  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump Victory: Right-Wing MEPs Jubilant, Leftist MEPs Hysterical

Right or left, it seems that politicians from all various national or political backgrounds would like to see the EU to become an independent superpower - both economically and militarily.

Which may provide some relief for the US short term, but become a headache in the long term.

Vatican meeting highlights ‘common good’ as key objective to reform global financial order

The Pontifical Academy for Life discussed the global financial system in light of the social doctrine of the Catholic Church and crises that have impacted the world at a meeting titled “Common Good: Theory and Practice” on Thursday evening in Vatican City.

The event, opened by Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, welcomed and introduced guest panelists Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley and Mariana Mazzucato, professor of economics of innovation and public value at University College London.

The participants gathered to discuss the multifaceted and interconnected impacts of war, technology, health crises, and the environment on politics and the global economy.

Democrats have an enormous dilemma if Kamala Harris loses

According to exit polls, Trump made massive gains with Blacks, Hispanics, and young voters. Trump also made gains among women. He is the first Republican to win the popular vote since 2004. This is all despite the desperate negative press that has been showered on him.

This was not hard to predict. Progressives must recognize that they have been lied to and manipulated to believe that Trump is anti-Black, anti-Hispanic, etc. Given the reality of these outcomes, progressives should be desirous to deprogram themselves.

Don't forget the Arabs (though I don't see the majority as permanent America first adds) but I am still happy they joined us.

OT usages of 'bone and flesh'

Gen 2:

23 The man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Eve was Adam's wife.

Gen 29:

14 Laban said to him, “Surely you are my bone and my flesh!” And he stayed with him a month.
Laban was Jacob's uncle through Rebekah (Ge 29:13). They were close biological relatives.

Judges 9:

1 Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem to his mother’s relatives and said to them and to the whole clan of his mother’s family, 2 - “Say in the ears of all the leaders of Shechem, ‘Which is better for you, that all seventy of the sons of Jerubbaal rule over you, or that one rule over you?’ Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.”
Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem were biological relatives, likely his uncles.

2S 5:

1 All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh.
All the tribes wanted to emphasize that they were descendants of Jacob.

The parallel account in 1Ch 11:

1 All Israel gathered together to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh.
2S 19:

11 King David sent this message to Zadok and Abiathar the priests: “Say to the elders of Judah, ‘Why should you be the last to bring the king back to his house, when the word of all Israel has come to the king? 12 You are my brothers; you are my bone and my flesh. Why then should you be the last to bring back the king?’
They were all descendants of Judah.

13 And say to Amasa, ‘Are you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me and more also, if you are not commander of my army from now on in place of Joab.’”
Amasa was David's nephew, being the son of Abigail, David's sister (2S 17:25).

12 - You are my brothers; you are my bone and my flesh. Why then should you be the last to bring back the king?’
David told the elders of Judah they were closer relatives than the other tribes.

The ancient Hebrew idiom of 'bone and flesh' was similar to today's English idiom of 'flesh and blood', indicating blood relatives.

Pornstar Confessions of Spiritual Brokenness

I've seen stuff like this before. You have these young women who have medical histories five inches thick---bruising, anal tears, vaginal tears, infections, STD's, substance abuse, you name it. And a lot of them, if they don't overdose on drugs or drink themselves to death, end up committing suicide, due to the way they're treated by their "managers", or by the "actors" who knock them around, or simply by the despair of their situations or the realization of what their lives have turned into.
That's the real sad thing, when you see news about someone in that industry having died and you just think "given what they were in the middle of there seems to be so little chance that they were in a state of sanctifying grace at the end..." which is so sad.

I remember years ago news about a male pornstar who died from a supposed snakebite (it was actually alcohol poisoning, though he was also bitten by a rattlesnake), and actually just recently a woman who was a longtime industry stalwart died from a drug overdose in her apartment with her husband...these people were still neck deep in the industry at the time of their deaths so the possibility that they repented, sought the Catholic faith and turned their lives around is so slim. It's there, but slim, and it's just sad to think of the eternity they traded for in exchange for a few years of what they were doing.

