  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Trump DOJ goes "woke" and will target free speech.

Charlie Kirk’s Group Held Its First Post-Assassination Campus Event. It Was Extreme—and Revealing.

Revenge against “the left” is on the near-term agenda, but even the group’s leaders are concerned about what comes after that.

The first event, in Minneapolis, for example, started with a very particular character in Michael Knowles, a conservative radio and podcast host associated with the Daily Wire.

“Christian forgiveness does not demand we allow the cruel to ravage the whole earth; it demands we love our enemies,” he said. “In politics, love usually means punishing the guilty, both for the protection of the innocent as well as for the good of the criminals.”

Knowles wants the right to act decisively and drastically, to use the groundswell of public support to crack down hard on opponents. In particular, Knowles was concerned with the idea of “free speech”—something that Kirk has been celebrated as a champion of, but something that has also divided the right in the aftermath of the killing, as the administration has moved to label those who criticized Kirk as supporting left-wing violence. Knowles, it seems, sides with the administration:

In the wake of Charlie’s assassination, many are inclined to redouble our devotion to the marketplace of ideas. This instinct, I think, misses a crucial step. We had a marketplace of ideas. The left shot it up. If we wish to restore the healthy exchange of ideas, we need to refortify the marketplace. Marketplaces of all kinds require rules, confidence, and common medium of exchange. They require, in other words, order.

When the 'real you' doesn't want to sin

"I need to stop doing it. After all, I am a Christian."

Do you ever find yourself feeling this way after becoming entangled in a particular sin? Deep down you hate that thing because you know it is unrighteous, but in moments of temptation and weakness, you go back to it.

First of all, thank God that the Lord places a holy hatred for sin within every one of His children. Just imagine if, rather than hating to sin, you relished sin and couldn't wait to engage in it over and over again. Thankfully, believers in Jesus want to live a different life, a holy life.

Born-again people are "a new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17) who want to say "no" to temptation and sin. We desire to please Christ who now lives in us, and our body is "a temple of the Holy Spirit" (1 Corinthians 6:18).?

At the same time, a "basement room" sinful nature remains within your soul. Your old nature previously dominated your life, back when "you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of the world" (Ephesians 2:2).

Your old nature is the old you, while the real you today is who you want to be as a follower of Christ. Your sinful nature was put to death when you were converted, (see Romans 6:6-8) but these sinful desires are still hanging around in the basement. And although somewhat dormant, these desires are extremely dangerous and spiritually toxic, especially when willfully pursued.

Continued below.https://www.christianpost.com/voices/when-the-real-you-doesnt-want-to-sin.html
And that's all well and good as long as we don't use this concept as an excuse for sinning, or remaining in our sin as if Jesus somehow made it ok for Christians to sin but not for unbelievers.

Why we Christians still have to struggle with sins?

Even after being born again, God doesn’t take away all of our sinful struggles right away. Instead, He walks with us through them. The Christian life is not about instant perfection but about growing closer to Christ day by day. Our battles with sin keep us humble, remind us of our need for His grace, and teach us to lean on His Spirit instead of our own strength.
Yes, and it's not a done deal until and unless we've persevered to the end, at which time God gives us His perfect and just verdict. Until then, we can still fail, we can still turn back away from Him, we still struggle with the choice between good and evil, life and death, God and no God, heaven and hell. Here's a teaching I've come to appreciate:

"The whole of man's history has been the story of dour combat with the powers of evil, stretching, so our Lord tells us, from the very dawn of history until the last day. Finding himself in the midst of the battlefield man has to struggle to do what is right, and it is at great cost to himself, and aided by God's grace, that he succeeds in achieving his own inner integrity.303"

Anyway, it's a good struggle, one in which we can be refined, purifed, sanctified.

BUSTED - 12 False theories refuted:

In no way does that truth mean there can never be another physical Temple.
Bible Prophecies tell us all about the new Temple to be built in Jerusalem, in the end times. The Satanic man will sit in it and declare himself to be God, 2 Thess 2:4
And your ( that there can be another physical Temple ). seem. that you are grasping at STRAWS. , WITH NO VERSE !!

President Trump Signs Executive Order to Defund NPR and PBS

Now we'll see what happens when the last bastion of culture leaves New Jersey. Jersey Shore was only the beginning.

NJ PBS, New Jersey’s only dedicated public television channel, will cease operations in the Garden State next summer

“The recent cuts by the federal government and New Jersey state government have been very significant."

In 2011, former Gov. Chris Christie ended 40 years of funding for public television

Micah Rasmussen, the director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University, said the demise of NJ PBS, while not surprising because of the cuts that have been made, is very problematic for Garden State residents.

“Newspapers have all but disappeared and you really have to fend for yourself at this point to get information and to stay informed,” he said.

Kamala Harris says picking a gay man for VP was too big of a risk

It's not hypocrisy to recognize a reality and choose to act on it.

In this case, choosing a VP who, in reality, was more likely to help her get elected.
Here's a thought, maybe she should have kept it to herself .
From excerpts of her book and her interviews it seems there are a lot of things she should have kept to herself.
She's burning all her bridges blaming everyone else, not smart if she plans to run again

As Texas Flood Deaths Rise, Officials Blast Faulty Forecast by National Weather Service

Why would anyone put their child in the care of a organization that failed that catostropically? Never mind what fool is insuring the place now…
Presumably, it's under new management.

