  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The 2025 Government Shutdown Thread

This is a matter of semantics.

Illegal immigrants MUST be served by the hospital if they show up at the emergency room.

Let us say that they have no money and would qualify for Medicaid if they were a citizen.

Then the hospital submits this to the feds and is reimbursed by REPUBLICANS at a rate less than when DEMOCRATS were in charge,
=========
So, yes, they are now and continue to be under either the Democratic or Republican legislation.
It is a bit more then semantics. It is taking one possible outcome and re-framing it as a primary motivation.

It is the equivalent of claiming that Republicans want to spend money bombing brown children because they are for increased defense spending. It is not the primary motivation and is a possible incidental outcome.

law discussions belong in the law/sabbath area, or controvertial.

All laws, when they are in effect by the living word of God, are moral laws. The question becomes, are they in effect now?

When such laws are given in a set, in conjunction with an entire set of laws contained in a single covenant, then these moral laws are required as long as that covenant remains in effect. If that covenant goes away, some of those moral laws may continue in a new covenant, which we know they do.

And, I might add, if we obey laws under a particular covenant, such as the Law of Moses, we are obligated to keep all of them. We can't just select the 10 Commandments as a token of our obedience to the Law.

The difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant is that the Old was required of Israel and consisted of their flawed record, but one recorded in faith. By contrast, the New Covenant is the record of Christ, which was flawless, and something he chose to give us so that we can participate with him in his own righteousness. By his spotless record we obtain with him Eternal Life.

So the moral law may be the same, at times, from Old to New Covenant. But what system we are living under makes the difference as to whether our record keeps us from Eternal Life or his flawless record enables us to receive Eternal Life.

When we obey the eternal moral law prohibitting us from murder, for example, we are obeying this as we trust in Christ to give us his life and Spirit, along with his requirement that we live through him alone, and not by our own works. We conform our works to his guidance so that what we do conforms to him the best we can. We show in this our faith that he will forgive our sins and continue to endow us with his righteousness since we've chosen to enter into covenant with him.

We either live under a system that depends upon us keeping all of those laws, moral and ritual, and preserves our flawed record. Or, we live under Christ who gives us the benefit of his own flawless record. One leads to failure, and the other leads to life.
The 4th commandment has always been ritual not moral. It was set up as a day of rest to save the land and was observed in ritual form. The legalists will want you to believe that just because the church worships on Sunday instead of Saturday that we live in sin. If you believe that the 4th commandment is moral then that is the logical ending. If you consider that the 4th commandment is moral in both the old and the new covenant then the logical end is the same.

law discussions belong in the law/sabbath area, or controvertial.

Christianity is not supposed to thrive/be busy by dispute, is that not partly why there are different areas for different discussions, but how can teaching of law, commandments, sabbath, belong in a general area, and not where people who seek that, go to, exactly as the attempt to curcumcise and keep the law were rejected. If these subjects are not put away, it shows a different judgement to Gods seen below again..
Covenant theology could have been such an area. But was closed down. There could be a place to discuss the covenants, that would/could work well for this.

Acts 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Acts 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
The synagogue taught the covenant of Noah, to the God fearers in attendance.

Ac 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

1. This was from "old time" of Ezra, by decree of Cyrus/Artaxerxes

Ezra 7:21 And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

2. God Fearing, of God's wrath on the realm of the king, and his sons

22 Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons? {Whatsoever … : Chaldee, Whatsoever is of the decree }
24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

3. Synagogues set up to be courts of judgement, and teach the law of God to all which knew it not

25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.

26 And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment. {to banishment:

Another liberal judge injects her politics into law...

President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele on X:

"If you don’t impeach the corrupt judges, you CANNOT fix the country. They will form a cartel (a judicial dictatorship) and block all reforms, protecting the systemic corruption that put them in their seats." / X

Dude needs to shut his creepy face and mind his own business.

Are infants guilty because of Adam's sin?

That's what I'm trying to do for you, but you don't accept it.
Because you don't present a Biblical demonstration, you just assert what you think.
You keep on making assertions without any exegesis.
What would you like me to exegete?