Some of them---a very, very few, find their way out of the "industry" and become believing Christians; or, more likely, they become "self-improvement" types or health-food advocates, or something of that nature, which, I suspect, is probably a subconscious attempt to cleanse their bodies of the filth they have wallowed in for so many years.
It's interesting how many of them dive deep into the faith if and when they're liberated from the industry. I mean, maybe there are a lot more who leave the industry and go unnoticed because they don't find faith, but there seems to be a fair amount who do and then they do what they can to fight back and help save others from such a tragic lifestyle.

Hope on an Indonesian island

Kandi, our sister in Christ was one of the many victims of a terrorist attack on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, she lost her husband and her father in 2020.

Since then open doors partners visited her- she now has remarried and has a brand new home thanks to donations and prayers!

The community now has a new church and as a great sign of Christian love and community spirit, neighbours are sharing electricity with each other until infrastructure issues are sorted.

I don't know about you, but I think that is a great testament to what our prayers and donations can do for our brothers and sisters in Christ!

Is some part of the Bible more important than some other parts?

Yes, 1Co 15:

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures
Mt 22:

37 Jesus declared, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
However, all parts of the Bible are important. 2Tm 3:

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
Different parts of the Bible carry different kinds of importance with respect to

  1. teaching
  2. reproof
  3. correction
  4. training in righteousness
  5. etc.
Different passages belong to different genres, carrying different purposes. E.g., 1Ch 1-9 contains mostly names of genealogies. With respect to practically training our sanctification today, it is not that important or relevant. However, by tracing the lineage from Adam to David and beyond, the passage highlighted the continuity of God's redemptive plan and special covenant with the Jews.

Is some part of the Bible more important than some other parts?

While all parts of the Bible are inspired and valuable, certain passages are regarded as more central or significant in terms of theological themes, Jesus' teachings, and the overall narrative of salvation. Understanding the Bible requires a nuanced approach that considers context, genre, and the principles of progressive revelation while recognizing the importance of the entirety of Scripture in shaping faith and practice.

has anyone followed he's teachings, and ia was interested to ask what does it mean, if one listens warwafe prayer on generational/bloodline curses etc and start feeling oppression after, and next day that I didn't have before, this was also true with some other people who confirmed in comment section on YouTube, and today I talk other girls who also mentioned same thing, is that what? It seems also that the more I seek about gen curses etc, the more bondage it brings, and when I go back to cross, and understand the truth/freedom/identity iam free as it goes away this oppression, so can anybody explain what that is, is then that gen curses is false teaching, there used to be debate, but when I actually do these prayers, seek deliverance and feel more opressed where I started off, that is kind of strange

Now That Trump Won, Catholic Bishops Have a Choice

Trump’s win puts Catholic bishops in a rather difficult position.

America’s Catholic bishops don’t usually enjoy being political commentators. It’s not in their job description. When they do choose to comment on some policy, some less-than-religious political analyst at the New York Times usually writes an op-ed fretting about the fraying separation of church and state. Even if that doesn’t happen, the intersection of ecclesial and political authority quickly becomes a touchy business. Just ask the Middle Ages.

So, while America’s Catholic bishops are probably enjoying discussing the election around morning conference coffees and evening socials during their second annual plenary meeting in Baltimore this week, public comments to the press have been somewhat limited.

There are already several rather important issues on the agenda. There’s a new Bible translation they need to approve for use during the celebration of the mass; the conference is planning on having a discussion on opening causes for beatification in Rome for two holy women; and there are a couple of appointments that also need to be made; not to mention a Eucharistic revival to expand.

That all said, whether it’s on the official agenda or not, a response to the election is going to be a consideration — especially after what happened on Inauguration Day four years ago.

Democratic leader no longer wants to abolish filibuster despite comparing it to 'Jim Crow'

When in the minority, parties support the filibuster rule, but they seek to abolish it when in the majority. Typical politics.

It is surprising that in this polarized political environment, both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate are committed to maintaining this rule.

