  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

‘Just Contemptible’: Piers Morgan Skewers Democrats For ‘Pathetic’ Antics During Trump Speech

I really appreciate when stuff like this happens, because it vividly illustrates selective outrage and hypocrisy. Guy at a Trump rally calls Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage? How un-christian! How vile! How appalling! Guy at Sanders rally literally blasphemes God and all of Christianity? Free speech, doncha know!

Catholic university in Miami plans major expansion to fill Florida’s nursing gap

Amid Florida’s nursing shortage, a Catholic university in the Archdiocese of Miami is expanding its nursing department following top test scores by its students.

St. Thomas University announced on Feb. 27 its plans for a 99,000-square-foot nursing college building. The archdiocesan-run university is seeking $3.5 million from the Florida Legislature to jump-start the project, which would eventually accommodate the 2,000 nursing students STU expects to have in 2026.

The university is expanding its nursing program amid Florida’s nursing gap. In 2024, Florida had the lowest scores in the nation on the National Council Licensure Examination — but in the same year, 100% of St. Thomas University’s nurses passed the exam. This was the second year in a row that the nursing program had a 100% pass rate.

The building will be home to the university’s newly created College of Nursing and College of Health Sciences and Technology, all part of an effort to close Florida’s widening nursing gap.

Vatican could be close to decision in Rupnik case, report says

A media report says the Vatican’s doctrine office could be close to a decision in the case of the ex-Jesuit Father Marko Rupnik.

According to OSV News, a “sentence is expected in the not too distant future” in the canonical trial of the priest-artist accused of the sexual, psychological, and spiritual abuse of dozens of religious sisters under his spiritual care.

OSV News also said Rupnik would be tried for the crime of “spiritual abuse.” Last November, the head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, said a Vatican working group was studying the possibility of making “spiritual abuse” a formalized crime in Church law rather than merely an aggravating circumstance of other crimes.

The report was published as some of Rupnik’s alleged victims shared their stories on the Italian television program “Le Iene” (“The Hyenas”), which aired on March 9. In the program, Italian journalist Roberta Rei confronted Rupnik at a Rome airport baggage claim but received no response to her questions about whether the abuse claims against him were true.

Ohio Catholic hospital resolves First Amendment dispute over ‘body cavity’ search

An Ohio Catholic hospital has resolved a legal dispute in which it alleged that city authorities violated its constitutional rights in attempting to force it to perform a drug search on a patient.

Mercy Health, the city of Lorain, and Lorain County have reached “a fair and mutually satisfactory resolution of recent state and federal legal matters between them,” the three parties said this week, with the resolution coming after the hospital filed a lawsuit in January against the city.

The suit had alleged that police in August brought a “detainee” to the hospital’s emergency room and requested that doctors “perform a body cavity search” to determine if the suspect was in possession of drugs.

Doctors at the hospital refused, citing what they said was “an unjustifiably high risk of serious bodily injury or death” to the patient, specifically the risk that the search would release drugs into the patient’s system.

French Lawsuit Against META, for Using Copyrighted Works Without Paying

"Montagne accused Meta of “noncompliance with copyright and parasitism.”

Another group, the National Union of Authors and Composers, which represents 700 writers, playwrights and composers, said the lawsuit was necessary to protect members from “AI which plunders their works and cultural heritage to train itself."

The union is also worried about AI that “produces 'fake books' which compete with real books,” the union's president, Francois Peyrony, said."

Riley Gaines Act becomes law in West Virginia: 'Common sense'

West Virginia has become the latest state to prohibit trans-identified males from using sex-segregated spaces designated for women by enacting a measure seen as “common sense” by supporters while denounced by opponents as “an attempt to force trans people back into the closet.”

On Wednesday, West Virginia’s Republican Gov. Patrick Morrisey signed the Riley Gaines Act into law. The measure is named after Riley Gaines, a prominent former female swimmer who spoke out against having to compete against and share a locker room with a trans-identified male swimmer. Gaines, who was present when Morrisey signed the legislation that bears her name, reported feeling “extreme discomfort” about having to share a locker room with the trans-identified athlete, Lia Thomas, who still has male genitalia.

In a statement announcing his approval of the measure, Morrisey declared that “Today, we sent a strong message that West Virginia stands with women.” He insisted that “West Virginia will not bow down to radical gender ideology – we are going to lead with common sense, and the Riley Gaines Act does exactly that.”

Border area bustling under Biden now quiet under Trump, says veterans group: 'Amazing difference'

Border Vets volunteers say they have seen drastic change in just a few weeks

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — Veterans who have volunteered to help secure the border in Southern California say there has been an incredible difference in what they have seen since President Donald Trumptook office in January.

“There has been such an amazing difference between what was going on during the Biden administration versus what's going on under the Trump administration" said Kate Monroe, a Marine Corps veteran who became the founder of Border Vets, a group of U.S. military veterans who have given their own time and money to patch up holes in the border barrier in Southern California.

The comments come as Trump has continued his push to secure the southern border, seeking to make good on a promise that became a cornerstone of his third campaign for president.

