My opinion is that biblical writing is not only ancient and foreign, but in addition to that, like all human writing, is representational in nature and not presenting exact, analogical language. There might have been some 'small' flood in or around the Mesopotamian region that later influenced the writing of hyperbolic accounts that made it sound like the waters flowed over mountains. The fact is, we just don't know and whatever archaeological evidences there are for either a big flood or for a large ark are scant and leave our conclusions underdetermined.

But that's ok because much of ancient history is underdetermined and we just have to work with the fragmentary remains that we have.

It's quite vexing that these guys don't just join the Episcopal Church/CoE/whatever it's branch might be in their respective countries. At this point it feels like it's beyond mere ignorance that they could just jump ship and probably be welcomed as a bishop in the worldwide Anglican Communion, Lutheran Church, or something else. Rather, they know that Rome's the one true church and they stay both out of fear but also out of a mission to subvert. To deliberately defy the immutable teachings of the church.

The Washington Nationals have fired a team official after undercover video captured him suggesting that pitcher Trevor Williams was excluded from promotional efforts after voicing his opposition to drag queens being promoted at a baseball game.

In an X post Friday, independent journalist James O'Keefe shared a pre-game interview of Washington Nationals President of Business Operations Jason Sinnarajah apologizing to fans and pitcher Trevor Williams after the release of undercover footage showing the team's Director of Community Relations Sean Hudson suggesting that the team shied away from promoting Williams on social media.

“We took action right away, and the individual is no longer employed by the team," Sinnarajah said. "I want to apologize to Trevor Williams who has been brought into this. We feel awful that he has been dragged into this."

"We're not anti-Catholic," Sinnarajah added as he pushed back on claims made in an undercover video released by O'Keefe last week showing Hudson describing Williams as "very Catholic" and noting his opposition to the Los Angeles Dodgers' decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of drag queens who sometimes dress as nuns.

A Canadian physician has been placed under supervision following concerns from medical regulators after he assessed a patient who applied for Medical Assistance in Dying at a coffee shop and failed to administer a neuromuscular-blocking medication to a second patient.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) placed Dr. James MacLean of Ontario under three months of moderate supervision followed by three months of low supervision because of concerns related to his conduct in two separate 2024 cases involving individuals seeking to hasten their deaths through physician-assisted suicide.

While the patients' names were not disclosed in public documents, The Globe and Mail reported last week that one patient was a 45-year-old man named Thomas Dillon who had Crohn's disease. Medical records also show that Dillon had a history of alcohol abuse, depression and suicidal ideation.

MacLean and a nurse practitioner determined that Dillon's Crohn's disease made him eligible for MAID.

Yea video games are quite addicting. I used to watch anime and Netflix but those habits fizzled out. It's difficult for me to sit and watch something. I need to be doing something. So it's easy for me to game for hours but in order to watch an hour episode I got to break it into pieces because I'm fed up after 20 minutes.

Don’t think I’ll take up farming unless it’s the Lord’s Will (the idea of handling cow manure up close is a little off putting lol) but one thing I am getting into a little bit is coding, as it’s all logic based and I’m a very logical person.

Praise the LORD indeed. I live in the Caribbean so plenty of opportunity for me to do so. It could honestly be anything, before I started farming I would just go on 1 hour walks which was also amazing. I like physical activity. I realize I have issues staying in one place. I suspect I have ADHD or ADD but never diagnosed it so who knows.

Certain habits take a while to break so don't beat yourself up too much. I also forget to mention that fasting helps to break strong holds. Peace to you and have a good day.

The “dogs” are the SHEPHERDS/pastors who have no understanding. They are blind. They are ignorant. They are shepherds/pastors who cannot understand the Scriptures because of their greed. They do not care for the flock that they are "pastoring" as the all look to their own way...everyone for his own gain.

They rejoice and expect more good things to come for them

Lazarus was carried by the “angels”….the messengers who are Moses and the prophets…into Abraham’s bosom away from the rich man. Christ interprets their words and we are to hear Him and believe. The beggar died off. The rich one also died off. There is no Greek word for "man" here. There is no rich "man"...only the word "rich" (singular) one. This is showing us that there is a reversal of fortunes that happen to both of them.

Luk 16:22
(22) And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich also died, and was buried;

The righteous “perish”…that is, wander away or lose oneself. Lazarus loses his life to save it.

The righteous are taken away from the evil. Lazarus only received evil things when he kept company with the rich man. There is no “to come” in the Hebrew. The KJV has "to come" but that is inserted.

Lazarus is taken away from the evil situation he was in and enters into peace…prosperity…happiness…all good things while the rich man goes from having good things to experiencing torment.

Isa 57:1-2
(1) The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil .

He shall enter into peace….into shalom: wellness, peace, prosperity, happiness. In Abraham’s bosom (inheriting the promises of Abraham) are all of the good things that he shall receive.

(2) He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

I'm getting stalled on the second volume of that Story of Christianity book. It's really dry and heavy, but I can't bring myself to read something else until it's done.

