  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You don't have to fall or stumble into sin

SCRIPTURE: 'Now, to the one with enough power to prevent you from stumbling into sin and bring you faultless before his glorious presence to stand before him with ecstatic delight, to the only God our Savior, through our Lord Jesus Christ, be endless glory and majesty, great power and authority—from before he created time, now, and throughout all the ages of eternity. Amen! ' - Jude (Judah) 1:24-25

LESSON: Only God has the power to keep us from falling/stumbling into sin. The good thing is that He is not only able but WILLING! However, we have to DECIDE to do as we are told to do. The Lord said to Abraham: "I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect". – Genesis 17.1. The Lord Jesus said to the Young Rich Ruler: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” – Matthew 19:21. Both instructions are the same. It means: "Remove distractions from your life and make ME your goal!", which may mean letting go of things that are not very easy. That is why we need His power! "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the POWER to do what pleases him" - Philippians 2.13.

PRAYER: Lord, Help me to let go and let You lead!

1 TIMOTHY 6

20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” 21 for by professing it some have swerved from the faith.

When I was young, I went to buy bottles of pop from our newspaper shop, i received something back if I kept them unbroken, so My mother and Father made sure I was careful with these bottles, but being me, I sometimes broke them.

Timothy is Paul's protégé, he is the one earmarked by Paul to take over as leader of the churches. He has been trained by Paul, he has had time and effort invested into Him.

Paul has deposited the knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ into his heart, throughout these two letters of 1 &2 Timothy, he pleads with his protégé to keep strong and to keep the true gospel safe.

Paul knows more than most that there were many false teachers who were trying to steal the gospel.

The words of Paul echo down to us, each generation has been entrusted with the gospel and NOW it is their responsibility to deposit it with the next.

Let me ask you this:

Now I am a bit older, it is my responsibility to deposit the true gospel unto the next generation of Timothy's.

Many of us need to have a legacy and that legacy should be the one Paul has, one of not just sharing the gospel, with his current generation, but passing it on to the future generations.

Also, to the Timothy's, guard the gospel you have been given with your life. It is the very power of God unto salvation unto all who believe, it has been deposited in your life, now it's time to pass the deposit on.

WORKING TOGETHER WITH GOD AND EACH OTHER

1 Corinthians 3
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

I really want us to concentrate on verse 9. 。
We are workers together with God
You know there are many gifts among the body of Christ. My brothers and sisters, we are not in competition with each other, we are workers together with God and with each other.

I am blessed to write and share and to be in ministry, as are many others, that doesn't mean I am in competition with other people who are writers and indeed write fifty times better than myself.

A dear sister writes beautiful poetry, that is her gifting from God. I can't write poetry, am I jealous?.. No. Do I thank God for her ministry?....Yes.

Maybe you think you can do something someone else is doing.. but are you prepared to pay the price.. to go through the difficulties that person may have encountered. The Lord does not give out gifts until that person is ready to handle it.
I always remember when the Lord started me writing.. I had never written before and I put emoticons at the bottom of the messages .. but the Lord has helped me and taught me.
We are to thank God for the different offices and gifts that people hold. Let us remember it is the Holy Spirit who gives out the gifts and ministries and every one he gives out is to the person who can uniquely do that role within the body of Christ.

Please read and study 1 Corinthians Chapter 12.

You have your own unique role in the Body of Christ, one that has been chosen for you by the Father and given to you through the operation of his Spirit, who also gives you the power to operate in it.
Be very careful believer, not to be unhappy with the spiritual gift you have been given, that would be to grieve the Holy Spirit and to tell Him, that he doesn't know what he is doing, when he clearly does.
For those of you, who do not know what their gift is, then seek God's face on the matter, he will reveal what He has in store for you and he will give you the strength to operate in that gift. 。
When the Lord is looking for people to use, he does not look at what denomination you are in, what size church you are in or what the size of your bank balance is.. he looks for a willingness to serve Him and to also serve the Body of Christ.

