  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Emergency abortion denials by Catholic hospitals put woman in danger, after her water broke at 17 weeks, lawsuit claims

I would not think so....An employer would not be able to provide Insurance with religious restrictions. It also sounds like this is the third time this has happened. Something fishy with this story. Whatever happens with this pregnancy they have to pay for, even the sepsis event that occurred.
It’s not the insurance refusing t cover the procedure, it’s the hospital refusing to provide it.

Emergency abortion denials by Catholic hospitals put woman in danger, after her water broke at 17 weeks, lawsuit claims

Last September the state filed a similar lawsuit against a Catholic hospital in Eureka after a woman whose water broke at 15 weeks was denied an emergency abortion. That hospital then agreed to provide emergency abortions in cases where a woman’s health is at risk.
This is a different network, but perhaps an even more terrifying story. second link.

Eureka hospital agrees to provide emergency abortions following lawsuit by state

  • Providence St. Joseph Hospital allegedly gave a hemorrhaging patient buckets and towels and directed her to another hospital 12 miles away.
According to the complaint, Anna Nusslock visited Providence in pain and severely bleeding in February and was diagnosed with previable premature pre-labor rupture of membranes, meaning that her twins would not survive birth. Providence informed her that, as long as one of her twins had a detectable heartbeat, hospital policy prohibited staff from providing an emergency abortion until her life was at even greater risk than it already was, according to the complaint.

[The hospital] allegedly placed her life at risk by telling her to drive to Mad River Community Hospital, a smaller critical access hospital 12 miles away, armed with a bucket and towels, while she was hemorrhaging.

Help with Mark 9:29

It's a textual criticism issue. I've checked Mark 9:29 and it seems none of the early Greek manuscripts have the 'and fasting' phrase, the earliest appearance of the phrase in any language seems to be the Codex Amiatinus (+/- 700 AD). Earliest Greek source is 9th century AD. So it's fairly safe to conclude this is not an original phrase from the author of the Gospel according to Mark. That is reflected in the current Nestle-Aland 28th edition (NA28 - 2012) - the kind-of scholarly accepted 'best-effort' reconstruction of the NT writings. And that is the Greek version most modern Bible translations are based on. The NKJV is an exception because it uses the same Greek text as the KJV (see my note below on that).

Many passionate believers find it difficult to deal with the uncomfortable truth that NT writings have a history .. variations emerged, sometimes phrases were added, sometimes omitted - sometimes this was done accidentally, sometimes intentionally. Biblical Historians are able to provide fascinating examples of that. This observation underscores the importance of the Science of Textual Criticism - it aims to most accurately reconstruct the original writings (and their path of development if any).

This observation does not shake my faith at all - even when taking the results Textual Criticism into account - the main message of the NT writings remain sufficiently accurate to base my faith on.

A famous example is the Johannine Comma (1 John 5:7-8) - when studying the complete history/development of this verse throughout time and over the various language groups (Greek, Aramaic, Latin) it's not difficult to conclude this was not an original verse. Interesting note: the before mentioned Codex Amiatinus (which does have the 'and fasting' phrase for Mark 9:29) doesn't have it.

The KJV (and other translations from the 16th - 17th century AD) were based on the Greek standardised Text from Erasmus - he didn't have access to the earlier Greek manuscripts (I believe his earliest Greek sources were 12th century AD). We now know simply more than Erasmus did, and hence we can reconstruct a 'better' Greek Text, and with that, hopefully translations more representative of the originals (which we don't have anymore).

Btw ... I think fasting is recommended practice from the Bible; be blessed Carl !
And I posted this verse ,v. 1 TIM 4:1-4 and have already posted it , as Demons are all around even as I type. !!

And I have an explanation on. the DISPENSATION only section !!

Maybe her employer chose it.

Illegal Immigration

I don't know why folks would think that the majority of those detained would have criminal records. After all, even if all we deported only those with criminal records, there needs to be a place where they are detained while that status is checked.

That being said, Trump (and most voters) want to deport the vast majority of those who came in illegally under Biden whether they have criminal records or not.

Democrats should agree, well only if they want Democrats elected.

Those who have been here for many years and have worked for many years are a different situation entirely, Dreamers and others.
Yep. They have had an app for self deportation, in a very nice way, from the start. And warn illegals about not taking advantage of it. But some want to pretend only the worst were to be deported. No, it is all illegals. The focus however have been on the worst criminals of course, and let self deportees, do so. And millions have done so. They do not need to GO AFTER many of these, they come to them.

War Secretary Hegseth orders rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals, admirals Sep 30 in Virginia

Man, you called it!

The shaving thing is directed against the Black soldiers because folliculitis (inflamed beard follicles) is common among them. Most have been allowed to keep a stubble - this was in some military news a short while back.
As I explained at length earlier, the new rules are no different from the rules I served under...and it made no difference in black enlistment. Black men were still winning.

A problem is that because the desire today we wear a beard is so strong, exceptions have been made, such a whole lot of white men wearing beards claiming to practice the "Norse Religion," without the normal questions of other religious exemptions. Soldiers have been wearing far more than just the stubble we were allowed, wearing full-length trimmed beards. Under the religious exemptions, some are wearing dreadlocks. This is Gen Z, remember, and Gen Z difficulties with fitting in to any firm structure are legion and legendary.

Basically, it all got pushed too far too quickly (give it another 20 years, though).

