1. I suspect you claim to know then, rather than believe?
Your suspicion would be incorrect. Knowledge is different to both acceptance and belief.

2. Einstein's theory of general relativity.
I accept it as it appears to provide adequate explanation for observed phenomena. But I'm happy for it to be wrong if there is a better explanation.

Why do you reject it?

Thank you for answering my questions.

I reject it because I don't have enough evidence to believe it's true.

OK, so how do you explain the effects that others put down to gravity? Why do objects fall towards the ground? Why can't/don't we just float away? Why can we close our eyes and still tell if we are standing upright or lying flat?

1. Objects fall because they are denser than the surrounding medium.
2. We are denser than the surrounding medium.
3. Internal equilibrium, involving the inner ear.

But why do they fall towards the ground rather than any other direction?

Up is up and down is down. Why would they fall any other way?

If a force is needed to prevent human beings or other things from "falling sideways" or "falling up", perhaps pressure? Perhaps vibration? Perhaps frequency? Perhaps some type of diamagnetism? Perhaps a combination? I don't have a conclusion on this.

That is not an explanation, it is an observation.

Please don't deflect. I'm asking you to explain why things fall in a certain direction. I'd assume there must be a pull or a push involved, but would like your explanation please.

I gave some options to explain why human beings and other things don't fall up or sideways in the post you just responded to.

Perhaps pressure? Perhaps vibration? Perhaps frequency? Perhaps some type of diamagnetism? Perhaps a combination? I don't have a conclusion on this.

No, you gave observations. One object being denser than another is not an explanation for why it falls in a certain direction. I'm denser than air - why don't I fall upwards?

You have no explanation or evidence but consider this to be more robust than SR? This would be a perfect example of you denying physics, even though you claim not to do so.

I don't consider the list of possibilities I provided as "robust" at all and certainly not more so than SR. Then again, I also don't need an explanation for why human beings and other things don't "fall up" or "fall sideways".

If you want Flat Earth to be acceptable to others you certainly do need an explanation. If humans fall, why doesn't the sun/moon/satellites etc fall? Are they somehow not subject to this phenomenon? Does this phenomenon only apply up to a certain distance from the ground?

Where did I state that I wanted "Flat Earth to be acceptable to others" ?

Regarding why the Sun doesn't fall down to the Earth, I don't know. Perhaps it's held in a magnetic field? Likewise with the Moon. As for satellites in low Earth orbit or beyond, I don't know if those exist.

You didn't, and I didn't say that you had made an explicit statement. However, your responses in this thread, particularly in the early part of the thread, indicate that you would like Flat Earth to be acceptable to others.

Let me guess - satellite communications, GPS and other satellite based services are all somehow delivered using ground based technologies, but you cannot explain how? If I want satellite TV I point a dish to the sky, but it gets a signal from the ground? Nor can you explain how we can see satellites in orbit with the naked eye, and confirm their detail with telescopes and binoculars?

You assumed incorrectly.

If they exist, I don't know how satellites work.

If satellites exist, I don't know how they work in a Biblical Earth model.
You've made clear that you can't explain how they stay up, but is that all you mean by "how they work"?

I also assume you mean Biblical Flat Earth model. Most Biblical models have a spherical earth. Either way, I don't think anyone can explain how satellites work on any flat earth, biblical or otherwise.

I also note that you haven't attempted to explain how we are able to see satellites with the naked eye - do you have anything, or is this another area we should just ignore?

1. Yes, that is what I mean by "how they work".

2. Literally what the Bible describes the Earth to be.

3. I don't know if those lights in the sky we can see are satellites.
