It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a Superman comic under the Constitution for this congressman

California’s Robert Garcia will be sworn into office with the Constitution – and a priceless vintage Superman comic.

The comic is one of several sentimental items that will be underneath the Constitution when Garcia takes his ceremonial oath. The copy of “Superman” #1 will be joined by a photo of Garcia’s parents, who died of Covid-19, and his citizenship certificate, according to a Thursday tweet from Garcia.

“I’m looking forward to being sworn-in on the U.S. Constitution,” the Democrat wrote. “Underneath the Constitution will be 3 items that mean a lot to me personally. A photo of my parents who passed due to covid, my citizenship certificate & a Superman #1 from the @librarycongress.”

I know some people have been pearl-clutching about this, but I see this as a sincere move.

While I may not have the same viewpoint as a religious person (and perhaps there's some "law of nostalgia" this is perceived to be violating?), if a non-religious person is being sworn into office, I'd rather see them place their hand on something that has meaning to them vs. pretending to care about a belief system when they actually don't.

If a person's an atheist, do you want them placing their hand on a bible to just give an insincere nod to your belief system simply to pander? Or would you prefer them to be upfront and honest about how their beliefs differ from your own? Personally speaking, I'd prefer the latter, but I can't speak for religious people.

Being Single: Gender Perspectives

After a conversation came up in the "What's on your mind?" thread (What's on your mind?) I think we can have a discussion from both genders about our experiences being single (whether positive or negative).

I'll start with my experience:

I was saved when I was 19. There was only one single guy at church. Long story short, he picked someone else. I've tried online dating. It was unsuccessful and I am repulsed by it now.

I will admit that I was clueless and foolish back then on what I wanted in a guy. I focused on looks instead of personality, values, and beliefs. That's one of the reasons why I wasn't able to get a man back then.

It's hard to find single men at church. They date young and marry young. Even though I was young myself, I had missed the boat on getting a man (however I do believe God has someone special for me in the future, so it's not a permanent thing). I know some churches are against having a singles group for various reasons. The last church I was a member of, their explanation was "we have more important things to focus on". This was coming from a big and rich church. I tried another church that did have a singles group, but stopped going due to a non-Biblical teaching they promoted in a sermon.

I did date a guy that was not a Christian last year. I know that's wrong. We had started out as friends then slowly crossed the line of being more than friends. I regret being with him and I have repented. As of now I am not dating.

‘The Letter of the Law is Deadly’- But Have Not All Sinned?

2 Corinthians 3:4-6 says the following: “Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of ca new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

Is not the “letter” referred to here the letter of the Law of the Old Testament, which is a minefield of possible sins one can commit by not following the Law? The inference of 2 Corinthians 3:6 appears to be that the letter of the Law is the stick, and the Spirit is the carrot.

Is the New Testament without threats of punishment due to the commission of sin? Romans 3:23 says “...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...” what exactly those sins are, are barely mentioned in the New Testament. There are at least twelve sins listed in Mark 7:21-22. These sins are covered in the Laws of the Old Testament. But the general definition of sin in the New Testament is defined by Romans 14:23 which says, “...For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.” So, as long as you have faith in God, you will not sin and you will be blessed in all the days of your life, both here and in God’s Kingdom. How much different from that is Deuteronomy 28:1-14 which describes the benefits of abiding by God’s Law?

In the Old Testament, faith in God comes through the Law, but in the New Testament it comes through love. The Old Testament gives you a command to have faith, but the New Testament implies a choice, leaving it up to you as to which path you want to take. But all the 500 some-odd Laws of the Old Testament have invariably been melted into the proclamation of faith in God in the New Testament. So faith in God includes things mentioned in the 500 Laws, and much more. Faith comes from love, of which there aren’t enough words in the universe to list what love is made up of, whether that love be for God or for others. We only know that love for both God and others is necessary for our faith in Him.

In certain respects, the Letter of the Law is faith in God by numbers, but faith in God through Christ arises to being based on pure feeling, which is what love is.

