Australian Senator Hit With Egg After Blaming Immigration for Mosque Attacks

An anti-immigration lawmaker in Australia who has been criticized for blaming Muslim immigration for Friday's New Zealand shootings struck a teenager who smashed an egg on his head in Melbourne on Saturday.

In video footage on the Facebook page of the senator, Fraser Anning, the teenager can be seen approaching him as Mr. Anning speaks to reporters in a southeastern suburb of Melbourne. The teenager raises a mobile phone in one hand and smashes the egg on the back of Mr. Anning's head with the other.

Nobody should have an egg thrown at them. That said, nobody is less deserving of sympathy for having an egg thrown at him. His comments were egotistical, designed to provoke folks & get attention for himself. Pathetic.

How does egging people help the situation? I can't imagine it calms anyone down, or makes anyone see the intellectual, moral, and ethical superiority of the person doing the egging. This kind of response is why political discourse is now so toxic and polarised.

My sister smashed an egg on my head once, but she didn't have a reason for it, just did it for fun. I have to say it came across really disrespectful. I don't feel alone anymore thanks to the OP. But I'm not blaming Muslims for the attack of course.

Violence only leads to more violence. As an activist myself, I don't support or advocate violence when protesting against a particular social justice or political issue in public. I don't advocate hurting other people in the form of protesting against that person's political opinion either.

it isn't but in all honesty if this guy got some strange form of cancer that shot fire out his rear i would also be equally unsympathetic. at least then he could be used to roast marshmallows instead of whatever he does now. being a politician he is also probably a criminal and last time i checked 1 in 10 criminals in new zealand were child molesters.
