So there can only be one problem? There can't be two? A person can't detest both bigoted speech and unjustified acts of violence?
"unjustified acts of violence" carries an air of gravitas that getting egged does not reach in my opinion.

Although it is technically correct.

First, I am an individual, not a group. Secondly, have you tried the experiment I suggested? Try it. See what happens. ;)

Why bother with the water balloon? Just grab them by the...

... oh, wait, we're not talking about women, are we?

People arouind the world tend to forget New Zealand is a small country made up of just over 4 Million people, and Mr Anning's comments do not accurately represent New Zealands Muslim community. They are a very small percentage, and to have comments from Right Wing pundits around the world generalise this NZ Muslim minority makes them look phony and disingenuous.

I especially despise the use of Nigeria as leverage to undermine Christchurch's tragety. They only exploit it for political reasons and it's a truly disgusting display of insincerity for the victims.
I have certainly lost a lot of respect for conservatives that try and use the deaths of others to justify their own political bias.

To understand Mr Anning's uninformed remarks, sometimes to save time, all you really need is that liberal spontaneous action to just bring out the literalness of it all. (I.E., egg on your face). Personally, I thought the egg was tame as here we tend to throw [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] at politicans faces and get off scott free.

Freedom of speech means having the right to say things I disagree with, or even things I find disgusting. However, the Left will justify any action to shut down those they disagree with. This is becoming more common here in Australia where speakers are being required to pay for protection from Left wing & liberal Christian mobs.

Hmm, as opposed to right wing Australians... now what have they been up to lately? I can't imagine.

if you are ignorant, as you indicate, then you can try reading...
I assumed the sarcasm was clear from context.

It seems odd to complain about the dangers of the Australian left in a thread about the Australian right who, in recent weeks, have produced mass murderers and apologists for genocide.

... you are the one who said you were ignorant of the situation, not me ...

It is par for the course for the Left to link the political Right with extremist behaviour ... what I referred to were mainstream venues, such as universities, limiting freedom of speech

btw, the thread is as much about a physical attack on a speaker as it is about a speaker with unpalatable ideas

People shooting up others in places of worshiiiip....People wanting to limiting free speeeeech because of the hateful ideology that spawns that violence.... Boy it's a tough choice to figure out which side I feel a moral obligation to support.

No. I was talking about actual, physical assault, not just banter.

Still, one assumes the banter was in reference to events that actually happened in the past.

I finally watched the egg video. It was great! Much less dangerous an attack that the long distance egg throw I'd pictured which could hit someone in the eye or something.

Frank Burns received a Purple Heart in Korea for getting hit in the eye with an (egg)shell fragment...
