Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

Eclipsenow:

What Trump called "Two Corinthians" is usually referred to among Christians as Second Corinthians. Calling it "Two Corinthians" shows unfamiliarity, and tells us what Trump knew of the bible before anyone asked him to name a bible verse.
Let's face it. Christianity in America with efforts from those within Christianity America itself has become a political tool power bloc. Trump in reality is about as Christian as my gold fish, yet unlike my gold fish he understands the power that bloc yields. And honestly to hear so many Christians speak to Trump's faith leaves questioning if they understand their own faith.

Titus 2:7-8

“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.”

Trump goes after mail-in voting and election machines; "States are merely an “agent” for the Federal Government", must do what President says

I remember the days when the Republicans screamed from the rooftops for a "smaller federal government"! Where are they now?
Im so confused.
Yes. He can't do that by executive order. The Constitution states that each state has the right to decide how to run their elections.

Trump says ending Ukraine-Russia war could help him get to Heaven

I think he was just making fun of his critics. Here's the comment he made which I've timestamped to get right to it:

Good catch. It does sound different in the context of the clip.

6,000 Years?

If that was the case He would have said so. In that case He would have said the world was flooded, not just "land." There's no way to parse one's way out of accepting that God did not say the world was flooded.

Indeed. This is the kind of thing that we often see from KJV-only people. Neglecting what the words actually mean in Hebrew leads one astray.

Bank executives blow the whistle on how Obama, Biden admins pressured them to debank conservatives

I'm not surprised that you don't accept the facts in that article. After all, the facts made the Obama and Biden administration look bad for their wrong doings.
Like…trying to regulate the sector that, (at the time), broke the economy five years previous?

Why Did Men Used to Look Older? | Make It Make Sense

Men used to work outside most of the day to make a living. Today, you can work inside for most of your life. Exposure to UV does a number on the skin.

That said, there's also genetics. Being my hair has turned black instead of gray, simply being clean shaven makes me look younger. I'm at the age where I don't care about that, though. And if I look my age, I can get senior discounts.

Jesus & Social Justice

If everyone were taxed a flat amount, then those with lower incomes would be being treated unfairly because they are not paying an equal amount of their income, so they could argue in favor of everyone being taxed a flat percentage in the name justice and equally. On the other hand, if everyone were taxed a flat amount, then they would be being treated unfairly because they would be paying an unequal amount, so they could argue in favor of everyone being taxed a flat amount in the name of justice and equality. So generally speaking there will always be an angle where people are being treated unequally and the life and blood of politicians is to find this angle and convince those people that they are being treated unjustly and that only they can solve that injustice. If there were not a problem for politicians to solve, then it would be to their advantage for them to create one, so the primary motivation of politicians is not to solve problems but to get re-elected. There is much injustice and inequality that is caused by politicians try to impose a particular angle of equality onto a system, so if we desire social, then we should not put our trust to in the government.

Understood. And for the most part, I agree with you. However, I notice you were quick to mention "politicians", and their attempts to resolve the problem; whereas the video was clear that political answers are NOT the solution. And so that brings us back to the original question and point, which has to do with PERSONAL concerns for justice. Like, if poverty or inequality or lack of love for foreigners are things Jesus was concerned about, what should Christians be doing about it PERSONALLY - not in terms of lobbying the government to do (or not do) something for them?

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

I'd like to see the full context of that, because he's taken out of context all the time.
While true, I recall a Reagan-Mondale debate where what Reagan said about his religious belief strongly suggested he wasn't a Christian. There are people in the pews of every denomination who might be church members, but who have never come to Christ.

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

It looks like this thread is degenerating into another "who's a real Christian" discussion, which has no place in a political forum.

To the contrary, a Christian who is unable to discuss Jesus or what defines being a Christian in any aspect of life—whether in politics, church, or the workplace—is not truly following Jesus. Jesus states:

“Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels”

This is a political subforum within a Christian forum. It provides an opportunity for both Christians and non-Christians to debate and discuss current events that affect everyone.

However, telling Christians not to discuss Christianity in a Christian forum defeats the purpose of the forum.

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

I am quite certain all presidents have
supported the views of freedom of religion and support for Israel. However, catapulting one president as a " type" of King by claiming divine intervention is quite another story.
Daniel 2:21 argues for it.

Here's the thing: The snag some seem to have about divine intervention is assuming it shows God's favor to a particular person. But first and foremost, divine intervention is about God's will, which does not necessarily mean that it's God's endorsement of a particular person.

Jesus & Social Justice

I know many Christians are hesitant to connect "following Jesus" with what's often called "social justice". But I believe there's compelling biblical support - even in passages like Micah 6:8 - that following Jesus compels us to pursue justice, including in societal forms.

