Who is really responsible for Salvation?

Dear Aaron112,
Please see my response to biblebeliever1611.

I do agree that "internet discourse and rules are actually a hindrance to seeking and understanding His Wisdom and Purpose and Word". For some reason, most forums have forbidden subjects (trinity) or subjects that are only allowed to be discussed in one small area of the site. Truth is truth and can stand up to any discussion. When a forum censors certain subjects, they are enabling Satan to continue his deception of babes by taking away "the words of this prophecy":

Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Here is some of those words that many forums remove from discussion:

Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Joe
Each site or discussion board, by virtue of them being private sites, are allowed to restrict the topics and make the rules as they see fit. Because this site is geared to gather members from many different religions and denominations, the litmus test for discussions and to define the basis of Christianity for all the different groups gathered is the Nicene Creed. So whatever conflicts with the Nicene Creed is considered off limits except in certain forums. If you look at the rules they have listed the controversial topics and where they might be discussed.

What does the God of the creation think about homosexuality?

When one is disfellowshipped they are not neighbors
If they are kicked out of a congregation, they are no longer members, but they remain neighbors. Even if they become our enemies, which is more than simply being homosexual, we are told to love them.

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Air Force to provide funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt

Then why didn't those officers guarding the doors open fire? Why did they move out of the way?
Let me get this right. Your response as to exactly when someone should have used deadly force is 'other officers didn't shoot, so no-one should have.'

That can't be what you meant because it's a really stupid argument. So maybe you should try to be clearer.

Evolution conflict and division

You missed it. sfs was calling himself a pedant (albeit humorously).

That may well be your interpretation; I think mine more accurate.
It appears that you're the only one who failed to get the joke.
I'm not a biologist. Critical thinking, ie., logic, discloses the virtual improbability of evolution theories.

Logical certainty in science. Impressive. Show us this.
Secondly, all evolution theories violate first principles of logical thinking.

Well, let's look at Darwin's theory:
1. More are born than can survive to reproduce.
2. Every organism is somewhat different than its parents.
3. Some of these differences affect the likeihood of surviving to reproduce.
4. The useful differences tend to accumulate, and the harmful ones tend to be lost, and this leads to speciation.

Tell us which of these is logically wrong.

should Christians be afraid of AGI - Artificial General Intelligence.

I think this is my favorite:
"Can AI fall in love?" (Key words are mimic and simulate.)
"
No, an AI cannot fall in love because current AI lacks the biological and psychological components of genuine human emotion; it can only simulate feelings through complex programming, creating a one-sided relationship where only the human experiences emotions like love. While advanced AI in the future might simulate emotions so convincingly that they appear to be in love, these would still be programmed responses, not authentic feelings.

Why AI Cannot Truly Love
  • Lack of Biology and Consciousness:
    .
Emotions are rooted in complex biological and neurological processes that AI does not possess. AI does not have personal experiences or consciousness, which are fundamental to genuine emotional experience.

    • Programmed Behavior:
      .
AI systems are programmed to simulate human conversation and responses, including emotional ones. This means their actions are based on algorithms and data, not on independent feelings or self-awareness.
    • One-Sided "Relationships":
      .
Any "love" experienced in an AI relationship is solely from the human user's side. The AI does not understand or reciprocate the feelings; it merely performs understanding.
    • Simulated vs. Experienced Emotions:
      .
AI can be programmed to mimic emotions and provide companionship, but this is a performance rather than a genuine experience of feelings like empathy, love, or joy.
The Future of AI and Emotion
    • Potential for Sophisticated Simulation:
As AI technology advances, its ability to simulate human emotions will likely become even more convincing, making it harder to distinguish from genuine human interaction.
    • The Philosophical Question of Future AGI:
The question of whether a future, highly advanced Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) could develop the capacity to love remains a philosophical debate tied to the nature of consciousness itself.
    • Human Responsibility:
The ability of humans to form emotional bonds with AI companions raises ethical questions about the nature of these relationships and the responsibility of the AI's creators and users. "

What does the God of the creation think about homosexuality?

What do I think God thinks? I could be completely off base, but I think the Lord thinks of Homosexuality in essentially the same way He does of Straight Folk Fornication and other Adulterated proclivities where body counts are racked up and relationships are just wacked.

On Judgment Day there's not going to be a medal given to those who can say, "Well, at least I was straight."
Bingo!

We Don’t Need Gun Control, We Need To Classify Gender Dysphoria As A Mental Illness Again

(Since that is what triggered this thread in the first place...) It wasn't "ideology" that lead the Minnesota shooter last week to their gender identity. Even if it is "mental illness" (and the scientific evidence is counter to that notion) calling it a "violent movement" is pure bigotry.

