Oh look, it's a child trying to join an adult discussion. How cute.

What events are you talking about exactly? What I said related to this verse specifically that she quoted:

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

It seems like she was saying this applies specifically only to the generation living before the return of Christ. So, I'm asking if she doesn't apply it also to the time it was written and the time ever since then? What are your thoughts, kid?
It applied to the time Jesus spoke the words, and is a present reality today

Those saved have the very Holy Spirit within, power over Satan as you have posted, then and continously until now, I Agree

What are you basing this on? And where can this be found in the context of what Paul said in 1 Thess 5?
Oh - sorry - I totally agree with your reading of 1 Thess 5.
I was writing more generally about the "Peace, peace" verses - 'As in the days of Noah', etc - where people are partying and then suddenly destruction comes on them.

That sort of vibe is in stark contrast to the futurist's endless debates about various calamitous, world-changing events that are in Revelation and kind of 'give the game away' so to speak. Peace peace? When 1/3 of the human race has died from xyz disasters? There's just no understanding of Jewish number symbolism or - basically - the need to do any hermeneutics or research of any kind in some futurist camps. Endless navel gazing and subjective impressions and maybe even scanning the internet for the latest military tech etc.

I disagree that He talked about things like wars, earthquakes and famines in relation to what happened in 70 AD. I believe He was saying those things would happen for a long time, but would not be an indication that the end was at hand. Instead, they would be the beginning of birth pains (as the NIV puts it), which implies that those things may indicate the end of the age was getting closer, but would not be what would indicate that the end of the age was near. Instead, the things that would occur that would indicate that His coming and the end of the age were near are the things He talked about here:

Matthew 24:9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Like Paul in 2 Thess 2:1-12, Jesus talked about a time when many turning away from the faith and an increase in deception and wickedness due to things like many false prophets appearing would be signs that His second coming was near.
I'm not that stressed on trying to pin down Matthew 24 exactly. It's one of the trickier chapters in the bible - and I'm in the Sydney Anglican view that it talks about the temple when mentioning 'these things' and then about the end when it shifts to "That day".

And there are many, many Partial Preterist Reformed Amil Evangelicals that I respect that see a 'pointy end' to come just before the Return. I can respect that case - but there's probably just a few verses where we disagree over the nature of the genre of the literature. EG: The man of lawlessness could be a figurative image of the spirit of lawlessness - like an embodiment. I don't see it as prophetic.

Why do you say that, though? Scripture itself does not say that. Think about how things have been in the past. When World War 1 was going on do you think people were not eating, drinking, marrying, partying and such in most places in the world during that time besides the places directly impacted by the war? Sure, they were. Same thing with World War 2. And, certainly the same thing with lesser wars. So, I don't see any basis for thinking there has to be world peace and prosperity when He returns. There could be, but not necessarily.

Great point! I may have overstated what I meant. I'm with you here.

Yes, futurists are wrong in thinking that has to be the case before Jesus returns (largely due to them taking almost everything literally in the book of Revelation) and preterists are wrong about a lot of things as well. Which is why I am neither. There is no balance in either of those belief systems.
Well - full Preterism is a heresy because it claims Jesus already returned / or the promises of Jesus return were only symbolic of something. If it departs even from the Nicene creed - "Houston - we have a problem!"
But I'm partial Preterist which means while we long for the Lord's return still, many of the other things futurists want to speculate about endlessly we see as falling into the realm of history, not prophecy, of already being fulfilled, not something to fear in the future.

Well, I don't completely agree with this. Both Jesus and Paul indicated that a time of a higher level of deception when many would turn and fall away from the faith and when wickedness would increase would occur before Christ returns. So, it isn't as if there isn't anything that had to occur first before Jesus returned. But, with what we're seeing going on in more recent years in terms of the amount of sexual immorality and such increasing, what Jesus and Paul talked about could certainly already be happening.
But the Roman empire was where we are now? Worse in some ways? Then it was Christianised.
There have been a range of behaviours in a range of places. And just as you rightly pointed out some could still be partying even during WW1 or WW2 - why is it American morals that are in view here? I agree the decline of respect for Christianity in the west is sad. It's interesting to see a secular version of Christianity gaining respect in the likes of Jordan Peterson who is worried about what all this culture shifting might mean for the future of civilisation itself. At least he's bringing the bible back into the public discourse, and if people start reading it instead of just Jordan, maybe there can be some change.

