Knock off putting words in my mouth. I said no such thing.
"wake[ing] up after the election is over and face[ing] reality" 7 years ago was dealing with a newly elected president that I most definitely did not want and who I felt then was an unqualified menace. (Boy did I underestimate his menace.)
As for the other thing...
If we as a nation elect an authoritarian narcissist like Trump, a man who not only abused his office, but has made it *clear* that he plans to use every power we would possess and claim powers he does not to enforce his will, punish his enemies, and empower other authoritarians to have government power, then our democratic government will have failed and, perhaps, if we are too blind to see it coming then we are undeserving of the democracy we threw away.
Are you seriously going to whine about authoritarianism considering what went on in the last 2-3 years?
We just had a Federal Appellate Court rule that the Whitehouse repeatedly violated the First Amendment by forcing social media and IT firms to censor content critical of the administration, to deplatform and ban individuals and organizations that made Biden's party angry, including satirical content.
We haven't seen anything like that since President Wilson threw people into jail for objecting to the war
Biden wants to amend Title IX to force colleges, including Christian ones, to let men into women's bathrooms, changing rooms, etc.
And Biden implemented Federal vaccine mandates that led to the firings of thousands of workers before state courts started pushing back
The president supported unnecessary and damaging school closures, and even when the public because outraged at the length of the closures, he did nothing to force the Teacher's Unions to get back to work.
So aside from government censorship efforts, social engineering, unnecessary school closures and vaccine mandates, Biden is just a swell guy.
(I am not defending Trump here, just pointing out how galatically hypocritical people become when speaking about the last administration vs. what is going on now)