If you’ve read my last post then you may already know why I’m asking this.

Due to personal convictions over playing certain games, I may or may not lose my online friends who I have known for 5 years now and met when I was very much outside of Christ. If you want more information on my situation, read my last post, as I’m making this one for a different reason.

Essentially, if you are willing to share, I’d like to know how some of you lost your family, friends or loved ones due to convictions (or anything else as well). How did it happen? What was the reason? How did our amazing God help you through it and in what ways did He show up for you? And how are you fairing today?

I ask because, I will admit, I really don’t want to lose my friends. But I’d rather lose them and still have a relationship with God than rebel against my Creator for their sake. I’ve never lost a long friendship like this before as I’ve never really had any friends outside of them.

But I want to follow Jesus even when it hurts (especially then).

I don’t know if I will lose my friends or not, that I leave to the Lord. But in case it does, I’d like to hear from you (again, if you’re willing, no pressure) for some reassurance, encouragement and to just generally be prepared if that does happen.

Hi Levi,
I recently had an email from my daughter telling me she did not want anything to do with me. She was full of criticisms about her upbringing, having to go to Church with us, me putting her in a Christian School, and so on.
You can imagine how shocked I was, it coming out of the blue.
I could not get over the bitterness in her email.
How did I cope? I had my relationship with the Lord Jesus and found His grace sufficient in my time of need.

I think counselling is a great idea. I also was divorced and remarried. I think it important to not make the same mistakes again in your second marriage. Counselling can facilitate this. God bless you and I wish you every happiness.

Self Defense

This was Paul speaking. He was on his way to Jerusalem. And the Holy Spirit had testified to him that in every city chains and tribulations awaited him. So, as he spoke to the elders of the church in Ephesus here, he was also convinced that he would never see them again. And so these were his parting remarks to them, much like someone might say who was dying.

Now, all throughout Paul’s ministry on this earth he was persecuted, beaten, left for dead, imprisoned, rejected, lied about, falsely accused of wrong, and opposed strongly by his opposition. So, at times, he had to come to his own defense to tell the truth about himself, as opposed to the lies. Jesus Christ did this, too, sometimes, when he was opposed and lied about and falsely accused of wrongdoing. So, it is not wrong or prideful or bragging, necessarily, to state the truth about yourself in opposition to the lies.

Therefore, he declared himself innocent of the blood of all people. For he had not shunned to declare to the people the whole counsel of God. And what is that? It is the whole plan of our salvation from sin and eternal life with God. It is God’s revealed will and purpose concerning our salvation from sin. It is the pure and unadulterated gospel message regarding Jesus’ death and resurrection, and for what purpose he died and was raised from the dead to deliver us out of bondage to sin so we will now serve him with our lives.

The Gospel

Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

For God’s grace, which is bringing us salvation, is training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we wait for Jesus’ return. For Christ “gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (See Titus 2:11-14; Ephesians 2:8-10)

Take Heed

Then Paul gave counsel to the elders of the church in Ephesus. They were to take heed, as overseers, to shepherd the church of God which our Lord purchased with his own blood via his death on that cross in putting our sins to death with him so that we can now die to sin and live to righteousness. And to shepherd is to lead, to give counsel to, to teach, to instruct, but also to provide comfort, encouragement, and compassion towards the people without compromise of truth and righteousness, for the sake of godly living.

And why was Paul so concerned about the church? He knew that after his departure that savage wolves would come in among them, not sparing the flock. And he was speaking of “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” i.e. of human beings who would pretend to be Christians and followers of Christ and preachers of the gospel. But they would speak lies to the people to lead them in the wrong direction. And we have many of them in the gatherings of “the church” in our world today who are leading many people astray.

Also, he said, from among their own selves men would rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. And we have many such people in our gatherings of “the church” today who are speaking lies to the people, who are diluting the gospel to make it less offensive and more acceptable to human flesh, and who are leading many people to hell on the promise of heaven. Therefore, we do need to keep watch, and to test the spirits, and to reject the lies, and to embrace the truth of God’s Word.

A Case for Adultery...and Forgiveness (John 8:3-11)

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”6 They were using this question as a trap, to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”


Yeshua had come down from the Mt. of Olives and came to the Temple for teaching purposes. The Temple courts were popular for rabbis to take their students to teach them Torah. Yeshua was no different, and during his teaching, the Pharisees came and brought this woman who was caught in the act of adultery.

Yes, the Torah commandments were very specific, in that if a married woman (and the lover) were caught in the act of adultery, they were to be stoned. The problem is, where was the lover? Only the woman was brought before the Messiah. The witnesses were there, yet only the woman was brought as evidence. Again, where was the man involved?

Yeshua did something very interesting: he bent down and started writing in the dust of the ground. Many might ask, "What was he writing?" The question might be answered in Jeremiah 17:13.

Hope of Isra’el, Adonai! All who abandon you will be ashamed; those who leave you will be inscribed in the dust,
because they have abandoned Adonai, the source of living water.

