Anyone ever read or attend lectures by Dr. Norm Finkelstein?

? what ? There's nothing impossible about that. I think the CIA does that for a century now. May well be that Other even more harmful groups or group leaders have done so for thousands of years.
Much as I hate to even mention ai, ai is doing that at the rate (or speed) of over a trillion operations per second!
Let's say I own a small business that sells widgets, and the worldwide demand for widgets has decreased dramatically. My sales have dropped precipitously in 2025. So I'm going to raise the price. Why on earth would I do that? Because I'm not a very smart businessman. :) Individuals can do unpredictable things.

Coming Out In The Vatican A Homosexual Theocracy

Ever heard of the Metropolitan Community Church? It was actually founded by a gay man that originally only had gay members. The first straight member was the founder’s mother.

I think they’re liturgical and celebrate Communion weekly.

I know one of their ministers became a Catholic priest later on.
I’ve never heard of them.

Christians Have an Image Problem

I think it can be hard to tell what are the fruits of the spirit or not. It cannot be good works alone as even a Godless world can do good works.
It seems on the internet/in life/media/ it is "easy" to say "fruit(/s) of the spirit" and use that as an argument for or against something/anything.
It seems it is rare though, to see and understand the fruit of the spirit in truth. Something else is wrongly used instead, to seem to represent something good or right without actually even knowing what is good or right with God.

I doubt that they broke in illegally.

(CLV) Ro 13:1
Let every soul be subject to the superior authorities, for there is not authority except under God. Now those which are, have been set under God,

(CLV) Ro 13:2
so that he who is resisting an authority has withstood God's mandate. Now those who have withstood, will be getting judgment for themselves,
What, you think they got a visa?

No He wasn't.
He always had a home that God could have snapped His fingers and He'd be there with His Father.
Perhaps God could've, but He didn't. They were without authorization to be in Egypt, where they'd fled for safety.
This earth wasn't His home, so He wasn't a "displaced immigrant".
If this earth wasn't His home, that would make Him a foreigner His entire earthly life.
That's some "progressive" religion like talk
Whatever you do for the least of men, you do for me. What does that mean?

Christians Have an Image Problem

This has probably been the church leaderships biggest error: trying to “look good” to those who are in darkness and abandoning faithfully obeying Gods word.
Is there any known person or group that did recently faithfully obey God's Word , even partly , without any guile or deception or worldly purpose (of gain or popularity) ?

Is being single, and able to handle it, a blessing?

Matthew 19:10 His disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” 11 But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: 12 For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.” (NKJV)
But why would such people exist? If the purpose of marriage is procreation, then what is the purpose of being single? I would say to dedicate yourself to God. But how are these people chosen for this?

No. Do not as if possible try to apply what the Bible says to life as we are living it. Everything is not only upside down today, but everything (practically) is harmful - pernicious (re Galatians) - and surviving is by sheer grace of the Creator through Jesus the Messiah.
Does Romans 13 apply to President Biden and his administration?

NT Wright says marriage won’t exist in Heaven, but love will be transformed

I can't think of a reason why that would be.

The Lord says that there are those who are eunuchs since birth, those who become eunuchs, and there are those who are eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom; i.e. there are those who have devoted themselves to life-long chastity and celibacy. Those many Faithful who were devoted to a life of celibacy and chastity are deprived of nothing; just as those who were married in this life are deprived of nothing.

Likewise, to those who fathered and bore children, the love between parent and child is not destroyed in the Age to Come, but this does not mean that the childless (whether by choice or circumstance) shall be deprived of anything in the Age to Come.

Nothing of our present time compares to the glory and beauty of the Coming Age; where all is made perfect in Christ. All that is good is made perfect; and all who lacked good shall receive perfect good.

Therefore I, having no children of my own, will not be deprived--but shall rejoice and share of the good of all those who did bear children; for all are in Christ, so the commandment "rejoice with those who rejoice" shall it not be be magnified? Could it be any other way? That the commandment which says "Do not envy" and the commandment that says "love one another even as I have loved you" and the commandment that says "rejoice with those who rejoice" shall reach teleos in the perfected glory of Christ in the Age to Come--where not only is there no envying but rather there is but rejoicing in the good of others--so that my brother's joy shall be my joy, and my joy shall be my sister's joy; and our joy shall be perfect in Christ. Do we not read the Apostle saying, "Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind." (Philippians 2:2), if the Apostle desires his joy finding its teleos by the unity of will, love, and commonhood even among the Faithful here and now--how much greater is that joy when these things are eternally true?

