  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

After losing one of our presbytery to cancer we may lose another. Please pray.

Worst case scenario, as your church does not have a Eucharist, you can just stream church from TV and not have to drive at all. For Catholics, we can stream also, but there is more of an obligation of going physically to church.

He doesn't livestream his services. I'm not sure he knows how. He would have the money to get the equipment to do so I just think he is too low tech to figure out how to do so and nobody would probably watch anyway if he did livestream. We're a very small congregation but he does print all of his sermons every week for all congregants to read every Sunday and the sermons that we miss he has his treasurer mail to us so that we dont technically miss a sermon even if we are not physically present.

Our church generally has communion the first Sunday of every month and my wife generally tries to get that Sunday off. Walmart has an app for their employees where they can apply for time off and a team lead looks over the requests and either approves them or denies them and then a computer will do out their schedule for that week about 2-3 weeks in advance. My wife tries to put in the first Sunday of every week into the app so that we can at least get to church for communion since it is very important. If we can't get the first Sunday off for whatever reason we still try to attend at least once a month and our Elder appreciates us coming each time we can attend because he knows that my wife has a very tight work schedule and especially now that she's working full time.

He would disagree that being in church online would be basically the same thing or else he wouldn't have concerns about our attendance because like I said, we receive paper copies of his sermons every week in the mail. But he's big on fellowship and worshipping as a congregation. Oftentimes he encourages us all to worship together and basically be one big happy family.

I sometimes find it annoying but he also has a really big point I have to admit.

What is the Church’s position on cremation?

I‘ve considered cremation but think I’ll have a traditional burial. Just maybe a closed casket so I dont have people looking at me, making comments.
I’ll probably do open casket with embalming.

Cremation is too violent for me.

The importance of the Holy Spirit in prayer and in the Christian life.

"Replacement" and Attitude: In AVIATION attitude is the plane's position in relation to the horizon/the ground.
So if Your plane has the wrong attitude your heading for a crash and probably death.

And if one is a "devout disciple" then one is devoted to being in harmony with the Master. To do that one has to study and conform our thoughts and actions with what the Master is teaching. So if we study a book that does not correctly present the Master's Way, we get lost
If the Master's words have been sabotaged, your attitude is sabotaged and you are on a crash course.

And Christ's Words and Intent has been altered. So false words and logic have to replaced with correct Words/Logic. Until the Sabotage of the Edomite Jews is removed from our mind, habits and actions, we are still on a crash course.

The Edomite Jews and their converts have been working on wrecking Your Spiritual relation with YahShua. He can't save You if your mind is full of Edomite mentality.

Different churches one Lord

It seems most christians who are not orthodox or catholic mostly those against the orthodox and catholic believers don’t give Mary the mother of Jesus the honor she deserves. The bible says all generations will call me blessed whether they choose christ to be saved which is part of honoring her truly or forced to in hell or just to say in all generations there will be people who honor her.But that is not supposed to be the case. To give honor pleases christ though bible says there is only one mediator if one wilfully dishonors not just an opinion may have lack of reward it still pleases christ to honor her who sacrificed alot.

One does not need an intercession to be saved but I think it helps as she is close to Jesus just to help to give assurance you are on the way to have peace. That verse there is only one mediator does not mean others can not help you as even we believe we benefit from others prayers on earth but that christ is sufficient to save but may not have extra blessing of others help just to help support you following the right way.

We can derive from the bible alone Mary was probably a virgin all her life since when angel said she will have a son she said how can this be meaning she did not plan to have a marriage where you have children. You can not know for sure from bible alone but you can choose to accept incase. But being a virgin alone does not make one more holy except for the reason that it shows she was seeking to be content with christ only to magnify Him.The orthodox and catholic church is not the source of the belief but they lived in time or close to time of Jesus that it would have been spread by word of mouth but God only had churches record it so that it is never a point of contention that others have to believe it or be lost if others also doubt those others not from orthodox or catholic church who support it but wanted honor freely given.

