Supporters of Sanders call themselves "socialists" and "social-Democrats" . I have fought the left for 60 years. These folks are hardly Marxists. Few are even close to being socialists.

Calling followers of Sanders Marxists, similar to the USSR, is a political strategy that works. Sanders and his policies are no more similar to the USSR than is the local food cooperative.

The kind of democratic socialism espoused by Bernie Sanders is not anywhere close to communism. Would you call Norway and Sweden communist countries?
It really helps to use precise terms:

Marxist Communism is one thing;

Democratic Socialism is another;

Social Democracy is another.

No one, not even in China and Cuba, advocates for "Marxist Communism" any longer.

Supporters of Sanders really advocate of "social democracy." They hurt their cause and the Democratic party if they call themselves "democratic socialists," which they are not.

But the most important thing is that bringing it up has distracted from GOP congresspeople who have endorsed the murder of their democratic co-workers. So in that sense, bringing it up has served its purpose.

Where is the evidence for your statement "....GOP congresspeople who have endorsed the murder of their democratic co-workers."

I forgot about Greene
I think there are three possible connections.
  • Greene is the clearest. I'm not aware of anyone else in Congress quite so closely tied.
  • There were certainly Republicans in Congress propagating the lies about the election on which the attack was based. I don't think that qualifies as directly supporting violence. Probably the people involved were trying for political gain and didn't know how far it would go. So I'd call it reckless endangerment.
  • There are suggestions that at least one Congressman helped the attackers "case the joint" in advance. As far as I know, that hasn't been proven. I'm not accepting it as true for the moment. But it is "under scrutiny."

  • Informative

And if the Dems find nothing to critize in the riots of last year maybe we should be asking why they encourage, murder, assault, arson, property damage, looting etc. by the way the attack on a federal building in Portland is acceptable but an attack on the Capitol is not, that double standard needs to be considered as well. Either you accept and condone attacks on federal building or you dont, the left just needs to decide what their values are and then be consistent.
I dont think D's condone destructive or violent rioting. Maybe just a few on the fringe. You certainly wouldnt find remotely a majority in congress holding that the way a majority R's in congress promote the "stolen election" lie.

And "stolen election!" really is a call for actual war, considering what we as a country have gone to war over previously.

Everything left of McConnel is communism. Didn't you know? When McConnel extends his left pinkie that pinkie is in communist territory.

And I have the sneaking suspicion that you’ll continue to do so...
I am not the only one who would like to forget about her, she is a serious problem. BUT then every party has to have one.

Oh come now, Hillary has been claiming "stolen election" for years. Regarding the Dems they have avoided calling out and denouncing the riots and we all know why.