Let me finish with a question.
If the Lord said your gifting was washing up and serving tea every week after church, would you accept that or would you complain? Be very careful not to complain, the Israelites got nowhere and died in the desert because of their complaining and critical spirit. see Numbers 14

Salvation in a moment versus taking up one's cross

Because I have religious OCD, I am tending to wonder whether or not I am a Christian. Therefore, this is being posted in “Struggles by Non-Christians.” A person with religious OCD has the OCD doubt machine attack their belief in their own salvation frequently. In my today’s Bible reading, I read one of the places where Jesus says to take up one’s cross and follow him. I believe in salvation in a moment. In some places in the Bible, such as when Jesus counseled the rich young ruler, it says harsh things like take up one’s cross and follow Jesus. In other places, it indicates instantaneous salvation. For instance, in the gospel of John, a man has travelled from another city to meet Jesus. He begs Jesus for the life of his dying son. Jesus said, “Your son lives.” I think this was about one o’clock in the afternoon. The man returned to his own city. As he approached his house the next day, his servants met him and said that the fever had left his son. He inquired about when this happened. They told him the time his son was healed and he realized it was at the same time Jesus had told him his son lives, the day before. It says, then, simply, “Then he believed and his whole household.” At another point, Jesus told the sinful woman who was washing his feet at a dinner party, “Your sins are forgiven.” He said the same to the paralytic who was let down in front of him through the roof of a house. He told the woman at the well that he had living water for her. She believed and asked for the living water. Each of these instances were where the person believed and got saved in a moment. He did not say to any of them, take up your cross and follow me. Based on my knowledge of Christian/gospel doctrine, I suppose that the “instant believers” each, in their heart, along with “believing,” immediately decided to take up their cross and follow Jesus.

I have long concentrated on the moment of salvation. I have long sought the moment of salvation. That is because I know that after that moment, one’s sins are permanently forgiven. Salvation cannot be yanked from you after you have it, no matter what. Anybody who says otherwise I vehemently disagree with. Salvation occurs in a moment. But that is one incredible moment! Jesus said tough things like “count the cost” and that he who places his hands to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the kingdom of heaven. So, my question is, what does one have to do to really be saved? On the one hand, they have to deny themselves and take up their cross; on the other hand, the moment one believes, they are saved. I suppose it has something to do with trusting Jesus. I forgot to mention at the start of this that besides OCD, I have wavering faith. For me, trust and following Jesus can come and go on the scale of moments. I can seriously give my life to Christ at one moment, and the next be back to the way I normally am, which I suppose is: living for myself. I try to say to Jesus, ‘since you save in a moment and you do not waver, Ephesians 1:13-14 apply to me.’ Ephesians 1:13b says that believers HAVE trusted Christ, past tense, and that they were then sealed by the Holy Spirit. I want to believe that I HAVE trusted Christ, whether or not I am continuing to trust him at the present moment, and am therefore sealed by the Holy Spirit. But my OCD and wavering faith conspire to make me doubt my salvation again, shortly. How much psychological prepping, for how long, does one have to do to decide to bear one’s cross and follow Jesus? If one supposedly trusts Christ for a moment, but then their faith wavers away two seconds later, then they can wonder about the reality of their conversion.

What must I do to be saved?

After 50 years, Ellen Burstyn returns as Chris MacNeil in new "Exorcist" sequel

article said:
The Exorcist: Believer is a new horror film that features the return of Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil, the mother of the possessed girl from the original film.

article said:
The Exorcist: Believer is expected to be one of the most anticipated horror films of 2023. It is scheduled to hit theaters on October 13th, 2023, just in time for Halloween. It is also the first of a planned trilogy of new Exorcist films that will continue the legacy of the original film.

Looks interesting.

Is EVERYTHING an unbeliever does sin?

Romans 14:23 says "everything that does not come from faith is sin."

Does this mean that a lost man who jumps on a grenade to save his friends lives was sinning in his action?

Romans 14:23 seems to say yes, but I have a hard time believing every breath an unbeliever takes is a sin, but I could be wrong...

Glad to be here!

Just dropping a little message here to say hello and introduce myself! I saw this website and decided to join. I'm an ELCA Lutheran and I thought that I could learn from others here and conversate a little bit about my faith and understand the differences between different denominations. I'm picking up Christianity again after 2 years of being an Atheist so I have forgotten a lot about the faith but I wish to be a full believer again. Hopefully, by being here I will be able to fulfill that and become a believer in Jesus again. I consider myself Lutheran because I go to a Lutheran church and I was baptised as a Lutheran even though I left church 2 years ago. It has only been recently since I came back to it. No i'll will or hatred or anything. I am very open-minded and willing to learn!

Overall, I'm glad to be here! I hope to learn many things because I have forgotten a lot of it.

Why do Apple and Google give support for only a few years?