The supernatural is an integral part of authentic Catholic life

The supernatural is real.

We all know it. We all know that there are “things visible and invisible,” and we’ve all experienced moments where the veil between the two has thinned-out and surprised us — through our dreams, our guts or our physical, peripheral senses — with information we need, consolations that feed or warnings we’re smart to heed.

Like Hamlet, we all know there are “more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of” in our philosophies. We all go out in search of connecting with that thing — that force, that power, that energy, that “thing” — that exists beyond our perceived-as-natural world.

The search for the supernatural

Vatican talks to China in continued Russia-Ukraine peace efforts

Vatican peace envoy Cardinal Matteo Zuppi spoke this week with a Chinese government official about the Russia-Ukraine war.

The phone conversation was the most recent step in the Vatican’s continued diplomatic efforts to promote lasting peace in the region.

Zuppi’s Aug. 14 phone call with Li Hui, China’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, followed a meeting between the two in Beijing in September 2023, one of several diplomatic visits the papal delegate has taken to advance peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Walz fact checked - failed

Walz’s false claim that Vance never voted for any pro-worker bills

Still, we identified at least two pro-worker bills that Vance voted for, which by Walz’s definition would at least be a stopped clock.
  • Railway Safety Act. Vance is a co-sponsor of the bill, intended to respond to the 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, and he voted for it in December when it was approved by the Senate Commerce Committee. The bill, which would impose new safety requirements and enhance fines, has not yet come to a floor vote yet because of a filibuster threat. Rail unions have held rallies calling for it to be passed, and it has won the support of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers’ Transportation Division, the Transport Workers Union of America, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, the American Train Dispatchers Association, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, the United States Conference of Mayors, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and the International Association of Machinists.
  • Radiation Exposure Compensation Reauthorization Act. Vance was one of 20 Republicans to vote for this bill, which passed the Senate in March by a vote of 69-30. The bill, which had the support of uranium miners, would have extended the period for filing claims under the 1990 Radiation Exposure Compensation Act, improved compensation for workers involved in uranium mining, and added parts of Arizona, Utah and Nevada to the program. The House did not act, though, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) citing the expense and lack of Republican support. The old law lapsed in June, though Democrats promise to revive it next year
Speaking to a union audience, Walz swung too hard for the fences. He claimed that Vance has not voted for any “pro-worker bills,” and his source was a union report card that covered only two bills in one year. As we have documented, Vance has voted for at least two bills that helped workers and had union support. On top of that, claiming that Vance knows nothing about working people, when that’s the subject of his book, is also false.
Walz earns Four Pinocchios.

Trump’s Hair-Raising Helicopter Ride That Wasn’t

NYT speculates that Trump is confusing Willy Brown with former CA governor Jerry Brown, with whom he once did share a helicopter ride (along with Gavin Newsom, the ex of DJT’s future DIL).

Problem is, that flight didn’t have any problems and they never talked about Harris.

Now that NYT picked apart Trump’s story, he’s threatening to sue.

...a ride with Jerry Brown seems more likely.

...and as Willie Brown noted:
Mr. Brown, who loves regaling anybody who will listen with stories and who penned a weekly column in The San Francisco Chronicle until 2021, added, laughing: “You know me well enough to know that if I almost went down in a helicopter with anybody, you would have heard about it!”

To Sing a New Song

To sing a new song, a song in my heart,
A song that’s of joy, to never depart,
To sing it out loud where people can hear,
To sing now with courage and never with fear,

To sing in the morning and even at night,
To sing of salvation, of Jesus, the Light,
To tell of His wonders, His miracles, too,
To tell of His grace and His mercy for you,

To tell how He died that horrible death,
To tell how He breathed then His very last breath,
To tell then of how He rose from the grave,
In order that our souls He would now save,

To tell of our need to die now to sin,
So we can live with Him forever in heaven,
To tell we must walk in His righteousness,
To tell how obedience gives us sweet rest,

To tell this with joy, with love in my heart,
That you would believe in Him, never depart,
That you would submit to Him, Jesus your Lord,
That you would now walk with Him, in one accord,

Brings joy to my heart, such peace satisfies,
Assurance of faith, and never in lies,
To know that you, too, are walking with Him,
And that you’re no longer walking in sin.

