Orders Flags to Half-Staff for Charlie Kirk

He musted have been respected enough back 2012 to be invited give a Ted Talk

According to ResearchGate his published works have been cited over 150 times, and I'm not aware of him being involved in any scandals or perceived scandals prior to the "Day of Absence" controversy.

Although, I'm not sure if a higher ranking on Scopus would've made a difference.

I'm sure we all remember what happened to this guy when he went against the grain on a different polarizing subject

View attachment 371109
What does ted talks have to do with it? He has two publications! 150 citations in over 20 years is nothing to brag about, I have 242 since 2020 (thank you for giving me an opportunity to brag :) ), and I'm a junior researcher. What ever academic career Bret had it was not impressive. Bret Weinstein does not become a better academic because there is someone else with a higher h-index, even if they share some convoluted circumstances. How is that even relevant?
