  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who is your favorite pony?

Did she want you to outgrow them?
I don't think that was it. She just didn't like for me to keep stuff. She frequently got rid of my stuff because she didn't want me to have a lot of things. Selling them with my knowledge was unusual. I was still fairly young when this happened.

There were lots of times I would come home from school and my stuff would be gone with no warning. She would tell me that I didn't need it. It didn't matter to her if I still liked it or wanted a collection.

‘Under the Southern Cross:’ Why Australia’s bishops are renewing call to welcome migrants

Amid rising tensions, Australia’s bishops have renewed their call for the compassionate welcome of migrants, marking the 75th anniversary of a landmark pastoral letter that helped shape the nation’s migration response.

The Bishops’ Commission for Evangelization, Laity, and Ministryreleased “Under the Southern Cross: A Journey of Faith and Unity” on Aug. 21.

The letter commemorates the 1950 pastoral letter “On Immigration” that urged Catholics to exercise “great generosity” toward displaced Europeans seeking refuge after World War II.

“Their words remain just as applicable to us today,” the anniversary letter reads. “Once again, our nation serves as a sanctuary and refuge for thousands seeking a new life — whether fleeing hardships in their homelands or pursuing the opportunities, freedom, and prosperity that Australia offers.”

Why are some women’s religious orders dying while others are booming?

In my humble opinion, in order for women religious to survive, they have to return to tradition, have the habit, and focus on a life of prayer.

My diocese has been blessed with many priestly vocations. Tradition IS the future for the Church.

God's will be done, and praying for MANY more NEW nuns and priests throughout the United States and the entire world!

Is being single, and able to handle it, a blessing?

I have been single all of my life and it will probably stay that way.

Maybe it's because I've always been quite introverted and value my own space.

It's quite nice living in my own house with my own rules. No squabbling over the TV remote, or what I'm having for dinner!

Is the Rapture credible?

Not Orthodox theology, that is ancient and full of early Church Fathers' Holy Tradition. And the Older Protestant denominations have achieved a fair degree of depth in the 500 years since their beginning. But with independent evangelical churches theology is sometimes the personal interpretations of the pastor or of a group of elders and that kind of theology has had insufficient time to develop depth and scope.
can you give an example

Idolatry

We have a far greater Kapporet, a far greater Holy of Holies than what was instructed to Moses and given at Sinai.

We have Jesus Christ, and we enter into the Holy of Holies where we receive His own flesh and blood which was broken and shed for us.

Is being single, and able to handle it, a blessing?

Let's just say I'm a Scorpio and I knew others born within the same month and one one within 7 days of the same month as I did and they're not aging in reverse.

Scorpios have a tendence to become introverts and I was for most of my life. The self-imposed isolation could be a factor but I've turned extrovert in the last few years. Tired of the isolation perhaps but it did not change my strange aging situation.

The other scorpios I knew are like anybody else, having lots of friends and spending lots of time with friends.
It's a coincidence then.

There’s a Giant Flaw in Human History

I saw this and thought "History Channel and 'aliens.'" One reason I no longer watch it.

Considering that lithic cultures knew a lot about how to shape stone, megaliths aren't all that surprising. Nor that some of the earliest monuments consisted of piling up stuff into mounds.

As for communities, communities can and do exist on the move. You don't have to have a stable farming base to support a community. It just can support a larger one.

Now, the Creeks have a strong migration story, and I think it was Bartram or Hawkins who asked them about the Indian Mounds at present day Macon, GA, and they essentially said, "They were here when we got here," but they were known to have traveled there from elsewhere.
Not just shaping stone though this seems under appreciated considering the level of achievment for ancient peoples who were more or less just coming out of primitive nomads.

Often these works are followed by less quality works. Like the leter Inca whose works are far less superior to the megaliths they tried to copy and repair.

There’s a Giant Flaw in Human History

Like Khufu whose name is painted in the Giza Pyramid as the only evidence he built it. Some say later added by those who first discovered this. There is no other evidence except for a small statue of Khufu found miles away.
Khufu's name or Cartouche was found in the uppermost load relieving chamber above the roof of the King's Chamber by Howard Vyse in 1837. These chambers are inaccessible and the Cartouche must have been added by the builders.
Howard must have been one clever dude to add Khufu's name given in 1837 Khufu was unknown to Egyptologists as the statuette bearing his name was discovered in 1903!!!

Biden Appointed Judge Orders Release of ‘Teens’ Who Violently Attacked Ex-DOGE Employee Edward Coristine, AKA “Big Balls”

They'll probably plea bargain it down to "Peacefully protesting DOGE".
Well since we're going into the ridiculous arguements...

I agree with you! There's already precedent thanks to Jan 6 insurrectionists. Quite a few conservatives here complained about their judgements. I mean they were just being touristy, it's the people's house, they merely walked in, etc. And they got pardoned too! So I agree with this assessment based on previous positions shown here on this forum.

Catholic theology is so deep and expansive - covering every aspect of human life and every kind of human endeavour. Plus it is deep in history and philosophy. This is unlike the kind of theology that individuals derive from their personal bible reading.
so you are comparing Orthodox and Protestant theology to personal bilbe reading.