Hi! I’m new here

Hi everyone!
I’m Jillian, and I’m new to this forum.
I love Jesus, theology, Bible study, music and art ☺️
I would probably describe my denomination as Anglican, and my favourite Bible verses are Matthew 5:10, Isaiah 41:10, and John 16:33.
I’m really looking forward to meeting more Christian friends here and discussing theology, the Bible and Jesus!
Happy to be here

Sacraments

In Catholic teaching there are seven sacraments that are recognised and performed by the Church. These are
  1. Baptism
  2. Confirmation
  3. The Holy Eucharist/Communion
  4. Reconciliation/Confession
  5. Marriage
  6. Ordination
  7. Anointing of the sick/Last Rites
Nearly all Christian churches practise baptism and Communion, though some do not. Nearly all also practise marriage, but many Protestant churches practise it not as a sacrament but as something else. Confession is practised in the ancient churches but only a few Protestant churches practise it. The same is true of confirmation - which in the Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox traditions is named differently and is often practised at the time of baptism. Nearly all churches have some kind of ordination. Last rites is not so common among Protestant churches.

There is serious theology behind the sacraments.

What do protestants think marriage is, if it is not thought of as a sacrament? And ordination? Does your denomination have something akin to confession and if so is it sacramental in any way? And what of last rites?

Eve was already planned before she was created from Adams rib.

Another thread made me think of what appears to be a contradiction in scripture. Many people seem to think God made Eve solely because Adam was "lonely". The scripture does say it. But that seems to be a gross assumption that somehow Eve was just an "afterthought" and God had no intention of creating humans with equal value. He created all the animals to be "male and female", why would he create Adam first and then Eve? My guess is if he created them at the same time, God could not guide Adam and build a relationship with him as easily if he already had a mate to depend on (perhaps).

I'm not a fan of KJV, but since it was one of the first English translations, I thought perhaps the error was in the translation, but it and my (NLT) version both say "male and female" He created them. I don't know what verse 27 is about, so someone with a KJV bible will have to verify the internet version.

Genesis 1:26-28
King James Version

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Then immediately in Genesis 2, we read:

Genesis 2:18-20

18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” 19 So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man[a] to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. 20 He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.

So is this apparent contradiction in the OG old Testament? I would like to know if it's a mistranslation of the original hebrew. If not, it does seem like God created Eve as an afterthought according to Genesis 2.

50 Years of Deafening Silence Confirms Radioisotope Halos Have Destroyed Evolution - It's Time For A Proper Burial

**** Note ****
(If you wish to skip the boring science lesson and head down to the bottom
to find out about the "50 years of deafening silence" - be my guest)

Dr. Robert Gentry, a Seventh-day Adventist scientist, made an extremely important discovery many years ago. After much research, in 1976 he published his findings in the prestigious, elite, peer-reviewed journal "Science" and turned the atheistic scientific world upside down: parent primordial Polonium-218 radioisotope halos contained in the Earth's basement granite rock layers. What does this have to do with disproving the evolutionary time table, which claims these layers of granite were formed by the slow cooling of molten rock over millions and millions of years? We must first understand what radioisotope halos are before we can understand why Dr. Gentry's discovery is so detrimental to the evolutionary time table and, ultimately, the theory of evolution which rests upon it:

All radioactive elements go through a continuing process of decay until they reach the end of the process and turn into lead. At the beginning of the process, a "parent" isotope, such as Uranium-238, decays into a "daughter" isotope, and after a time that daughter isotope decays into another daughter isotope and so on until the end of the decay chain is reached and the radioactive element finally becomes inert lead.

It's what happens during the decay process that is so important to Dr. Gentry's discovery.