But I'm not sure today's decline in morality in the west is significant of anything in eschatology. As I always say - it could be 5 seconds or 50,000 years. We just don't know.

Anyway, it was good to chat!

Not really.

The New Testament speaks of only 2 ages: Now, and Eternity.

NOW has temptation, Satan, marriage, children, sickness, tears, ageing, death, and Jesus reigning over his kingdom as the church.

ETERNITY has no temptation, no Satan, no marriage, no more children, no more sickness, no more tears, no more ageing, no more death, but Jesus reigning visibly over a new heavens and new earth.

There is no way to reconcile some sort of 'in between' age. Attempts to do so fail on so many fronts.

No such thing as a 1,000 year millennium on this earth found in scripture as your chart shows, a millennium on this earth is a man made fabrication

Jesus returns in fire and final judgement (The End)

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8KJV
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God
, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Luke 17:29-30KJV
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

You haven`t proven there is no millennium. Those scriptures just show that God will deal with the rebellious when Jesus comes in power and great glory. There will still be people on the earth then. Remember `one taken and one left.` (Matt. 24: 39 - 42)

I don`t see any scripture there. Want to back up your statements?

The wicked, to a man, are immediately destroyed, as in Noah and Lot’s day (Joel 2:1-3, Joel 2:10-11, Isaiah 13:6-12, Malachi 4:1-3, Matthew 3:12, Luke 17:27-30, I Thessalonians 5:2-4, II Thessalonians 1:7-10, 2 Peter 2:5-9, Revelation 19:17-21).

There is a general resurrection/judgment (singular) of all mankind at the coming of Christ (Matthew 10:15, 12:36, 16:27, 25:31-46, John 5:21-30, 6:39-44, 54, 10:42, 11:21-27, 12:48, 17:30-32, 24:15, Acts 10:42, 17:30-31, Romans 2:4-8, 14:10-12, 1 Corinthians 3:6-8, 11-15, 1 Corinthians 4:5, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 2 Timothy 4:1-8, 2 Thessalonians 1:5-8, 1 Timothy 5:24, Hebrews 9:27, 10:27, 2 Peter 2:9, 3:7, 1 Peter 4:1-5, 1 John 4:17, and Revelation 19:11, 20:11-15, 22:12).

Satan cast into the Lake of Fire (Isaiah 26:19, II Thessalonians 2:1-9 Revelation 20:10). This occurs before the heaven and earth pass away in Revelation 20.

There is a climactic conflagration (Job 14:12-14, Isaiah 13:9-11, Isaiah 34:1-4, 8, Isaiah 65:17-21, Isaiah 66:22-24, Joel 2:3, Joel 2:10-11, Malachi 4:1-3, Matthew 24:29-30, Matthew 24:35-44, Mark 13:24-26, Luke 21:25-27, Romans 8:18-23, 1 Corinthians 15:23-24, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, 2 Peter 3:10-13, Hebrews 1:10-12, Revelation 6:13-17, Revelation 16:15-20, Revelation 19:11-16 and Revelation 20:11-15).

Perfection arrives with the age to come (Luke 20:27-36, Romans 8:19-23, 1 Corinthians 15:50-55, 2 Peter 3:3-13 Philippians 3:20-21, 1 Peter 4:3-7, Hebrews 1:10-12 and Revelation 20:11-15, 21:1-5).

The age to come possesses no mortals. The wicked are destroyed at His appearing (2 Samuel 22:9, Job 41:20-21, Psalm 18:7-8, 37:9-11, 50:1-6, 68:1-3, 97:3-5, Isaiah 11:4-5, 13:9, 30:33, 66:15-17, Joel 2:1-3, 2:10-11, Nahum 1:1, 5-6, Malachi 4:1, Luke 17:26-30, 20:34-36, Romans 8:19-23, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 13:8-13, 15:50-55, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-5:3, II Thessalonians 1:4-10, Revelation 16:15-21, 19:11-18, Revelation 21-22).