An Original Work / March 19, 2023
Amen to this. I like your poem, and this is why I sometimes sing Christian songs (such as Chris Tomlin, other Christian artists, and Catholic hymns), in order to worship God and honor His Son who died and rose again for us.

Vatican loosens stance on food, water for patients in vegetative state

After the Pontifical Academy for Life (PAFL) last month issued a booklet summarizing the Church’s teaching on a number of bioethical issues, the section on “artificial nutrition and hydration” (ANH) has some observers concerned about what they see as a departure from previous Church teaching.

The Pontifical Academy for Life was founded in 1994 by St. John Paul II to study and provide formation on bioethical issues for the promotion and defense of life. Published only in Italian on July 2, the PAFL’s new booklet says it has “the aim of clearing up confusion” about the Church’s teaching on a number of bioethical issues.

In the English-speaking world, however, the booklet has garnered scrutiny for appearing to soften the Church’s stance on the importance of providing food and water to patients in a vegetative state.

The Church’s teaching on this issue was recently in the news in the United States because of the ongoing case of Margo Naranjo, a disabled Texas woman whose parents, who are Catholic, announced last month that they had decided to allow Margo to die by starvation in hospice. They were prevented from doing so after a judge intervened.

What has the Church taught about withdrawing food and water?

Everyone which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life (age-lasting life)...

The just shall live (have an age-lasting life) by faith. They will not perish mortally from this earth but shall continue to live in this earth and not be removed from it.
This sounds like you are claiming that there is no resurrection of the dead? That there is no new heaven and earth? That we will not be changed from corruptible to incorruption? Opposite from scripture.
Please clarify. Thanks!

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Does Science have the ability to destroy the world?

View attachment 353332

The planet killer from Star Trek episode: The Doomsday Machine.

They managed to make it look scary. In those times, it is scary.

Another idea I have to destroy planets or even stars - if it is possible to completely block gravity. Scientists will tell you this is outright impossible because gravity is a property of space-time and inextricably linked to it. However, I have doubts on the sentiment because gravity waves don't travel at infinite speed but still limited by the speed of light.

But if it is possible, you're not just blocking the Earth's gravity but the gravity of the entire universe or approximately "half" of it. but even just a half a universe, if you managed to get yourself to the very edge of the Universe, the gravity you'll be subjected to would be equivalent to the Event Horizon of a black hole.

But by completely blocking gravity, you have replicated the conditions at the very edge of the universe. It may be the key to "folding" space-time. Traversing vast distances in an instant.

Ironically, the technology may also trigger the collapse of a planet or even a star into a black hole or cause something with a smaller mass like a moon or a portion of the planet to explode with the yield of an anti-matter bomb.

I believe the tech exists in Star Trek with the shield tech. They do have a much of tech in there the writers have "failed" to exploit but not entirely. At least the "Q" entities know how to use the deflector dish to fold space-time. But never demonstrated its utility as a planet or even star-killing weapon.

Stuff in Star Trek have tendency to become reality. It will become a real problem if some nation invents the warp drive first and realizes its planet-killing potential - or tactically, wiping out whole fleets of ships or armies with a simple beam without radioactivity nor toxic after-effects. The perfect weapon of mass destruction.

Yahshua's disciples followed Him. If one wishes to "follow Him" that person needs to accurately know what He taught, as in Hear His Voice, Recognize His Voice, Comprehend His Voice, and Obey His Voice.
That's not what Jesus says. Read the instructions and learn.