When a radioactive isotope undergoes decay, either alpha or beta particles eject from atomic center of the isotope and shoot outward concentrically in all directions. If the particles are alpha, the high energy release causes visible damage to the surrounding crystalline structure of the rock in which the radioactive element is embedded - beta particles are too low energy to cause any damage. The distance the alpha particles travel outward from the isotope's atomic center varies from isotope to isotope, thereby producing varying distances of damage, seen as rings or "halos"; hence the name "radioisotope halos", much like if one slices a boiled egg in half and a cross section view shows the center yellow yolk, the white area further out, and finally the outer shell. It is by examining the distance of each halo ring from the atomic center of the isotope that scientists determine which isotope is responsible for the formation of each ring. Below is a picture of a parent Uranium-238 isotope halo and its associated daughter isotope halos on the decay chain:

F6630F0C-63F5-4617-849C-37719B38E4E6_1_102_o.jpeg

Scientists with almost unfathomable precision have measured the "half life" of each radioactive isotope, so they can make a pretty good guess about how long each will exist before it fully decays into the next daughter isotope on the chain.

Still here? We're almost done!

One of these isotopes on the decay chain, Polonium-218 (Po-218), has a half life of only 3.1 minutes - which means it will fully decay into its daughter isotope in the chain in less than 30 minutes. The shocking discovery made by Dr. Gentry is that he found parent, primordial Polonium-218 halos, which means the Polonium-218 isotope that caused them was not the result of isotope decay from Uranium-238, but began its existence as parent, primordial Polonium-218, as evidenced by the lack of isotope halos occurring further up the decay chain!

D7D57B9B-65A3-41BE-B093-1E20873EA39F_4_5005_c.jpeg

Therefore, because of the fleeting existence of Polonium-218, the only explanation for how parent primordial Polonium-218 halos could possibly form is that a parent Polonium-218 radioactive isotope suddenly sprang forth into existence within molten magma, immediately followed by the instantaneous hardening of that molten magma into solid granite whereby trapping the isotope inside, followed by an onslaught of alpha particle "radiohalo" damaging of the newly hardened granite as a result of this parent, primordial Polonium-218 isotope decaying into its daughter isotope over the next few minutes - the entire process requiring completion in MERE MINUTES, NEVER IN MILLIONS OF YEARS!

"By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made,
and all the hosts of them by the breath of His mouth...
For He spake, and it was done,
He commanded, and it stood fast."

Psalms 33:6,9 KJV
************************************************************************************************************
Dr. Gentry's findings on radioisotope halos were published in the top, elite, most authoritative science journals in the world such as Science, Nature, Annual Review of Nuclear Science, Earth and Planetary Science, Geophysical Research Letters, and many more. After the journal Science published his findings in October of 1976, Dr. Gentry got a letter from a professor at LSU:

"Dear Dr. Gentry,
I have been patiently scanning the 'Letters' section of Science since the publication by you and your colleagues on your findings of radiohalos. The silence has been deafening -- I think it can be interpreted as 'stunned silence'. Your results will not greatly trouble the engineer...but the impact on the science of geology, in possibly changing accepted views on geologic time, will be felt many years."
Very truly yours,
Raphael G. Kazmann, Professor

"Stunned silence", brothers and sisters. The atheistic scientific community was blown away by Dr. Gentry's findings and for months sat in stunned silence with no way to conjure up an alternative explanation to defend their false evolutionary "millions of years" timeline. Almost 50 years later, not a single scientist has been able to publish an explanation in any of these top, authoritative, peer-reviewed, elite science journals.

Oh, there are a few shills among the atheistic scientific community like John Baillieul who climb onto the internet and throw a few stones at Dr. Gentry, but none of their articles have ever been published in any top, elite, peer-reviewed science journal. Their work has been characterized as "spurious" and attempts to "hoodwink the unwary". They know their bogus claims don't even begin to approach the level of a serious challenge to Dr. Gentry's legitimate scientific work, but they can't stand the embarrassment of nearly 5 decades of deafening silence, so better to cowardly post an article on an internet website that isn't peer reviewed, isn't fact checked, isn't regarded by anyone accept atheists and foolish theistic evolutionists who wouldn't know an isotope from an ice cream sundae, and pretend they've found a "chink in the armour" - even the complicit editors of these elite journals know that publishing their desperate claims on elite peer-reviewed journal platforms would do extreme harm to the entire atheistic pseudoscience agenda because these claims would be swiftly exposed as fallacious.