1 Corinthians 13:12, Ephesians 4:13 and Revelation 10:5-7 show that the curtain coming down on the mystery of God, thus confirming we are at the end of time and entering into eternity when all will finally be revealed.

This is a water-tight argument to me that the second coming is “the end.”

Riddlebarger explains it well. Basically, there is NOW and then there is THEN - there is no 'in-between'. Over to Kim Riddlebarger:- —-

If we begin with clear passages of Scripture, we can construct a very simple, basic model to help us with the “weirder,” tougher passages. One such approach is known as the “two-age” model. Both Jesus and Paul, for example, speak of “this age” and the “age to come” as distinct eschatological periods of time (Mt 12:32; Lk 18:30; 20:34-35; Eph 1:21). For both our Lord and the apostle, there are two contrasting ages in view. The first age (spoken of as “this age” in the New Testament) is the present period of time before the Second Coming of Christ. The second age, a distinctly future period of time, is referred to as “the age to come.” When these two ages (“this age” and “the age to come”) are placed in contrast with each other, we are able us to look at the qualities ascribed by the Biblical writers to each in such a way that we can answer questions about the timing of the return of Christ and the nature and timing of the millennium.

When we look at the qualities ascribed to “this age” by the biblical writers, we find that the following are mentioned: “homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields — and with them persecutions” (Mk 10:30); “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage” (Lk 20:34); the scholar, philosopher and such wisdom are of this age (1 Cor 1:20); secular and religious rulers dominate (1 Cor 2:6-8); “the god of this age [Satan] has blinded the minds of unbelievers” (2 Cor 4:4); this age is explicitly called “the present evil age” (Gal 1:4); ungodliness and worldly passions are typical of it (Titus 2:12). All of these qualities are temporal, and are certainly destined to pass away with the return of our Lord. “This age” is the age in which we live, and is the age in which we struggle as we long for the coming of Christ and the better things of the age to come.

By marked contrast however, “the age to come” has an entirely different set of qualities ascribed to it: There will be no forgiveness for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (Mt 12:32); it is preceded by signs (Mt 24:3); it is characterized by eternal life (Mk 10:30; Lk 18:30); is also denoted as a time when there is no marriage or giving in marriage (Lk 20:35); and it is which is characterized by “life that is truly life” (I Tim 6:19). These qualities are all eternal, and are indicative of the state of affairs and quality of life after the return of Christ. In other words, these two ages, the present (“this age”) and the future (the “age to come”) stand in diametrical opposition to one another. One age is temporal; the other is eternal. One age is characterized by unbelief and ends in judgement; the other is the age of the faithful and is home to the redeemed. It is this conception of biblical history that dominates the New Testament.

It is also imperative to see that the same contrasts which Jesus and Paul make between these two ages are in turn related to the one event that forever divides them, the return of Christ. This line of demarcation is expressly stated in Scripture. “The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. . . This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous” (Mt. 13:39-49). These statements are the type of clear and unambiguous texts mentioned earlier. Notice that according to this text judgement occurs immediately at Christ’s return, not after a one-thousand year millennium (as in the premillennial scheme). This is not the only line of Biblical evidence, however, for in addition to this we can find other such statements about the coming of Christ that fit very clearly into the two-age model.

According to Scripture, the resurrection of both the just and the unjust occurs simultaneously. Jesus expressly states that he will raise believers up on the “last day” (Jn 6:39, 40, 44, 54; 11:24). Thus we told quite clearly that the resurrection of the just occurs on the last day, at the end of this age. In addition, Jesus also proclaims that “There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day” (John 12:48). Notice that the very same event is also said to be the time of judgment for those who reject Christ. Add to these important passages those additional verses that, relate the trumpet of God to the “last day” and to the return of Christ. The return of Christ will occur “in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Co. 15:52; cf. 1 Thess 4:16). Notice that there are no gaps of time indicated between the resurrection and the judgement. These texts collectively speak of the resurrection, the judgment, and the return of Christ as distinct aspects of but one event, occurring at precisely the same time (cf. Mt 25:31-46). Premillennialists, who often chide amillennialists for not taking the Bible “literally” and who champion what they call the “literal” interpretation of Scripture, must now insert a thousand-year gap between the Second Coming of Christ (and the resurrection) and the Final Judgment to make room for the supposed future millennial reign of Christ! And this, ironically, when the clear declarations of Scripture do not allow for such gaps.