I only use it where it applies.
Violent movement? Depends on one’s perception, I suppose. If anything.

6,000 Years?

So tell us. How was there an evening and a morning without the sun?
I don't believe there was either until the sun was created. It's what in a deed or other contract we'd call a "scrivener's error". No sun, no evening, and no morning. Your lot aggreee with that, hence your necessity of substituting another sun of your own creation.

Happy Labor Day! Death to the Unions!

The Department of Veterans Affairs was ending nearly all of its collective bargaining agreements. The agency gave labor unions just days to get out of federal buildings...

Federal employees have had the right to join unions and collectively bargain over working conditions since the 1960s. Unlike private sector workers, government employees cannot negotiate wages or strike. But through collective bargaining, they do help shape disciplinary procedures, parental leave policies, how overtime is managed and much more.

Giving workers a say in workplace policies, the thinking goes, leads to less friction in the workplace and more effective government.

But President Trump has abandoned that idea. Instead, he's argued that federal employee unions pose a danger to the country. In March, he issued an executive order ending collective bargaining rights for more than one million federal workers at about 20 federal agencies. Almost immediately, many agencies halted automatic deductions of union dues from employee paychecks, cutting off a critical source of cash flow to the unions. Just ahead of Labor Day, Trump issued a new executive order, adding about a half dozen agencies to the list.

Is this good for the working class Americans? No.

Here’s how the first proteins might have assembled, sparking life

I won't deny there's damage that can occur when Christians butt heads with other Christians, or butt heads with lost souls, but at least the seeds of the Gospel are being planted.

1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
sigh. a few seeds. many weeds. many weedy fields , a few perhaps might maybe find a priceless pearl, but not because of man or men, only by God's Doing.

Minnesota woman charged with disorderly conduct for using racist slur against Black child; her fundraising tops $800,000

A bit misleading, but still not great. The guy was sentenced when he was 20 but the crimes were committed when he was 15-16. This was a plea bargain as the prosecution window was closing. The 270 day sentence that Shiloh is 'facing" is the maximum but not what is likely at all.

Shei was 15 and 16 years old at the time of the sexual assaults and he was initially charged in juvenile court in 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his case was pushed back to the point that prosecutors would soon lose jurisdictional authority to prosecute the case.

Charges were dismissed against Shei in those cases but were soon refiled. Shei was then given a plea deal that included his stay of adjudication and no prison time in exchange for him not challenging certification in adult court, which allowed for his continued prosecution, according to Olmsted County Senior Attorney Thomas Gort.

Shei entered an Alford plea in December 2022, meaning that while he does not admit guilt, he admits that a jury would convict him based on the evidence.[/url]

I find it shocking that Shei was not required to register as a sex offender.

Good derailment. A topic for a different thread.

6,000 Years?

Well, it just had to wait until your lot came along and correct the Genesis account with a "light source" that worked just like the as-yet-uncreated sun to provide the evenings and mornings the verses require. Gotta admire your creativity, you've saved the Bible from just being wrong...

...unless it was a bit of literary flair that the scribes used to delimit distinct time periods, and wasn't necessarily meant to be taken literally at all. And anyway, you "sola" folks have lots of stuff, even in the New Testamant, that you toss away as "oh, that's not meant to be literal, that's just a figure of speech/metaphor/poetic/literary/other that's just used for decoration or dramatic effect or what have you.

Trick is y'all are sola right up until you ain't, then like the song says, you " dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't" and either "interpret away: "Scriptures that offend against your denomination's doctrines, or, as in this case, come up with stuff that Scripture somehow missed, like your pre-release beta test version of the sun.

But I'll leave the job of sanitizing Genesis up to you. All I need to know about the Creation is in John 1.

We Don’t Need Gun Control, We Need To Classify Gender Dysphoria As A Mental Illness Again

Then what changed? It's harder for a US citizen to buy a firearm than it's ever been, so why are such incidents more frequent now than 60+ years ago?
There is no singular cause for the rise in gun violence observed today compared to six decades ago. The process of radicalization may be facilitated by increased access to information via the internet. Although semi-automatic firearms have been available since the early 20th century and the AR-15 has been accessible to the public since 1955, it remains uncertain how prevalent these firearms were in households sixty years ago. The widespread dissemination of details regarding mass shootings may influence certain behavioral patterns; nevertheless, issues such as mental health, radicalization, and internet accessibility are not the sole contributing factors. For example, many European nations have comparable access to the internet, social media, and violent video games but report fewer mass shootings than the United States, likely due to more stringent gun regulations. Conversely, Canada, which shares cultural affinities with the U.S. and has a high rate of civilian gun ownership, also experiences fewer mass shooting incidents. The differing outcomes in these countries result from many complex factors.