Dr. Gentry boldly challenged these cowards to public, peer-reviewed debates, but no one has ever stepped up to the challenge. The stunned silence continues. When this great man of God passed away in 2020, I'm sure there was much rejoicing among the atheistic pseudoscience community. His Wiki page is shamelessly biased against him and his extraordinary accomplishments, but in a time when a lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth is finished lacing up it's boots, that's to be expected. But, praise God that it's true today as it was when Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 13:8 KJV, "We can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth" and I pray what I've written here is to the glory of God and for the protection of those who would otherwise be seduced by the satanic lie of evolution.

God is our Refuge and Strength

Psalms 46:1-3,10-11 ESV

“God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah”
“‘Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!’
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah”

Two weeks ago, December 24th, 2022, our apartment where we live was mostly all flooded. The temperatures were freezing that evening and a water pipe burst in the attic in the apartment above us and poured water down into that apartment, then into ours, and then into the one below us. But ours were not the only apartments that had frozen and burst water pipes that evening. Evidently as many as 23 or more apartments in our complex were being flooded at the same time, and it was Christmas Eve.

So we were doing all that we could do to protect as much as possible from damage, and I think this must have gone on for about two hours before they finally got the water cut off to our building so that they could repair the burst pipe. But the water continued to drip into our apartment for quite a while longer. And then we cleaned up as much as we could, and then we ran fans everywhere to help everything to dry out so that there would not be further destruction from mold or mildew.

The next four days was cleanup of everything that got wet, and then December 29th the contractors began tearing down the sheetrock in the ceilings where the water had come through, which included everywhere but the living room and dining area. So sheetrock and sheetrock dust was now flying everywhere, and the contractors were all over our apartment, and we could not function in our apartment while this was going on, so we got a hotel room for 4 nights, thinking that would be enough.

Our second night in the hotel my husband came down with a fever and chills and 24 hours later I also had fever and chills and I developed flu-like symptoms. I was very ill for several days and my back was in severe pain and I was extremely weak, and since the contractors were not yet finished with our apartment, we extended our hotel stay another three nights. And even by the time we were ready to leave the hotel to come back to the apartment I was still in such severe back pain that I could hardly do anything, so I prayed, and the Lord gave me some relief.

Last night was our first night back in our apartment. My stomach is still not doing well and I ate something that I thought would be good for me but I did not check the ingredients ahead of time and then all of a sudden I had the worst belly ache which lasted most of the day today. And my whole body is aching now, but especially my back. And I am breathing in sheetrock dust. But we have work to get done here what we can in order to function inside this apartment again, so I did as much as I was able, but cried some, too.

Now I am fully aware that my suffering pales by comparison to what many other people throughout the world are having to suffer, but it still hurts. My belly is still in pain. My back is in pain. I am coughing. I am breathing in sheetrock dust. My head is all clogged up. I hurt all over. And it is very slow going here trying to get our apartment back to being fully functional so that we can resume normal daily activity. But God is good! All the time! He knows what he is doing, and he has a plan and a purpose for it all.

He is still my refuge and my strength. He gets me through every pain, and he sustains me, and he keeps me going when I think I cannot go another step. He hears my cries for mercy and he brings healing when it is needed, but he is still allowing me to suffer, too. And all I know is that my life is in his hands always, and he allowed this for a reason, and so I must trust him with all my aches and pains and with my tomorrows that he will continue to see me through it all, and that good will come from it.

So, I must be still and know that He is God and that he will be exalted. And I must know that he is still fully sovereign over all things and so he has a purpose for everything he allows me to go through in this life. So I pray that I will learn the lessons he wants me to learn through this, and that I will continue to grow even closer to him in my walk of faith, and that my faith will increase, and that I will hear his voice more clearly, and that I will remain steadfast in faith through it all.