Politician on trial for sharing Bible verse, Christian views refuses to back down

Important facts:

1. The Finnish constitution protects one's religious freedoms. The court already acquitted Räsänen of the charges, ruling that her statements did not meet the threshold for incitement to hatred as defined by Finnish law. The court acknowledged that Räsänen's statements were controversial and could be offensive to some, but concluded that they did not constitute a criminal offense.

The court also emphasized the importance of protecting freedom of speech and religious expression, and stated that Räsänen's comments were made in the context of a public debate on the role of religion in society. Furthermore, the court ruled that, although her views might be outdated or offensive to some, they were not intentionally aimed at inciting hatred or violence.

2. In 2023, Finland's Prosecutor General announced that they would appeal the ruling, and the case was brought to the Finnish Court of Appeal. The legal process is still ongoing as of 2024.

After the appeal, it will be a useful precedence for the future. The clash between religious freedoms and the freedom of speech and the protection of the LGBT and similar groups (extremely strong in Scandinavia) needs to be sorted out. It basically had to be done at least once, to figure it out legally, because the situation is something new and emotions are intense on both sides. Its not a coincidence that she is a politician - a public figure.

A theologian’s pioneering letter to JD Vance

Dear Vice President-elect Vance,

I address you rather than President-elect Trump because you and I share a common faith. Like you, I am a convert to Catholicism and try to form my moral (and thus political) commitments according to the entire teaching of the Church. This includes moral matters that admit of no exceptions, as well as those that are open to prudential judgment. This comes through a careful application of what are sometimes called the “four pillars” of Catholic Social Doctrine: The equal dignity of every person, subsidiarity, solidarity and a commitment to act according to the common good. Considering our common commitment to the Catholic faith and the principles that follow from it, I hope that your administration will consider the following admonitions and suggestions in a spirit of charity and practical reason.

FBI arrests ISIS supporter who desired to carry out a 9/11-style attack in US

The FBI has arrested an Islamic State supporter who has reportedly expressed a desire to carry out a 9/11-style attack on United States soil.

As indicated in a statement published by the U.S. Department of Justice Thursday, 28-year-old Anas Said faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 if convicted of providing material support to the Islamic State terrorist organization, also known as IS, ISIS or ISIL.

In a memorandum Tuesday, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas Alamdar Hamdani outlined why Said should remain in detention while he awaits trial.

Scripture-engaged adults have lower levels of loneliness than Bible disengaged: study

Americans with stronger spiritual lives and those who more commonly offer forgiveness experience less loneliness than those who are less engaged with the Bible or churches and those who don't commonly forgive others, a new survey suggests.

The American Bible Society released the eighth chapter of its "State of the Bible USA 2024" report Thursday, focusing on "Loneliness."

The research, based on 2,506 responses collected from American adults from Jan. 4-23, 2024, examined the relationship between a respondent's levels of religiosity and how frequently they experience loneliness. The margin of error for the sample is ±2.73 percentage points.

Teacher verbally attacks student for MAGA hat, calls Trump supporters 'fake Christians'

School board president says 'we need to pray' for teachers unions

School officials in Southern California are investigating an incident involving a high school teacher who lashed out at a student for wearing a MAGA hat and referred to Christians as a "bunch of losers" in a video that emerged in the days after former President Donald Trump was elected to a second term.

Video of the rant initially went viral Sunday. A male teacher, later identified as Chino Valley High School English teacher and girls' golf coach Clyde Colinco, is heard harassing a student for wearing a Trump hat before demanding he leave the classroom.

The teacher is heard saying, "A child molester, huh? Vote for that freaking rapist. I have a daughter, three nieces, and he'd rape them, and people are voting for him. Christians are voting for him, bunch of losers. Fake Christians."

I think this is telling that Christianity is mentioned as the aim of attacks. I reaslly think underneath all the differences its really a battle between progressive ideology and Christianity.

Thats why some progressives go straight to Christainity and not upbringing, mental illness, individual bad behaviour or environment like they do in for the oppressed minorities.

Its really about progressives being their own gods and not being told what to do or have any restrictions on behaviour especially from a moral truth or Lawgiver such as God. The true aim of their hate is God.
