I Lift Up My Soul

To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul,
I trust in You, Lord, to make me whole.
Of You, Lord, I will not be ashamed,
So over me enemies not gain.

Make me, O Lord, to know of Your ways,
Lord, in Your truth, guide me all my days.
For my salvation, it comes from You,
So teach me, Lord, to know what is true.

Now good and upright are You, my Lord,
Help me to live for You, in accord.
For You instruct Your sheep in right ways,
So from Your word Your sheep will not stray.

Who are we then who now fear the Lord?
Your Spirit on us You have outpoured.
You teach us the way that we should choose,
And of Your grace we should not abuse.

He teaches us now to Him obey,
Remain in Him, not His love betray,
To keep our minds fully set on Him,
And not give way to just any whim.

So when we’re lonely, with trials sore,
To Him we reach out, Him we adore.
When troubles of our hearts are enlarged,
That’s when to us His love is discharged.

So don’t be fearful of enemies,
Who treat you badly on hateful spree,
Let God deliver you from your fear,
And to His goodness be ever near.
