CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nobody should have an egg thrown at them. That said, nobody is less deserving of sympathy for having an egg thrown at him. His comments were egotistical, designed to provoke folks & get attention for himself. Pathetic.

How does egging people help the situation? I can't imagine it calms anyone down, or makes anyone see the intellectual, moral, and ethical superiority of the person doing the egging. This kind of response is why political discourse is now so toxic and polarised.

My sister smashed an egg on my head once, but she didn't have a reason for it, just did it for fun. I have to say it came across really disrespectful. I don't feel alone anymore thanks to the OP. But I'm not blaming Muslims for the attack of course.

Violence only leads to more violence. As an activist myself, I don't support or advocate violence when protesting against a particular social justice or political issue in public. I don't advocate hurting other people in the form of protesting against that person's political opinion either.

it isn't but in all honesty if this guy got some strange form of cancer that shot fire out his rear i would also be equally unsympathetic. at least then he could be used to roast marshmallows instead of whatever he does now. being a politician he is also probably a criminal and last time i checked 1 in 10 criminals in new zealand were child molesters.