Question about fighting in marriage

Unfortunately all the sources I read stats healthy marriages have arguments or disagreements, and ones that don’t often end in divorce and I don’t want that.

What’s your perspectives everyone?

I dont like the idea of arguing with my beloved wife, but if my marriage in the future is to be healthy,do I have to have disagreements?
It's a fact of relationships, especially with the opposite sex.

The only ways to avoid disagreements is either you're going to agree with EVERYTHING your wife wants to do even if you hate it and even if it conflicts with your schedules.

That's unrealistic unless you don't have a mind of your own and prefers to have others decide or think everything for you which is not a healthy way to live. That's a sure way to kill neurons in your brain and devolve into something like a domesticated animal.

The other way to avoid disagreements is you ignore her, stop communicating altogether but this is far worse than the previous option.

Exactly,I have told myself I wouldn’t dare ever raise my voice at my wife for any reason no matter how upset or angry I may be.I would never want to hurt her or make her cry.

I’m just extremely sensitive to upsetting my wife in the future.
In theory.

Under all circumstances? Impossible.

Everyone has a breaking point where they lose their cool. We all have our "trigger factors".

You need to be able to deal with the guaranteed fact, we will all make mistakes in relationships, no one is perfect. You could even unintentionally repeat the mistakes your father did.

If you're unable to deal with your own mistakes in relationships, the big ones can traumatize you for life. If making mistakes scares you, then you may not be ready for relationships yet.

I'm not saying making mistakes is ok, especially the big ones. It's still utterly important to avoid making the big mistakes but if you do, you must be able to deal with it in a healthy manner because it's just a fact of life, it's unavoidable.

The way it works

Is there any good reason to reject your analogy when applied to human beings?
We have our own "computer programming," I suppose. But we were made in God's image, as opposed to beasts, who were not. They are God's handiwork, but we are God's "children."

For this reason God made Mankind superior to, or in a position to rule over, the animal world. It is to show God's superiority over everything, and our call to express this in the way we live.

The animals show no consciousness of God's Word, and therefore do not respond to it in terms of obedience. But they are programmed to respond to human influence, and can be either domesticated or tainted by negative factors.

God had animals killed when they developed bad behaviors. It may not be their fault, but by necessity they have to be put down.

On the other hand, humans can respond to correction, and often do not need to be "put down" by God or by our criminal justice system. Whether or not it is necessary is a matter for enlightened judgment.

The VIRGIN will conceive and give birth to a son

New International Version Isaiah 7:

The word is almah (H5959 עַלְמָה). It appears 7 times. H5959 is ambiguous.

New American Bible:

On Biblehub, 39 versions use virgin. Only 3 use young woman. 6 commentaries agree with virgin: Barnes, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, Pulpit, Matthew Poole, Keil and Delitzsch, Gill. Only 2 agree with young woman: Ellicott, Cambridge.

LXX expressed their opinion by translating H5959 to παρθένος (G3933-virgin).

BDAG παρθένος:

If you want to stick to the literal translation, "young woman" is better.

If you want to interpret a little, use "virgin".
I made a devotional on this verse and others, and how these verses predicted Jesus.

Jesus predicted in the OT:

"Down Ballot" Republicans are Losing Support, Under Trump's Republican Party

The article makes a few points...

-- Donald Trump cannot stay on topic, in his campaign speeches
-- Under Biden, the Republicans really didn't have a coherent policy
(I suppose, other than trying to stop all legislation from being passed)
and it was the Democrats who lead the coalition in Washington to
propose legislation
-- Trump's lack of policy, means that other Republican candidates
who will be on the ballot this year, ALSO do not have a clear idea about
what the policy of the Republican Party will be.

Basically, the journalist thinks that Trump's inability to clearly talk about
his proposed policies, means that all the other Republican candidates
who will be on the ballot this year, ALSO cannot design their campaigns
to talk about clear policy.

