The Thomas More Society, a religious liberty-focused legal organization, announced it settled with the Pennsylvania Department of Education last week. The agency agreed to rescind its "Culturally-Relevant and Sustaining Education Program Framework Guidelines," first implemented in November 2022. The standards in question became the subject of litigation in April 2023.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., reportedly met last week in closed-door meetings with Democratic candidates who blamed the party's losses in part on effective GOP ads that took advantage of the swell of voter antipathy toward transgender ideology.

Transgender issues played a pivotal role in Democratic electoral losses in 2024, especially in key Senate races that saw Democrats lose both Sens. Jon Tester, D-Mont., and Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, which left them without a senator in a red state, according to Axios.

I would agree ... quite honestly if you look at many of Trumps cabinet picks they are people that have been through situations whereas they have been unfairly mistreated .... his picks are not for the purpose of retaliation (must protect against this) but rather to put things in place so the mistreatment is curtailed and no better person to do this then one that has experienced it themselves.

And yes ... I think Kari Lake would do well in that position as well as Lara Trump (or both) in consideration as well.

Jonathan Lunine, a convert to the Catholic faith and the chief scientist for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, spoke to roughly 100 Catholic scientists about the subject at an event in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Nov. 15.

The lecture followed a Gold Mass, celebrated for Catholic scientists, at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. A Gold Mass is held on the feast of St. Albertus Magnus — a Dominican friar, medieval scientist, patron saint of scientists, and mentor to St. Thomas Aquinas.

Ninety-eight trucks carrying food aid for Palestinians have been violently looted after crossing into Gaza, according to the United Nations. The convoy, which was delivering provisions provided by the U.N. Relief and Works Agency and the World Food Programme, was attacked shortly after entering the enclave, resulting in injuries to some of the drivers.

The convoy was instructed to leave from the Kerem Shalom border crossing on short notice, taking an unfamiliar route, Louise Wateridge, UNRWA Senior Emergency Officer, told Reuters.

The looting, which occurred on Saturday, affected 98 out of 109 trucks in the convoy, marking one of the most severe losses of food aid during the 13-month war. “This ... highlights the severity of access challenges of bringing aid into southern and central Gaza,” Wateridge said amid ongoing military escalations that have continued since the Hamas attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

There is often only occupation with Christ for the relief of the conscience, and if so, where does it stop? It stops when the relief is met. But if He is the Object of the heart, you will never be satisfied but in association and fellowship with Him where He is. If there is simple occupation with Christ, you cannot enjoy it but in association with Him where He is, and in communion with Him about things here. In Psalm 23, there is lying down first, and then I come forth refreshed for the responsibilities of life here, and to walk in “the paths of righteousness.” I “fear no evil.”

I must first know Him where He is; if I do not know Him where He is, I shall not rest in Him for my life down here. True, He accomplished everything down here, but you never get satisfied rest in your soul until you know that the Father has glorified Him up there. You never find a truly restful soul who does not raise the question—where is He? Mary Magdalene says, “They have taken my Lord” (Jhn 20:13). The two disciples in John 1 asked, “Where dwellest thou” (Jhn 1:38). The heart is set on the discovery of where He is. It is vain for a man to tell me his heart is on a person, if he is indifferent as to where that person is. “If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth” (Col 3:1).

I stand on simple grace. I am entitled to nothing, but I count on what is in my Father’s heart for me. When I come to discover what is in that heart for me, that is grace. It is an unspeakable comfort to my heart to say I know He will do something, though what He will do I know not. I would not venture to dictate to Him what He should do, but I know my Father’s heart.

The Lord says to me, if you come to Me, you will find My Word working in you to remove the shade of reserve that has come between you and Me; the first great desire of My heart is that there shall be nothing between you and Me. I will make it My business that there shall be no break in our intimacy (there’s never a time when we are not “forgiven”—NC). He wiped the disciple’s feet after He had washed them; the towel is to give the soul the sense that there is nothing between, nothing of defilement left.

The moment I begin to walk in His path (1Jo 2:6 – concerned only of the Father’s will—NC), I find out all my contrarieties. For the right road there are ninety-nine roads wrong, and the heart is ever inclined to go up one of those roads. When it does, the Lord says, I will send My Word after you and draw you out of it. The washing of my feet sets me free from the wrong road, and, the moment I get on the right one, I have the confirmed sense from the Lord Himself—I am with you, I bear you company.

If I am not aware that the Lord sympathizes with me, that He is looking after my concerns, I cannot turn around and think of His affairs. But if I have the sympathy of the Lord Jesus I shall not be worried (John 14:1, 27), I know that He is thinking about me and my affairs, and I leave them all to Him (Mat 11:28).

The above quote is powerful, but living out in my own life is challenging. The main reason is that I am not mature in the virtue of humility. Total confidence in God is not something that can be achieved without deep reflection, and a willingness not to listen to my inner voices that have been with me my whole life. They manifest themselves in my moods, anxious concerns, etc. Fear of what others think of me is something that I have been working on my whole life, yet the struggle continues. It is not a matter of simply choosing, but the continued practice of not believing all that I find myself expressing to myself.

To embrace the idea that I am worthy, and the beloved of God is also difficult for me. So, I often make an act of faith even though the emotional rejection of such a thought is still there. It is the goad that keeps me seeking deeper inner freedom. The road to inner freedom is a struggle against the often-unrecognized self-hatred that dwells in my soul.

Love of self is essential, we are commanded to love ourselves for a good reason, there is much that we find in ourselves as we mature in our walk of faith that challenges us to deepen our faith in the love and acceptance of God.

Jesus came to save us from ourselves, not from God. God is not the problem, we are. It is a long road to inner freedom that grows everyday when we understand that our negative, hateful, and angry thoughts and emotions come from a place of immaturity and pain. Being rooted in Jesus in God’s love allows us to see ourselves and still open up our hearts to the only source that can heal us at our soul level.

All human beings are the beloved of God, Jesus identifies with those we consider the least, and it is there that we find the Lord and healing. For in the least, we truly see ourselves, the self that we hate.-Br.MD