They did point to new laws on the books.

Anyone up for a chat thread?

In the chronicles of unexpected ministry opportunities, I gave first communion to a woman who must be around 60 today. She is the home aide for one of the shut-ins. She was very moved by the experience. Not knowing that this was going to happen, I had no documentation for her. But it came to me to give her one of the bulletin sheets I use for home communion, dated and signed.

Trump joint session speech: "So to our farmers, have a lot of fun. I love you too. I love you too."

Sorghum prices continue to fall as exports to China fall 97%

Kansas is one of the leading producers of sorghum in the world, but the price per bushel is $.40 less than a year ago, continuing a consistent decline that began in 2022.

Sorghum is the world’s fifth-most important cereal crop that is primarily used for cattle feed, syrups and ethanol production. Kansas leads the U.S. in production, having produced 57% of the national sorghum supply from 2021-2023. The harvest runs from September to November annually.

“In general, we are looking at really strong sorghum harvest this fall across the state in terms of yields.” said Lucas Laag, associate professor at K-State Southwest Research-Extension Center – Tribune. “This is going to put significant pressure on our grain elevators to find storage space for sorghum, a large portion of the crop will likely be ground piled to keep bin space open for other crops that are of higher value and more susceptible to spoilage.”

[Prices are down] This year, the cause is a 97% decline in exports to China. The decline has created low prices that are expected to create losses of more than $100 an acre.

Have a lot of fun!

Prior Auth Comes to Medicare

Private health insurers use AI to approve or deny care. Soon Medicare will, too.

A pilot program testing the use of artificial intelligence to expand prior authorization decisions in Medicare has providers, politicians and researchers asking questions.

Taking a page from the private insurance industry’s playbook, the Trump administration will launch a program next year to find out how much money an artificial intelligence algorithm could save the federal government by denying care to Medicare patients.

The pilot program, designed to weed out wasteful, “low-value” services, amounts to a federal expansion of an unpopular process called prior authorization, which requires patients or someone on their medical team to seek insurance approval before proceeding with certain procedures, tests, and prescriptions. It will affect Medicare patients, and the doctors and hospitals who care for them, in Arizona, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Texas, and Washington, starting Jan. 1 and running through 2031.

Nearly three-quarters of respondents thought prior authorization was a “major” problem in a July poll published by KFF, a health information nonprofit that includes KFF Health News.

[Both private insurers and Medicare say all decisions will be reviewed by a human.]

“I think that there’s also probably a little bit of ambiguity over what constitutes ‘meaningful human review,’” said Amy Killelea, an assistant research professor at the Center on Health Insurance Reforms at Georgetown University.

A 2023 report published by ProPublica found that, over a two-month period, doctors at Cigna who reviewed requests for payment spent an average of only 1.2 seconds on each case.

Kamala Harris says picking a gay man for VP was too big of a risk

Everything is boring to you. I haven't moved any imaginary goalposts and I haven't complained about anything.
I don't care who Kamala picked for her VP I was just pointing out her hypocrisy.
Stating the obvious is not complaining
You explained it perfectly just a few posts ago.

Politics is not where you get to do every single thing you actually believe unless youre in the safest of safe districts. Its frankly naive to expect otherwise.

Charlie Kirk's Memorial Service: Let's Talk About That.

I didn’t watch but from the clips I’ve seen it looked more like a WWE style political rally similar to last year’s RNC than any wake or funeral or “celebration of life” event you typically see after someone passes. I don’t think funerals need to always be somber events but the political undertones here along with on stage pyrotechnics cross the line into just plain tacky.

Camp Mystic Is Reopening Next Summer, Sparking Outrage From Parents as the Search for Missing Campers Continues

Camp Mystic sent the letters out on Monday, Sept. 22 in two separate emails to “families of the girls who died, and one to a much broader group of past campers and their families,” the New York Times reported.

However, the families of the deceased claim they were left out of the loop and had no heads-up regarding any plans for a memorial.

Blake Bonner, the father of Lila Bonner, 9, said relatives “were not consulted about and did not approve this memorial,” per the Times.

Cici Steward, whose 8-year-old child Cile Steward remains missing, added, “The truth is, Camp Mystic failed our daughters.”

“Recovery teams are still out there, scouring the river, risking and sacrificing so much to find her so we can finally lay her to rest. For their efforts, we are eternally grateful,” Cici added. “Camp Mystic, however, has only added to our grief.”

Camp message in full here.

First and foremost, we will be designing and creating a memorial dedicated to the lives of the campers and counselors lost on July 4th. We hope this space will serve as a place of reflection and remembrance of these beautiful girls. We continue to pray for the grieving families and all those who lost loved ones.
Second, Camp Mystic Cypress Lake will be open for Summer 2026. ...
Because of the devastating damage sustained by Camp Mystic Guadalupe River, we will not be able to re-open in 2026. However, we are finalizing plans that would allow [surviving] Camp Mystic Guadalupe River campers to attend Camp Mystic Cypress Lake next summer.
