But I will not take flu vaccines because I do not know what ingredients are inside there, and I do not know how I will react.
In the overwhelming majority of flu shots:
- Inactivated influenza viruses
- Egg protein
- Thimerosal (although, upon specific requests, you can get ones without it)
- Sorbitol
- Monosodium Glutamate
- Trace levels of Neomycin
- Polysorbate 80
As a point of reference, apart from the inactivated flu viruses themselves and Neomycin (which is a very mild antibiotic with a nearly impeccable safety profile in trace amounts), each of the other ingredients are consumed (and absorbed), in much much higher quantities, if you eat any of the following
Eggs (egg protein)
Fish (specifically Salmon or Tuna) (Thimerosal)
Any sort of store bought sweets (Sorbitol)
Chinese food or any form of store-bought or restaurant-prepared food involving rice (Monosodium Glutamate)
Salad dressing or any form of BBQ sauce (Polysorbate 80)
Or, to put it in perspective.
If, for breakfast, you eat 2 eggs
For lunch, you have a meal involving a salad (w/ dressing)
For dinner, you have fish (and have a cookie for dessert)
...and at any other point in your life, you've consumed bbq sauce, Chinese food, or rice prepared in a restaurant
You've taken in more of the "concerning" substances than what you would getting 20 flu vaccines just by having any of those aforementioned foods once.
Whenever people express concerns about mercury (Thimerosal) in vaccines, I typically tell them "well, I hope you've never eaten fish"... and when people talk about Polysorbate 80, I tell them "I hope you haven't ever had salad dressing or BBQ sauce"
