I'm certainly not a fan of Atwater or his tactics. I don't share any guilt with him.

If racism is covert, how can I know it is there? God doesn't want me to condemn others for what they might be. All I can do is warn people that God sees our hearts and covert actions. God is the judge and he will bring true justice.

Also, in my opinion, dealing covert racism is not one of the Black communities bigger problems. The bigger problems are internal. These concern me. Every night, I pray for the Black community of Washington DC that the black fathers will return to their families, the black mothers will invest in their children and for the black churches as well.

Wealth. That includes property. Those numbers are in line with these:

Most whites dont own a $140,000 home. I know mostly poor folks and there are far more poor whites than there are rich ones.

You say you don’t share guilt with him, but have you ever supported the policies and theories that he and his people used to criminalize and imprison blacks? The war on crime, the war on drugs, and the hyper criminalization of crack cocaine? Covert racism shows itself in actions. People who choose not to promote people of color, not to closely associate with people of color, aren’t interested in dating people of color, or speak of “black on black” crime but never “white on white crime,” are racists. I’d suggest you do some studying. I just watched a great documentary , the 13th, about the history of the criminalization and incarceration of black Americans. You could also google “systemic racism” and see where that leads. I can’t give you an education on racism in the U.S, that’s hours of study.

Oh dear. Total wealth. That includes your home, your car, your retirement fund, and your money. I’m not sure how your personal experience or limited knowledge disqualifies actual data.

Sorry, maybe you're right. I see people struggling to keep those things. Thats not wealth but debt.

This data isnt based on race.

A household in the U.S. has an average net worth of $692,100, according to the most recent data from the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances.

Shocked by that figure? That’s because the average (aka the “mean”) is skewed by the nation's super wealthy. The median net worth of the average U.S. household is $97,300. Median is the middle point where half the households have more and half have less.

That means the median figure may be a better indicator of where you stand relative to your friends and neighbors. But the overall figures are just one indicator. There are many other ways to slice net worth figures published in the 2016 survey. Let’s start with age:

Median and average net worth by age

    • Under 35: Median net worth: $11,100 (average net worth: $76,200).

    • 35-44: $59,800 ($288,700).

    • 45-54: $124,200 ($727,500).

    • 55-64: $187,300 ($1,167,400).

    • 65-74: $224,100 ($1,066,000).

    • 75+: $264,800 ($1,067,000).

I don't live in a particularly wealthy area, and the net worth of most people I know is higher than that. Remember that net worth includes the value of one's house.

It seems like you are trying to find "thought crimes". This is a dangerous direction for liberalism. Just a short time ago liberalism was linked to personal liberty. Now, it's about punishing others, even for "microaggressions" and supporting certain theories. This will not end well for any of us.

Looking at what Sparagmos wrote, I see just the opposite. The post criticizes use of government power to limit freedom. Systemic racism is not freedom, although white nationalists continue to argue that it is.

I notice no assertion of a need to punish others for racism, merely a criticism of using racism to punish others.

In the deep south, during the civil rights era, many segregationists wailed that if blacks got equal rights, than meant whites would no longer be free. I don't think you mean to make that argument, but that's what you're saying here.

Most people dont own their home yet, so its debt not wealth. And most people i know either rent or own a much cheaper home.

No, I didn’t say it was based on race. The second set of data I gave you was more info re median income, which you were disputing. Since white people hold more wealth overall, the median wealth for all Americans is lower than the median income for whites. And just because someone owes $250,000 on their house doesn’t mean the $100,000 in equity they have doesn’t count. Same with your car.

Not remotely. I have no idea why you would come to that conclusion. Policies designed to negatively affect the black population are hardly thought crimes. People’s attitudes will always affect their actions. I haven’t said anything about criminalizing people’s attitudes. BTW - I’ve never heard anyone say people should be punished for micro aggressions. Another straw man there. It’s just about learning to be more compassionate towards other people. Far from it, and I’ve been in a number of trainings and talks about them. Again, I suggest that you find out for yourself what ppl are saying and teaching on these matters by taking a class or reading a book.

We always tend to keep the spirit of racism alive. We forget it is not about flesh and blood but principalities in high places. We need to pray and go after it in the spirit. It is a spiritual battle. I grew up on the other side of the fence where groups of blacks and mexicans would chase me home from school and beat me. I was bullied severely by them. I could never understand why I was their target. However I did not live there and I nailed all that pain to the cross and allowed the Lord to heal me. The issue is to many people park in a secular parking lot keeping racism alive. It is time we realize we all have issues blacks, whites, native American, and Mexicans ect. We need to be the solution not the problem and we are to walk like Christ does. It is time to be the solution.

It’s a fact about you, but this thread isn’t about you, it’s about racism. But I understand the desire to ground things in your own experience. In the most wealthy neighborhood in your area, what are the demographics, compared to the poorest neighborhood in your area? Are there more minorities in the poorest neighborhood or the same percentage?