The data seemingly indicates Trump has made good on that campaign promise, with the number of southern border encounters last month hitting lows not seen in about a quarter-century last month, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data that was first reported by Axios.

Trump says he’ll send ‘worst criminal aliens’ to Guantanamo

All remaining migrants at Guantanamo Bay flown to Louisiana to await deportation

Well, that was certainly dumb, expensive and possibly illegal.

All of the remaining migrants being held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba have been moved to Louisiana over the last two days, according to a U.S. official.

In late January, President Donald Trump announced he was signing an executive order "to instruct the departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay."

U.S. officials confirmed the 195 tents, capable of housing 500 migrants, at Guantanamo Bay did not meet ICE's requirements for holding migrants, such as having air conditioning and other amenities.

U.S. officials told ABC News it is possible some of the hundreds of U.S. troops sent to the base to help prepare it to house migrants might be relocated to help with the southern border mission in another capacity.

Biblical Justice

Well, actually > the Law of Moses is not a religion . . . I suppose. What do you think?
Well, what I meant there by religion is "prescriptions of any religion," where God's prescriptions to Israel are a "religion."
I think it is God's own perfect rule for a human civilization.
However, God deliberately gave it only to Israel and to no other nation.
Also, it was given in the context of how God had been proving Himself to the Jews.
It was not about God proving himself to the Jews.
It was about God electing the Jews to accomplish his purposes.
And there was meant to be the example of how the people were honoring the LORD and loving as a community with family caring and sharing relating.
God's purpose and choice of the Jews was to receive the Messiah, which they rejected.

Is Trump breaking the alliance?

I think it would be interesting who will be in charge of a European army.

At the moment NATO gives the hierarchies, in the future if Trump makes the USA irrelevant to Europe, it will be contingent on the force composition of the deployed units and where they are fighting

Germany has elected a government that is focusing on issues similar to our own.

When going by capita, the countries in the middle east take the majority of refugees.

Mainly from other Muslim countries in the Middle East. So the common thread is the failure of Middle Eastern governments to cater for their poorest and most vulnerable citizens

How Should Christians Pray During Ramadan 2025?

Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. One must enter through faith in Him.

I love Israel as much as others, so I'm glad other people want peace in Israel, but they need salvation through Christ first.
If some people believe that Jesus is the commander-in-chief of the Israeli army, they will take a step closer to the essence of Jesus' identity.

Can you help me find movies or documentaries that teach about the Bible?

Hi John (@JohnB445), here is an excellent, very well-done movie/documentary about the Bible. I'll include the entire HD movie (with all of its beautiful cinematography and insightful and informative teachings). The cast of contributors includes a number of well-known theologians, pastors, evangelists, apologists, historians and linguists, just FYI.

Enjoy :) (you may need to change the trailer and/or movie quality back to 1080 HD, even though I uploaded them here in HD, just FYI)

God bless you!!

Study analyzes whether red or blue states are more 'sinful': See where your state ranks

idk. Maryland’s way down in 27 and we’re about as heterogeneous as you can get.

You’re not missing anything unless you’re into overpriced theme parks, bad drivers, and humidity.
Yes, you would have to run the statistics with the race data to see what might correlate. On the good side, I don't think folks from Maryland are that known for being gluttons.

Republicans announce new House select subcommittee to investigate old House select subcommittee to investigate Jan. 6

"False"!

The "Christopher Steele Dossier" was the foundation for the investigation, it was delivered by John McCain to the FBI, a document fabricated by "Steele" and paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC

Both the Republicans and the Democrats said that Crossfire Hurricane stated because of what Papadopoulos said.
Competing memos from the Republicans and the Democrats on the House intelligence committee both say that information about George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser, had prompted the FBI investigation in July 2016.

A memo released Feb. 2, 2018, by the Republicans on the House intelligence committee
raised concerns about the use of the dossier in an application from the DOJ and FBI under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to conduct electronic surveillance on Carter Page, another Trump campaign foreign policy adviser. But it said the “Papadopoulos information triggered the opening of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016.

The Democrats on the House intelligence committee agreed with that, saying in a memo released Feb. 24, 2018, that the FBI investigation started “more than seven weeks” before the FBI received Steele’s intelligence reporting in mid-September of that year.

The two sides disagree about how essential the dossier was to the FISA court application to monitor Page. But one of the few points of agreement is that the FBI investigation began with information on Papadopoulos.

After the GOP memo was released, Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy, also a member of the intelligence committee, said the dossier didn’t have any effect on the Russia investigation. “I actually don’t think it has any impact on the Russia probe,” Gowdy said on Feb. 4, 2018, on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Gowdy mentioned other incidents that had nothing to do with the dossier, including Papadopoulos’ contacts with the professor and the June 9, 2016, Trump Tower meeting Donald Trump Jr. arranged with what he was told was a “Russian government attorney” offering incriminating information on Hillary Clinton. “So there’s going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier.”

From Andrew Mcabe
We started the investigations without the dossier. We were proceeding with the investigations before we ever received that information,” McCabe told CNN. “Was the dossier material important to the [FISA] package? Of course, it was. As was every fact included in that package. Was it the majority of what was in the package? Absolutely not.”

