I'm having a hard time finding the right Bible.

I just stick with the NIV and KJV. Both are excellent bible translations. There are too many other translations to really keep track of them all.

Get an ESV or something, and learn details from Micheal Heiser, who is a proper Christian scholar, specialized in ancient languages.

I've just stuck with the Bible my church gave me when I joined as a kid - the Revised Standard Version. I doubt that it's perfect, but then I doubt that there is a perfect Bible.

RSV is fine. NRSV updates the scholarship a bit and makes it gender-neutral. Both are similar in terms of their approach to textual criticism and scholarship.