Thus, we can conclude that “this age” — the period of time Peter calls the “last days” (Acts 2:17), and which Jesus characterizes as a period of birth pains of wars, earthquakes, famine, and distress (Mt 24, Mk 13) — ends with the return of Christ, the resurrection and the judgement on the “last day.” An event that, by the way, Peter describes like the “day of the Lord [which] will come as a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare” (2 Pet 3:10). It is only after this that the age to come will be a present and visible reality. Notice that the focus is not upon a half-way kingdom and somewhat improved temporal age on the earth (i.e., a future millennium).

Instead, the biblical focus is upon the consummation and the summing up of all things with the creation of the new heavens and the new earth! The return of Jesus Christ is the key event in biblical prophecy. For when our Lord Jesus Christ returns, the end of the age, the resurrection, the judgment, and the creation of the new heavens and the new earth are at hand!

Thus the two-age model is very simple in its structure and is based on texts that can only be described as clear and straightforward. This enables us to make the following conclusions about the nature of the New Testament’s teaching regarding the return of Christ and the timing of the so-called “millennial age.” <<

Remember Jesus said it was like the days of Noah - `one was taken, (away in the flood) and the other left, (went in the ark). ` (Matt. 24: 37 - 41)

`But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day that Noah entered the ark,

And did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one taken and the other left.`

1. Only the wicked were taken away in the flood. The righteous went into the ark.

2, When the Lord comes He only deals with those on earth - the nations before Him - one taken and one left.

3. Satan is bound by God`s word for a thousand years.

4. There is a great earthquake etc when the Lord comes but that is not the rolling up of the heavens and earth at the end of the millennium.

5. The age to come in when God makes a new heaven and earth after the millennium.

6. There are the nations on the new earth. (Rev. 21: 24)

7. The Body of Christ will be caught away before God deals with Israel and the nations. 3 distinct purposes of God.

A Present or Future Millennium? by Kim Riddlebarger
This age continues till 7,000 years, the number of completion. The 7th day (as a thousand years) is as God`s rest, rest from wars, & Satan`s interference. Israel will rule over the nations under the Lord and people will have opportunity to go up to Jerusalem and learn of God`s ways. (Micah 4: 1 - 3)

The `in which` of 2 Peter 3: 10 refers to the Day of the LORD, period of time and at the end will be the rolling up of the heavens and earth.

1. Only the wicked were taken away in the flood. The righteous went into the ark.
But the wicked were not left behind to go through a weird 7 years or whatever.
They were destroyed straight away.

When Jesus returns, it's Judgement Day. He rescues those he loves, and his enemies are destroyed immediately - then the NHNE. All at once!
I just laid this all out in another thread with colours as per the overlapping themes - but the colours don't copy and paste into here!?

They were all destroyed. That is what is going to happen when Jesus comes.

Whoah. Slow down. Can you take one thing at a time. This is what Pretribbers do. When one segment of Pretrib is exposed/refuted they move on to another. But the first forbids your future millennium. We are there now!

I quote these verses so flippantly when discussing eschatology - but the reality for family and friends I love so dearly...:cry::cry::cry:

You are just ignoring the verse data you asked for, and then asserting whatever you can find from elsewhere. And this 7000 years is nonsense - God made the world through evolution over billions of years. Genesis is a creative 'myth' (genre storytelling - like a parable) that is TRUE - but not meant to be read literally. It tells us why and for whom God made the world, not HOW.

I agree the wicked were not left, they were taken away as per the flood as God`s word says.

Just checking out your link.