I use Android on my phone and it gets 4 years of system updates from Samsung and an additional 2 years of security updates, and Apple will give you, on average, 6 years of updates for iOS, MacOS, and other OSes that they offer. But Microsoft guarantees 10 years life cycle for each edition of Windows and usually offers upgrade from an old OS to a newer one. Why does Microsoft offer superior support? Surely Apple is rich enough to offer better.

Tag team in U.S. Attorney’s Office accused of hiding Biden bribery allegations

The top lawyers in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware, one of them a Democratic donor, appeared to work in tandem to thwart an investigation into claims President Biden and his son Hunter collected a $10 million bribe while Mr. Biden was serving as vice president.

House lawmakers soon will have an opportunity to interview U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who was in charge of an investigation into Hunter Biden over unpaid taxes and lying on a firearm background check form. Mr. Weiss has agreed to testify at a public hearing about the case later this year amid criticism and new evidence that he concealed from IRS investigators critical information corroborating the Biden bribery claims.

House investigators also want to interview Mr. Weiss’s sidekick, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf, who IRS whistleblowers say stood in the way and even worked to undermine their efforts to fully investigate the Bidens for influence peddling and public corruption.

We have all of this to look forward to. These investigations are just getting started.

Florida approves 'PragerU Kids' curriculum for use in public schools; PragerU Kids “aligns to Florida’s revised civics and government standards”

PragerU Says Florida Teachers Approved to Use Its Class ‘Curriculum’

A PragerU spokesperson told The Daily Beast it will be “up to teachers” to decide whether they use its “supplemental curriculum” in their classroom. The non-profit says Florida is the first state to approve the content, but they’re pushing for other states to join by the fall.
The Florida Department of Education told The Daily Beast in an email that it determined PragerU Kids’ material “aligns to Florida’s revised civics and government standards” and can be used by school districts at their discretion.

[Needless to say, PragerU is not an academic institution.]

Former pastor confesses to killing 8-year-old girl who was walking to Bible camp nearly 50 years ago

An 83-year-old former pastor has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of a neighboring pastor’s daughter in 1975, Pennsylvania officials announced Monday.

The suspect, David Zandstra, was arrested on July 17 in Cobb County, Georgia, where investigators say he confessed to killing 8-year-old Gretchen Harrington nearly five decades ago when he was a pastor in Marple Township, Pennsylvania, according to the Delaware County District Attorney’s office in Pennsylvania.

Zandstra admitted he offered Gretchen a ride to the summer camp the morning of her disappearance, according to the complaint. He told officers he drove the child to a wooded area and told her to take off her clothes, the complaint said.

His confession came after investigators presented him with new evidence gathered early this year, which came from an interview with a confidential informant and a diary entry the informant wrote in 1975 when she was a 10-year-old girl, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.

The woman showed police a diary she kept in 1975 in which she wrote that the then-pastor “touched her groin area” on two occasions while she was attending a sleepover at his home, the complaint said. The informant told investigators when she told Zandstra’s daughter what happened, the daughter replied that her father “did that sometimes,” the release said. [The diary also mentioned the killing: “I think it was Mr. Z.”]

They took blockbuster drugs for weight loss. Now their stomachs are paralyzed

Joanie Knight has a message for anyone considering drugs like Ozempic or Wegovy, which have become popular for the dramatic weight loss they can help people achieve.

“I wish I never touched it. I wish I’d never heard of it in my life,” said Knight, 37, from Angie, Louisiana. “This medicine made my life hell. So much hell. It has cost me money. It cost me a lot of stress, it cost me days and nights and trips with my family. It’s cost me a lot, and it’s not worth it. The price is too high.”

Brenda Allen, age 42, in Dallas, Texas, feels the same way. Her doctor prescribed Wegovy for weight loss.

Emily Wright, 38, a teacher in Toronto, Canada, started taking Ozempic in 2018. Over a year, she said she lost 80 pounds, which she’s been able to keep off. But Wright said she now vomits so frequently she had to take a leave of absence from her job.

“And even now, being off the medication for almost a year, I’m still having a lot of problems,” Allen said in an interview with CNN. She said she was at urgent care recently after vomiting so much she became dehydrated.

Doctors say more cases like these are coming to light as the popularity of the drugs soared. The US Food and Drug Administration said it has received reports of patients on the drugs experiencing stomach paralysis that sometimes has not resolved by the time it’s reported.