Also, at the same time this was happening with a lot of other accommodation demands and pressures, many of which indeed do decrease the ability of US forces to fight and win wars. I have not at all been a defender of DEI in the armed forces.

Well that's wrong. He said, "if you want to applaud, applaud" in the future tense as in 'respond however you want to'. Are people supposed to not hear what he actually said and not discern the context of it?
Ordinarily, the military would not applaud.

But this kind of thing is exactly what I pointed out earlier: Who wants to be seen not applauding? In that kind of setting, nobody wants to be this guy.

I wonder if whoever stopped applauding first was noted.

WW3 soon?

Europe is preparing just in case, IMO. So a big war is not a done deal, yet.

I think the situation is serious. The world is like a forest ready to burn down to the ground. But just because it is ready doesn't mean it will burn down today. We have to wait.

Anybody in the US needs a passport and foreign bank account. Just in case.

[18-Sept-2025] 5 Places World War III Could Start Right Now - National Security Journal

Key Points from "5 Places World War III Could Start Right Now"
  • Introduction to Flashpoints: The article identifies five potential starting points for World War III in 2025: the Taiwan Strait, NATO’s eastern front (Ukraine, Black Sea, Baltics), Israel-Iran theater, Korean Peninsula, and India-China Himalayas border. These are not ranked, and the author invites reader debate.
  • Taiwan Strait and First Island Chain: Beijing's push for "reunification" ties into regime legitimacy, risking a blockade or coercion via exercises, missiles, cyber attacks, and ambiguity. Geography funnels traffic, drawing in U.S., Japan, and Philippines; miscalculations like collisions or misfires could escalate to great-power conflict, disrupting global supply chains.
  • NATO’s Eastern Front (Ukraine, Black Sea, Baltics): Ongoing Ukraine war risks spillover via stray missiles, drones, or naval incidents in the crowded Black Sea. Baltic vulnerabilities like Kaliningrad and Suwałki Gap could trigger Article 5 through sabotage or harassment, leading to tit-for-tat escalation and alliance credibility tests.
  • Israel-Iran Theater (Levant to Gulf): Shadow war has escalated to direct missile/drone exchanges and proxy actions at chokepoints; both sides assume the other will back down amid domestic pressures. Chain reactions could involve Hezbollah, Houthis, U.S. forces, and energy route disruptions, turning limited strikes into theater-wide war.
  • Korean Peninsula: Least changed but highly volatile due to North Korea's missiles/artillery and survival obsession versus South Korea's retaliatory capabilities and U.S.-Japan ties. Sparks like sea clashes or missile tests could lead to artillery barrages, precision strikes, and nuclear signaling, escalating rapidly under public scrutiny.
  • India-China Himalayas: Disputed, high-altitude border between nuclear powers features deadly skirmishes, rapid infrastructure buildup, and reduced warning times. Patrol clashes could spiral into artillery/air duels, drawing in U.S./Russia as suppliers and risking nationalistic incidents over downed aircraft.
  • Why Risks Are Worse in 2025 Than a Decade Ago: Increased speed from drones/missiles/hypersonics compresses decisions; ubiquitous sensors amplify misread signals; gray-zone tactics (militias, cyber, proxies) enable dangerous probing; fragmenting deterrence fosters overconfidence in controlled escalation.
  • Prevention Measures:
    • Hard Power: Survivable assets like submarines, anti-ship missiles, layered defenses, and sustained logistics tailored to each theater.
    • Crisis Channels: Empowered hotlines, deconfliction rules for air/maritime/unmanned systems, and protocols for incidents.
    • Clear Red Lines and Off-Ramps: Explicit triggers for response, listening to adversaries' limits to avoid misreading.
    • Economic Resilience: Buffers for supply-chain/energy shocks to allow measured responses.
  • Conclusion: WWIII is not inevitable but closer due to state-on-state risks; success depends on credible posturing, clear communication, and open channels to build "firebreaks" before crises erupt, as escalation could happen in minutes.

Illegal Immigration

It is not limited deportation of the worst. Many, as well have taken advantage of the self deport offer. If they do not take this offer their deportation when they find them will be much more difficult FOR THEM. There is clarity that it is not just limited to the worst.

China Bought $12.6 Billion in U.S. Soybeans Last Year. Now, It’s $0.

Each week, the Agriculture Department publishes a summary of the latest exports of American crops. Lately, they have all been missing the same thing: The sale of soybeans to China.

Here's what it looked like under Trump 1.0, showing both US and Brazil. Some of the near zero-ness in May 2018 (and this year) is the seasonality of soybeans in the different hemispheres, but yes going into September/October things should be shooting for US exports to China.

A wider view to show the seasonality (and the 2018 disruption to US exports)

War Secretary Hegseth orders rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals, admirals Sep 30 in Virginia

WaPo

AI Overview

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered an urgent and unprecedented gathering of hundreds of U.S. generals and admirals at a Marine Corps base in Virginia, causing widespread confusion within the Department of Defense. The unusual directive, which did not state a reason for the meeting, was sent to virtually all of the military's top commanders worldwide.

  • The rare meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia.
  • Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed the meeting, telling The Washington Post that Hegseth "will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week," but offered no further details.
It was good to see that the military brass didn't give Trump what he wanted. They say there in silence.

It seemed so easy for the thief on the cross to be saved.

Father of the goats
Jesus called them sons of the devil.

Regarding judgement, it is Jesus will say to many, depart from me i never knew you. Thems dont go to the father except through Jesus.

Do you read your bible?
