It only cost the US $220M to institute severe sanctions? Don't know...maybe Trump sees this as an investment. You just lost 220 million dollar surveillance drone and only guts Trump showed was a feeble "maybe it was a mistake by somebody"
This has just about the same amount of guts he had when dealing with North Korea. Lots of bluster about devastation and fiery gospel and then it ends with "I had a sweet letter from Kim " and nothing happens.
It is interesting the media was in an uproar when the Carrier Strike Group (CSG) entered the Persian Gulf. The media theme was "Trump is going to start a war." When Iran fires the first shot, the US President shows restraint. Now the media theme is "Trump backed down from Iranian aggression, and we lost money." You can't make this stuff up.A) the drone wasn't worth that amount. the program it was part of is.
B) Many people continually judge Trump rashly, not understanding that he is a master negotiator. Sometimes restraint is the best policy, while you continue to put your game pieces in order. And regarding NK, tectonic plate shifts are taking place behind the scenes, particularly regarding resetting China's place in the world. Without understanding that context you cannot interpret Trump's actions re. Kim correctly - or, for that matter, Kim's actions.
This is the last I will say on this topic, because I am beyond tired of the endless wrangling with people who do not, or will not, understand.
...How should we Christians pray about this?
I think these arguments will be purely academic in 20 years or fewer. The birth rates in European nations have been in a nose dive for decades...until recent mass immigration. The immigrants from outside of Europe are having multiple children and they will rule your future.
Why all this identifying as a citizen of nation state ?
Do you somehow feels less secure, or more incomplete if you can not say I am Danish ?
Would you feel bad about thinking your grandson living in asteroid belt

Should totally have kept that and we would have Ikea from Sweden and the oil trust fund from Norway.
Denmark...well, Denmark has the legoland so something for the children.
Thanks for the responses. But I must say that all people deserve democracy.
It's probably time for reaping. You reap what you sow. The Capitalistic machinery of the Europeans is mostly driven by lands and resources they violently stole from others.
Totally untrue! That is SJW indoctrination.
Roads, bridges and commerce in Africa built by the British have all deteriorated since they left the Dark Continent. Capitalism liberates people, which explains why the most capitalist countries not only have the highest living standards around the world, they also have the cleanest air, water and highest life expectancies.
The Leftist multi-national corporate globalists, who took control of education decades ago, taught "crony Capitalism" is to blame when it is really "crony Socialism" that destroys. See Venezuela.
I disagree. Everyone deserves liberty. We're made in the image of God and have the same right to choose, even hell. I won't get into a free will debate, as that's not the purpose of this thread. Pastor McArthur is a good Pastor, but I disagree with him on this issue. No one deserves a democracy! The real American revolution was to replace monarchies around the world with republics. A democracy is a lamb and 2 wolves voting on what to have for dinner. A republic is a well armed lamb, contesting the vote. Our republic is based on individual freedom and minimum government.
A pure Democracy, by which I mean a Society consisting of a small number of citizens, who assemble and administer the Government in person, can admit of no cure for the mischiefs of faction. A common passion or interest will, in almost every case, be felt by a majority of the whole; a communication and concert result from the form of Government itself; and there is nothing to check the inducements to sacrifice the weaker party, or an obnoxious individual. Hence it is, that such Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives, as they have been violent in their deaths.

Islam is the scourge of the human condition for the last 1400 years. Iran in the 1970's was Westernized and modernized. It is not the people but the Supremacist, Expansionist, totalitarian ideology of Islam that is the bane of humanity. Truly the religion of Satan. See video on line by John MacArthur who explores this fully.
Europeans stole land from themselves? It's probably time for reaping. You reap what you sow. The Capitalistic machinery of the Europeans is mostly driven by lands and resources they violently stole from others.
The only way to "repair" this sin is tear down the walls. You don't own the lands. God gave them to everyone for free until Europeans took them for themselves and sold them for profit.
And the U.S. friendship with Saudi Arabia is nothing short of appalling.
The U.S.government is hypocritical and deceitful when it comes to the middle east..
Of course they would dispute internationally recognized sea lanes and airspace. Iran says they own it, international law says they don't.The "international waters" you mentioned is disputed by Iran.
They did shoot down one of our UAS in international airspace. They also continued to fund and train Hamas and Hezbollah. They also continue to manufacture IEDs which end up maiming or killing Americans. Not to mention they stormed our embassy and kept Americans hostage there for 444 days under Jimmy Carter.I have yet to hear of anything Iran has actually done against us.
We really don't know as the nuclear 'deal' omitted many military installations from IAEA inspectors.I do know that it is a fact that Trump withdrew the U.S. form the nuclear deal, which although not perfect, kept Iran from enriching uranium.
Given the audience of the mullahs, it just might be the way to negotiate with them. This is no way to negotiate.
That's a nice gesture but again look who we are dealing with. Obama made a deal with the mullahs who shout "death to America." Iran has not been interested in meeting with us to negotiate for over 40 years...just what they can hustle out of an appeasing West.If Trump were actually interested in negotiation, he should have worked with Iran rather than withdraw completely from the treaty.
Please cite the aggressions. It seems to me it is the U.S. who are the aggressors in this situation.
I agree with you there. How many millions did the Clinton foundation get for 'humanitarian' purposes from the Saudi royal family? And the U.S. friendship with Saudi Arabia is nothing short of appalling.
The Middle East is diverse and most difficult to navigate. That has been the case for every US Administration. Engaging in diplomacy is a good thing. The door is wide open for Iran to join in diplomacy. The U.S.government is hypocritical and deceitful when it comes to the middle east..

The evidence says elsewise.Call me a skeptic, but I suspect POTUS aborted the military response to Iran because he knows where that drone really was.
The evidence says elsewise.
The actual air track of the drone.Whose evidence?
The actual air track of the drone.
We do know Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal... How you can claim otherwise is rather stunning...that old deniability stunt; all those other things you cited are disputable, but you obviously believe the Trump stance, and you had to go all the way back to Carter to cite an actual aggression (and wasn't Reagan involved in keeping the hostages there in order to get elected?); you blame the Clinton's foundation for receiving donations but I guess the U.S arms deal with Saudi Arabia, which is a real threat, unlike the Clinton foundation, is okay with you; almost everything Trump has done is aggressive.... Withdrawing from the nuclear deal said it all; and them being allowed to the table for "diplomacy" is a joke since Trump is the one who has taken the stance of a bully here.Of course they would dispute internationally recognized sea lanes and airspace. Iran says they own it, international law says they don't.

I think the facts show the current administration is continuing the relations with Saudi Arabia previous administrations shared. The Saudi Arabian monarchy are no saints that's to be sure. Only when someone mentions "Israel!" then the left flocks to defend them.