Could it be that he was writing the names of the woman's accusers in the dust of the Earth? Very possible. Can we be 100% sure? No, I wasn't there looking over the Messiah's shoulders. But it is possible that Yeshua was indeed illustrating Jeremiah 17:13. Here in the Temple courtyard, he points out that ALL were guilty of sin. (For all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God). Yes, the only one there who had the right to judge and condemn the woman and stone her decided to grant her mercy.

The woman realizes that those Pharisees who were standing against her all left. The accusers are gone. She is left with God and with God alone.

"I do not condemn you, go and sin no more" were the words of a righteous and holy God. The God who had the right to condemn decided to extend mercy, yet he told her, "Go and sin no more." There was forgiveness, but it also required repentance (Teshuvah), which means, "turn around with a change of mind and heart."

Today in this busy world of commerce, sports, activity, making money, this and that, we tend to forget about God and come to worship and study His Word. Would this be a form of adultery or idolatry? If you think about it, we exchange the worship of a righteous and Holy God for worship of things, pleasure, money, etc. Yet, our Holy and righteous God extends his mercy and beckons us to come back to him, and to give him his rightful place in our lives.

Everything we have in our lives belongs to Him; all possessions are HIS, and we have them only for a short time. Just as He has given us THINGS, He can also take them away. A woman who cheated on her husband could end up losing him through the act of divorce. The man who cheats on his wife could also lose that "love of his life" the same way. Israel had abandoned their only true God and went after idols for many years; the Prophets were sent to warn God's people, but to no avail. Jerusalem ended up in Babylon for 70 years, and the city burned. Yet YHVH never stopped loving his people; he had to discipline them, as a loving father does, and as a husband practices "tough love".

We are the bride of Messiah Yeshua/Jesus. Let us be faithful to the bridegroom, giving the bridegroom the first place in our lives, in worship, coming together on the days of worship, studying His Word, and using our spiritual gifts for the Kingdom. We want our names to be inscribed in the Book of Life, not in the dust of the Earth

Applying my conscience to the Lord’s commandments has helped me to understand living daily life by faith. What I mean is that the Lord tells us to love God & neighbor using our faculties ( Matthew 22:36-40) & treating others as we would want to be treated ( Matthew 7:12 “the golden rule” but also read Matthew 7:1-12 for the full picture).

Jesus told a rich young man basic commandments for right living in Matthew 19:16-19 but the young man seemed confused ( see Matthew 19:16-31 for the whole picture). The Lord was basically telling him to stick to the program. Paul spells much of this out in Romans 13:1-14 in the practice of good citizenship ( & compare verses 8-10 to what the Lord told the young man).


The basic ways the Lord wants us to apply these is through charity and prayer (see Matthew 6:1-14). It’s where your heart is on this as the commandments indicate it’s not a contest or anything. The Lord says if we apply what He tells us it will flow with our conscience ( John 14:15-18). There is a lot more there but what I believe what I am saying is a necessary understanding and early step.

God so loved us & wants us to love Him back & those around us in attitude and in deeds ( see John 3:16-21). I would also read Colossians 1:1-29, verses 10-24 in particular.

Believe me I got attitude issues so I don’t want to come across as a phony saint. I know by grace we are saved & I sure need that ( Ephesians 2:8-10). But for me salvation truly involves hoping for others to be saved also via the golden rule, love of God & neighbor etc. i should at least join in prayer for evangelism, evangelists, & salvation of my neighbors’ souls ( Matthew 9:36-38).

There is a truth in this also - that our sins put Jesus on the Cross. We are all complicate.

Anti Christian sentiment among Orthodox Jews is strong, but there are also more Jewish believers in Yeshua as the Messiah than in the previous 1900 years since .. a lot of positive stuff is happening - internet plays a big role in that. Information from any side is available to anyone interested.

Modern anti-Christian sentiment among Jews in general has to be understood against the back-drop of antisemitism and persecution of Jews in (Christian) Europe during 2 millennia (e.g. the Spanish expulsion, the strong antisemitic remarks by Marten Luther towards the end of his life, the WW2 era holocaust, etc.).

In Israel itself nowadays these two extremes co-exist - yet the political echelon is very much aware support for Jews worldwide now mainly comes from Christians.

The holocaust provided 'understanding' by the (then) Christian West Jews worldwide needed a homeland - and promises had been made before that regarding the area known as 'Palestine' during British rule.

With the Iranian/Yemenite/Gazan/Hezbollah wars the tide is turning again - sadly enough many in Western Europe now openly state the birth of the new state of Israel as a homeland for Jews was a mistake and Jews worldwide have no historical claim to that area. Not coincidentally most of these would also deny Yeshua as the King of the Jews who will return to Earth on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.

Thank you both for your replies! I'm praying for patience and I plan to persist in my prayers. I sometimes slip into trying to please God with my own effort rather than having faith in Him to deliver me by grace. Praying for that grace while confessing my lack of patience is definitely step one.

Referring to scripture is a great idea that I often underrate. I already "know" the promises, but reading and meditating on the Word is such a powerful boost.
