I just posted this thread on the End Time and Eschatology forum, but also thought I post this here too to help as many people as possible to stay alert and be ready.

If you study bible prophecy and follow the events in the middle east, you know that time is getting closer.

Anyways, there's a new rapture movie coming out in October with Nicolas Cage. It's also titled "Left Behind."

The purpose and message behind this movie and my post is "be prepare and ready!"

Luke 21:34-36 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
34) Don’t spend all of your time thinking about eating or drinking or worrying about life. If you do, the final day will suddenly catch you 35) like a trap. That day will surprise everyone on earth. 36) Watch out and keep praying that you can escape all that is going to happen and that the Son of Man will be pleased with you.

I know everyone here read Luke 21:34-36 many times, but I think many people don't realized the bible's main message it tells us is to be "mentally prepare." Thinking outside the Pre-Trib rapture is hindering yourself from being mentally prepared.

The rapture will come at a time when people are thinking about eating, drinking and worrying about life. (A time of peace).

Luke 21:25-27 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
25) Strange things will happen to the sun, moon, and stars. The nations on earth will be afraid of the roaring sea and tides, and they won’t know what to do. 26) People will be so frightened that they will faint because of what is happening to the world. Every power in the sky will be shaken. 27) Then the Son of Man will be seen, coming in a cloud with great power and glory.

The rapture will not come when the nations on earth will be afraid of the roaring sea and tides, and they won’t know what to do. People will be so frightened that they will faint because of what is happening to the world. This is when Jesus returns in the 2nd Coming: Rev 19 (a time of war and great tribulation on earth).

See the distinct difference?

One final note. I recently found out what Rev 6:16-17 meant. It's referring to those Christians and unbelievers left behind and know they will go through the tribulation. It's their reaction knowing they've been left behind on earth....like a "trap."

Revelation 6:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV)
16) and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17) For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Luke 21:34-35 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
34) Don’t spend all of your time thinking about eating or drinking or worrying about life. If you do, the final day will suddenly catch you 35) like a trap. That day will surprise everyone on earth.

The problem with 'left behind', is it fly's in the face of "never shall I leave you".

I don't want to judge this new movie, as I don't know much about it, but the original one in the 70's "thief in the night"… that movie instilled in me:
1) Fear of the future
2) Doubting my salvation
3) Anxiety of 'being left behind'
4) An endless effort to 'trying to do good' (but failing)

It took the promises of GOD to deliver me from it!

Praise the LORD!

You have a good point. So many people are preparing with material cushioning (or not) like emergency food, but forget to focus on hearing from God, and letting Him guide them through tough times.

We tend to lean on our own understanding.

Nick Cage... I hope he can resist telling people exactly how things will happen.

This is not the same salvation. You're thinking John 3:16.

To all others reading this.

I hope Christians don't confuse Jesus' Gift of Salvation with the rapture. They are entirely two different things.

His Gift of Salvation for trusting in Him to save your "soul" from the lake of fire and have everlasting life in heaven is His free gift to all that accepted Him as Lord & Savior. Your name is already written in the book of life and no matter how bad your sins are in the future, His death overpaid for all future sins.

This is His Gift of Salvation for your "soul" through your faith by believing in Him and His finished work on the cross.

Ephesians 2:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

________________________

Now the rapture is totally separate, and it's mostly based on our works.

First off, let's clarify an issue. Not all Christians will be rapture. Klu Klux Klan members are Christians but will not be rapture. I know that's an extreme example but who here actually think they will be? Or who think they deserve to be?

Paul wrote several books on how to live a Christian life that pleases God, and how to be prepare for the rapture. This is based on our work. People shouldn't expect it to happen without some type of willingness to live a righteous life. Many Christians in this country accepted Christ's Gift of Salvation but continue to live the same life they did before accepting Jesus. They have not pursued a closer relationship with God. They are living the life of a Lukewarm Christian.

I won't go into details of which books and verses Paul wrote about because there's too much to write. But I'll quote one scripture I love because I've found it to be very accurate from experience in gaining God's favor and blessings.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-22 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Final Instructions and Greetings

12) My friends, we ask you to be thoughtful of your leaders who work hard and tell you how to live for the Lord. 13) Show them great respect and love because of their work. Try to get along with each other. 14) My friends, we beg you to warn anyone who isn’t living right. Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone. 15) Don’t be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else.

16) Always be joyful 17) and never stop praying. 18) Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.

19) Don’t turn away God’s Spirit 20) or ignore prophecies. 21) Put everything to the test. Accept what is good 22) and don’t have anything to do with evil.

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+thes+5%3A12-22&version=CEV

You can see this is all by work, not much mentioned about faith. But I'm not advocating Christians to forget their faith, I'm advising Christians to do the work required with faith.

