How many Americans are working for the Cartels? Are they related to the Cartels?

I don't know. Occassionally I see American's arrested for working with the Cartel. My point is, you are assuming the homicides in Mexcio are due to the cartel. Unless you have some data, it's speculation.

Anyway, your original anlaogy, comparing the Mexico cartel with Russia doesn't make any sense.

Putting fentanyl in other drugs and counterfeit pills shows they have no regard for the people that buy them. Blaming addicts may not play well politically either

I agree. My point is the blame lies with both parties.

Yes it’s true if there wasn’t a demand there would be no one to sell the drugs to. But I put more blame on people that sell drugs than on people who use drugs.

I don't have the data. What I do have is being told numerous times that I'm taking my life into my own hands, and that there is no safe place for Americans to cross into Mexico, because of the Cartels, by Border Patrol, as I've crossed the Mexican border. I was told of the discovery of mass graves of Americans on the other side of a closed border crossing, when I asked at another border crossing why the other cross point was closed.

What I was told by my Mexican girlfriend, who I would travel to Mexico with to see her father, was that I need to be careful of being kidnapped, as the Cartels target Americans.

What I was told by an American friend of mine, who spent her youth traveling Mexico by foot, was for me to memorize her phone number, because I would probably lose my phone if I was kidnapped. She said if I was; that she would pay the ransom to free me.

Maybe I should ignore all of these people who are far more knowledgeable than I; because I haven't gathered the data to vet their unsupported claims regarding concerns for my well being?

Where did I present that analogy?

If Russia goes through with these threats, it will be the first time they followed through on a threat since the war started. Putin is smart enough to know that there are Americans (and others in the world) who will still take his threats seriously, if he makes them, despite his lack of actually following through with his threats. At the same time, Putin is smart enough to know that if he does follow through, it won't be good for either him or Russia -- the two things he is trying to protect and make great again.
Why would this Administration feel threatened if Russia sends troops to Cuba?

I drove over the border this year and spent several days in Mexico. I've also flown into Mexico. Everything was fine. I think your sources are misinformed.

What year vehicle were you driving; and where did you cross? I was driving a new car when I crossed at Laredo. I stopped at the Information desk, before I crossed to get a heads up on anything that I might need to know about. She strongly advised me not to take my car across the bridge. She said that the cartels have scouts waiting at the bridge, looking for valuable vehicles. They get on the phone and give a tag and description of the vehicle to those who will follow the vehicle, until the time is right for a carjacking. I crossed on foot. It didn't go well in Nuevo Laredo. I made that crossing alone. To make a long story short; I felt relived that I made it back out safely. I told my doctor about the trip. His father (Mexican American) lives in Laredo. He told me that I had made a big mistake crossing over there; that it just isn't safe there.

Did you fly to a resort destination?

Flying in is a different story, depending on where you're flying to. My girlfriend wanted me to meet her mother in Chihuahua at a family reunion. It was a costume party. She wanted to drive my car there. I told her that I felt uncomfortable about taking my car that deep into Mexico. She said that it was relatively safe in Chihuahua compared to Juarez. I stood my ground. She didn't have a car; so she suggested taking a bus. The trip was on. We went costume shopping.

I was excited about the trip, until she started giving me details about a past trip that she had made on a bus. She told me that the bus was traveling though an area where bodies lined the streets. The bus driver told everyone on the bus to get down on the floor, in hopes that any murderers would think that the bus was empty. She managed to make a safe trip. I can't work with that! She went to Chihuahua without me.

I crossed into Reynosa; and on the way back, Customs asked me the usual questions. He mentioned that it was a very dangerous place to cross. I told him that I was exploring the Mexico border; and asked him where a safer crossing would be. He said quite vehemently (as if he was my father) "there is no safe place to cross the Mexican border."

Who knows? Maybe he just watches too much FOX news. What could he possibly know about it; if he works there everyday; yet he's too afraid to set his foot on the other side. Maybe that's why these Federal Agents carry guns. Maybe they're just afraid of everything.

I had a long talk (maybe an hour) with a family, who spoke fluent Spanish in Progreso. They spent a lot of time visiting Mexico. At that time I hadn't seen much of Mexico; and I wasn't impressed with the prices, and the selection of products in Progreso Nuevo. I asked them where would be a relatively safe city, deeper within Mexico, that I could easily travel to from Progreso Nuevo, where I could find more authentic Mexican products. They strongly advised me against it. They said that even being fluent in Spanish, and with their experience with the Mexican culture; that they would be reluctant to move through cartel country; and with my limited ability to speak Spanish; that they would strongly advise against it.

...But who knows? Maybe you just know better.

Flown, before. Drove, after.
As you can see, I was not in grave danger.

Regarding Portland, Powell's Books is overrated, but Silver Falls Park is totally worth the drive.

Mass graves of Americans? You'd think something like that would have been in the news.

President Joseph R. Biden is too old to “effectively serve” another four-year term, according to a new poll.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll found more than three-quarters of adults surveyed, or 77%, believe Mr. Biden, 80, is too old to run for reelection.

Probably true, so I guess his pick of Vice President will have to be a little better than Kamala Harris this time around as he seems to have the Democrat nomination in the bag. If he dies on the job the country will need to know that his successor is competent.

One might think.

At least two of the almost 200 bodies buried in a series of mass graves in Tamaulipas, northern Mexico, belong to U.S. citizens, adding to the small but growing number of Americans killed in Mexico.

The graves were discovered in the municipality of San Fernando in the border state in April. Many of the bodies are thought to be people abducted from buses traveling through the region.

As the Brownsville Herald reports, authorities refused to divulge the name of the Americans or the circumstances in which they were abducted. However, the consul-general’s office in Matamoros had received reports of Americans being pulled off inter-city buses in the area.

This is a reference to a mass grave with Americans, while this is what you claimed.

Mass graves of Americans.

Mass graves of Americans.

It took me less that two minutes to find that article. BTW, if you read the article carefully; you'll see authorities are not sure how many Americans were in that grave.

I've lived in Texas for 35 years. I'm more than familiar with reports of cartel related mass graves. Your assertion was that there was mass graves (plural) OF Americans. Your article was for a mass grave WITH TWO Americans. That's not mass graves OF Americans.
BTW, if you read the article carefully; you'll see authorities are not sure how many Americans were in that grave.
That's nice.

“It would be irresponsible for us to not be concerned at this point,” a Democratic National Committee official told the WSJ. “People can be hopeful about what the result is going to be. But we don’t have any evidence as to why we should be hopeful. The polling is bad. The approval ratings are bad. We know about concerns about both the president’s age and about the vice president if she were to take over.”

Dem Party Officials Are Increasingly Terrified That Biden Will Cost Them The Election

Many of the concerns with Biden relate to his age as a majority of Americans, 77%, believe the president cannot govern effectively because of his age, according to an Associated Press/NORC poll. Sixty-seven percent of Democrat-leaning voters want a different candidate other than Biden on the ballot for the 2024 election, a CNN poll showed.