We shall not be deprived of each other. And in each other--and we all in Christ--shall be of unspeakable, incomprehensible joy. Beholding what no eye has seen and no ear has heard.
Doesn't that mean the heavenly relationships between people who had a relationship in this life will be the same quality (not any more or less special) as the heavenly relationships between people who had no relationship in this life?

DAVID MARCUS: De facto President Trump's handling of shutdown threat was a masterclass

I breath Chinese air. Trump has no control over that; but he might reduce their emissions by bring industry back here to the good old US of A. Of course that will hurt the fat cats who benefit form the Chinese slave labor that is making them rich; as American workers struggle to pay their bills. How is the EPA crippled from protecting clean water?

I'm grateful for the work that Trump is doing to remove toxins from our food. MAHA!
Sure, too bad about the air and water, though.

EPA is about to lose a major tool that allows it to keep energy costs low and regulate pollution. The pending repeal of EPA’s Endangerment Finding will make our air dirtier, our energy more expensive, and our planet less healthy. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and President Trump are behind this effort to enrich Big Polluters at our expense....

The Trump administration is exempting dozens of chemical manufacturers, oil refineries, coal plants, medical device sterilizers and other polluters from Clean Air Act rules....
The limits are aimed at reducing the releases of toxic chemicals, including those that cause cancer. One rule that the Trump administration is exempting about 50 polluters from would have been expected to reduce cancer risks of people living within 6 miles of a chemical plant by 96 percent.
The Trump administration touted its decision as being supportive of fossil fuels and manufacturing....
  • One proclamation exempts about 40 medical device sterilizing plants from requirements to reduce 90 percent of their emissions of cancer-causing ethylene oxide.
  • Another exempts more than 50 chemical manufacturers and oil refineries from requirements to cut emissions of toxic chemicals including ethylene oxide and another cancer-linked chemical called chloroprene.
  • A third proclamation exempts eight producers of taconite iron ore, which is used to make steel, from requirements to reduce mercury emissions by about 33 percent. Fetal exposure to mercury is linked to brain and nervous system damage.
  • The fourth proclamation exempts six coal plants from restrictions on releases of mercury, nickel, arsenic and lead. The Biden-era rule in question was expected to reduce exposure to substances that can cause developmental delays in children, as well as heart attacks and cancer.

Book Of Enoch And The Flat-earth

Because 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 would not make any sense if the Bible was fiction.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

I don't see anything in that which requires us to assume any particular literary genre on the part of the various authors.
Yep which it why I qualified my statement with “in my opinion”.

Yay!!!!

Not really. Do you read the words literally or not?
Yes, I read it word by word, but I don't think that's what you mean.

Applying Romans 13 suggests we shouldn't change laws or policies set by the Biden administration, since God appointed him as President.

Or

The next president, regardless of who is elected, will have the authority to change any or all of President Trump's policies, after all the next President will also be appointed by God.

Israel-Hamas Thread II

Lol, like the pope for Evangelicals? That all may have given me a giggle, but your predictions on future public opinions are stated without supporting evidence.

I just noticed you’re Roman Catholic. The Catholic Church could use another Pope Pius XII.

Yup. “Pope Netanyahu” is practically the head bishop of the evangelicals. My claims aren’t baseless, a growing number of young conservatives aren’t drinking the AIPAC Israel-first Boomer neocon Kool-Aid.

This situation has never been binary. For me, as an American, it’s about putting Christians and Americans first. Most of Israel’s interests are not America’s interests. Refusing to send American kids to die for Netanyahu doesn’t mean cheering for the Mohammedans or hating Jews. Israel wants the “greater Israel” plan—they do not want peace.

Thank goodness gnostic American Evangelicalism is withering. Modern Israel cannot survive without billions of American taxpayer dollars and U.S. military weapons. The IDF behaves like undisciplined thugs—their military isn’t particularly impressive. But when a nuclear-armed state with the backing of US military aid, is fighting people with slingshots, it’s not hard to steamroll the Palestinians (which includes Christians) and starve them out.

As a Christian first and a combat veteran, I don’t want my taxpayer money funding an anti-Christian Israel that has dehumanized its neighbors for the past 50 years—they have never been interested in peace. Theologically, there is absolutely no reason to support the 1948 Israeli state—especially given how it treats Christians.

Tesla Deliveries Down 13% Year Over Year, Misses Expectations

More class action action

Elon Musk and Tesla suffered a pair of legal setbacks on Monday after federal judges in California and Maryland certified separate class action lawsuits against the carmaker and its CEO personally.

The rulings open the door for broader litigation over Tesla's marketing of its self-driving technology, and Musk's alleged role in efforts to defund the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

In California, U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin certified two classes in litigation over Tesla's claims that its vehicles were equipped for full self-driving capability. The case centers on statements by Tesla and Musk that all vehicles produced since late 2016 had the hardware necessary for "Level 5 Autonomy."