Exclusive: Hunter Biden's gallery sold his art to a Democratic donor 'friend' whom Joe Biden named to a prestigious commission

On the campaign trail, President Joe Biden pledged that there would be an "absolute wall" between his official duties and his family's private business interests. The Biden White House repeatedly made reference to that wall when responding to questions about the fledgling art career of Hunter Biden, the president's son. In 2021, when a New York art gallery debuted Hunter Biden's paintings with asking prices as high as $500,000, the White House said that his team had a process for carefully vetting buyers, and that their identities were known only to the gallery, and not to Hunter Biden himself.
The White House has promised transparency. The American people deserve answers.

Worried if I’m too kind…..

Hey everyone!

I wanted to reach out today after a short absence(mainly because I’ve had no anxiety!)
But something has been resonating within me these past few days. Now needless to say I indeed am an extremely kind individual to everyone I meet, even people who are mean to me.

But I’ve been not worried but concerned as if I’m being too kind. Now obviously many of you might think NO!,but wait,I mean it in a way that I’m concerned if I’m too kind and not holy at the same time. What I mean is not making it seem like I’m passive over others sins,I don’t speak out towards coworkers sins, but I do with my family.

Obviously I’m objected to all wicked things(not trying to start a debate) such as homosexuality, abortion, pornography, liars, etc.

But I worry I’m not demonstrating enough holiness and intolerance for sin.

I dunno how to express it any better, overall I’m not ashamed to call myself a Christian, and I’m proud of the character!,but I want the world to understand I don’t tolerate sin and hate it.But I worry I’m too soft

The God Of All Grace

To grow in Christ, we must grow in grace:
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

More grace, by the power of the Holy Spirit
James 4:
5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain,
The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously?
6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

All grace, for all sufficiency in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you,
that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have
an abundance for every good work.

Doxology

1 Peter 5:

10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory
by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish,
strengthen, and settle you.
11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

GOP pushing for expanded child tax credit to increase refunds, include unborn children

Republicans in Congress are proposing an expansion of the Child Tax Credit that would boost refunds and include credits for unborn children.

“By expanding the Child Tax Credit to include the unborn and provide additional relief to working families, empowering women to care for their babies and families regardless of socioeconomic status or ZIP code, and expanding access to community resources, we can protect the most vulnerable, make a meaningful difference for those in need, and strengthen all families,” Ms. Hinson said.

Biden’s role in family business deals grows harder to deny

Mounting evidence shows President Biden was involved in his family’s shady foreign business deals, and looming testimony from a former associate could make it harder for the White House to refute charges of influence peddling and bribery.

Devon Archer witnessed phone calls with the ‘Big Guy’

Former Biden family business associate Devon Archer has been summoned to testify this month before a House committee investigating the family’s foreign business deals. Aides said Mr. Archer is scheduled to appear for a deposition Monday on Capitol Hill.

Mr. Archer, who is facing prison time on an unrelated securities fraud conviction, will claim to House investigators that he witnessed up to two dozen instances of Hunter Biden phoning his father in the presence of business associates, The Washington Times confirmed.

This article goes deep into other key pieces of evidence. I look forward to reviewing Archer's testimony.

At some point, all of us must repent of this...

I agreed with most Christians agree that we should repent from our sins and shortcoming but I never included repenting of my own righteousness. When I "bought" the eyesalve from Christ I soon saw that my own righteousness, unless repented of, would hinder my entrance into the Kingdom of God because I could not enter the Kingdom of God on the merits of my own righteousness. Furthermore, I could not enter The Kingdom of God trying to mix Christ's righteousness and my own at any ratio.

My righteousness is like filthy menstrual rags. Throw something like that in a basket of fresh laundry and you will redo the entire load. Likewise, my righteousness is so offensive to God He likened it to that filthy icon. I will only get into the Kingdom on Christ's righteousness alone. Behold it and it will transform me.

If you spend any time with people concerned with their own righteousness, you will not find pleasant people. Our righteousness hardens us and turns us into the soil of the hardened path. No weeds, but also no plants; no fruit. Yet, even God can reach those if they have something in them that responds to God.

We often love to argue doctrines like old Pharisees sitting at the gates of the city, each of us imagining we have the best doctrine and the most correct moral compass. But the best doctrine and moral compass is the indwelling of Christ alone as commander and Lord of our hearts and souls. Can our hearts be cleaned by observing moral precepts? Or are moral precepts kept by cleansed hearts?

May God Bless All Who Seek Him.