TikTok recommends porn and highly sexualised content to children, says report

In late July and early August this year, researchers from campaign group Global Witness set up four accounts on TikTok pretending to be 13-year-olds.

They also turned on the platform's "restricted mode", which TikTok says prevents users seeing "mature or complex themes, such as… sexually suggestive content".

Without doing any searches themselves, investigators found overtly sexualised search terms being recommended in the "you may like" section of the app.

At its most extreme, the content included explicit pornographic films of penetrative sex.

These videos were embedded in other innocent content in a successful attempt to avoid content moderation.

Ava Lee from Global Witness said the findings came as a "huge shock" to researchers.

"TikTok isn't just failing to prevent children from accessing inappropriate content - it's suggesting it to them as soon as they create an account".

They informed TikTok, which said it had taken immediate action to resolve the problem.

But in late July and August this year, the campaign group repeated the exercise and found once again that the app was recommending sexual content.

How to Respond to the Cross-Dressing Man at Mass? DIFFICULT MORAL QUESTIONS: What we do and what we tolerate both witness to what we believe.

Like Michie said....trying to threaten us?
No.

Of the many things I am trying to do, none of them is "threaten" you.

And I don't see how a reasonable person could feel threatened by having their ideas challenged.

All I wanted was for you or Mich to come back with a strong counterargument.

I was disappointed.

Israel is losing Americans (support)

So if HAMAS can force the fighting to continue, even if many Palestians don't want it to, then you are going to have to deal with HAMAS if you want the fighting to stop. There is no other way around it. What happens after the fighting stops is another question entirely.
Perhaps a question that should be adressed at some point. So far, the world seemed content to let the problem fester as long as not too many rockets fly out of Gaza and at Tel Aviv.

Hell doesn't exist and there is no eternal suffering, instead bad peolle just cease to exist

Dan. 12: 1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting "life", and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Again, is "Contempt" from the Everlasting "Eternal Life"? Are these not opposites here?

Gehenna was a dump outside of the City of David, in the Valley of Hinnom, where Jerusalem burned all of it's trash. Jesus spoke of this several times. What greater shame is there, than to be cast out into a dump by God, prepared for the immortal angels, that burns the trash. Jesus quoted Daniel in the verse you posted.

So the arguments are the same.

Ez. 18: 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure "in the death" of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Heb. 6: 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of "eternal judgment."

So according to Scriptures, what is the "Eternal Judgment" for immortal satan and his immortal angels? They are cast into the burning dump that burns forever, because satan and his angels are immortal, therefore, their eternal punishment can never stop, and it will continue even after all the other refuse is burned.

What is the "Eternal Judgment" for mortal humans? A second "DEATH", not Life. Is it not to be cast into this same dump that burns forever with the other Tares? Will mortal humans not be destroyed with "Everlasting destruction"? Is it not Death, "Everlasting"?

Where is the teaching found that God grants unrepentant sinners eternal life? Where is it written that EVERYONE is raised from the dead, and given the Right to the Tree of Life, that they all can "put forth their hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever" in the eternal punishment prepared for satan and his immortal angels?

I get that the tradition is an old one, and quite popular with this world's religious system. But if a man considers ALL that is written, it becomes clear, at least to me, that God doesn't raise His creation from the dead, that "chose death over Life", only to force immortality on them, then tortures them along with immortal satan and his angels, that God Himself placed into this world, for ever and ever and eternity.

It's a great study though, and one that is good for men seeking God's Righteousness to engage in, in my view.
That is very interesting. I have to think about this for a while, and I’ll probably get back to you tomorrow. I hope that somebody more knowledgeable than me will comment. God can do whatever He likes, and He can destroy a soul that He has made. I’m not fully convinced. However, the destruction of the soul is probably worse than the destruction of the body, even if the destruction does not take eternity.

Three Arkansas residents arrested and charged with voting illegally last year

I was pleased that the Republicans were able to gather over 100,000 poll watchers and introduce so many election integrity standards. Despite Lara Trump's warning at a Turning Point USA tally that those voting illegally would be prosecuted some still did.
I oddly enough, when those rare cases of voter fraud are uncovered it's usually a Republican.