Near the Cross

Hymn lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, 1869
Music by William H. Doane, 1869

Jesus, keep me near the cross;
There a precious fountain,
Free to all, a healing stream,
Flows from Calvary's mountain.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day
With its shadow o'er me.

Near the cross I'll watch and wait,
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand
Just beyond the river.

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever,
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

A long story with a somewhat embarrassing ending....

First off, this missive deals with some touchy subjects, and while I have gone way out of my way to try to tone it all down, and make it as acceptable as possible, some folks here may take offense to it. It is not my desire or purpose to offend anybody, nor is it my purpose to break the forum rules. So, Moderators, if you feel this steps over any lines, please don't ban me, just delete this post with my blessings, okay? For the rest of you, if this remains open for viewing, it will give you sort of an idea of how my warped mind works.

I was doing some research on ancient Irish archaeological sites. There is a lake in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, called Lough Erne. In the lake is an island, called White Island, on which are the ruins of a late 12th-century church, which was itself built upon the ruins of a much earlier monastery. The monastery was raided, sacked, and razed by the Vikings in 837 A.D.; what was left of the buildings were gradually covered over by dirt and grass and forgotten.

About 400 years later, a small Romanesque church was built on the site, and as construction was going on, eight stone carvings were discovered, buried in the ground---most likely, remnants of the old Viking raid. The figures were deemed to be of sacred nature, and therefore, the builders of the church decided to incorporate them into the structure of the new building. They were built into the inside south wall of the church, where they remain to this day:

whiteisland-2009pano.jpg

Since no explanation has ever been found as to who or what these figures represent, there has been speculation for centuries about them. The church itself was abandoned and fell into ruin towards the tail end of the 12th century, so any records there might have been are long gone. Some of the figures are presumed to be St. Patrick, a monastic abbot, Christ, the biblical King David, and maybe an ancient Irish sub-king. But nobody knows exactly, for sure.

Here's where things start to get weird.

While researching all this, I discovered that many authorities believe the first carved figure (below) to be what's called a sheela-na-gig.

White Island Figures 004L.jpg

"What's a sheela-na-gig?" I hear you ask. My question precisely! :) So I did some research, and found out that a sheela-na-gig is an "architectural grotesque" that adorns the doorways and cornices of many ancient churches in Ireland and Europe, some as far away as Spain. It depicts a nude woman, usually sitting in a childbirth position, with her legs bent or upraised, and her hands pulling open her....um.....reproductive regions for display. The closest translation of the name is something along the lines of "old hag of the breasts". There are various explanations for this specific type of carving; the usual one is that they represent an old legend about a woman driving away the devil by exposing herself to him and scaring him away (I said it was an old legend). Another story is that they are a carry-over from pre-Christian times and represent female power and fertility and all that sort of thing. In any event, they were seen as guardians or protectors of a sort, and they were incorporated into many, many churches, and were thought, by the more superstitiously-inclined, to bring safety and good luck. Nobody got upset about them until the über-prudish Victorian age, when hundreds of them were destroyed. Even at that, hundreds of these things remain, all across Ireland.

Okay; it gets weirder. So then, in the midst of this, I find out that the sheela-na-gig is similar to some figures found on Hindu temples in India and across south Asia, called yonis. Apparently, a yoni is a representation of the Hindu goddess Shakti, which deals, again, with birth and reproduction and female power and feminine prowess and so on. Evidently, the word yoni eventually became a common term for the human vulva/vagina. (I told you this was weird.) There are carvings on Indian temples of, again, females in childbirth positions, legs spread and the groin area exposed, somewhat similar to the sheela-na-gigs. Here are two examples, which I have toned down by blanking out the naughty bits:

sheelayoni.jpg

Still with me? Onward we go, weirder and weirder yet. While investigating all of this, I came across something called a "yoni egg". :sorry: This is literally a chunk of semi-precious stone (jade; amethyst; quartz; opal; jasper, etc.) that has been shaped into the form of a bird's egg, smoothed and polished to the consistency of a stone from a rock polisher. In some circles, apparently these objects are used by women for health or holistic purposes; they are inserted into the vaginal canal (yes, really) and are carried around while the woman performs what we would call Kegel exercises all day long to keep it in place. This, in turn, is supposed to tighten the muscles and walls of the cervix, etc., and result in better coitus, and, if you believe in all of the New-Agey "powers of the crystal"-type nonsense, some sort of spiritual benefits as well.