The main purpose of our work is to help us grow as Christians. Paul constantly warned in numerous scriptures the danger of not growing and become spiritually shipwrecked if we failed to grow.

Jesus will be very selective of who He'll choose to reign with Him during the millennium (rapture), and He will turn away many.

Matthew 7:21-23 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
21) “Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter God’s kingdom. The only people who will enter are those who do what my Father in heaven wants. 22) On that last Day many will call me Lord. They will say, ‘Lord, Lord, by the power of your name we spoke for God. And by your name we forced out demons and did many miracles.’ 23) Then I will tell those people clearly, ‘Get away from me, you people who do wrong. I never knew you.’

Matthew 13:41 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will find the people who cause sin and all those who do evil. The angels will take those people out of his kingdom.

Matthew 22:13-14 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
13) So the king told some servants, ‘Tie this man’s hands and feet. Throw him out into the darkness, where people are crying and grinding their teeth with pain.’
14) “Yes, many people are invited. But only a few are chosen.”

Matthew 24:50-51 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
50) Then the master will come when the servant is not ready, at a time when the servant is not expecting him. 51) Then the master will punish that servant. He will send him away to be with the hypocrites, where people will cry and grind their teeth with pain.

Be Ready and Be Prepare!!!

Matthew 25:12-13 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
12) “But the bridegroom answered, ‘Certainly not! I don’t even know you.’
13) “So always be ready. You don’t know the day or the time when the Son of Man will come.

Matthew 25:41 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
“Then the king will say to the evil people on his left, ‘Get away from me. God has already decided that you will be punished. Go into the fire that burns forever—the fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels.

Revelation 2:5 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
So remember where you were before you fell. Change your hearts and do what you did at first. If you don’t change, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

Revelation 2:16 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
So change your hearts! If you don’t change, I will come to you quickly and fight against these people with the sword that comes out of my mouth.

Revelation 2:21-22 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
21) I have given her time to change her heart and turn away from her sin, but she does not want to change.
22) “So I will throw her on a bed of suffering. And all those who commit adultery with her will suffer greatly. I will do this now if they don’t turn away from the things she does.

Revelation 3:3 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
So don’t forget what you have received and heard. Obey it. Change your hearts and lives! You must wake up, or I will come to you and surprise you like a thief. You will not know when I will come.

Revelation 3:19 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
“I correct and punish the people I love. So show that nothing is more important to you than living right. Change your hearts and lives.

I'm not trying to scare anyone with these scriptures but a question to ask is this. "If Jesus' Gift of Salvation save us from the tribulation, why does Jesus constantly tell us to change and live right?"

I'm running out of room, but might post another thread in a few days about how to prepare yourself, be ready and live a life Father God wants from us. It's really not hard nor a lot of work, it's just a little adjusting one's lifestyle "IF" you'll allow God to work with you.

..."If Jesus' Gift of Salvation save us from the tribulation, why does Jesus constantly tell us to change and live right?"....

consider that by 'living right' Jesus wasn't telling us to 'stop that sinning', but rather to 'be led by God instead of your own understanding', as this will lead to a reduction in 'sinning' (wrong thoughts and actions) to the extent you are led by Him.

Isa 1:18-20
(18) Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
(19) If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
(20) But if ye refuse <to reason together with me> and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

It seems some folk don't understand this is a place for asking for Christian advice but instead are using it as a soap box to promote their particular belief systems. You know there is, I believe, an eschatology forum and other forums where your post might seem more appropriate.

Since this is an advice forum, though, I will offer my advice. My advice is to search Scriptures and see if there is anything that isn't "between the lines" interpretations that say anything whatsoever about a pretrib rapture. Also search history to see where pretrib comes from.

You spoke of the events re the Moslems. Yes, Christians are being horribly persecuted. They aren't being raptured out of it. But do you think that if persecution comes you don't have to worry because you will be rescued by a pretrib rapture? Rhetorical Q.

Praying for all people to come to the full truth of the Scriptures and be prepared for what is coming through humble praise, prayer and obedience.

Hon- please don't clog up the Advice forums with this kind of thing. It's just annoying when people are genuinely seeking help- and it's against the rules:

Christian Advice Statement of Purpose

Christian Advice is a non-debate area for members to ask and receive Biblically-based, Christian advice for a struggle they are encountering. Christian Advice is a Christians only area, but non-Christians may ask questions if they are seeking advice of a Christian nature. Christian advice is defined as advice which contains basic Christian principles that do not conflict with the site's Statement of Faith. Christian Advice is not a debate forum, nor is it a place to discuss theology. If you wish to debate Christian theology, there are other forums dedicated to that purpose.

Members who post a thread with the intent to give advice, not ask for advice, may either have their thread moved to more appropriate forum, or removed as off topic if there isn't a suitable forum for their thread.
