  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Note: Needless to say this was all written in advance of Easter I couldn't make blog entries for everyday of Triduum, so instead I just opted to make this one entry on behalf of all the days of Triduum, as well as Easter in particular. Is Your Church Eternal?

Is the church eternal or can the church fail? Catholics tell me that Jesus ordained His Church and that Church will stand until the Day of Judgment. God ordained it and that's that. Is this what the Bible really tells us? In Revelation chapters 2-3, John is directed to write to seven churches...

    What happened?

I noticed that the Catholic Charismatic forum is now read only. Then I saw the same for Salt of the Earth and the liberal Catholic fora as well. And then two of the lesser traveled subfora here in OBOB. I didn't see an explanation. What happened?

    Children And Education

I am writing a novel at the moment about the coming of age of half a dozen boys who are mates. It is not a Christian novel because I want boys who are not Christians to read it, but much of it includes Christian themes written in a language that they would understand. For instance, I guide...

    Mass attendance obligation

I don't agree with the obligation to attend Mass within the Catholic Church. Somedays I don't feel I want to leave the house (because of my mental illness), and feel that that is too much of a commitment I am not able to make. And the law of the church says that if one misses the Mass, one has...

    Catholics Becoming Protestant

"One out of every 10 Americans is an ex-Catholic. If they were a separate denomination, they would be the third-largest denomination in the United States, after Catholics and Baptists. One of three people who were raised Catholic no longer identifies as Catholic." At least half of those leaving...

    work matters...

OBJECTOR: The other day I was reading the book of Galatians, and it struck me how much emphasis Paul places on faith as the means of salvation. Then I asked myself how Catholics can believe in justification by works. If the Catholic Church really believes the Bible, as it claims, how can it...

How Revelations Foretells the existence of the RCC and the Protestant Church in Revelations 12:1-6

I have a theory that both Churches, RCC and Protestant types, were foretold in the Bible. Here's why: (This is NRSV) Revelations 12 A great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 She was pregnant and...

    priesthood

Protestants argue that there is no ministerial priesthood. Instead, they say we’re all priests. As Martin Luther did, they use 1 Peter 2:9 to support this claim: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people.” Catholics argue that a ministerial priesthood does...
