  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

:D Well I proclaimed myself a saint and it is permissible! :p

That's fine.  If you want to proclaim yourself a saint you can.  It still remains that no one in scripture ever called himself a saint.  Paul always called the believers saints and refers to himself as a sinner - but not just any sinner  - CHIEF sinner.

Its back to humility and edification vs pride and presumption.

Max, I am certainly not upset with you.  I enjoy the playful banter.  I hope I didn't hurt your feelings.  Sometimes I forget that others take things alot more seriously than I do. :)

I agree with you Quaffer. In Ephesians 1 v 1 Paul is writing to the "SAINTS" at Ephesus. We still sin but we arent sinners we are SAINTS. There are numerous times in the Bible where Gods children are refered to as Saints. A saint is someone who is consecrated and set apart and once we surrender our lives to God then we are holy and set apart so I say that we arent sinners but saints.

I will point out again - that the AUTHOR of most of the epistles called himself the CHIEF of sinners all the while calling other believers saints. He called others saints to EDIFY THEM and called himself a sinner because that's what he was - an apostle and the author of most of the books of the NT and a great man of God - but STILL a weak and sinful vessel. NOWHERE in the scriptures does anyone proclaim - I AM A SAINT. The only time the term saint is used is to EDIFY others. :) I am a sinner called to be a saint.