Trust His Plan

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.” (Romans 8:28-30 NASB’95)

Life on this earth right now is a bit crazy, well it is in America with our new government head in place. Our president is making all kinds of decisions for our nation and its people which have some or many Americans troubled and concerned with regard to our future. And the news daily is loaded with all kinds of troubling predictions as to where all this is headed, and how it is going to impact the American people. It is a daily barrage of angst and fearmongering. But for some, they are rejoicing, believing this is all good.

From my perspective, I look at it all through the lens of the teachings of the Scriptures and all that the Lord has shown me and taught me the past 21 years about my government and who they are and what they have been doing in the world, and where all this is headed. I believe all this is headed to a one world government and the mark of the beast and the persecution of Christians and to very troubling and difficult times ahead. How soon we will get there I do not know. But I believe we are headed in that direction.

So, when we read in this Scripture that God causes all things to work together for good, that does not necessarily mean for our pleasure and enjoyment. That does not mean that we won’t go through trials and tribulations to test our faith. That does not mean that we won’t lose our source of income and that we won’t be homeless and hungry and without food and water and a place to live. For he promised us that we will have tribulation and persecutions and that some of us will be put to death.

What God means by “good” does not necessarily agree with human “good.” What he means is “for our best,” i.e. what is needed or necessary in our lives to conform us to the likeness of the character of Jesus Christ, i.e. what will humble us and cause us to call on the Lord for help, and that which hopefully will bring some wandering Christians to genuine repentance and to sincere walks of faith and obedience to the Lord. For that is much needed! So many are not following the Lord, but are still living to please the flesh.

But this says, “..for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” And those who love God, according to the Scriptures, are those who obey him. For if we do not obey him, we do not love him. So when these trials and tribulations are upon us, which appears that they have already begun, for those who choose to obey God, God will use these difficulties for our good, to draw us close or closer to him in walks of obedience to his commands, and to get us ready for his return.

For, those who are called according to his purpose are those who love and obey him, or who will yet love and obey him before the end of time. And his purpose is that we die with him to sin and that we walk in obedience to his commands in fulfilling the purpose for why he gave us the breath of life, and for why he put us on this earth. For it is not to please and entertain ourselves. It is that we might do his will and go where he sends us and do what he has created us and called us to do, for his glory and praise.

Even though things could very soon turn very bad, depending on the timing and on where all this eventually ends up, if we love and obey God, God will use it all in our lives for our ultimate good. He will conform us to the likeness of character of Jesus Christ, and he will get us ready to spend eternity with our Lord. And he will make us into the people he wants us to be, while we are still on the earth, in sharing his love, grace, and gospel with the people of the world who need to know Jesus. So we need to remember that.

So when things begin to get bad, which eventually they will, we need to pray and ask the Lord what he wants to teach us through it all, and how he wants to use this time of suffering in our lives to make us more like Jesus. And instead of worrying how we will survive it all, we need to pray and ask the Lord for direction in what to do and where to go next, and he will guide us. For none of this has caught him by surprise, and he is not without a plan. We just need to rest in him, and trust in his plan, and go where he sends us.

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

Measuring the speed magma creeps toward the surface

"In some volcanic eruptions, magma creeps toward the surface so slowly that it would lose to the sloth, while in others, it would leave even Usain Bolt in the dust. But how do scientists measure a process that happens miles underground, hidden from view? The answer lies in tiny chemical changes preserved within erupted materials—microscopic clues that reveal the speeds at which magma rises toward the surface during explosive eruptions."

Peter Popoff's ‘Miracle spring water’ lands UK Christian TV channel with £150,000 Ofcom fine

He's still around?! A normal person would have hidden shame after getting exposed for wearing an earpiece to perform "miracles" at his revivals. Then his "Miracle Spring Water" got exposed by several news agencies like 20/20, Inside Edition, and (I believe) Last Week Tonight. This just says a lot about the gullibility and/or desperation of some, the failure of various legal systems to get him to stop, and how much of a miserable weasel Popoff is.

I Lift Up My Soul

To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul,
I trust in You, Lord, to make me whole.
Of You, Lord, I will not be ashamed,
So over me enemies not gain.

Make me, O Lord, to know of Your ways,
Lord, in Your truth, guide me all my days.
For my salvation, it comes from You,
So teach me, Lord, to know what is true.

Now good and upright are You, my Lord,
Help me to live for You, in accord.
For You instruct Your sheep in right ways,
So from Your word Your sheep will not stray.

Who are we then who now fear the Lord?
Your Spirit on us You have outpoured.
You teach us the way that we should choose,
And of Your grace we should not abuse.

He teaches us now to Him obey,
Remain in Him, not His love betray,
To keep our minds fully set on Him,
And not give way to just any whim.

So when we’re lonely, with trials sore,
To Him we reach out, Him we adore.
When troubles of our hearts are enlarged,
That’s when to us His love is discharged.

So don’t be fearful of enemies,
Who treat you badly on hateful spree,
Let God deliver you from your fear,
And to His goodness be ever near.