The article DOES NOT mention what other journalists do -- that Trump's
constant use of race and personal insults in his campaign, are an
embarassment to other Republican candidates. And, the entire
Republican Party is being degraded, by Trump's undisciplined cycles
of personal attacks and racial insults.

From Beginning to End

Written on August 12, 2024: I have been a little under the weather today and I am very tired. We had no plans for today, so I have been resting up a bit. When I was up for a little while, and my husband and I were talking, the subject somehow went to the songs that the Lord had given me to write, and I mentioned how I had listened to one today that I had totally forgotten existed, for I don’t take the time to go back and listen to them anymore. So he encouraged me that I should do that. So as I was resting, I began listening to those songs.

All of a sudden, I recognized that I was listening to the very first song that the Lord had given me to write on April 6, 2011. Now, before he gave me this song to write, I had not really written songs other than whatever I had to write in one of my music classes in high school and college, and other than me putting a tune to a poem that I had written back in the 1980s. Yet, my husband had been encouraging me for years to write my own songs, but I kept telling him that it was not my gift, which at that time it definitely was not.

Then, on April 6, 2011, all of a sudden I had a tune in my head and I knew that I was to write it down, so I did. And then I asked the Lord for words, and he gave me the words to go with the tune, but just one verse. Later in the day I asked him if he had more words, and he gave me the second verse. Now it had been 40 years since I had last studied music, and I really had no clue what to do with this song or how to communicate it with others, or who I could get to sing it, for I had not really sung much at all for maybe 2 years.

Long story short, I ended up singing all but one of them, because I had no one else to sing them, and I needed to be able to share them, although my voice had certainly met better days. My husband sang with me in a few of them and our daughter sang one of them. But I had to learn how to write them in a format to where they could be recorded, and I had to learn how to record them and then how to share them with others, and that was a long process of learning all sorts of things I had no clue how to do previously. But with the help of my husband and some of my children and two in-law children I learned what I needed. And it was the Lord who strengthened and helped me all throughout this process or I would have never survived it all.

Now, back to the beginning. I was listening to these songs today when the very first song the Lord had given me to write began to play, “Gracious Father.” And the day that he gave me that song I was thrilled beyond measure that he had given me just that one song, for that was a miracle of God! But now back to today, the song that came next I recognized as the very last song the Lord had me write, “When I Was Walking,” dated January 16, 2020.

And as I thought about that for a moment, I realized that he had just taken me “from beginning to end” with just those two songs (a total of 185). For he was showing me the first and the last, the beginning and the end, who is God. He was showing me God, in other words, because all of these songs which were written were not written by me, in reality, but by God, and then he just shared them with me for me to share with others for their encouragement. And he gave me all the tools I needed to do his work.

“I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!— I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” (2 Corinthians 10:1-6 ESV)

And then I went to where I had left off last in my reading of 2 Corinthians, and the above passage of Scripture is what came next, perfectly in tune with what the Lord had just given me to share with all of you. For what the Lord was having me share with you, prior to me reading this passage, was that the ministry of song writing that he gave to me was from him and not from my human flesh, and I can definitely attest to that. Certainly I had to participate in the process, but it was all under the direction of the Lord.

And that is how it should be for all of us who are ministers for the Lord Jesus and for his gospel message. Not one of us should be operating in our own flesh, doing whatever we decide to do, but we should all be led of the Holy Spirit and we should speak or write or sing or whatever he has us doing as we are inspired and guided by the Spirit of God living within us so that we are giving out His messages and not our own. Again, we still have to do the work, and we still have to participate in the process, but by the Spirit of God.

And, yes, all of us who are doing the work of the ministry, under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, will face criticism and false judgments from other people, some of whom may accuse us of operating in the flesh and/or of promoting our own flesh. But we can’t let the opinions of other people affect what we do in love response to our Lord Jesus and in obedience to his calling upon our lives. I have to write and publish each day whatever the Lord gives me to share, regardless of how others respond.

