sklippstein,

I had the same reaction to SnuP's post at first. But then I prayed about it and he is so right.

When I read SnuP's post, I went to the stand I keep my bible on..tossed it over the couch...when I set down and looked over it was opened to Romans 6. I picked it up....starting reading....and my mouth fell open and my eyes were finally opened to the truth.

I had read Romans so many times and didn't get what Paul was telling us. NOW I GET IT. When I read it this time, it was like the Lord had opened my eyes to HIS truth and I understood what it meant. To be saved we must die 100% in Christ....turn away from our old lives and be reborn in HIM.

Read what Paul tells us.

Romans 6

Dead to Sin.....Alive in Christ

1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.

6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--

7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

Slaves to Righteousness

15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.

18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.

21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Galatians 5:17 (LIV) For we naturally love to do evil things that the Holy Spirit tells us not to do; and the good things we want to do when the Holy Spirit has His way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us, and our wishes are never free from their pressures.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Gal. 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

There is a power of Godliness and we must not deny it's ability to change us and have effect on our lives to not sin. We keep trying and going to God for help, but let no one tell you you can willfully continue in sin and deny the power of Godliness.

2Tim.3: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

We are to live Godly lives:

1 Timothy 6:11  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

This version of the scripture I do not agree with. It puts a infinite limitation on the power of God to redeem that is contrary to other scriptures. I believe it was translated incorrectly.

This person that Paul was talking about is a double minded man.

In fact, Every man that continues to commit sins is double minded.

Thats right... as a for instance when the Holy spirit is within you, it IS He who leads... if you do move the wrong way He will tell you, and sometimes quite forceably if need be.

I've been zap ouched a couple times myself...

I love Him He is so good, so ever present... I worry about nothing, my mistakes He makes quite clear to me... before they can erupt into dangerous situations or remove me from the path which He desires me to follow... Praise God.

So do you think you dont ever sin? So you are perfect? Wow! It must be great being you.

Do you realize that this post was only scripture?

But you are called to be spiritual, not human.

We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Sin should not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

You should have been set free from sin, and should have become a slave to righteousness.

Romans 6:2, 7, 14, 18

I lived without sin, and I have been perfect but only by following this scripture.

16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

When you walk in the Spirit, you cannot sin, because you are constantly surrounded by God and His persence.  Where God is there cannot be any sin.  And if you are constantly surrounded by His Spirit and are always looking to Him and following His leading then you can't sin.

Read 1 John 1:8-10.

If we say that we have no sin, we decieve ourselves, and  the  truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins he is faithfull and just to us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

This is talking about christians.
