  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    The superfluousness of souls

Some religions accepting a form of dualism say that man is two parts: body and soul. But is that really true? Virtually everything (and I say virtually because I just don’t know how complete the research currently is) we do and experience has been shown to be made possible by specific functions...

On the futility of evidence-based apologetics

It’s common in discussions between theists and atheists for the subject of “evidence” to come up. Atheists will often state that the evidence for God is not sufficient to warrant belief, and the theist will either agree and appeal to faith, or they will disagree and provide what they think to be...

I will rep and bless anyone who answers these 5 easy questions

It's for a school project due very soon... All I need is your age and gender, then answer these: a)What is your favorite thing to do? b)What is the most important future goal you have? In other words, if it were now 2025, what would you have liked to have accomplished? c)If you could have...

    I found God...

...but not in the way you think. I've been doing a lot of thinking about religion and psychology lately, and here's what I've come up with. There is probably no God, in the sense of an all-knowing, all-powerful being that created the universe. However, God is very much alive in the minds of...

Something about humor that I've always wondered..

Why do many people find slapstick humor so funny? We see somebody fall out of a tree or walk into a pole, and as long as they're ok, we laugh our heads off. I wonder if chimps laugh at each other when that happens.. I can't imagine what evolutionary pressures would cause humor at the misfortune...

    In God's Image

Just out of curiosity... for those of you who take Genesis literally, what do you suppose the assertion that we are "made in God's image" actually means? Does God have two arms, two legs, ten fingers, etc.? Where do the similarities end? Does God have an appendix, wisdom teeth, a tailbone, and...

Please help me with school project!

Hi everyone, I have a project for my psych 232 class which requires me to interview 6 people (3 men, 3 women) between ages 30 and 60. All I ask is that you answer these 5 questions honestly and thoughtfully. A few sentences should be enough, but feel free to write as much as you want. It's due...

    Swimmers & Souls

According to the Swimmers' Doctrine, do the magnificent orangutans believe in souls? Just a simple YES or NO will do; this is an honest question, not an invitation to suggest that the question is flawed.

    Presuppositionalism

Anyone familiar with this argument? I'm arguing with a presuppositionalist elsewhere, and while the idea is absurd, I can't seem to find its weak point. A little help?

    My Fingers Challenge

Please answer this question with discrete numbers -- and please don't say ten. How many fingers (thumbs included) does the average human have?

    More absurdities of science

I just thought I'd continue the list in another thread about all the absurdities science is feeding us, since the other one got boring. 1) That a tube of metal weighing several tons can actually fly in the air without the use of miraculous magic; 2) That a careless exchange of fluids can...

    Scientific Dogma

I'm troubled... I'm seeing an increasing occurence of the phrase scientific dogma being used by creationists. This leads be to believe that they don't really know the definition of the word "dogma." The American Heritage Dictionary defines it as: A doctrine or a corpus of doctrines relating...

    My Breakfast Challenge

Yeah, copying someone else's style, I'm clever. Suppose you're sleeping in on a sunday morning, while your brother and sister eat breakfast downstairs. When you finally decide you're done sleeping, you wander into the kitchen, you find yourself alone and there's a note on the table that reads...

If there is no evidence for creation...

...then why should we believe it? Because the Bible said so? That begs the question, why should we believe the Bible?