When I Was Walking

An Original Work / January 16, 2020

When I was walking along the way,
My Lord was with me, and He did say,
“My child I’m with you. I hear you pray,
‘Oh, help me, Lord! Need You today!’”

He is my friend, near to the end.
Gently leads me. His servant be.
He helps me pray – knows what to say.
He’s all I need. On Him I feed.

When I am wond’ring of what to do,
He gently leads me to what is truth.
He is my helper. He strengthens me.
When I’m in want, supplies my need.

He comforts me with all His love.
Gives me His grace from heav’n above.
I heed His call to watch and pray,
To guard my heart throughout each day.

When He is calling to come to Him,
To let Him lead you, trust Him within,
How will you answer to Him today?
Will you say, “Yes, Lord, have your way”?

Do not neglect to let Him in,
Cleanse you from sin, made new within.
Leave all your sin, obey your Lord,
Trust in His Word – His mighty Sword.

Being Made Right

This song is a 4-part harmony hymn that the Lord gave me to write, but I am singing it as a solo. This song, just like the others, is not for entertainment purposes, though. The singer is me, and I have an old voice that comes, and it goes. So, don’t listen for a great sound or recording, or to be entertained. Just listen for the words, for the message, for the Scriptures in song.

This is one of those “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs” that the Lord has instructed us to speak to one another for the encouragement and for the building up of the body of Christ. He doesn’t say that they have to sound professional, by human standards, for the object is to just share what he gives us to share for the encouragement and strengthening of one another.

Being Made Right

An Original Work / September 8, 2019

Jesus, lover of my soul,
Cleansed and saved me,
Made me whole;
Purified me, now new within.
By His grace, I’m free from sin.

Holy Spirit lives within,
Teaching me to walk with Him,
Guiding me each step of the way.
Living for my Lord each day.

Father God, He is my Lord.
Walk with Him in one accord.
Follow Him wherever He leads,
Living holy, Him to please.

Witnessing for Him each day,
Loving others in His way,
Telling them about Jesus Christ,
And how they can be made right.

The Point of This Is

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written,
‘He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.’
“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:6-15 ESV)

The subject matter is the gift of giving to the needs of others within the body of Christ as they had need. And this discussion began at the beginning of chapter 8. The churches of Macedonia, out of their extreme poverty, gave to the needs of others “according to their means,” and beyond their means out of a desire to minister to the relief of the saints who were in need. And they set the example to the church in Corinth to follow in like manner. But they were to give according to their means. And later, when those who were in need no longer were in need, they could then give to others in need.

Now, in the previous writing, “Where is Your Money Going?”, I covered this subject of giving to the church and to the needs of the saints, so I am not going to revisit that subject which you can read about in 2 Corinthians 8-9. But here I believe the Lord is leading me to broaden the subject beyond just financial giving to those within the body of Christ who are in need. For we are to give to others in so many different ways, and not just financially to help meet their physical needs. But we are to give to others spiritually, according to their spiritual needs, to help them to grow in their faith.

For it is true, as well, that if we sow spiritual seed sparingly, we will also reap sparingly. But if we sow spiritual seed bountifully, we will also reap bountifully. And if all that we do is give money or possessions to those who are in financial need but we neglect to minister to them spiritually from the truth of the Scriptures, they may do better in this life in the way of having their physical needs met, but they may not be prepared spiritually to follow Jesus Christ with their lives in death to sin and in living to God and to his righteousness so that they have eternal life with God in heaven.

And this is not teaching works salvation. For the Scriptures teach us that true faith in Jesus Christ results in us being crucified with Christ in death to sin, and us being raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but as slaves to God and to his righteousness. Therefore we are not to let sin reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires, for if sin is what we obey, it leads to death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it leads to righteousness and to sanctification, and its end is eternal life with Christ our Lord (see Romans 6:1-23).