Judge Lin concluded that Tesla's representations were widespread enough to affect California purchasers and could form the basis for class-wide claims under consumer protection and fraud statutes. "Plaintiff has shown by a preponderance of the evidence that class members were exposed to the Hardware Statement from October 2016 to August 2024," she wrote.

[Maryland case is USAID employees as a class suing Musk for doing things only a confirmed officer of the US could do (like fire them all).]

Romans 13
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing.

He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.
Applying Romans 13 suggests we shouldn't change laws or policies set by the Biden administration, since God appointed him as President.

DAVID MARCUS: De facto President Trump's handling of shutdown threat was a masterclass

The reader will note.I never said that Trump found a cure for cancer. I never said he was working on a cure for cancer. It was obviously a hypothetical. Thank the poster above for abundantly demonstrating what an overreaction looks like.
I was commenting on how much I loved your hypothetical. So clearly I knew Trump didn't cure cancer. Of course he did cut funding for doctors so that part isnt hypothetical is it?

Do you have a peoblem with the reasons why I loved it? Because you could comment on that.

Anyone ever read or attend lectures by Dr. Norm Finkelstein?

That would be just an acknowledgement of the general principles of supply/demand/pricing on a broader level.

But the study goes much deeper than that, and drifts off into several other speculative concepts.

That "all other things equal" is the kicker... it makes for a clean analysis on paper for a Econ 101 homework assignment, but is one that never plays out in the real world.

In my 40+ years, I don't know that I've ever encountered the situation where there's two identical businesses, equidistance from my current location, that are selling identical products, that are equals in every way (to where price is literally the only deciding factor)

Some examples:
Millennials and GenZ have an interesting shopping pattern (according to the data) where they will actually pay more for the same product, for reasons that have nothing to do with the product itself -- brand association, the company having views on other issues that match their own.

Likewise, some people will avoid certain brands for the same reason.

Certain fad products will become a boom for reasons that could've never been predicted, and then fizzle out just as quickly.

Myself as an example... when I do my grocery shopping, I'll actually drive a little further, and pay a little more, to buy the exact same stuff, because prefer to shop in comfort in a less congested store. I have family members that are the complete opposite, they'll enter the Thunderdome that is Walmart on Saturday morning, in order to save $7 on their weekly shopping trip or take advantage of a specific sale.

A big part of microeconomics is a subfield referred to as "behavioral economics", and is highly speculative. As, a huge percentage of our purchases don't follow the textbook supply-demand curve.
Right, the laws of economics do not predict the behavior of individuals. That would be nigh-on impossible. It predicts behavior of people in aggregate.

Book Of Enoch And The Flat-earth

Real events that happened.

Numbers 23:7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

Numbers 22:6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

Numbers 23:6-8

Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

6 Balaam returned to Balak, who was standing by his burnt sacrifice, he and all the princes of Moab.
7 Balaam took up his [figurative] speech and said: Balak, the king of Moab, has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me; and come, violently denounce Israel.
8 How can I curse those God has not cursed? Or how can I [violently] denounce those the Lord has not denounced?

Illegal Immigration

The millions of illegal immigrants should be deported.
If all undocumented immigrants are deported from the USA, what happens next? Will that solve the problem?

A subsequent president may choose a different approach. President Biden granted temporary status to over 500,000 individuals, which is allowed under presidential authority. President Trump revoked temporary status, which is also permitted by law.

Are we going to do this every four years.

I understand the reasons some conservatives are skeptical of immigration policy and hesitant to support any form of amnesty or pathway to citizenship. When President Reagan granted amnesty to three million undocumented individuals, it was with the understanding that Congress would subsequently reform immigration laws, secure the border, and implement measures to prevent illegal entry or visa overstays.

However, none of this has occurred. Instead, over the past 40 years, political actions have dominated, with immigration frequently used as a political tool during elections.

The question is, if all undocumented immigrants were to be deported—assuming that is even logistically possible—what would be the next steps?

What steps should we take to ensure that we are not in the same position thirty years from now?

This is an expression of absolute knowledge; but only YHWH has absolute knowledge.

With all of the CAPS, that statement has the look and feel of Truth Social. As the Left continues to slide in the polls; there is much that they could do to cling to their power, by emulating MAGA.
What a useful response.

I appreciate your need to say something.

Aesop's fables are fiction and they are "useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness".

Stories of all sorts teach us things.
It might be that those fables are like quicksand, dangerous, and anything that is built on or with them leads to death?