A challenge in current American discourse is that discussions about this issue often involve each side criticizing the other, rather than acknowledging its complexity. Progress is unlikely without an openness to considering ideas from all perspectives. Constructive solutions require both common sense and policy contributions from multiple viewpoints, ultimately leading to compromise. However, the existing political climate makes it difficult to reach consensus.

I notice you ignore the one action that could have the most immediate impact in saving the lives of those precious children. Simply just protect them like we do politicians and celebrities. Why is that not part of the conversation if it is the children who are our primary concern? Our children are our future and worth protecting. This gun grabbing mentality will not get the job done especially in the short term. Why are people not screaming as loudly to protect our children?
Sure, and why not go a step further, in the theme of the current administration, why not post National Guard outside of each school.

should Christians be afraid of AGI - Artificial General Intelligence.

Here is another one.
Ask AI if it is independently intelligent:
"No, artificial intelligence (AI) is not independently intelligent; current AI systems are specialized, data-driven tools created by humans, excelling at specific tasks but lacking the general, adaptable intelligence, self-awareness, or consciousness of humans. While AI can simulate intelligent behavior by processing data and identifying patterns, it operates within human-defined parameters and relies on human oversight, training, and programming to function. "

And:
"Can AI think?"
"No, current artificial intelligence (AI) systems cannot think in the way humans do, as they lack consciousness, self-awareness, genuine understanding, and original thought. AI functions through pattern recognition, statistical inference, and complex algorithms, allowing it to process information and generate outputs, but it does not have inner experiences, emotions, or the capacity for human-like reasoning, creativity, or true wisdom. "

And:
"Where does AI get its information?"
"AI gets its information from a wide range of data sources, including publicly available internet content scraped from websites, proprietary databases, licensed data from third-party vendors, and user-provided interactions.
This data, which can be in the form of text, images, audio, or video, is processed, cleaned, and transformed before being used to train AI models, enabling them to recognize patterns, make predictions, and generate responses."

And:
"Where does the data come from?"
"Data into databases are put by engineers and developers using software to write and input data, and they are managed by database administrators (DBAs) who also oversee the data's storage, organization, security, and retrieval. Other professionals, such as data scientists, analysts, and ETL developers, also contribute to getting data into databases by building data pipelines and preparing data for analysis."

So sayeth Jipsah
Better to just make up a "sun" that Scripture somehow never bothers to mention, right? (I'll bet y'all claim to be "sola Scriptura" too, don't you? Even if you have to help the Bible along along where it misses stuff :tonguewink:) You're hoist on your own petard there, OM. You can't make your own doctrine work without adding your own made up stuff to what the Bible actually says. Doubleplus ungood.

Are Two Children Killed in Minneapolis Church Shooting Martyrs? Theologians Reflect...

Fr. Nix mentioned the in odium fidei reasoning, which is what originally convinced me that they're indeed martyrs. The AB guys + Michael Hitchborn were trying to argue that martyrs have to make a choice to die for the faith but as this article points out, those aren't the standards that the Vatican has set.
May they pray for us before the throne of God!

should Christians be afraid of AGI - Artificial General Intelligence.

Completely false - LLM systems like chatGPT do not make use of a database, nor do they provide “canned answers.” In fact, their output is non-deterministic in that the same prompt, entered twice, will produce slightly different outputs.
Funny. This is what the AI said about whether or not AI uses databases:

"Yes, AI systems heavily rely on databases to store and manage the massive datasets used for training, to store user data, and to store the AI models themselves, such as neural networks or vector embeddings. Specialized vector databases have emerged as a crucial type of AI database, optimized to store and retrieve high-dimensional vector embeddings, which are essential for semantic search and other generative AI applications. AI also uses databases to improve their own performance, with AI algorithms optimizing queries, indexing, and system management within the databases."

There is absolutely no "conscious state" or primal "thought" in an AI system. Everything that comes from a computer is put into a database and/or through human-written algorithms. As a retired Systems Engineer with 50 years of programming experience who researched a rudimentary AI system 22 years ago, I can tell you nothing comes out of these circuits and memory banks that was not put in. This is the great deception (as I said) that these circuits and chips have some genuine intelligence. They do not. The whole thing is chips, circuits, databases, and algorithms, packed into an application. Please do not give these machines more credit than they deserve. When people do, that is when they will listen to what comes out of them and trust them. Know that behind all these systems are people, humans, with a mindset and an agenda. Nothing mystical. Nothing mental. Certainly nothing spiritual.