Here's where it gets embarrassing. :( Upwards of some thirty years ago, I was in a curio shop, and I came across an ornament that I thought was pretty neat; it was my favorite color (blue; I think it's made from lapis lazuli), so I picked it up for a couple of bucks, and I've had it ever since.

Guess what? Yep, you guessed it. The "ornament" that I picked up all those years ago is actually one of these yoni eggs:

20230106_213219.jpg

Ooopsie. How was I supposed to know? :sigh: I just thought it was a pretty stone egg. I had no idea what the thing was actually supposed to be used for. When I told my wife about this, she nearly died laughing. She said, "Well, dear, I guess we can safely say it was not meant for you!" :| Thanks, honey. :sigh:

The moral of the story: when you start researching something, be real careful, because it may lead you in directions that you wouldn't have gone anywhere near if you'd had any idea where you'd wind up when you started!

A London furniture conservator solves 20,000-year Ice Age drawings mystery

With his research advancing, he brought in friends and senior academics. They encouraged him to continue with his investigations despite Mr Bacon being "effectively a person off the street".

He collaborated with a team including two professors from Durham University and one from University College London and, by working out the birth cycles of similar present-day animals, they deduced that the number of marks on the cave paintings was a record, by lunar month, of the animals' mating seasons.

However, im wondering, I adore my job, and I love the creative aspect, but will this skill transfer over into heaven?

Re Open Doors World Watch List for 2023

Having problem with the site. Also, they will not be posting their World Watch 2023 list until Jan. 18. In the meantime here is some of their information about North Korea.

Rebecca
Rebecca's diary of supporting North Korean refugees (name changed and images from a reconstruction of Rebecca's story)

Day 1

I met some new North Korean sisters today. These women endure such poor lives. Their lives are truly difficult and harsh. They should be welcomed as a new family member but many of them are not. Instead, they are just treated as a means to deliver babies. Without legal identification, they cannot travel freely. They cannot do what they want. They are confined in the situation.

God allows me to find the sisters. When they first hear about the Word of God, they laugh at it, and they respond as if it were nonsense. I know they’re only coming for funds, for the small amount of money I can give. But I’ve seen God do many transformations in the past, and I have faith He will do it again.
It’s very difficult to teach them the message of the Word because in their minds, there are a mixture of ideas that they learned from North Korea which are against the teachings of Jesus. They really want to believe it, but the messages from the Bible were so different from what they had learned so far, so it takes time for them to actually accept the Truth. In North Korea, being found with a Bible would mean a death sentence. I know how dangerous it is – both for them and for me – to share the gospel. Oh, but it’s worth it.

After a month

I need to go to faraway places to meet these sisters. They live far away from where I live, and in a new place that I didn’t know. The journey is difficult and dangerous.
"I need to go to faraway places to meet these sisters. The journey is difficult and dangerous."
I know God protects me. There have been a lot of times when I needed to travel alone. Those were such insecure moments but, all the time, God prepared the way for me.
Every time I’ve travelled for this work, there was not one accident or incident – this is God’s amazing grace! Even though the journeys from village to village aren’t safe, I am able to continue visiting the sisters for the Bible study meetings. This proves that God protects the ministry.