And the Scriptures teach that, as the body of Christ, that we are to be generous not only financially, but we are to be generous with our time and with our giving to others as they have need spiritually. So, as the body of Christ, we are to be encouraging one another spiritually in our walks of faith to walks of obedience to our Lord in holy living. And we are to be using the spiritual gifts we have been given of the Spirit of God to minister to the saints of the Lord for their spiritual encouragement and maturity in Christ. And we will grow spiritually together as each of us does his/her part.

So, we are also to be speaking the truth in love to one another so that none of us is taken captive by people in their deceitful scheming who are teaching lies to the people rather than the truth of God’s word. And we are to be helping one another to grow to spiritual maturity in our walks of faith and obedience to our Lord in holy living. We are also to be encouraging one another via psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, which we share with the body of Christ, as we are led of the Spirit, for the spiritual encouragement of the entire body of believers in Jesus Christ.

We are to be those who are students of the Scriptures, who are studying them in their appropriate context, who are being led of the Spirit of God as to the truth of what the Scriptures are teaching us, and how they are to be applied to our daily lives. And then, as we are able, and according to the truth of our own walks of faith in the Lord, and not in hypocrisy, we are to be teaching and admonishing one another within the body of Christ. And we are to be exhorting one another daily so we’re not hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. And we’re to stir up one another to love and good works.

[Romans 12:1-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; 1 Corinthians 14:1-5; Galatians 6:1; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:1-16; Ephesians 5:15-21; Ephesians 6:10-20; Philippians 2:1-8; Colossians 3:12-16; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:13; Hebrews 10:23-25; James 5:19-20]

And we are also to be ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of this world. But we need to make certain that the gospel message that we are spreading is the truth and not the lies which so many are spreading today. For Jesus Christ gave his life up for us on that cross that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. And Jesus said that if anyone would come after him he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to our lives of sin, we will lose them for eternity. But if we die to sin and live for God, we have eternal life with God.

[Luke 9:23-26; Matt 7:21-23; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; Gal 5:16-21; Eph 5:3-6; Tit 2:11-14; Matt 5:13-16; Matt 28:18-20; Jn 4:31-38; Jn 13:13-17; Jn 14:12; Acts 1:8; Acts 26:18; Rom 10:14-15; Eph 5:11-14; 1 Pet 2:9,21; 1 John 2:6; 1 John 3:4-10]

Who Believes?

An Original Work / October 3, 2013
Based off Isaiah 53

Gospel message, who believes?
Jesus Christ died on a tree,
Saving us from all our sin,
So we might be cleansed within.

Had no beauty found in Him,
That we should desire Him.
Man of sorrows, suffering;
Crushed for our iniquities.

Surely He has borne our griefs;
From our sadness, brings relief.
Bore the stripes; forsaken, He,
So forgiven we might be.

We, like sheep, have gone astray,
Each of us turned his own way.
Jesus calls, “Repent today;
My commandments, now obey.”

Jesus said, to come to him,
We must die to all our sin.
Crucified with Him, we live,
Walking in His righteousness.

Suff’ring servants, we will be,
Taking His identity on us,
When confessing Him
As our Savior, Lord and King.

Why did the women want to anoint the body of Jesus after the burial?

After Jesus had died on the cross, Jn 19:

Wrapping a dead body before burial was a common Jewish practice (Ac 5:5).

Ellicott:

Parallel account, Matthew 27:

Joseph was in a hurry to beat the sunset.

The Marys followed Joseph to learn the location of the tomb. They would be back to the tomb after the Sabbath, more than 24 hours later. Mark 16:

This was not embalming, which was a far more complex procedure involving internal organs.

Why did the women want to anoint Jesus after his body had already been laid in the tomb?

Just before the Sabbath, Joseph did what he could to quickly wrap Jesus' body and spread the spices inside the tomb. After the Sabbath, the women intended to perform more meticulous work on Jesus' body.
Most believers in our day and age are unaware of the common burial practise in the 1st century CE for the wealthy:

After some years the bones of the remaining skeleton would be collected and placed in an ossuary.
