  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I’ve read online about the concept of some people having an open portal or doorway that leads to demonic attacks/voices/etc. How do Christians close said doors?

If it’s an issue of unrepented sins then do they have to name every individual sin? Or can they just pray for every sin to be repented or forgiven in the name of Jesus?

What about laying of hands?

Any other ways that I’ve not listed?

Can a faithful believer screw up so bad to be tormented by these things?

I’m sorry for all the questions but it’s a topic that I find interesting.

You know who Jesus states He never knew in The Bible, people who were casting out demons. Any group who focuses on this, I would stay away from. Because more than likely they are not born again children of God and are trusting in works they are doing and do not believe it is belief in Jesus that gives a person God's free gift of Eternal Life salvation.

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Jesus said "And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." Matt 10:7-9

But in Matt 7, "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Briefly in answer to OP.

Portals, doors - Jacob's ladder with angels ascending and descending is in Gen 28:10-19.. Plus "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter." (Rev 4:1). There's a lot we don't know about the spirit world. As believers, we need to know God and His Word & understand it, The enemy offers counterfeits and his mission is to kill. steal, & destroy (John 10:10).

Repenting - believers need to repent after salvation. You can read about the 7 churches in Rev 2 & 3. Scriptures about sins includes I John 2:16; Gal 5:19-21; Rom 1:29-31; Exo 20:17. Thankfully, "...if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away." John 1:9

There's 3 heavens. God's throne is in the third heaven. "I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth such an one caught up to the third heaven." II Cor 12:2 "...he was caught up into paradise..." Also, Dan 2:28; Psa 103:19-21.

2nd heaven is outer space. "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:" (Matt 24:29) In Dan 10, an angel is explaining to Daniel that he was sent in answer to his prayer but was detained. "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me after I had been left there with the kings of Persia" (Dan 10:13). Might want to read that chapter to get more details.

Earth's atmosphere is the first heaven. "But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;" Luk 4:25

Might to read Eph 6: 10-18 again in view of your questions.

'Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment." Heb 6:2

"Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure." I Tim 5:22
In the Moses tabernacle, the high priest prayed concerning his sins first then he prayed for the people. (Heb 7:27).
Lay hands on the sick and they shall recover (Mark 16:18)..Hands are usually laid on for blessings and conferring authority.

So if we haven't answered your questions, give us another chance.

Kurt E. Koch (1913-1987) received his Doctor of Theology degree from Tubingen University and was a noted German theologian, minister, and evangelist. He pastored and counseled those suffering from the occult in its various forms throughout the world, covering sixty-five countries and five continents. His other books include Christian Counseling and Occultism; Demonology, Past and Present; The Lure of the Occult; and Occult Bondage and Deliverance.

The books of Kurt Koch deal mostly with his observations of those who are not Christian. Generally the occult world is not a problem for Christians because we cannot be possessed.

1Jn_4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

However, one may have to deal with direct assault such as in spiritual warfare (Eph 6). One also has to contend daily with the influence Satan has established in the world (Eph 2:2)

Perhaps the best strategy for a Christian is to grow in faith, exercise discernment, cling to truth, grow in knowledge, continue in prayer, and grow in Christ-likeness (selflessness (2Cor 5:15, Eph 4"13)

An open portal is usually when a person messes with the occult like meditation, yoga, mysticism, chasing the supernatural, fire tunnels, slaying in the spirit, fake tongues etc. All these plus more can open one to this type of fear. God will send delusions to those who believe in a lie. He allows the adversary to torment because he can do nothing unless God allows it. This is very important to remember. Either one walks with His Holy Spirit or they quench Him.
One must repent( change their mind) from all forms of such things in order for true " living waters" , His Holy Spirit, to flow in one's life. Any and all forms of torment and fear will disappear.
Blessings

1 John 4:18

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Believers have one glaring weakness, they still have the same body they did before being born again.

Though the divine nature grows within us, as we live by faith day to day, the earthly tent we inhabit still collects data and makes its own observations.

This body or flesh by instinct tries to control everything in it's surroundings, and is thus hostile to the divine transformation .. since it cannot be discerned with the senses.

The above described weakness is what can give people a sensitivity to things that are occult in nature.

Many elements of contemporary church services aggravate this sensitivity which caters to the need to feel your way through things. The degree of effect varies based on each individual body.

The solution to this is the practice of trinitarian spirituality. It can take some trial and error to see which seed bears which fruit. But all people who are born again by the Holy Spirit have a parable of the divine reality within them, so sooner or later, the right path will make sense and guard their hearts.

"But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there." (James 3:14-16)

So, "bitter envy and self-seeking" is "demonic". So, any envy and self-seeking is dangerous, whether it is called demon possession or demonic attack or demon influence. Satan is envious and self-seeking; so he tried to take over Heaven, and got thrown out and now is doing various cruel and evil and hateful and destructive things.

So, by being self-seeking and envious a person is sharing with Satan himself!!

There is "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience," we have Paul saying in Ephesians 2:2. This is Satan's spirit, and this spirit "works" in all who are disobedient. So, any disobedience to God, I consider, is a way of sharing with Satan in his evil spirit, whether it is called possession or not.

People disobedient are being *worked* in themselves by Satan's disobedient spirit. This includes how hard lusts can work to get a person so seek pleasure. And there are very hard working emotions that degrade a personality, and cause someone to be unforgiving.

Unforgiveness is a major danger and problem of Satan's evil spirit. *Keep*your*forgiving*up-to-date* ! ! !

"'And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.'" (Mark 11:25)

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (in Luke 23:34)

By means of his disobedient spirit, Satan shares his emotions and drives with humans, working them to do what Satan desires > for example >

"Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?" (James 4:1)

Satanic desire for pleasure of his spirit works people to war for pleasure.

"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

Submitting to God includes how we obey how His peace rules in our hearts.

And so, we need to refuse to give in to negative and nasty and naughty and noisy stuff in us, that is meant to break us down and make us weak so we give in to seeking pleasure in order to make ourselves feel nicer than that deep nasty stuff of sin. Actually, it can go the other way > first we might give in to pleasure seeking, and then is when we are weak not only for the pleasure but also for the pain which can come later.

But while we obey God in His peace, we are in His almighty safety, His immunity almighty against any and all evil stuff. But God does not only defend us, but in His peace we are in His love with His own creativity for how to love any person, at all. Because God is all-loving.

So, it is not enough to make trouble and pain and confusion go away; God will have us generously forgive and love any and all people in caring prayer with hope for them; so if we have only succeeded in feeling nicer, for a while, God wants to share His own peace with His own creativity with us.

Do you know satan copy lots things, and we have powerful God, and we can have the most supernatural experiences swell :) We can't be arrogant with those. Or block them with pride. If u are born again, u have new spirit. Now did u know that u can have relationship with Jesus? Not only read about him from bible? I truly belive, he's presence is GRUCIAL in our walk. Some say, dont seek experiences, well... Jesus is person. We can have Joy and peace etc all that, it's amazing isn't it? But some smart theologist might argue back, coz they have lots knowledge, but spiritually dead .

There is no joy or peace in fear. A "supernatural experience" is Satan's work. It is defined as a manifestation by some kind of force. Some say it is His Holy Spirit some say it is from the spirit world and because of this confusion, it is not from God as He is not the author of confusion.
Our Father works in miracles , signs and wonders and they are not not from the natural. There is a big difference between the two and one must know how to discern between them. What is from God and what is from the adversary? A Christian with the miraculous gift of discernment can tell you.
Be blessed