What do you think - does Scripture call us to systemic justice, or is the focus primarily on individual devotion?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially after watching this video: Login to view embedded media

National Park Service Yosemite employee fired for being part of group (while off-duty) displaying trans-pride flag over El Capitan

On May 20, a group of LGTBQ+ activists and climbers ascended El Capitan — an iconic vertical wall formation in Yosemite National Park — to display a 55-by-35-foot trans-pride flag to affirm transgender identity and support biological research that showed natural occurrences of sex switching in other animals, according to a news release.

Among the group were Shannon Joslin, a biologist at Yosemite...

Two hours after the flag went up, the group was ordered by park officials to take it down. Climbers who participated said that park officials outlined no consequences after they ordered the flag removed and that the group left peacefully. Video of the demonstration shows Joslin was not in park uniform during the climb, and the news release added that they also were not on duty at the time and used no park materials to rig the flag.

The National Park Service pointed to a recent rule that the agency said went into effect the date of the incident. The rule prohibits guests or employees from hanging signs or banners over any “natural or cultural feature” in the park.

Joslin says that rule did not exist at the time, and an archive of the park’s rules five days before the incident does not include a prohibition on flags. Another archived version of the page from the following month, on June 15, includes the new flag prohibition and is dated back to May 20.

The climbing group and other activists ... have also cited President Trump’s executive order on “Restoring Free Speech and Ending Federal Censorship” as reason for reinstatement. The order, signed on Trump’s inauguration date, said it would “ensure that no Federal Government officer, employee, or agent engages in or facilitates any conduct that would unconstitutionally abridge the free speech of any American citizen.”
Governing is harder than ruling.

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

Donald Trump was caught off guard - unable to name a single verse in the bible. Watch this - and remember.
Don't be fooled by what a speech writer can do - or a 5 minute google search in a flippant moment to appeal to a large section of his base.

NT Wright says marriage won’t exist in Heaven, but love will be transformed

Then will there be inequality of love in Heaven? Will the heavenly love between those who were married on earth be greater in any way that the general love among all in Heaven?

Will those who had few or even no love in the present time thus be eternally short on love in heaven compared to others who enjoyed many loves on earth?

You are correct, but I think you are reading too much into my post. It is unusual for a president to fail to proclaim his religion. Cyrus did the same. Both were under pressure to do so. I really didn’t mean to go much deeper than that.

St. Bernard’s 3 tips to get wisdom (one will surprise you)

This article is a good one in one sense, but not as helpful as it could have been. The author's last sentence is "So if we would be wise, don’t start with an academic book. Start with prayer and love." The fundamental problem with the author's "three tips" then, is how does one start with prayer and love? A life-long journey is called for -- thus how does one start in the journey of prayer, and how does one begin with and grow in love?

Prayer, wisdom and love are really found on the same journey - a path in stages. The author would have been more helpful, then, to suggest this fact and include a summary or reference to Bernard's "stages": what is the process toward which one can grow toward authentic prayer, and mature wisdom, and holy love?

St. Bernard's work On Loving God is on-line and free to read, and its Table of Contents includes three chapters describing each of his four "stages" of love (his chapters VIII, IX, and X). These three chapters describe, in terms of love (or holy charity), the stages of the interior life of prayer proceeding to the perfection of the Gifts toward wisdom, and the Virtue of Holy Love (or Charity).

Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5-7), teaches a stunning absolute, in the context of and concerning love:
Mt 5:48 You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Perfect here means love pure, holy, mature - corresponding to the love with which God loves. This word of Jesus, taken seriously, ought to motivate us all to read this work of St. Bernard! His "degrees of love" develop toward love's perfection in his "4th degree". Here also is the fullness of wisdom.

Some Evidence Found on the Oldest Map Dealing with Noah's Ark

Irving Finkel, always the entertaining curator to listen to, sheds some light on an old cuneiform tablet he has been studying. His findings are very interesting and they deal with the supposable location of Noah's Ark. The cuneiform tablet is around 5000 years old.

Illegal Immigration

Even God has an entrance requirement.
Yes He does have a requirement and here it is:

Leviticus 19:33-34: "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, you must not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God."

Deuteronomy 10:19: "And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt."

An inconvenient truth.

Be blessed.

'Guide my bullets like you guided David's rock': Woman says prayer before shooting at neighbor she believed was 'murdering and raping' people and kids

The gun didn't belong to her. "She grabbed her son's rifle". So the issue is the lack of a keeping guns locked. Although that would be a matter of knowing or suspecting his 64 year old mother would grab it and go postal.
As a gun owner I do not lock my guns up because of whom I think might grab it but because ANYONE might grab it.

Former DOGE Employee beaten in DC trying to stop car jacking

No - this is why Trump moved the National Guard into the DC area to help law enforcement.

Congrats to this brave young man.
Correct. This one incident is why Trump has militarized Washington DC. Because Big Balls got beat up. Washington DC, which has had falling crime rates for awhile now, was trumpeted by Trump et al as something Trump has done himself. The odd thing is Governors like the one from Ohio, are sending the national guard to DC, when that state has three cities in the top 10 come crime statistics.