I’m getting to know the sisters more. Surely, I feel pity for them, but they are so lovely. They are God’s children, that’s their identity, and just feeling pity for them is not enough. God looks for them, and wants to build them. As they get to listen more and more to the Bible and to explanations about it, they become serious about the message.
At first, the women only talked to me about their own problems. They didn’t listen to others. They were jealous of what the other person had and hated one another. They had a lot of conflicts and fights among them. But as time goes by, the sisters are changing, and they now know how to listen to others, how to comfort others and how to encourage others. I’m seeing that Jesus is really touching their hearts and teaching them how to love.

Today, I was thinking about the sisters I miss the most. The sister I really miss is, ironically, the sister that I was the most suspicious about. My guess is that she was actually a spy.
"I’m seeing amazing transformation in the North Korean sisters."
This is just my speculation, but she acted suspiciously and she sometimes lied about her faith. But a moment came and, after that, she wasn’t that distant anymore. She engaged with us in the meetings and helped us with things. And slowly, she began to show who she really was.
But she seemed to have cycles. Sometimes she was distant, sometimes she was close. At times she sounded like she truly believed in Jesus, but at other times she didn’t.
I wonder how she encounters God these days. I miss her a lot.

I’m seeing amazing transformation in the North Korean sisters. During the worship services within the Bible study group, the sisters begin to sincerely pray for their husbands and in-laws and their redemption. They’ve started to ask for God’s heart when praying for their families. Even the Chinese families notice. Often they say, “You have changed since you’ve been to the church.”

When I see these transformations, I feel so happy and proud of them. As they get to know more about Jesus, the Word of God surely changes the women in His good ways.
Also, they’ve started to really pray for their own country. They prayed that churches will be built in the land and that North Korea will accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some sisters have contact with underground believers in North Korea, and we’ve been able to help them through secret networks in China. We received their letters and news that they received the funds safely and that they’re worshipping God. It made me feel so happy to hear this news.

I’m amazed when I think about how the sisters have changed in the time I’ve known them. At first, all they wanted was to receive. They came to the Bible study meetings to get the funds. They wanted to be supported. But then when they kept listening to the Word of God and learned about God’s love, they started to help other sisters, comforting and encouraging them, loving them. That’s the moment I thought, “Wow, they really have changed.” I thank God for such transformation.
"I pray that the sisters will serve as powerful disciples of God."
“Surely, God has His own plans for your life,” I say to them. “Please remember this. Please remember this wherever you go, whatever you do. Even when it’s pitch dark and you feel like you are all by yourself, Jesus Christ is holding your hand. Please don’t forget this Truth.”
I pray that the fruits of the Holy Spirit will be abundant among the sisters, so that they will first see God’s glory and shine His glory right where they are – whether they stay in China or go back to North Korea. I pray that they will be able to shine God’s glory to their families, to their neighbours and the people around them. I pray that the sisters will be able to show God’s beautiful character and love right where they are. I pray that the sisters will serve as powerful disciples of God.
Rebecca takes extraordinary risks to meet with North Korean women refugees, showing them the love of Christ. She can only do it if Open Doors supporters like you keep supporting and praying for her. Together, the body of Christ is transforming the lives of courageous North Koreans.

PLEASE PRAY

  • That God will protect the ministry of secret fieldworkers, so they will not be detected by the authorities
  • For many more North Korean refugees to encounter Jesus and choose to follow Him
  • For God to show His love, strength and comfort to all who take risks to obey Him.

Rudy Giuliani Accused

Rudy has been accused for sexual predation and abuse. She is suing him for a ton of money.

NYPost said:
A New York woman filed a $3.1 million lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani, claiming he demanded sexual favors and created a “toxic” work environment before firing her and stiffing her for work she’d already done, new court papers show.

Noelle Dunphy, 43, claims she worked for the former mayor as “an off-the-books, secret employee” doing business development work from 2019 through 2021, when Giuliani allegedly “sexually harassed [her] and demanded sexual favors,” according to a Manhattan Supreme Court summons from Tuesday.
In his favor, I have not heard that he has a habit of abusing women (although there was that one scene from the Borat movie) and he has been around for a long, long while.

So, stay tuned....
